The pasta with the butter sauce was well done and the shrimp were a nice size and cooked and seasoned well. The salad was a good portion. The pasta seems it is made from scratch. Fresh bread w butter was provided. The place is unusual in that you must purchase a lodge membership in order to be able to order alcohol. The application for lodge membership to be potentially approved takes some time. None of my friends had this membership but one of them wanted to get it in the future: I do not need drinks to enjoy my time but I am still open to them. I try to be pickier about drinks because I feel inundated from them throughout life, The choices they have tend to be very mainstream Italian and I wasn't expecting too adventurous in this more remote area (compared to Philadelphia) and this isn't a place I would typically pick on my own, but they do the food well here. I wanted to try a dessert but nothing struck my fancy AND I was too full. I unregrettably ate about half My dish and took the rest home. Staff here is very friendly. read more

The Hershey Italian Lodge is a mystery to me. It is part members-only club and part open-to-the-public restaurant. Drinks are relatively cheap but limited in selection and for members only. I can see why some people would get upset about the drink policy. What I don't get is all the praise given by other reviewers for the food! Brought our daughter and her roommates here for dinner. We made reservations and our table was waiting for us, with a pitcher of ice water and cups. We ordered mozzarella sticks, calamari and the Hill bread for appetizers. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a baked potato for dinner. Other dinners were steak and a wrap. For dessert my husband and I split the peanut butter pie - so good!! The girls got their desserts to go :) The food was all very good and our server was wonderful. This restaurant was a nice place to grab dinner with family and friends. They had your traditional Italian food such as pasta and pizza, while also having wraps and hoagies. They have different specials during the weekdays and on Friday when we went they had a prime rib and fish fry special. We had my baby shower here in one of the private sections. It was absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing! Everyone was complimenting how great the food was as well. The restrooms were clean & nice. The staff were excellent and on top of everything. I highly recommend them for any type of events you'd like to host! For our food menu we had Asiago stuffed potatoes (everyone's favorite), mac and cheese, baked ziti, antipasti salad, bruschetta and of course bread. Why is the deck at the Italian Lodge in such bad shape? It's bocce season why can't people be using it?

While staying next door at Tru, we were looking for a good place to have a nice, sit-down dinner after suffering through theme park food for lunch. I'm so glad we came in to eat some really outstanding authentic and flavorful food. Real meat sauce and excellent ravioli dishes and the kids loved various things on the kids menu. We didn't drink or inquire about alcohol during our stay, so check to see if membership in the lodge is required as is mentioned on other reviews. They did offer an outstanding unsweetened iced tea that was delicious. Service was great and several of the staff came by to fill a glass or clear a plate. Most of us had food to take back to the room because the portions were so large, but maybe one or two of us left room for a slice of chocolate and peanut butter pie. A bar is along one wall as you walk-in and the rest of the area is filled with tables so I'm guessing you would never wait very long for a seat. The rest of the restaurant decor is dated and fits perfectly what you would want when traveling far a way from home and going to your mind's picture of a lodge. Would definitely return and really would look forward to it when coming nearby to the theme park. read more

Food was soooo good! Their red sauce s was some of the best. I've had in quite awhile! Hot sausage wasn't that hot, but still really good. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Chicken parm was crispy and also perfectly cooked. Meals came with salad. Dressings were homemade and also really good. We had house Italian and blue cheese. My son got the ribs special. Meat was falling off the bones and super tender. Also very good. Would definitely go back if we're in the area! Only downside is no alcohol unless you're a member. I will take one for the team and just go for food since it was so yummy! Service was a little slow, but she was attentive and very nice and genuine. She even took a dish off the bill because my husband left a lot in his bowl because he didn't really like it. He was disappointed by the pierogi and sausage. Found this gem completely by accident. Was in town on business staying at hotel next door. Got in to Hershey super late and wanted to try someplace close so my buddy and I checked it out. Did not disappoint. Extremely friendly service with great suggestions. Food portions were humongous and tasted like a high end italian restaurant. Only downside if you want to drink alcohol you need to be a member of the lodge which we didn't feel the need to sign up. Wound up going back a second day. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect when we walked in, as we have eaten at social clubs before. From the moment we entered the dining area, we were pleasantly greeted by our hostess and seated at our reserved table. Our server was quick to get our beverages and take our orders and attentive to our needs even though it was very busy. Just a quick note that alchoholic beverages can only be served to members of the club. This was not an issue for us. We ordered the HIT bread for an appetizer (Great!) and our meals were great also. The portions were good sized and the tastes were amazing. I had the Sausage, Peppers, and Onions over Rigatoni and my wife had the Chicken Parm. We both took home leftovers. We will definitely be back when in town again. This was the best Italian meal we have had in a long time! read more

