Hertz at 1 Northside piers in Brooklyn NY was the best car rental experience due to great customer service. Living in NYC my husband and I find that renting vehicle's is better for us. Up until Friday, 3/10/23 we did not have good experiences renting. Fortunately we found this convenient location and had a terrific experience. Our great experience was due to Mr. Remel. He immediately welcomed us and provided us with options that were conducive to our needs. He was not only extremely helpful, but an absolute gentleman. Other customers shared with my husband and myself their experiences, and stated that Remel is one of the main reasons they continue to return when they need a car to rent. For as long as we continue renting, we will be sure to use this exact location. The car was also great! He made sure that we had a safe, reliable 2022 car that got us exactly where we needed to go and back, with 0 problems. I give This location and Mr. Remel, 5 stars!! read more

Worst hertz in the world. Took an hour to get my car and when it arrived it wasnt cleaned. Was told I'd have to wait another hour for it to be cleaned. The nasty receptionist was smacking her food and talking with food in her mouth the whole time. Also looked like she just rolled out of bed. Glad this place is permanently closed. If I could give this place a negative 5 stars, I would. This is the WORST rental experience I've had in my entire life. For a line of 5 people, my fiancé waited in line for TWO HOURS, and they only helped 2 people in that amount of time. TWO!!! The level of incompetence is actually baffling. This location should not be allowed to operate. The sad thing is, the last time I tried to rent here, I remember thinking I would never use this location again. Absolutely ludicrous. I made a reservation for a 2:45 pickup at the Williamsburg location on Dec 31. Had my boyfriend go and pick it up. The manager was awful and rude and refused to us pick up our fully paid car UNLESS we agreed to pay an extra 40$ a DAY ($240 extra for a 6 day rental under the table) then they said they would be able to go and get the car for us (I mean the secretary was literally continuing to change the "additional fee" on a calculator mid conversation.) This is illegal. Another girl was there Danielle who wasn't able to drop off her car after customer support assured her this location was open. They also said they could allow her to drop off her car again for an EXTRA FEE. This location is scamming people and giving the broader name of Hertz a bad reputation. This is Deceptive Trade Practices and will be looking into this further. read more

Worst rental car company ever! Rented a tesla and was charged over 100$ in charging fees plus the recharge fee when I brought it in and NOTHING was explained to us about superchargers. It is now a month later and the bills keep adding up! Stay away from there with your credit card! read more

They don't care, they're so used to renters being mad at them that they have a cut and paste response to not accommodating. Don't waste your time, seems like the only person there didn't want to be bothered. I was waiting for more than half an hour only to be told can't rent with temporary license from DMV. I confirmed with DMV when I got the temporary license and they said yes, you'll be able to rent a car while waiting for replacement license. Hertz said no. Went over to Enterprise and they got me into a car in less than 15 minutes. No issues or reservation. I will be taking my business to Enterprise from now on. read more

If there was a way to choose terrible, I would have chosen that. We went to the location where we were to pick up our van and there was a sign telling us to go to another a few blocks away that was a Hertz Rental agency. We went to that location and there was already a line. We were only the fourth or fifth people in line, but we waited two hours to actually get the van. We did not get what we rented. We rented a cargo van and got a moving truck. The truck was not clean. It only had a half a tank of gas. They charged us hundreds (yes hundreds) of dollars more than the original contract indicated. This was the worst rental experience I have ever had by far. If you have ANY options, please try to rent somewhere else. Even if the rates are higher somewhere else, you will probably end up paying less because of shady business practices at this Hertz/Thrifty. read more

Booked into a 5 passenger car with room for 4 suitcases but when I arrived they put me into a tiny Nissan Bolt. It wasn't big enough and they didn't have anything else to offer me unless I doubled my rate. I had no choice but to cram the 4 of us in 3 seats. For the past 15 years I used Enterprise. I drove across country with their cars twice. They charged me a drop fee of $1000 along with the weekly rate. Twice. And I almost stupidly rented from them again. Until they told me the drop fee was 2000 dollars. I said, no more. All this to say my wife turned me onto hertz that I didn't even know was still in business. They treated me like a king in Marina Del Rey and Williamsburg Brooklyn. And we drove across this country with our two dogs for $316. STAY AWAY from Enterprise. It used to be my go-to car rental company. Now it's my get-away company. I don't know what happened to this company, but after almost two decades later I realize this rental company took me for a ride and not a good one. Not only did I overpay twice, but they never rewarded me with my miles. 6000 points worth of rewards. They had one excuse after another. If you just want a car for a day go to Enterprise, I suppose. But if you're keeping your car for a week and if you're driving long distances, go to Hertz. Unlimited Mileage, easy drop-off, great service, and no drop fee. read more

Never go to this location or probably any Hertz in the 5 boroughs. I made an appointment online and was confirmed for my reservation. I even went to the location because I REALLY WANTED TO CONFIRM MY reservation. The lady at the desk even asked me for my confirmation number and another lady standing behind her even asked (seeing the information for my future appointment on their computer screen), "oh yeah, it's on the 29th, right?" "Yes!" I replied. I felt good. When my departure day arrived I headed to Hertz. What was greeting me were 2 signs that stated that this location was closed. I was given no phone call or warning that this was happening. I mean was I not there last week in person confirming my reservation? Hello? I even checked my reservation in my wallet app. Well gosh darn it what do I see left as a footnote on my reservation? The footnote says that this location is closed but please stop by our other two locations to pickup a car. Um, no. I went immediately to Enterprise in Park Slope. Quick and easy. Never never choose Hertz. Oh and by the way as I stared at the "we are closed" sign with my mouth hanging open (while wearing a mask ty) two people came up wanting to drop off/return their cars. Okay where do I begin. If you are choosing a car rental place. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT purchase a car here. We booked our rental with Expedia ( so normally we used a debit card) When we arrived at the site the man named Guillermo stated we needed a credit card to do this transaction. Our credit cards were maxed because we put the money on our debit cards. They literally gave us such a hard time using a debit card. (Which didn't make any sense because money is money ) and get this you guys THEY STILL ENDED UP CHARGING OUR DEBIT CARD THE ENTIRE AMOUNT AFTER NOT GIVING US A RENTAL. The customer service here is extremely terrible, both of them were jokes to be honest. I had the displeasure of dealing with a Guillermo and a supervisor named Adrianna. I was frustrated and honestly didn't care to be nice anymore so he mentioned to me my attitude. (Mind you guys my boyfriend was there . calm the entire time. no attitude. nothing , so if they felt as if they couldn't talk to me they could have talked to him.) Now I've worked with disgruntle clients for 7+ years and the first thing I've learned was to not take anything personal. I guess Guilermo missed that training. Fast forward to the rudest supervisor walking through the door. Her name was Adriana and I'm not sure if she intended to help or not but she definitely provided no help and made the situation much worse by telling us the OPPOSITE of what Guilermo said. Guilermo said to cancel our reservation to get our money back so we can put it on the credit cards. The supervisor stated she said not to do anything with the reservation . Both of them didn't know what they were doing or what advice to really give. Long story short we ended up not getting a rental yet our card was still charged the entire amount of the rental. Don't use this location ever I booked a SUV and when I arrived they told me they don't have so they gave me a car instead then the car they gave me I realized after I left that it smells from drugs so I called them if I can exchange they told me that I cant I can only go to the airport for what I was not able so I stayed with then when I retuned it they charged me 400 dollars damage fee for the smell. read more
