Please do you research before you go to Herson's Kia. I was in a bind and needed a new vehicle, but I was upside down. I ended up having the negative equity added to the end back in September 2019. Since my payment was pretty high, I wanted to see my trade-in options this weekend. The first Kia Dealership I went to said that they can offer rebates to cut my negative equity in half, but I would have to come up with the rest. They told me that they could not move forward unless I had the remainder. I went back to Herson's Kia to see what they could do. They offered me a great deal at 0% interest and I would pay $100 less a month. The catch, I will end up adding an additional $10,000 to my already negative balance. So I would end up being upside down a total of $27,000. Luckily, I do not need to trade and I can pay my loan off sooner, however, the offer was extremely predatory. To add insult to injury, the finance manager tried to convince me that it was a great deal. He said that I would end up paying less for the life of the loan because it was with a 0% interest rate. The reality, if I have to trade in sooner than the end of the term, I will be upside down $30,000 at the least. read more

I had the BEST car experience here at Hersons Kia than I've ever had at any other car dealership. First off it was very COVID appropriate. Hand sanitizer stations all over. It was very clean and not super small. I came in with negative equity from a terrible car note from 2019 and wanted to trade in my old car for a new lease. (Leasing option is so much better for me than a car note). They were so accommodating. They gave me a great price for my vehicle (very spot on with the KBB value which I thought was impossible since I tried to sell the car back to the dealership where I purchased it and they lowballed me by $8000) I was then able to lease the best car I've ever had hands down. (The K5 GT is soooo nice) My salesman Kwesi was amazing. He didn't make me feel stupid (like most car salesmen with women). He gave me all the options I had available to me. I was able to test drive the car I wanted and he walked me through the entire process. I did not have to go back and forth a million times about the price. I told him what I can afford and he let me know if that was possible. Very simple. No extra shady vibes. Once the price was set, I met with their financing manager Josue who was also very accommodating. He went over any extra questions I had. And even helped me change my address on the DMV website (which he did not have to do). I also met the Sales manager there I forgot his name but he was also very nice and helpful as well. I was there for maybe 3 hours all, test drive included (for me that's a miracle. Car buying is an all day process) Overall 10/10 experience. I'll see them in 3 years for a new lease. read more

I live in the Columbia area and found a used Kia Forte and K5 that we wanted to check out because I thought they were both priced well and we wanted to test drive both to get a feel for which we liked better. I used the chat to get in contact with the dealership and Chidinma, who is the business development consultant, got in contact with me the next morning to confirm the car was available and to set up an appointment with us. She was very quick at responding and also called an hour before our appointment to confirm the cars were still available which was so nice because cars are selling so fast now. Our appointment was at 6:30 and Kwesi was the salesman that helped us. I cannot say enough great things about Kwesi. We immediately felt so comfortable with him. He was so laid back and didn't push us and understood what a big decision it was. We ended up keeping him after the store closed and he was so nice about it. He genuinely wanted us to pick the right car for us and acted in our best interest and it felt like he was on our side. The Herson's Kia group were all very organized and so nice. Joshua Kozlowski is disgusting! In response to my BBB complaint, he stated the following: The referenced vehicle has a history of air conditioning concerns. The first complaint was repair order 24440 dated 12/18/18. The vehicle came in with a concern a/c blowing hot air, evacuate and recharge service was recommended and declined. The vehicle came in on 4/23/19 with the same concern. This visit the customer authorized the a/c evacuate and recharge service. No leaks were detected during that visit however standard protocol is to add dye to the system to determine the leak at a later date if necessary. No other visits reference this concern. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. I replied back via email and still no response. That being said, here is my response: If dye was added for a later date, then why didn't your reps set up an appointment for a later date? Do you really put that burden on the customers?! If it's blowing hot air after two years, then there was a leak. Refrigerants in modern cars are supposed to last indefinitely. Also, on 5/23/19, Mark Adam Griffin stated that replacing the Camshaft position sensor would be $161 before I departed to RIO Lakefront (Herson's KIA insisted I not wait in the waiting room). Hours later, he said it was $261. So disgraceful how these shady dealerships operate! I'll never let you off with this one. You scammers made me waste $180 (plus another $100) for nothing! read more

