Basically at my doorstep and all the years I haven't been... shout out to National Ice Cream Day for giving me the courage to finally go! I ultimately decided to go for two scoops of ice cream -- one Banana Pudding, one Cinnamon Bun. That was a pretty darn awesome combination, I gotta say. I didn't get any toppings or anything since I had plenty at home, but I just wanted to try some new flavors. But if I desired, I had quite a few cones to choose from such as waffle cones, bowls or chocolate-dipped cones. They were also plenty of sprinkles and cereals and candy bits to pick. The two flavors I picked seemed like such a step up above the other available flavors, but that's not to say they didn't have a huge variety to choose from. I would say they had something for everybody. Aesthetically, the shop looks pretty normal, but the smell of ice cream fills the air, and that's a good thing! I'm a self-proclaimed ice cream connoisseur, so I'm rather picky when it comes to ice cream. We stopped in to Hershey's because we had just left from a Five Guys run next door. Hershey's Ice Cream seemed like a no brainer dessert after a burger. We walked in and they had several flavor options, pints available to take home, cones, cups, and sundae options. I opted for 1 scoop of chocolate chip and 1 scoop of chocolate. Others in my group chose flavors that ranged from butter pecan to cookies and cream. We all took our ice cream home. The chocolate chip was really good, the chocolate...not so much. Since I'm a chocolate addict, I know good chocolate when I taste it, and this wasn't it. It was bitter and left a lingering after taste on the palate. The general consensus among us, was that the ice cream was just average. The service was friendly enough and the options were plentiful, but the quality wasn't good enough for a return visit. read more

In this Craig McCracken Powerpuff Girls analogy, my wife is Blossom. She ordered two scoops of the super premium Peanut Butter Cookies 'n Cream in a deluxe waffle cone (and was thrilled). I, on the other hand, ordered a sundae with Two Scoops of Banana Pudding ice cream, hot fudge, and peanuts. Although my Sundae satisfied, it felt like it was over before I knew it, much like many of Buttercup's rumbles. Meanwhile, my wife savored every lick and crunch as only Blossum could. I came back with my son and sadly nothing has changed! The service is still the worst ever. Teenagers (all 3 of them are RUDE) who do not even bother to greet the customer, say hello or even acknowledge that you have walked in. 1 was sitting, just chillin' on the counter. Yeah, I know, I know, "These darn annoying adults, making me get off my butt and have to actually scoop ice cream." In any event, you have good ice cream, but so what? That's not enough. There's a Carvel 10 minutes away in New Carrollton, a Baskin Robbins 5 minutes down the road, & I can simply go into a supermarket for Haagen Daz . To deal with these teenagers attitudes and their overpriced ice cream simply is not worth it! I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

This place is great for pints, pre-made ice cream cakes or a couple of scoops. I'm frustrated though. I specifically called to ask two questions: 1) do you still sell banana pudding ice cream? 2) do you make custom cakes? Both questions were answered with a firm YES. Well, I went in today to see about a custom cake hoping I could get a banana pudding ice cream cake made. However, I was told they don't do custom cakes even though they have a huge neon sign that says they do. So a firm YES and a neon sign that says "custom cakes" but I was told NO and referred to basic half sheet and round cakes in a freezer. *SIGH* read more

I love this place! The east coast doesn't seem to have Braum's but this place does just fine. They have a great variety of flavors and offer samples of each if you ask. The quality of ice cream is pretty good. They also sell shakes, cakes and sundaes but I am yet to try those. I usually just get the 2 scoop waffle cone which is around $5. Sheesh, pretty expensive. When I walked in the place smelled like sour milk. I should have turned around. I ordered 3 single scoop cones and a small shake. It rang up to $27.00 I almost laughed. All 3 cones were so soft they were on the verge of melting (it was not hot out). The ice cream as usual wasn't great (Hershey's never is) but this place was pretty bad. read more

Their ice cream is just OK. Nothing fancy. They've got decent flavors and are reminiscent of Baskin Robbins. Prices are alright, but the establishment is small and doesn't have the best interior appearance. I couldn't find the health score posted, so I had to pray and hope for the best. I had a sundae with the Caramel Cup ice cream and my friend had a milkshake with the banana pudding ice cream. My sundae got the job done -- she did however LOVE the milkshake. The employee who made it specifically asked her if she wanted it thinner or thicker so I'm sure it being to her specifications helped. I do have to mention that some "sketchier" individuals seem to hang around this place, likely due to the liquor store 2 doors down. My friend and I were harassed for a dollar. The employee had to give the person a dollar to make him leave. When we walked outside that same person was harassing someone on the sidewalk. I wouldn't feel safe coming here alone. read more

This may be one of the worst ice cream places I've ever been to. Although, the staff member I encountered was very friendly and asked if I wanted to try any different flavors. The shop itself looks terrible. There is paint peeling off the walls and looks like it could use a facelift. There were some of the ice cream flavors that had a ridiculous amount of frost on them which was not an incentive to eat there. Additionally, there is no place to sit down and eat your ice cream! No bench outside to eat your ice cream! I think it's a bit absurd to have "carry out ice cream" - but maybe that's just me! read more