The food is the best part of this establishment. I suppose that's a good thing. Food is plentiful. I've been here a number of times over the years, including business dinners, funeral meals, and non-profit organizations. There are several things that can give this establishment higher star power: Improve dining area decor, e.g. change the floor coverings, walls, and cheesy fake flower centerpieces. Add more splash of color in the restrooms. Vintage ads behind the commodes in ladies room is cute but would work better elsewhere on walls. Spruce up the entrance. It looks dreary! Consider landscaping improvements. Noisy heating/cooling/fan system is distracting and annoying. It is hard to hear speakers when the system goes on very loudly and abruptly. Clean up the coffee and tea station. Add more tea variety e.g. caffeine, herbal, etc. Keep hot water pitcher full when groups are here. Better yet, add another pitcher or two for hot water. read more

An o-k place for dinner. good sandwiches and boli. They do a good job with special events. The smaller room in the basement is wonderful. If they could just get their red sauce back to when mama made it, we would go a few times a week. Good salad, good parking, nice servers, the bar is a bit iffy. Locals usually fill it up. The parking lot was quite full, and was a bit confused on where exactly the entrance was. My family and I found an entrance in the back! We walk up the stairs, and opened the door to the place full of people! Mostly at the bar, of course, but there happened to be fairly good amount of people sitting in the dinning room. I did notice music was playing in the background! It was definitely not too loud nor to quiet - it was perfect! TV's were all around the dinning area, and were playing interesting topics! Additionally, the cleanliness is very high! The restaurant was spotless! Fellow costumers greeted us as we walked towards our waitress. She was, indeed, really nice! She immediately got our placemats, silverware, and menus! Next, she kindly asked for our drinks and starters. I order lemon water and a Shirley Temple. My Mother ordered a pink lemonade. Finally, my Father ordered a peach, iced tea. My drinks were great! My water with lemon was divine, and my Shirley Temple certainly had a kick to it! My mother enjoyed her pink lemonade. My father exclaimed, "This is the bestest tea I've ever had! I was afraid, due to it being unsweetened. . .but it's fabulous!" Quite soon after, our appetizers arrived! We stayed at the Tru for a concert. We went to the Hershey Italian Lodge for dinner. We are not members and didn't have a reservation. We were greeted promptly by a friendly staff member. When we were asked if we could use a booth, I responded that I recently had shoulder surgery and the booth would be a problem. They quickly rearranged some tables to accommodate us. The food we ordered came out quickly and was excellent. The price was very reasonable. We will return when we come back to Hershey. We would recommend this restaurant. read more

If I could give a zero I would especially since we did not eat there. I was staying next door at Tru and they highly recommended Hersey Italian Lodge so we wanted to give it a try. We walked in on a Tuesday and we were not aware until we literally walked in there was a sign on the door stating the restaurant was closed on Tuesday. We figured ok have a cocktail or 2 while we wait for a Lyft to take us to another restaurant nope. As soon as we walked in the room went quiet and everyone stared like we had 3 heads! They didn't say hi or anything the bartender just said "The kitchen is closed" then a patron said "You can't drink here either members only" it was the most rude uninviting experience I've ever had in a restaurant/bar! We felt so awkward and outcast and pointed out! But, Im glad we didn't eat there it looked outdated, musty, dirty, and also smelled. So, if you wanna pay to be a part of that club have fun! We had an amazing dinner elsewhere and were very amazing! If you want to be surrounded by rude people and dust bunnies eat here any day but Tuesday! read more

Terrible advertised open to the public. But can't order beer or wine with dinner. Service was non existent finally we just sat down at a open table, Young lady came over to the table and said nothing but slammed the place matts down and walked away. About 10 minutes passed and the second lady came over and ask if we were members then stated you can't order alcoholic beverages. So I can't have wine with my Italian dinner--she said no and walked away..At this point I was wanting to leave-but my wife insisted we place a order to go...Ordered a appetizer which to 25 minutes...we finally left and will never return. I picked up my togo order, never saw any onion rings in the box I ordered. I went back and they told me they were under the sandwich, they were. I wish I never got the onion rings, they were nasty and blueish color, never seen any onion rings like this before, look at the pics. They gave me as many catsup packets as I did get onion rings...6...wtf. Glad they gave me so little since I threw them all in the trash. Sandwich was ok, just ok. I would never go here again! Um, we looked at the reviews before choosing "The Lodge," not realizing that it is a membership club, sort of. The reviews are correct when they say you don't go there for the ambiance. It is quite a dive. The reviews were right about at least one of the staff. A young man who quickly greeted us, set up a table and seated us, all with a smile. Then the waitress came to ask if we wanted to order drinks. I tried to order a glass of wine. She asked for our card. We looked at her 8n complete bewilderment and I explained that this was our first time here and what card was she talking about. It was only at that point that we learned you have to fill out a membership application and have it approved before you can have a glass of wine with your dinner. Excellent food and reasonable prices. I normally get my fill of top shelf Italian food at home. The Italian Lodge is my second favorite place to enjoy Italian cuisine. My favorite dish is the home made gnocchi with meat sauce. I have always found "The Lodge" to be clean and the staff courteous and friendly. read more

That should have been made clear but didn't see that listed anywhere as that could be a turnoff for a lot of people.