This is the kind of place that gives all car dealers a bad name. TLDR: Watch a YouTube video of how dealerships scam you, or visit this place. I was in the market for a new car, and contacted their internet sales office. I wanted a firm price before I went in, but it took at least 4 emails before they sent that. They were more interested in getting my phone number (RIP OFF sign #1). Once I received the breakdown of the price, I saw the $995 charge for dealer add on, and the $995 freight charge. The freight charge was already on the Monroney sticker, so adding it in a second time is RIP OFF sign #2. The "dealer prep" was not on that sticker, and was therefore not a legitimate cost either. When I asked about the prep, I was told it es a paint protection package they put on all of their cars. (RIP OFF sign #3) I decided to give them a chance, hoping they could explain the charges as a mistake. My experiences when I arrived leave me to believe they were deliberate strategies to screw over customers. When I arrived, the manager I had been talking to had our vehicle "ready". The first thing I noticed was the $995 "paint protection" added by the dealership. It amounted to some cheap pinstripes and some door edge vinyl strips that were already coming off. For the record, you can buy both of these at autozone for about $30. That's one hell of a mark up. The next thing we noticed was a paint chip, about the size of a quarter, on the car. This chip was severe enough to see primer. Again, more evidence of their $995 paint protection. The manager laughed and said it was a new car and they would fix it. To me, a careless application of paint protection and a lack of disclosing the car had issues before I saw them myself was not confidence inspiring. We did not give this place another chance, and left. We found a more honest place up the road and drove off in a new car that day. When I mentioned to the sales person at the new place where I had come from, he made a face, and said he had worked at Herson's for a very short while before moving on. Stay away from them, and remember, any dealer add ones that are not on the Monroney (aka window sticker) are probably not authorized charges and a sign of a shady dealership. read more

Let me start by saying that my experience with Herson's Kia was the best car buying experience I have ever had. I called on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 inquiring about test driving a used Honda Civic and not only did I test drive it, but they met me outside of the dealership with the car for convenience. My sales consultant was Issac Ulate and he went above and beyond from the moment he met me to test drive the vehicle. I ultimately ended up purchasing the car and Herson's was very accommodating with allowing me to finalize everything electronically. I never stepped foot into the dealership, everything, including them dropping the car off to me in Washington DC, was done with my convenience in mind. This is a STEALERSHIP! Here is my experience, I have been overpaying at this place every visit. Under my warranty I would get ever other oil change for free. The ones I would pay for were coupled with a servicing running upwards of $140. Did I mention that I would bring my own synthetic oil and that there is no carwash included? okay not that big of a deal right?...keep reading. I took my car in for a standard servicing. During the servicing I asked the service assistant what an EPS light was, because I had noticed the notification light a few times. I even showed the tech the notification as I started my car. He claimed he didnt know what that was. I also told him I had been receiving Low Tire Pressure issues. He claimed that I was good to go as the mechanic had done a full inspection and cleared everything and that he would look into the issue with the EPS light. The next day, my Power Steering stops working completely! I take it in the following day with much difficulty expecting a loaner car. The manager tells me 'dont worry we'll inspect the car in 15 min and get back to you' and to wait. The tech comes back to assist me and tells me that my ABS Speed Sensor was cut, and that its not under warranty because I have aftermarket wheels which in his opinion caused the issue. After he found his loophole to get out of the standard warranty fix, he told me I would have to buy the part, buy stock wheels and then pay for the labor charge if I wanted to fix this. Disgruntled I left the car there to get a second opinion, and I had to get a rental (which was not covered). The next day I came back when I had more time and asked the manager to refund me because their servicing and inspection did not catch this issue and yet they charged me $140 for an oil change in which I brought my own oil! The manager declined, and said that his mechanic would not have caught the issue as its not a standard thing to look for loose wires in their 100+ point inspection servicing. He also refused to cover the repair work as it was "not covered by the warranty" when aftermarket wheels are on the vehicle. He proceeded to lecture me on the dangers of aftermarket parts and how its a risk I take. Later that day I went and bought the parts at another dealership which was 100X nicer. They even cut me a discount on the parts. I got it repaired by a 3rd party mechanic. Long story short my mechanic said the story I was told by the dealer was BS. The wheels made no impact to the ABS sensor, and it should have been replaced. Later I had him check my tire pressure for each tire, and they were ALL imbalanced. Expensive lessons were learned: 1.Don't go to STEALERships if possible, and if you need to go to a dealership research the quality of their work first. This place had terrible reviews online already prior to me going. Trying to maintain that precious warranty is not even worth it if they require you to pay an arm and a leg with nothing to show for it. 2. Get a second opinion. The dealership's word is not a law of science. Don't be afraid to get second opinions and contest what's not fair. 3. If you're paying a lot of money for servicing, make sure you know what is covered and what is not covered. Apparently they claim they balanced my tires and did a thorough inspection, and lo and behold I had a christmas tree of notification lights going off. read more

