I finally made it there to dine in! Osaka is one of two extremely close (walkable) sushi joints to my house. A friend was visiting and we decided to dine in. The interior is as nice as I remember, and we got seated immediately. I didn't realize just how much food they have beyond sushi, wow! I tend to love seaweed salad and avocado salad, and I saw that they had 'seaweed avocado' -- I had several visions of what it could be, but decided to order it and be surprised. When it arrived, it was literally the seaweed salad with a whole avocado (I think) chopped up in it. Perfect for me! It has been years since I last got a bento box -- specifically from this lovely food truck in DC -- and I opted for Box B. There are 4 options, all hovering around $20 or so. Mine had sushi, salmon, gyoza, fried shrimp, and more. It was a lot for one sitting -- if I hadn't had the seaweed avocado, I probably could've finished. But my my it was good! I like the care, but yeesh, can a sister eat in peace?? We arrived at 11am and slowly started to see customers arrive and enjoy their food. Glad for some vegetarian options. Nice little place, warm and inviting. Veg bento box was a cool option you don't see everywhere. Their tofu teryiaki is very tasty- a rich dark flavor that's better than most basic teriyaki one gets. Veg Sushi is solid but nut not stellar. We'll definitely put this in our close to home rotation. My friend recommended this spot for sushi so we figured we would try it out. The place looked clean but we were just doing take out. We saw couples and families and friends there so it's good for small or big groups. Our wait was only about 15 minutes which isn't bad for take out so we were happy with the service. I absolutely loved my experience here. It was super cozy and the sushi was great. I came with my partner and two kids under 13. The wasabi was as real as it can get. My group ordered the love boat, spicy chicken and Chicken Katsu. The individual plate portions are reasonably big. The accompanying sides for the sushi boat were well made, it was well seasoned edamame, a great seaweed salad and something I can't recall that had a cream cheese filling but was still the first thing my party had devoured. Everyone was also served miso soup at the start of our meal which was so good, I'm not a fan of soup in general but I had two bowls. The person who served us was super chill, the food was made promptly, I think everything was ready within 10 minutes. We even watched him make the sushi with a lot of care. Even our kids loved it which is surprising when their meal of choice is chicken nuggets and fries. Unfortunately we were the only ones at the restaurant at the time, maybe because it was 3 pm on a Saturday, but I hope this place gets more customers. The maki rolls are a little messy (not tightly rolled) but satisfying. Miso needed a little more "something" but had a good base. Seaweed salad and gyoza are very good. Most everything was good but not great, needing a little more flavoring or umami. Their pricing is appropriate. My biggest complaint is with their tempura: batter is very heavy and dense; dashi sauce needs more flavor, and the veggie tempura pieces don't have much variety as both times I ordered tempura I have gotten only sweet potato as the vegetables (please throw in broccoli, onion, or a mushroom instead of two pieces of potato). My goto place for sushi hiding in Greenbelt! I usually order takeout, I might have eaten there once as I usually takeout. I've only ordered from their sushi/maki menu so cannot comment on the other dishes. Reasonably priced, always fresh food and quick ( they prepare your meal in 15-20min top). As a non sushi eater, my wife has enjoyed several of the Rice/noodle/Korean dishes offered. Which is great for her and also I don't have to feel guilty about dragging her to a sushi joint. This is still my favorite sushi place. My mother and I used to come here when I was a teen. Now I bring my pre-teen son here for some mommy and son dinner nights. My favorite is a chirashi and this is one of the places that still actually puts them in a bowl like the should be. I love how pretty the decorative ones are but it's not how the authentic food is. For a strip mall restaurant the ambiance is pretty good. We ordered a tempura bento lunch special, and chirashi sushi. The bento was large and pretty good. However on the chirashi the maguro (tuna) was frozen, cold and crunchy - I had to soak it in the warm tempura dipping broth to thaw it. The tamago (egg) had also been frozen and was watery and falling apart. The waiter (owner?) didn't ask how our food was. But at the end I told him those 2 things (5 pieces total) were frozen. He didn't seem to care. The price for this lunch was $37 + tip. Overpriced and mediocre. Not going back. read more

I love me some bargains but bargain sushi sounds like a request for some food poisoning. I've been to Osaka's sushi happy hour 5 times (my wife loved to eat salmon and surf clams towards the end of her pregnancy) and I have not gotten sick and our daughter is healthy. Please note: I am not a sushi connoisseur. I really only like Salmon and I think Toro is grossly overrated and overpriced, so you sushi aficionados may disagree with this review. That being said, this place is a pretty good deal during their happy hour (I believe it's from 4-6). Most sushi (salmon, tuna, surf clam, cooked shrimp, etc..) is priced under $2 per piece; I believe the sake (salmon) was $1.40/piece. Food - Can't beat the prices during happy hour. The fish was pretty fresh and its ratio to rice was acceptable. Admittedly, the rice can be subpar at times. If you order $10 worth (which is roughly 8 pieces) you get a miso soup and a salad, both of which are average. My wife likes seaweed salad and she says Osaka's is average. They serve it to you in a fairly large bowl but then you realize that the bottom half is lined with radish. BOO! Service - This place is Korean owned but the service is pretty good. I've not sat at the sushi bar, so I'm not sure how the chefs are, but the servers are ah joo mah's (older korean ladies) and they're pretty nice...though they probably talk about us after we leave. read more
