Quick lunch before dropping my friend off at the airport. We waited for a host/ess to even see that we were there for 3-4 min before being seated. There is a strange smell about the place (think old folks home), I don't know if it is the building, the food, or something else. Ordered the calamari and although technically it could be considered calamari, I would have called it "squid frites", no rings and no tentacles just strips in the shape of fries. The marinara/cocktail sauce was a bizarre combination and did nothing to help the seasonless squid frites. I ordered the combination lunch which consisted of beef ravioli, lasagna, and spaghetti. The ravioli was fantastic and the spaghetti was on point as well. Great red gravy. The lasagna however was over cooked and the noodles soft almost mushy. Ordered 2 meatballs to accompany my dish and they were more mealy than firm. Would not order them again. My friend ordered the steak and cheese (which was almost $30) and was surprised when it came out as the steak was not shredded or sliced but an entire filet which made the price point make a little more sense. The bun was not the expected Italian bread roll/loaf but something else entirely that felt grocery store bought. Additionally, the sandwich arrived soggy so basically my friend had a steak (sans bread) with mozzarella and canned mushrooms on it but certainly not the expected Philly-style steak and cheese. It's sort of a trip back to the cheesy red-sauce places in Flyover Country in the Seventies. But done right - this might be just what you want or need. While I can only give the (apparently family-run) DiCicco's three stars as a restaurant experience from my present foodie perspective, I suspect we'll always look at our memories of our meal there fondly. And the service rates an additional star. The food is . . . like that in a cheesy red-sauce place in flyover country in the Seventies. Not like Nonna used to make, not what we cook at home and certainly not like you're going to find at almost any upscale Italian restaurant of the present-day. But, you'll get a LOT of it, and they don't hold back on the cheese. It's like a happy memory of childhood . . . but not a foodie experience of the Twenties. Cocktails are solid - just like Uncle Art used to make in the Seventies (don't tell Mom I had a taste). The service? Couldn't be better - friendly, down-home, hustling. The room? Enormous - cavernous, even. With a hysterical wall-sized projection TV blasting cheesy concert videos from Italy in the Eighties. And full to the brim with happy dressed-up customers wolfing down the eats. Pricing is reasonable - most certainly not inexpensive. Okay, so: Overall: 4 stars Food: 3 Cocktails: 4 Service: 5 Room: 3 Pricing: 3 We only got to experience DiCicco's due to a disastrous clusterfrack trapping us overnight in DEN (grr). Got a room at an airport business hotel and walked over to this non-chain diamond shining on the prairie . . . and the DiCicco's experience simply swept away our traveller exhaustion and grumpiness - a fact that is remarkable and for which we'll always be grateful. This place is super over priced for the quality of food, the atmosphere is nice but the food is super over priced. There are much better Italian places in Denver. They charged us for lemons for our water.... mind you the food was overpriced I mean seriously like 25$ for some basic spaghetti, extra to add meatballs and then you wanna charge us for 4 slices of lemons..The pasta sauce was watery and the service genuinely was a 3/5, every time we asked our server for something he would say "yeah just give me a minute" like yes we don't expect you to pull it out of thin air we know you need a minute to go get it.... My husband and I have passed this place a thousand times. We finally gave it a try. Move over Olive garden and Carrabba's! DiCicco's has a wonderful chicken Marsala dish, that tasted phenomenal. Everything from the house salad, to the fresh vegetables, chicken and pasta tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent. The dining area was huge with three different levels of floors for seating with various tables sizes. The booths feel very private. There is live music & dancing here three or more times a week. First let me say that this place is expensive! A bowl of minestrone soup is $14.25! A tea bag with hot water is $4.25. The bread is too soft almost mushy including the crust and it is not served with olive oil - which would have been a better approach. The Lasagna was good. The place has a stale odor when you walk in. It is odd that they have had an employee shortage since July 2021 [almost 4 years] so they will not split tips - difficult for lunch groups from work. They add a surcharge for using a credit card - so pay cash if it concerns you - they say that there's a sign posted, but I didn't see one posted. Why is this so difficult to split lunch checks? Our server was very good, but they split tips with all "applicable" employees, so don't think that your money is going to your server. What is applicable? Is the management included? I got the impression that while the servers do care, the owners do not. They're located close to hotels/airport so they likely get a lot of out-of-towners walking from the hotel. This place is pretty, but they could do better with their policies, bread, restaurant odor and reduce prices. read more