Ok, I am so angry right now I am writing this review. I bought an awesome 2016 Kia Soul from Hearson's Kia in Rockville, MD. I was referred by a friend who actually told me while I was there that they were playing games to leave and I didn't listen. I completed the credit app. online and got pre-approved for financing. I had an offer from another Kia dealer for the car I wanted in a color I did not want. Herson's told me they had the color with the features I wanted. Supposedly it took all day to work out the financing so the sales rep. only got back to me after he had left for the day to say they had everything worked out for me and I could come in now at 6pm or tomorrow. I was coming from DC so waited til the next day when I was at work in Silver Spring. I got to the dealership at 6pm after a long day at work the sales manager Valerie was pleasant and showed me the deals she had work out for me and the price of the car. Surprise it was just under the price of the other dealer. I took a picture of the price and interest rate payment options. I then went into talk to the finance guy and got bombarded with additional warranties and options. I was willing to consider the options but my friend got back to me after looking at the rates they were offering telling me that if they could not do the lower interest rate walk away. I got up to leave and suddenly Valerie was able to get me the interest rate I wanted. I agreed and signed my documents. TODAY, I went thru the paperwork and discovered that the numbers were all different from what we talked about and the picture I photographed and initialed. The finance guy pointed out the signature blocks but never reviewed the numbers. WHAT KIND OF BAIT & SWITCH GAME ARE THEY PLAYING? SO, 24 hrs later I have dealership remorse. Don't buy from HERSON's KIA unless you are alert and have time to spend reviewing your documents every time they change every line. Would do zero stars if I could. Had a service appointment this morning to deal with a braking recall issue on my Kia Borrego. Got a call the day before to confirm (nice -- like you get from your doctor). But when I arrived I was told "We had the part but we sent it to another dealer for another customer so we can't service you today." Hey -- that's a verbal middle finger -- YOU don't matter, in fact we made a choice to not service you as you the customer had called to schedule, and instead service another customer , , , and here's what we'll do for you -- we will call the day before to confirm your appointment and we will NOT TELL YOU WE GAVE THE PART WAY so that you come in anyway so we can disappoint you upon your arrival with a Gee Sorry. Before this -- GREAT GREAT service. I'm sure they felt stupid -- but really, in that situation, the manager as a leader comes out to communicate with the customer , , you don't leave that up to your counter person. Right now, I'm not inclined to use them again. I'll give it time. But as a business person myself -- every customer is sacred. I vote with my wallet all the time and often that means over-paying if I'm treated like I treat others. I'll go out of my way not to unless it's remedied to my satisfaction. read more

