DO NOT RENT AT THIS LOCATION. The most horrible customer service. The Manager Associate Liam Loubser has NO answers to any of your questions. I was promised a shuttle service drop off after returning the car but when I got to the rental location, neither Liam nor the shuttle driver was present. Finally I had to Uber home without any charges coverage by Hertz. It doesn't seem like the manager Matthew cares much about what goes on with the employees either as both Liam and shuttle driver left early even though the location is supposed to be open until 5. A third guy was the only person was present when I dropped off the car who called Liam to say "I got a really mad customer here" right in front of me. As if I was being unreasonable. Is this the way to talk to people???!These guys all need a lesson in customer service 101. They even charged me for additional authorized driver even though it is free for Gold members. Nowhere on the website does it mention that a minimum of 3 rentals with the Gold membership is required. So scammy. Now about the car, they had very basic models without the common features found in any 2022 car. No CarPlay or Android auto which is built in feature for most rentals from other companies like National. Save yourself the trouble and get a rental with another company. read more

I'm a gold member with Hertz. Just now tried to rent a car with a prior reservation and was told I'm on some suspension list. I was given a number to call which was never answered..just listening to a repeating msg that says all reps are busy...for over 30 mins now....no option to get a callback. I'm sorry to see the earlier bad reviews because I had a completely different experience. I had to rent twice within one month and both times I had excellent service. Monte, Jessica, and Liam were all very professional. And the staff to customer ratio is a lot better than at other car rental locations, e.g. in other cities. This location has much better rates than the airport and it's not that far from ABIA. I'll always bring my business to them. read more

Even as a gold member for almost a decade, they wouldn't rent a vehicle same day without a credit card. Debit credit they wouldn't take. This is the worst customer service for a Gold Member. In February I was in need of a rental for a business trip to Houston as we just have one family vehicle. It just so happened that it was also a bit of a storm in north Texas so everyone was out of rentals. I was able to secure a reservation miraculously on the website. I understood the outrageous price (about the price for a week for 2 days) due to the shortage. When I arrived I was the only customer there yet they kept me waiting for an hour, almost to closing time. When the manager did tell me the car was ready she said the air in the tire was low but no big deal as she had filled it. They all but rushed me out and locked the door behind me. I got in and immediately noticed white dog hair (black interior car) and what looked like dog scratches on the dash. It looked like someone had it for a month and took their dog with them on every trip. I was desperate and knew there were literally no other cars in town so I took photos and then drove home. The next morning I had to leave before 6 am. I barely got out of my neighborhood and the tire pressure light started blinking. I made the decision then that I wasn't going to risk my safety taking that vehicle. I went back home, rushed to remove car seats, and took the family vehicle, knowing it meant my kids would have to miss school that day. I just kept the car parked in front of the house. I called hertz as soon as they opened that morning to say that I couldn't use the car, that they could have it back and I would make some sort of arrangements (maybe Uber or friends who knows ) to drop off or they could pick it up if they can offer a discount. They offered me 15% off my next rental. I said that was a useless offer as I never intended to rent with them again. The manager became extremely combative, rude, and raised her voice with me. I was just trying to get a discount on the over $300 price for a days' rental. They knew they gave me a crap car that wasn't clean or in working condition but they didn't care as long as they made the money. To add insult to injury when i did return it -timely I may add- they not only offered zero discount they charged me a $100 cleaning fee! It was on my company's card so I was not aware of the charge until later. Even though I did not incur the charge personally I will not only never go to this hertz again but I will never rent from any Hertz again. I'm not the type to leave a negative review but I don't want anyone else to go through what I did. You've been warned. Never go to this place! read more

This review is for Hertz rent a car in general, not a particular location. We rented a van in California for a move to Texas. We got a great price, and felt we had a wonderful deal. This was when the covid 19 epidemic was very bad in California. We went to the location in and it was a small trailer with a couple of employees. None were wearing masks or taking social distancing in any way serious. We completed the paperwork and hurried out of there as we are high risk for the disease. Once we got home, we realized that the front tires were bald. We called back and were told that we could get another car in Sacramento 1.5 hours away. This was not an option for us. We asked if we could just put two new tires on it and be reimbursed. They said yes but to find a place that would take cards over the phone. In the town we live in, there was only one tire store operating during the epidemic. They would not take cards over the phone so we opted to pay for the tires and just be reimbursed. We made the trip with no problems but once we got home neither of us wanted to have to return it to another unsafe location. We requested that they have someone come and pick it up. The sent a tow truck to pick it up and had us put the contract and the receipt for the tires in the glove box. They did charge us for the tow which was no problem. This all happened around the 1st of April. We began receiving calls telling us that our vehicle was extremely overdue and to contact them immediately. We did, explained it had been picked up by their tow company, and were told that it would be taken care of. About a week later we received another call telling us to return the car, again we spoke to someone. This happened three times. We thought we were done until we received a letter in the mail telling us that the car was going to be reported stolen if we did not return it. I made a final call letting them know exactly what I would do if the police showed up at my home looking for a car that had been returned on time. I haven't heard from them in a couple of weeks. However I just got my credit card bill and I was not reimbursed for the tires that we put on the car. Now I guess I have to begin that battle. When you need to rent a car, do not try to save a bit of money by going through Hertz. You get what you pay for, and the hassle is not worth the little you save. We should have gone with our regular rental company National and had the security of knowing that we would get a car in great condition and a company that has a lot more sense that the bozo's that run Hertz. read more

