We had been wanting to go to Zane's for a while as we don't live too far and were curious. Zane's did not disappoint. We were greeted by the owner who was super friendly and attentive to our needs. The restaurant is super family friendly and warm, they had high chairs for our children. We usually sit down and have an idea of what we are going to order for the children and they took our order and were quick in giving us their food first. We ordered the chicken parm that comes with spaghetti and the chicken pene Alfredo with an app of the mozzarella sticks. All three did not disappoint in flavor or portions. Portions are easily shared if you want to share with someone. The mozzarella sticks were crunchy and the cheese pull was there! The marinara served with them was delicious and a good complementary to the flavorful sticks. The chicken Alfredo was delicious and I loved that it included some in season veggies which help feel less heavy. The chicken was juicy and tender. The chicken parm was phenomenal! The chicken was juicy and flavorful and crispy. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked and perfectly coated with sauce. Everything was well balanced. We also ordered the kids spaghetti and meatball and our toddlers loved it! Safe to say they might be getting this every time we come. The service we received by our server was worth noting. I wish I could remember her name; she was friendly, attentive and helpful in answering our questions and input. We noticed how friendly and engaging the owner was to all the customers; checking on us, making sure the food and service we were getting was up to par which is always nice to see an owner really care about their customers and their experience. Hadn't been to this building since it was a different business, and decided to go when a friend shared with me that the owner was buying a meal for bereaved mothers on Mother's Day. What a special gesture. My son died almost six years ago to cancer, and Mother's Day is tough. I made a reservation for an early dinner during HH on the Friday before Mother's Day and went with my bestie. Our server was super attentive, and as promised, I did get a hug and a free entree from the owner. We were also served free breadsticks with marinara sauce before ordering. Zane's has a popular HH daily until 6:00pm and after 8pm, with half-price apps, wines by the glass, cocktails, and draft & bottle beers. How can you go wrong? We split the Italian Egg Rolls, which were filled with ricotta, mozzarella, pepperoni, and sausage. It was tough to decide what to get for my entree, but I was stuffed from apps, so I went with a personal pizza and took half home. The Prosciutto Provo had a good char on the crust and just the right amount of toppings. We were seated in the back area in a booth next to the wine rack. I'm giving a two stars due to the food. My husband had the Veal Saltimbocca and the crust it's fried in was way too much/thick. The veal was so dried out but when you're hungry you're going to eat. The noodles were ok, but super salty and way too much lemon. I had the classic Cesar salad with salmon, the salmon looked nice on one side and the first few bites were good but the more I got into it the taste changed and it got really dry, so I flipped it over and it was just so over cooked, burnt, (the chef should have never plated it) there was just no spices or flavor on the salmon either. The shrimp and the sauces were good. The drinks were good. They do have a good happy hour. Service was ok. Noisy in there. But it's a restaurant and the Avs just started. I used to frequent this location when it was the Citron Bistro. Zane's has since changed owners and cuisines, the ambiance, however, remains the same. The servers really make this place as ours, in particular, was very kind, helped us to order the exact right thing based on our tastes and preferences. The menu has so many choices and tastes to offer, it was hard to pick from. They offer a great happy hour menu as well for both drinks and food. I ordered the Rossa Verde salad and was not disappointed. The flavors of the peppers,feta, and spices on the chicken were all delicious-it was a very good concoction of flavors! Breadsticks were also ordered to split with my party. They were a little under done to be honest. This place is the definition of quantity not quality when it comes to the food. I just don't have words with how average the food was. It was overwhelmingly average. Service was fine, I went in around 6:30 so it wasn't too busy. I got the chicken parm, the breading that the chicken was fried and tasted weird, like the oil they used was old. The breading had little seasoning. The marinara sauce was very subpar. I also ordered an Italian soda which had whipped cream in it, so it was more like a cream soda. Which I wasn't expecting, but it was good. I also overheard from the next table that the pizza was also sub par. I think the only positive thing I heard was from a table of senior citizens that were over the age of 70. I'm sure their taste buds were not so good. Honestly you can come here and have dinner and no break the bank. The staff is always super friendly and Zane himself comes out sometimes and mingles with the crowd and touches tables. Great atmosphere. This last week a co-worker and I went for happy hour. She had never been there before and she was blown away by the prices and the quality of the food. You cannot go wrong with any of the appetizers and they have a ton to pick from. This time I got the caprese salad and meatballs. Trying to stay on somewhat low carb diet so these were great choices. I came here for lunch with my family and we all got the "pick two" special. They served us a large portion of breadsticks with marinara sauce. Seems as though I had only reviewed this place when they were at their old location, but now I've been to their current home on Hampden a couple of times, and they're still good. Twice I've gone for group events and they have had no problem keeping things straight and making sure everyone got what they wanted. Service has been excellent and the menu has plenty to offer for everyone. Happy hour here gets very busy and I can see why everybody likes this place. The new venue is a bit bigger and is a good setup for them so I'm glad they made the move a while ago. Hopefully they'll continue to do well here. read more