DON'T take your business to this dealership. The salespeople easily engage in fraud. Please don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews either. I would have happily given them 5 stars until yesterday. They sold me a car based on lies. I purchased a used 2007 Element for Herson's in May. I test drove the car and noticed that the brakes felt a bit off. When I ask about it, I was told by my salesperson, Erik, that the brakes were new. Not believing that, I asked them to check the brakes before I took the car. I also had them write this on the sales contract. When I picked up the car, I was told by Erik that their service department found no issues because the brakes were brand new and recently installed. Last week, I had the A/C service and was told by my mechanic that the rear brakes were old and needed to be replaced. I have only have this car for 3 months and driven it about 3,000 miles. There is no way I wore out the brakes and not JUST the rear brakes. The brakes were NOT new when I got the car. After getting the run around for days by the dealership, I returned in person. I spoke to the sales manager, Benny. He insisted MULTIPLE times that the brakes were new and that he had documentation because the dealership had paid for new brakes. He went with the original salesperson to find this documentation. About 15 -20 minutes later he came back, told me that the brakes were in fact NOT NEW and since the car passed MD inspection he would not replace the brakes and nothing more would happen. When I asked Benny why he told me the brake were new, he LIED TO MY FACE and claimed he never said that. It is important to repeat, Benny sat with me for an extended amount of time repeatedly telling me that the brakes were new and he had papers to prove it. He said it in front of multiple employees!! I feel that because I was woman, alone, Benny felt comfortable lying and taking advantage of me. I had a good experience buying the car and was ready to recommend them and buy from them in the future. NOT ANYMORE!! Instead of admitting their mistake and rectifying the problem, Benny and Herson's decided to commit fraud and lose out of thousands of dollars in future business. It is very disappointing that I now have to escalate this issue that could be easily solved with the truth. read more

I bought an used vehicle from them and the experience was normal- the sales people are aggressive but that's the norm. The part that I did not appreciate was the service center. I had to bring back the car multiple times for check engine lights and such, most of them were caused by the mechanic who serviced it the previous time (ie: not plugging the air hose back on). Another major complaint I had was the on the repair of my middle seat belt. He might have been a new mechanic or something because the middle seat buckle was destroyed by the time he had replaced it (who knows how...). I felt bad for him because his superior at the service center was yelling at him to hurry the F up, so I just took the broken middle seat buckle and left, feeling pity for the mechanic. It worked with some pressure when I got it back, and honestly I haven't used it for 6 months (never had anyone sit in the middle). I tested it today and it no longer worked, and that prompted me to finally write my review. Herson's has lost my trust and the real sad part is that I have lost my trust in my car because of them. I was thinking about trading it in to get a new Kia Niro with the excellent MPG, but I probably will go to another Kia dealership instead even if I have to pay a few hundred more dollars. read more

The initial experience with them was ok. After I bought my vehicle the pin stripe started falling off. A salesman talked about the issue with the woman/manager at the front desk. Without any hesitation she said it wasn't covered less than 30 days after buying the vehicle. She was very rude and impersonal whereas she was very accommodating when I purchased the vehicle. When I pushed back from her response, she spoke to someone else who without hesitation said it was covered. If I didn't push back, she wouldn't have checked into it further. As she and someone else walked out to look at my car, I turned around and they were making rude gestures behind my back. I was involved in an accident and went back to the dealership to cancel my maintenance contact. The same woman was at the font desk. She didn't speak or greet me. However she stared me down the entire time it took to approach her desk. When I got to her desk she just stared at me without offering assistance or even saying hello. The experience with her was so rude it bordered on bizarre. When I purchased my new vehicle after it was totaled, I took my business elsewhere to king Kia. I purchased a better vehicle for the same price. So, not only were they beyond rude, I over paid for the vehicle. I wouldn't suggest anyone formulate a business relationship with this dealership. I researched every Kia Dealership in Maryland, DC, and Virginia, and they were by far the easiest o deal with, the most fair, and gave me the best price of anyone. I even drove an hour from Virginia just to purchase my car from them. My sales person was Ken, he is a super cool, no hassle guy who is straight forward and wants to help. The sales manager Ron was also great to work with, as was their finance guy Umar. At the end of the day I sent out emails to 20 dealerships in the DC area, and their quote was almost $1000 cheaper than the next best bid. I will definitely be back next time I buy a car in a few years, and recommend anyone looking for a Kia to go to Herson's first. read more

