I was told by the finance manager to bring my pay stubs, bank statements, and other documents for a car they said would be on hold for me the next day. I had an appointment and $1500 for a down payment; only to be told the car I was interested in was sold! I went there because they were offering a $350.00 Healthcare worker discount. Complete waste of time! How can you tell someone the car was sold on Sunday, when I spoke to Julio on Monday including a test drive, and scheduled an appointment the next day to buy the car. After 6 months I have yet to receive my license plates for a van I purchased from the hertz Albuquerque location 7710 Lomas BLVD 6 months ago. Purchase date February 2nd 2022. I have reached out to the sales team every month. With each call, the team reassured me that there were no issues, that my plates would be arriving soon. May 2nd, 3 months after the purchase, I was informed that there was indeed a hold up as the van had not been smog cleared for California. I then got the smog taken care of and sent back to the Albuquerque location, with the promise and reassurance that my plates would arrive in the following four weeks. It is now two months later---6 months in total)---and I still do not have my plates. During a phone call to the location manager on Tuesday June 28th, Manager Ken Otero was completely unaware of my situation. He assured me that since he was now the one handling it, that it would be straightened out. Ken has not once called to update me on the situation. He has sent one email to a Courtney Johnson in title and registration, who has not gotten back to him. Ken is no longer taking or returning my phone calls. I am extremely frustrated with management, corporate, and Hertz as a whole and I can confidently advise against purchasing a vehicle from this location, or from Hertz. read more

This review is specific to the rental office at this Hertz location. We arrived early on a Monday morning to pick up our reserved car. Gavin, the customer service associate was handling ALL the customers--fielding nonstop phone inquiries AND a long line of customers waiting for their rentals. It was incredibly busy--but he didn't lose his kind-nature and professionalism for even a second. I honestly don't know how he made such a challenging morning so painless for every single customer he dealt with. His humor, consideration, intelligence and extraordinary competence was astounding. I've never felt so well assisted during what was clearly a challenging scenario. I was renting a car from Hertz and the battery would not hold a charge. After waiting on hold for roadside assistance for three hours altogether (and counting!) and receiving conflicting information from six different people, I've learned that there's basically nothing Hertz can do to get me on the road again. Janet K. BUYER BEWARE!!! I WAS PRE-APPROVED, and had a purchase agreement. Get this: There's apparently a secret policy to sell a car right from under you!!! He said it was first come, first served. EVEN IN THE MIDST OF A PURCHASE THIS IS THEIR POLICY. He NEVER told me about this policy. I have been working with Julio Marquez to purchase a car and there was never a doubt that I was buying the car. My kids went to look at a car on Thursday 8/22/2020 and I contacted him immediately that day. Despite his slow responses, he finally sent my bank a purchase agreement late on Friday. The bank did not have time to complete the money transfer and would have to finish on Monday. I told him I didn't want the extra $2K warranty and he needed to send an updated purchase agreement to the bank. (Since this was so nasty, I can only assume they found someone who did buy the warranty which gave more commission perhaps.) Keep in mind my bank was waiting for his final purchase agreement Monday morning and they would release the money straight to Hertz. First thing Monday, I reminded that he just needed to send the purchase agreement to the bank and he would have his check. He called me back and said he had sold the car to someone else. Horrible location in a old mobile home. Booked an SUV months in advance, only to be told when we arrived that they had no suv's. What's the point of making and reservation when they are not going to provide you with the vehicle you reserved? I know of a Seinfeld episode they need to watch. Avoid at all costs! This location doubles as a car dealership and as a regular car rental place. This location also specializes in insurance replacement cars. It is disorganized and complete chaos. It is in a cramped building with no place to park outside. I booked a rental online only to wait an hour for them to tell me that they didn't have an available car the size I booked. The manager called one other location to look for a car for us and there weren't any available. She could not tell us how long it would take to get us a car and did not offer to upgrade us. She also let other customers cut in line and was having long personal conversations when there were lots of customers waiting. I cancelled our reservation and booked elsewhere. I am a young adult who didn't have a car. I found Hertz by honestly just stumbling across them and I am so unbelievably glad and grateful I did. I met Phil on a Wednesday and by the next week on Friday (today) I walked out with a car. He was amazing, he took such good care of me like my dad would if he were my car salesman. He made me feel safe in buying a car with them and not like he was out to get my money and that's all. The staff there was great and Margo was phenomenal. Everyone there was so nice and sweet and I was not once looked at differently or down on because of my young age. Being that I had already previously gone to Drivetime and checked out a local dealer and was given a weird "we don't know if she's serious" treatment Hertz immediately had my buy in when I walked in and we got straight to business. Thank you so much Hertz and staff but most importantly thank you Phil and Margo for making this experience so smooth and easy. I've seen some sketch reviews on here about these guys so I just had to share my story because they are definitely not the people they are made out to be in those bad reviews. So I got a rental car through our AAA service and got a good rate. I found out later that the day we were coming in they close at 12 so I was very concerned since our train didn't arrive till 1145 but they made arrangements to have an Uber pick us up and waited for us. Our train got in an hour later but Justin was awesome and waited for us. It was a very difficult day considering their phone system had gone down as well so Justin gave me his cell phone number to contact him. He was so great about waiting for us. Made a rent to buy reservation yesterday for 5:00 pm, had figured it would be ready by that time. Went to pick up vehicle at that time, rental person there told me it was ready to go. When I looked at the vehicle it was far from being ready to go, it was dirty and had not been detailed yet. So I was very disappointed, was very much looking forward to driving the vehicle it looked very nice on the outside. They would not release it to me because they said it hadn't been detailed. The rental person told me that it would be ready the following day. Here it is the following day and no one has notified me that the vehicle is ready yet, tried calling to find out status of the vehicle today, talked to a lady named Karly, she was very rude and unprofessional and would not let me get a word in edge wise. So now I am very annoyed because I have not had a vehicle for a month now and they are treating me like if I am a nobody. I was willing to give them the business, but, they are acting like they do not want to sell the vehicle. So I am thinking that I will never call them again and I will never recommend them to anyone I know. This was the worst experience I ever had renting a car. We walked in and after 10 minutes, a totally disinterested branch manager came to the counter and without making eye contact started punching in our reservation in. We told her that I was going to be doing most of the driving and she tried to charge us an extra $14 a day even though we made that clear when we originally reserved. Then she aggressively try to push the insurance on us and I told her three times that I was not interested. Finally she looked up from her computer and said that she was terminating the transaction because she did not like my attitude! Prior to that we were joking around with one of the car sales people there about Florida and his prior construction career. It couldn't have been more cordial. The branch manager, Ms. Gamboa literally left us stranded in Albuquerque knowing we had to get to Santa Fe for a family event. Suffice to say, I contacted hertz and lodged a complaint. This rating is a bit complicated, since the actual service at the location was exceptionally slow, with the car I had reserved not available, and there was much difficulty in finding a replacement. However, as time dragged on, they kept throwing more and more discounts at me, until my rental cost was reduced to almost nothing. So, I'm willing to acknowledge that everybody has a bad day once in a while, and give the 4 stars based on the deal I got. I appreciate when a business will admit to lousy service, and compensate the customer adequately. I would give this place another chance, based on the fact that the original rate I booked online was far less than competitors. But, be aware that frustration is possible. read more