We went here on Friday 2/13 to celebrate a low key Valentine's Day as my husband was working the following day. They have a GREAT happy hour menu which we took full advantage of! We started off with the fried ravioli and burrata as our apps and really enjoyed both, especially the asparagus bits in the burrata. For our meals, I got the shrimp scampi which was so good, the shrimp was cooked perfectly! My husband then made more use of the happy hour menu by ordering the meatball boat, the chicken wings, and the mussels which was a ton of food and way more than he/we needed. The wings and mussels were super good but we both just thought the meatballs were okay, they had a sweet and smoky flavor to them which we thought was kind of odd, but that was our only complaint. Came here to catch up with a few girl friends on a Tuesday night. I did make a reservation, but I think on a weekday if you walk in without a reservation that might work too. The decor is lovely! They went above and beyond to decorate for Christmas. Great spot to take a holiday picture. Our waiter David was great! Super attentive and on top of everything. He even split a salad that we wanted to share without us asking and brought over some yummy bread sticks. This is the type of place you can laugh without feeling too loud. It is much larger inside than anticipated. The food was also good. I did not love the stuffed shells, but it was okay. I think next time that I come back I would like to try something different. I know this is not the best Italian restaurant in the Denver area but they truly have my support. They used to be located near Belleview and I-25 (ish) but ever since the predecessor restaurant (Citron) closed, they've moved to the now location and this was the game changer for me. You know why? It's now a walking distance! No renovation from the old Citron. They could use some upgrades to be frank but whenever I go here, it's always crowded. People in the Hampden South neighborhood must love this place especially the older generations (opps, I guess I fall into that age range which I hate to admit!!) On a beautiful early evening yesterday (Sunday), my date and I went here for a meal at around 5pm. Most of the tables were taken so the only options were those high tables. The bar was loud with people cheering for their favorite teams on TV (a football game was on.) We got one of the two-person high tables all the way to the end of the bar where there was a wedding reception in the divided section which we could see between the Christmas decorations. They were much quieter than the people cheering for their favorite team (LOL. Goodness, this is not a sports bar for cry out loud!!!) He ordered one of the Calzone; I got me the North Atlantic Salmon with a bed of pasta. He got an IPA; I got me a glass of some Italian Cabernet Sauvignon. He didn't care so much for his Calzone but I enjoyed my Salmon plate. It was a good portion. The salmon was a good size; the pasta underneath was more than plenty. The seasoning was done well where nothing was too salty. But most of all, our waiter, Kevin was quite impressive with almost over-the-top attentiveness (LOL!) He kept checking up on us more than enough (better than less or none, right?) He was also quite a gentleman; his professionalism was impeccable. Our meals were big. We were so full where he couldn't even have a second round of beer (which he usually does.) And no dessert for us either. Like I said, if you are looking for a superb Italian restaurant you wouldn't pick this place especially if you're looking to spend some special occasion (some romantic atmosphere in mind.) But I must say that I appreciate Zane's being so within my reach. I can call this place "my neighborhood Italian restaurant"; I can count on them. read more

Came here for lunch today, as they have a Special for $14, between 11-2, where you choose 2 items, from Salad/Soup, Sandwiches, Pasta or a 10" Pizza. OMG! I ordered the 1/2 Size Chicken Alfredo and 1/2 Size Spaghetti and Meatball. You first get Fabulous Bread Sticks, which are nice and soft, with a Delicious Sauce I ended up also getting the Tiramisu for dessert, so wonderful. My waitress was so lovely and helpful. Not only was our server outstanding, but watching others told us that the whole staff was well trained and friendly. Sadly, not all the food was great. Outstanding Caesar salad, and the chicken parm on my sampler was very good, but the lasagna was just bland and so so, and the fettucine alfredo was good but not wow. Olive Garden's is better. Meatball appetizer also lacked the wow. Too bad cuz we wanted it to be a go to spot. I drive by this place all the time so today I decided to grab an eggplant Parmesan sub as this is how evaluate if an Italian restaurant is good (i.e if their eggplant in general is good). Well the eggplant was very chewy and somewhat skimpy since I had only one slice of eggplant on each half. Serving the homemade chip in the container made it so they soft and chewy by the time I got back to the office. For $17 this sub is not worth it. The food here was very good, "home cooking" Italian. I had spaghetti Bolognese, and my girlfriend had shrimp scampi. Drinks were good, not great, but they were strong. Happy hour daily 11am to 6pm! Old school vibe - definitely not a trendy place, Probably more a friends & family place more than a first date kinda place. Older clientele. There were 4 of us dining at Zane's last night. I have dined there several times before and enjoyed the food and experience. Last night was an exception. Our server was a young woman and I use the word "server" loosely. We waited a long time for our drink order to be taken and received. After about 10 minutes, another group was seated next to us and their server handled their drink and dinner order promptly. We sat and waited. We had to ask a person bussing tables to get our waiter. It was about 20 minutes before she took our dinner order. The table next to us had their dinner expediently, while we waited. Salads were served but we one person ordered soup and we had to ask for it. Dinner finally came and we had to ask for breadsticks, which I've received on other visits with the salad course. Food was good. Server never return to check on us, nor asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee. Even the owner was checking on tables, but not ours. At this point, all we wanted the was the check. Another amazing night at Zanes. Place was packed, but we got seated quickly. Mike was our server, he had a lot to handle but did a great job . Zane came over a few times to make sure everything was good. We had the calamari app, it was so tender, not rings, but long pieces , so good. The marinara is great, I am an Italian from NJ, so that says a lot. I made my own entree, had the mussels over pasta, i would have it again. Nice mozzarella could have used a thicker slice of tomato. Fried ravioli with their homemade thick and chunky sauce. I would have liked it a little less fried but still tasty. Edit: I changed my review to one star because I was violently ill after eating this meal, presumably from subpar lobster. The one star is for the polite service we received. Meh. The lobster ravioli for 31 dollars was so overpowered by the tomato sauce that it might as well have been canned Chef Boyardee. Also this is a sports bar setting. The table next to us was SO LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS that I think they forgot they were in a public setting, or weren't raised with manners at that. A restaurant is not a backyard clam bake. But anyway.