Honestly have never felt so disrespected or completely ignored. Booked and received a confirmation for a car via a third party. The airport location also confirmed the car would be there, unfortunately not so when we arrived at this particular Hertz location. We were greeted by one employee who started the paperwork, charging our card, and checking the license (just about ready to hand us keys)when another employee walks in and tells him to stop. She says there are no available cars for us because the ones they had left were for reserved customers (hi confirmation number right here). So somebody who would potentially walk in after us would be guaranteed a car, but me sitting across from you is now careless? We thought it was strange, but asked for options. They said cars were due in soon and that we could wait in the lounge area until one arrived. So now my little family of 5 is waiting around for a long time without any update, so I decide to go check in on status. Apparently they just disregarded or completely forgot about us sitting there waiting and not only said there would be no car at all for us today, but quite possibly for the next two days! They were so rude and nonchalant about it all. It was so upsetting and unbelievable. Do NOT try to get a car from them. read more

Excellent experience! They were fast and I received top notch customer service. What more could you ask for from a car rental location? Just be aware when renting from here that, if you're coming from the airport, it's about a $25 cab ride and it's located on a car dealership. But for the price and service it's still worth it. read more

Don't trust the word of reps or the pricing they state. Better yet go somewhere else for good service. My husband and me had a rental reservation through them due to an insurance claim. Our insurance stated they would be willing to pay 40 per day. This was to include taxes and extra charges. Hertz offered us an upgrade for 1.5 per day plus sales tax on that cost. The total would be around 18 dollars for the 12 days. Yet when we turned in the car we got charged 120. It took 3 days and a manager (Nubia) hanging up on me to get any answers. The answer is Hertz deceived us and went against what they told our insurance by placing us originally in a vehicle that would cost 40 per day before taxes and service fees. Leading to a left over amount of 101 prior to the upgrade charge. When confronted with how they charged incorrectly they told me to contact our insurance. Our insurance is trying to assist but Hertz refuses to even hear us out. read more

The staff was very nice but not helpful. When I called to schedule a pick up, they said call back and we'll see if we're busy. When I told them I need a vehicle that was larger more like a truck because of the angle of the seats and my back they said you have two choices- both compacts or smaller. Neither worked. I asked when I might be able to get in a truck they said call back everyday and see if we have one. The salesman never offered or explained gas refill options so I thought it was covered by my insurance. After two hours in the small car they gave me, I was in pain and contacted enterprise up the street. I returned the vehicle. Was charged $13 for an eighth of a tank of gas. No offers to find a truck at another lot and no apologies for not explaining how returns through insurance are handled. I will not give them business again. read more

This location is led by liars, or should I say Hertz in general? They overcharged me about $450 because of a lie/misconduct on their end about 6 months ago. I first talked to their location manager, my insurance company, credit card company to get the charge disputed. Hertz dragged their feet to provide documentation needed until I missed the filing deadline. When credit card company advised me to file a claim with Hertz corporate office, their office said an investigation had already been done and closed. There, I realized I had been lied to again because I had not been contacted or notified of the status even though I'd been assured the area manager would reach out. Now the location manager who lied/caused the overcharge is no longer with the company, the area manager who is fully aware of the situation lied about investigation/took no responsibility, and the corporate office sided with the misconduct/refused to conduct an independent review. Hertz customers are left at the mercy of chains of unethical behaviors... read more

Sales person lied about what coverage my insurance would cover. Stating if I wanted to be fully covered I would have to purchase their insurance. After being told other wise by my insurance company I tried to get a refund from Hertz and stop payment. The main office was more then understanding and said they would return the amount paid after the rental was over. They said they could not make the return with a open account or stop the additional insurance but after it closed I could get full refund. Now that the account is closed they are saying I never talked with any one and are refusing to come through on what they said would do. read more

Don't rent a car from Hertz. They ripped me off for 570.00. Worst experience I have ever had in my life with a car rental. They pulled 490.00 out of my bank account plus kept my 80.00 deposit. They sent me a video saying they found an ash after I seen the money pulled from my account and called them. I don't even smoke. Nor did anyone get into the rental besides my grandchildren between the ages of 5 to 12 years old. I talked to the assistant manager named Edward Green. He did not care that I told him I did not smoke. I left the rental at the body shop where my car got fixed. They couldn't tell me what time they picked it up. Edward said he was the assistant manager at hertz. He was very short with me. I'm so upset because of all this. The video he sent me was short all that was in the video was Edward Green saying he found a ash on floor board where I sat in drivers seat. Then in video he also said an ash in crevasse of back seat and an ash on side where door is. An ash really. It's all bs. Like I said I don't smoke so I don't know what he supposedly found. I will never ever go there again and will let everyone know on Facebook as well how sorry Hertz is. It's a rip off for sure. Maybe he thinks he got over on a woman. I'm sure all they did was shake the mat off and probably pocketed the money. I'm not for sure that's what he did. But I know I did not nor do I smoke. He even said it was probably someone I let drive the car. I was the only person that drove the car and I only had for a week. I have never had a problem like this before. I will for sure go back to enterprise with my business. So please beware. I was ripped off and I can't do anything about it. Should have taken back to hertz on Shelby Lane off the motor mile where I picked it up. I guarantee you they wouldn't have gotten away with this if I would have been present. So zero stars for them. I only have one plan left to try and get money back is corporate office. I doubt it though. I wonder how many people have been ripped off. Don't go to Hertz on Shelby Lane in Austin. Please save yourself some money and don't go to Hertz on Shelby Lane off the motor mile in South Austin. read more