So this has been a review I wanted to be writing deliberately. The day after I bought this I was having heart palpitations and wondering if I screwed myself over big time. Was I ready for a car? Did I really need a car living in a metropolitan area? I didn't want to write a review when I was doubting myself. It's been nearly a month. So I worked with Valerie (manager) and Han Chong (Sales Rep). Han was understanding; I didn't come that day with the intention of leaving with a car, and I let him know that unless some crazy deal came my way, I probably wasn't going to. Valerie spent a LOT of time working a deal out for me. I walked away with a deal I probably didn't deserve, but she was looking at my most recent credit habits and saw that my NOW wasn't reflected in my credit report. (thanks, btw) I had really one option that was mandatory for me: rear camera. Leather seats are nice, but not required. Power seats are nice, but I'll live without them. They were really accommodating and understanding. Valerie ended up getting me a crazy deal (did Han tell her that's what I said? I might have missed that if he had). I can't seem to praise the Herson's crew enough. Whenever I have an issue, there is someone friendly and reassuring to talk to. I appreciate everything that crew has done for me. read more

I have always been satisfied with the service done on my vehicle, the honesty and thorough description of services they go over before starting any work. The waiting room is always clean, and there's always many options of complimentary beverages. And they offer free high speed wifi. I went to purchase a telluride today (03/18/2021) and after my experience I will never go to a Kia nor support their store ever again. After speaking with 2 sales associates over the phone for 2 days, and emailing back and forth with a sales manager, Jazz Santos, I decided to drive the 2 hours to this dealership for the specific Telluride I was going to purchase. While waiting for the final walk out price of the vehicle, after taking note of the MSRP price on the window sticker, which was what I prepared to pay,.. a gentleman came down the stairs from his office, and started whispering and pointing about the Telluride to his sales staff at the finance counter. I overheard this gentleman tell the other sales associates that the vehicle outside (the vehicle I planned to purchase) was marked incorrectly and it was actually supposed to be $5000.00 more than what was listed Due to its Popular Color (Wolf Gray). Jazz the manager I had already spoken to me, came back to my table and started telling me what this other gentleman told him about the price being increased due to the color of the vehicle, and explained that if I chose another a vehicle that was a different color, I would not have to pay the extra $5000.00. I was quite shocked at this point, as I had spoken to 4 people at this point over the course of 2 days, and noone was going to tell me this until I was ready to see my final walkout/purchase price. I explained that this was absolutely not going to happen and quickly pointed out that this specific vehicle already has a charge of $500.00 listed on the window sticker for the specific paint color. It just did not make sense to charge me an extra $5000.00 out of the blue due to the color, when the prince clearly already reflected the paint color. When Jazz went back to this same gentleman to explain, the gentleman made a point to speak loud enough that the whole store could hear him say "I don't care if she f'ing buys it or not". This pricing issue was clearly either due to the fact that I was a female (who had done her research by the way), and they thought that they could take advantage me. However, this pricing issue was clearly an error on their part for not advertising the actual price of the vehicle. I argued that no one in their right mind would have the intent of purchasing something for one price, and then still purchase that item after being told at check out the item price was increased by $5000. Whoever this other gentleman was, was extremely rude, cocky, and wore his arrogance on his sleeve. He made it very clear that he wanted no parts in hearing what I had to say. In fact, he didn't even bother coming to me and answering my questions, he let his staff handle the brunt of the situation as he stood and watched in background. What a poor manager (if that is what he was), and shame on him for hindering a potential sale and screwing his sales associated out of a guaranteed sale over his own pricing error! I know dealerships want to make as much as they can off of a vehicle, and its the name of the game, HOWEVER, not disclosing a price change until the final parts of a sale is Ludacris!! He should have honored it, and fixed his pricing error on the remaining vehicles, or he should advertise that there is potential mark up on certain vehicles. While leaving empty handed (the gentleman would not even considering budging or working with me), the same gentleman was outside and made it a point to make a comment loud enough for all to hear saying "she's just mad because she could not afford the care, and we wouldn't give it to her". I lost my mind and said my peace with all of the potential customers hanging in the background. But that's another story in itself. ALL AND ALL THIS COMPANY WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND I HAVE NEVER FELT SO EMBARRASED OR DEGRAGED. I ended up going to Toyota and spending way more on a brand new 4Runner with everything that I wanted. Had they been honest with me instead of trying to pull a fast one, they may have salvaged the purchase. I have been speaking to an attorney regarding this situation, and intend on following through with their advice. read more