I was quoted $24.28 a day plus tax. I turned in the car Saturday, giving the keys to a car sales agent (Julio Marquez) as instructed by the office manager Karley. I asked for a receipt to show that I turned in the car and Julio Marquez replied he could not give me one. I asked his name and he said "I take no responsibility for the car you returned." When the charges showed up on my credit card, I called this location to inquire why I had been charged $45.42 daily rate plus taxes. The manager, Karley, told me I would have to call billing, which I did, and Hertz Corporate billing department refunded the overcharge. In summary, this location was not one I will return to again or recommend, but I will try another Hertz location since the corporate billing representative corrected the charges. read more

If the option was no stars I would give no stars. Yesterday I returned my car. The employee was very rude and disrespectful. I was yelled at I felt belittled and the customer service was disgraceful. I was there for twenty mins waiting for my receipt. The manager had to tell the employee to go to the back in which I hear him throwing stuff and saying some poor choice words. When I asked for the corporate number from the manager the employee walked out of the back and threw the number at me. When I asked his name he told me and said a racist comment. Counter people are useless, as Hertz is in general. They can take reservation but they can't keep the reservation. Then what's the point of a reservation? Don't waste your time. There are plenty of other rental companies. Enterprise folks were much more professional. read more

My rental car was arranged by State Farm. Hertz required a $50.00 deposit on my bankcard and since I only had $3.12 in my account, I called my sister to put $50.00 in my bank account. I had cash but Hertz would not take that, they had to have a bankcard with my name on it. She was kind enough to do so. When I rented the car they let me know that there would be a $50.00 deposit and that State Farm was paying for the balance. The $50.00 would be refunded once the car was returned. When I called my bank later that evening there was a $100.00 charge on my account which was now overdrawn. Upon calling Hertz on Saturday not a single person could reverse the additional $50.00 charge. Not very helpful. Don't be surprised to see a scene in the screenplay I am writing about this. I am still waiting for this to be corrected buy no one knows how to do so--not corporate nor the location where the car was rented. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. I have learned my lesson to stick with Enterprise instead. I had a reservation for a car rental. I was running a little bit late and was going to make it to this facility just about closing time, so I called to confirm they would still be there. I got on the phone a very rude employee who emphasized that she would not work with me unless I got there 5 minutes before closing. Very stressed out, I asked her to please be willing to provide me the car that I am paying for if I showed up during their opening hours. When I arrived at 6 pm on the dot, the door was locked and the employee was gone. It almost appeared that my phone call had backfired such that I had forewarned her to leave so she wouldn't have to deal with me. The men at the attached Hertz car sales office told me it was her first day and that usually they didn't leave that early. They told me I could head to the 24-hour Hertz counter at the airport to pick up my reservation. I went, and discovered that was not true.