I came at lunch to save a little money. There were many signs posted at the front that explained that prices were based on cash prices and a small fee would be charged to any credit card purchases. I should've been more prepared with Cash, but it goes quick when you are traveling. I was greeted by either a manager or the owner who was extremely friendly and welcoming as he walked me to my table. The portion was big enough for 2 people and came with delicious salted butter and warm bread. They were equally amazing. I loved the linguine with shrimp, scallops, and white sauce. I ate all my protein and was full before I even tried the pasta. 4 large shrimp, and 5 medium-sized scallops. Great service and atmosphere. The music was beautiful but watching Andrea Bocelli on a large screen in the dining room was a little strange. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a great old school Italian meal. We were totally amazed by the work and effort Vitoria ( the wonderful owner) put into this beautiful restaurant with his heart. The drinks were very fair, food was deliciously prepared in the old Italian family tradition. Ample parking, prices are very fair. The pasta was overcooked and the meatballs were mushy and tasteless. I spent $54 and I can't recommend the restaurant. This place is really classless, as you walk in there are inkjet printed signs in plastic sleeves that have all these goofy policies like no split checks due to understaffing. The menu has all this stuff about tips don't go to the servers, it's split amongst the staff. The food is okay, ordered the bruschetta and it was disgusting. A soggy piece of the cheapest garlic bread you can imagine with a slice of tomato on top. Ordered lasagna for an entree and it was decent. Portion sizes are huge. The wine glasses are those really thick cheap industrial grade glasses that have seen better days, not befitting of a restaurant charging almost $40 an entree. On top of all this, they charge an absurd 3.7% to use a credit card. I left feeling like I had been ripped off and will never return. read more

This place is huge and uniquely decorated throughout. The service was very good. I really liked the calamari and bruschetta appetizers that we got. I got the chicken parmigiana with a side of chili which was also very tasty. Although the prices were on the more expensive side compared to other Italian restaurants. Although at a certain time, they started to turn up the volume on the background music and it was rock nonetheless so it became much harder to hear each other and converse. First visit when staying at La Quinta Hotel. Very authentic Italian. I had Chicken Parmesan with fresh veggies. Very tasty! Chicken was quite tender, the sauce had good flavor and vegetables were cooked just right. The server was very pleasant and attentive. Now for the ambiance - very authentic Italian. A bit dated but it had hand painted grape vines on all the walls, a mural of a Roman Ben Herr like setting and a movie screen showing an Andrea Bocelli concert!! When we first walked in, we had high hopes with an Italian family-owned restaurant...our hopes were dashed when the food showed up. Antipasto was nothing more than a large salad: lettuce, black olives from Domino's, pepperoncinis, cheese cubes, 10 or so slices of salami. Was expecting a bit more of a cheeseboard style thing, based on the menu and the $25 price tag. You'd find better for $11/pound at King Soopers. The calzone was smothered in basic spaghetti sauce, so the art of making a calzone was completely soggy. I figured the family-named fettuccine would be a winner, but was sorely disappointed. The onions were still raw, the sauce lacked umami and was under flavored. Take the time to sauté up your onions with mushrooms and a bit of garlic and olive oil before you put things together. The poor meal was only punctuated by a beetle landing on our table. read more

The award for "not what I was expecting" goes to Dicicco's. From the outside it looks like they are out of business. It's in an area with mainly hotels and not much other industry or dining options. The building looks a bit run down and very old school Italy. Walk inside and the decor is what I would call cheesy Italy. Murals and carpet everywhere. The main dining area is spacious and has a giant projector screen which was playing a Andre Rieu concert from 2006 on it. The interior is multiple levels which are apparently used for conference space. We were skeptical...I was sure I was going to get razzed by my colleagues for this lunch choice. The service is impeccable. Prompt, efficient and friendly. The menu has classic Italian dishes. Since it was lunch we didn't check out a wine or alcohol menu. The food was delicious and massive portions. The rigatoni bolognese was made with real tomato sauce and fresh sausage. The calzoni was HUGE and could have easily been shared by 3 people. Gnocchi was fresh and in a fancy tomato sauce and the bread for the table was warm and so soft and delicious. Don't let the decor fool you. This is a legit dining experience. We left about three-quarters of our meals uneaten. The lobby also smelled strongly of cleaning products. This restaurant was a convenient walk from our hotel. It is an interesting dining area: huge open space in the middle with seating around the outside. Sort of like a coliseum. On the ground floor, there is a stage and a big projector screen playing various music videos like opera. The service was good. Our server answered all of questions about gluten free choices. There were gluten free pasta choices but no GF bread. The gf pasta was excellent and the salad portions are very large. However, I just had an opportunity to come back a couple days ago and I was so excited as I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh pasta the last time I was here. I WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!!! They did not have it and the waiter informed me that it's been over 6 weeks since they have had the fresh pasta. I almost got up and left, but I had already ordered wine. I reluctantly ordered lasagna and ravioli. It was pretty good. The two stars are for the food I did have along with the homemade bread. The service from my waiter was good as well. However, after the restaurant making such an impression on my first visit years ago and the dissatisfied food options this time, I'm sad to say that I will not be back here. The food felt like it was pre made and was sitting there waiting for customers to order. I'm telling you- it came out within 5 minutes of ordering.