Excellent service. I bought a 2009 Ford Fusion from them recently and it's running like a dream. I would type out all the details but sadly there's a character limit. So here's the main gist: these guys are VERY accommodating. They are pursuant enough to let you know they are still going to work with you, but not overly pushy to force you into a decision on the spot (I would get occasional txts and calls but certainly nothing that seemed like "too much.") Getting my first car was nerve-wracking, and I had so many set-backs: I had limited time during the week to actually go out with my Mom and look at cars, I had to cut my budget from a car price of $12-14k to an "out the door" price of $7,500 max when I didn't get a job I had been waiting to hear back from, and I had to push back my appointments on Mother's Day so our family could go buy flowers for my Mom. Despite all this, Kia Herson's stuck with me until I had a good fit. My main salesmen, Aaron, was very casual and never pressured me. The first time we went in, we didn't see anything too impressive so I just left my name and # and took my leave. Was 99% sure at the time I was never coming back (lol kinda funny how things turn out). Aaron would keep me informed but was never constantly on my back. Even after the budget shift, he worked with me to find a car that would be appropriate for me. The car I was originally going to look at I think was a 2003 Toyota Corolla with 60-80k miles on it. Sadly it sold before I was able to attend my appointment, but the salesmen were able to do some research and found a car I could afford. Aaron was running some errands when we reached Kia again, but his partner Solomon was there to greet us and had the car ready. Again, not a pushy salesmen. He was very kind, patient, and upbeat. He's probably one of the friendliest salesmen there :) The car itself looked beautiful and worked perfectly (all good under the hood too). And with a moonroof, leather seats, and backup sensor, about the only downside was the 102 k miles on it (but to be honest, I was expecting that from a used car...I had looked at some with 150 k miles). The reason I ended up getting the car was because I was able to see the ORIGINAL retail price they had on it. Let's just say, they knocked the price down by at least $1,500. I later double checked with Kelly blue book to see if I had been screwed or not lol. Turns out, with the amenities the car had (even with that mileage), the price was VERY good. I took it into a mechanic, and everything checked out (just had some fluids, air filter, and alignment changed). Because of this, I actually ended up cancelling my 2 year extended warranty (I wouldn't be driving extensively). Mike (the one in charge of the warranties sales) was easy to work with both when setting up the warranty and cancelling it. I did not feel any pressure on me to rethink my decision. So here's my suggestion when you go to Kia Herson's: If you don't see something you like the first time, don't sweat it. Leave them your name and # and an "out the door" price (this makes a HUGE difference for when they calculate the sale). They WILL work with you until you are satisfied. Of course the Toyota Corolla they first wanted me to look at wasn't going to hit the top shelf of my budget like the Ford did (so don't worry, they don't try to gut you for all your worth, I just had limited options with my budget). Otherwise, the salesmen are nice and they seem to take good care of their cars Happy hunting. [Note: I do not know if they are a haggle or no haggle business. Also keep in my mind that yes, they will sell a car on the spot if an offer is made even if they have someone coming to look at the car-but they'll let you know if it sells when you have an appointment. Between the great service I always get from start to finish they always make it a very easy process. Their costumer service is not respected and I don't recommend it to anyone. I went there for the steering wheel cover because it torn. First time they told me that it still works second time they didn't have the cover and order it. Last time they told it will take at least one hour my daughter and I waited there for more than two hours. So my four years old daughter was tired and we waited outside for the car. The front desk clerk came out with the papers and gave them to me with no apologies for delay and went back to the office. read more

This review is for the service side of the dealership. Hands down the best. I recently took my car to another shop because my car had low air pressure sign that would not go away even after putting air in the tire. The "shop" stated I needed to plug my tires because there was a nail stuck in the tire, they were going to charge me $40. I drove by the Kia service and decided to get a second opinion. The technician came back after 10 minutes and told me that there was a malfunctioning part on the tire and he changed it. There was NO nail stuck on the tire. Needless to say, I will be going back because of their honesty and cheap prices. read more