This ice cream shop is located on greenbelt road opposite to NASA. It's worth a trip if you live around the Lanham area.! They have a variety of flavored ice cream to choose from. I've been here once and I'll most definitely go back. There were plenty of flavors to choose from. They weren't busy when we went (around 8pm on a Sunday evening), so we were in and out within 10 minutes. I had the cookie vs. peanut butter (essentially cookies and cream with peanut butter swirls), and tried a bite of the caramel caribou (toffee ice cream with caramel and caramel cups). Both are from the premium gold line, which has a higher butterfat content than regular ice cream. Note: there's no seating in the restaurant, but they do have a couple of benches outside. read more

Greenbelt Maryland lost one of its most popular ice cream shops back in early 2000 when Baskin Robbins was shut down. In 2011 the Ice Cream was brought back with newer and improved ice cream. Hershey's Ice cream has impressed me and has made me forget about basken robbins. It has Premium Gold flavor ice cream as well astonishing flavor selections that will have customers drooling. I am very excited Hershey's has come to greenbelt, As if that was not enough, the customer service is a great side dish to the main entree, as they were very helpful in helping me, as well as providing samples of the newest flavors. I usually buy the prepackaged ice cream so I have no complaints about that. I was surprised when I came into the store and no one came out to greet me or anything. I figure let me open and close the door again and then someone finally came out. I forgot to mention I was there for about 5 minutes without no one coming out until I reopened the door. Its a small shop that usually has traffic around the evening. Its a OK place but for the price I can go to shoppers or giants and get more for the price. read more

I use to frequent this place when it was still Baskin Robbins. The ice cream selections are great but for someone who is a bit lactose intolerant, it would be nice to have more milk selections such as soy, almond, or lactaid when it comes to making a smoothie/shake with the non-dairy frozen selections (sorbets). When I inquired what kind of milk was used for the shakes/smoothies the young man behind the counter felt the need to answer in a smart tone. One of my favorite places to get ice cream in the area. All the flavors taste fresh and super creamy and rich. My favorites are the pecan praline and coconut almond with chocolate chips. I went to this place last weekend, I was in love with so many flavors and couldn't decide which one to choose. I tried so many different flavors and all of them were very delicious. Store was clean and staff was very helpful and polite. They have so many different things to choose from like milkshakes, sundaes, smoothies etc. I decided to try banana split with scoops of chocolate chaos, vanilla chip explosin and cappucino crunch with hot fudge, caramel and pineapple toppings. The combination was so perfect that I was enjoying every bit of it. I would definitley recommend this place to others and have them decide themselves about the place. I am glad NOW we have an ice cream shop in our neighbour hood which is way better than the Baskin robbins in beltway plaza mall. read more

When I saw a Hershey's Ice Cream was replacing the closed-up wig shop in Cipriano Square, I was both excited and amused. It does seem like a good match for the Five Guys next door - who wouldn't want to follow up their burger and fries with a cone or shake? However, this isn't the first ice cream shop to open in this location. Before the wig shop, there was a Baskin-Robbins in this storefront... and it didn't fare so well. So it was sort of eerie to go inside and see the counter and freezer cases laid out almost exactly like the B-R had been (what a waste to build an ice cream shop, gut it, set up a retail shop, gut it, and build a nearly identical ice cream shop again). But I digress. Let's talk ice cream. We counted 46 flavors in the cases, plus the pre-packed pints, quarts, and cakes in the freezer. Plenty of traditional things here, but also some nice surprises - seasonal flavors right now like eggnog and peppermint stick, a crazy rainbow-colored vanilla, multiple varieties of moose tracks (including mint), red velvet cake, pumpkin, mango, etc. Some of the names are ridiculous, and you really have to read the descriptions to know what a lot of these flavors contain (muddy sneakers?). But it's Hershey's, you know it's all tasty. It was nearly impossible to decide. I knew I wanted a milkshake (it's what you want when it's 40 degrees outside, right?), so I went with a blend of peppermint stick and chocolate chaos - I didn't want anything too chunky. It tasted good, but the shake had too much milk and was very watery, sort of like chunky chocolate milk. My companion ordered a shake with pumpkin and eggnog ice creams, and it was slightly thicker. I'll certainly be back, since I am around there all the time, and hopefully their milkshake recipe improves. If not, they had several different types of cones, and they also offer smooties, floats, etc. I'm sure I won't run out of options anytime soon. read more

Stopped by here to relive an excellent chocolate shake with banana ice cream today. The background music was so loud the one person serving at 2p had a hard time hearing me. Had banana pudding ice cream, and was told that I would have to add chocolate ice cream for a chocolate shake. Asked if chocolate syrup could be part of it. Nope, just ice cream & milk.
