I came on June 2, 2023. The place was so busy, but Brittney handled it like a pro!! Brittney had 4 people waiting when I walked in. She was awesome!!! She took care of every one of us!! She made sure we didn't wait too long, she made sure to talk with everyone who was waiting, and she made sure to be friendly and inviting in a very stressful situation! I feel that this location needs more help, and they should hire more people. But Brittney definitely deserves a 10 all across the board for her customer service, good attitude and friendly demeanor!! Hetrz better watch out, there is not a lot of people out there like Brittney and someone (namely me) will try to steel her away from the Hertz company!! You do an awesome job Brittney!! I would give 0 stars if I could. Apple Maps shows they are open till 6. They close at 5. That said they allowed me to make a pickup reservation at 5. Which I showed up at 5.05. They said they were closed. Then they said they had no cars. Then they agreed to give me a car but refused to allow me to use a debit card or Apple Pay. And they were rude about it. I feel badly about writing this review. I'm rarely disappointed but feel I have the responsibility to warn others. Both Vanessa and Javier are nice but the company is not honest. Because my car was in the shop 1.5 blocks away at Kee's Auto Body (excellent!!!), I used Hertz. Both Vanessa and Javier, on separate occasions, said policy was to pick up the rental at Kee's when the car was repaired. On the day of my contracted car rental return, I notified Hertz, Concord in the morning of the car rental return, left the rental car at Kee's in the afternoon and drove off in my car. I got 3 monthly bills later from Hertz claiming the the car was returned 3 days late. After each bill, I called Hertz. Each Hertz representative agreed the extra billing was wrong and that the problem would be resolved. Nothing happened because I continued to get bills. A collection agency contacted me. Worst rental experience I've ever had... made an appointment to pick up my truck at 11am. That truck ended up needed an oil change so they sent me to a different location. The truck at that location had bald tires which wasn't too fun to drive in the rain. By this time it's noon but they insist I still have to return by 11 at that location. I bring it back at 10 and now they say I have to return to the original location even though the guy said to drop it off there the day before... if I don't the rate will increase. I rented a car on Friday, first I called and spoke to Brittany to see what was needed, and to make sure she had cars. I guess it was a busy weekend. My Martinez lots were sold out. Talked to Brittany she was helpful, let me know that they had, she was 75% sold out. I was on my way, I got there Brittany asked if she talked to me earlier, I said yes! She said she had been holding A car for me. I knew they only had a few vehicles. The process was quick and Brittany was friendly and worked with knowledge and professionalism. Awful, awful rental company! Rented a car that the agent jokingly called 'The Brick' and I'll admit, it did well all the way up to WA and almost made it home. About 30 miles short of our destination, cruising at 70 mph, we heard a big POP! and the car started swaying. Got it pulled over, thought it was a tire blow out but ended up being a plastic cover on the underside of the engine. It had come loose and got stuck. OK, stuff happens, we're alive, yeah! We call Hertz, and ohhhhh, too bad it's 4:30p. Can't do much to help. Pity you didn't break down earlier in the day. After multiple calls, they were willing to send a tow truck out but couldn't guarantee that we could both ride in the vehicle....really? 2 people is just too much for them to transport??? We're in the middle of nowhere and I guess we get to flip a coin to see who gets to ride and who gets picked up by the ax murderer....great! Oh yeah and it'd be a 2-3 hour wait. So screw that, we call our AAA service, they're there within 30 minutes and WOW!! we both get to ride. What a treat! We called back & have Hertz pick the car up from our home, glad to see it go. So all is well, we're happy we weren't hurt, put the mess behind us until we get a letter from Hertz... and get this. We're being charged for AIR. They said that a tire was low and there was a $30 fee to fill it!! I was livid. We almost die because of their negligence, we use our own tow service to get home and now they want money for such a trivial thing? Not that I even believe it to be true but how the hell would I know? We were broke down! I don't expect perfection but anyone can rent you a car. Probably the most frustrating experience I've ever had when dealing with a rental car agency. Serves me right, I guess, for not going with my trusty Enterprise peep's. Anyhoo, 1st issue is that the address is incorrect. It is actually in the Toyota dealership on the second floor. 2nd issue is that there are NOT enough people working there to properly run the place. It's hardly the associate's fault, but I had to wait over an hour to get a car. Ridiculous. Then, because I'm going to be out of town for three days, I wanted to suspend the insurance during that time. I mean, why pay $40+ when I'm not even going to be using the car? But they insist you come in to the office. I understand, to an extent, but I tried to go into the office before work and they've got one guy working the desk. ONE GUY on a Friday morning, which I would expect to be a peak time for them, but goodness forbid they spring for some extra manpower. Needless to say, I had to leave before I was late to work. So now I'm stuck paying $18 until I can get in there to sign the bull---- that I need to sign. That's like 3 days worth of Panera for me. To be fair, the people there are perfectly friendly, but they really need to reconsider how they run things because it makes their customer's lives seriously frustrating. read more

So, this email that we just sent to Hertz customer care says it all. This is the local Hertz that we got the car from. "The dealership that our car was from gave us a Hertz rental car when my car broke down and needed work done. We had multiple issues with the rental car that we ended up with and with the local Hertz that we picked up the car from initially. I am going to list the issues that we have experienced with Hertz below. - The initial rental of the car was incredibly difficult and after being called and told our rental was ready for us, we still had to wait at Hertz for three hours while a car was brought in from a different location. - The rental that we received was not properly cleaned before given to us, and we emailed Hertz customer care, who emailed back, but gave no solution. - We had requested a different rental of equal size, and waited over three weeks for Hertz to "call us back" , which never happened. - We get a call saying that the authorization is overdue and that you need a new one. We ask Hertz to call hyundai for the authorization and they agree. We also call hyundai and leave a message to ask for this to be done - On the day of our wedding (yay us, right?) our rental car broke down. When we had almost arrived at our honeymoon vacation, the car started flashing warning lights and driving erratically. - We called Hertz roadside who told us to take the car to a Hertz 10 miles away in the morning. - 9AM In the morning, (day one, of our two day honeymoon) we called that Hertz, and were told that the nearest Hertz that we could take the car to was an hour and a half away and to call emergency roadside again for a double tow. - 10AM we call emergency roadside, and are told that we will get a call back in 30 minutes and would be brought a new car within two hours. - 11:30AM We have heard nothing, so we call back and are told that... the tow truck driver who is supposed to be bringing us our new rental, then taking the old one, is 120min away. and would not be bringing us a car, but would just pick the car we had up, take it 1.5 hours away, get it checked in, then drive 1.5 hours back to us with the new car. - 12PM We call back asking for a status on the tow, and are hung up on. - 12:20PM We call again and a very nice woman has no idea why we were told either of those things, but the tow truck would be there at 2:20PM -We wait, still stuck in our rental house, with no food, or a car to leave. - 1:50PM We call and get a rental from a different company, and are transported to their facility and pick up a car. - 2:20PM We call and cancel new rental from Hertz because we are on our way (50min lyft drive) to pick up a new car. - 3:30PM - WE HAVE A CARRRR! Not from Hertz, but we are super happy because we got to eat for the first time that day at 4PM on our honeymoon... - 4:11PM - Hertz calls us, saying the car is ready to be picked up at the crystler dealership. - 6PM - Hertz calls again saying that the car was not serviced because the crystler dealership because they didn't have permission to see what was wrong with the car. But Hertz asks if we have car, and can bring it to them in Santa Maria. We say no, obviously and tell them that Hertz towed it to the crystler dealership so it is no longer our responsibility. - The next day (Day two, of our two day honeymoon), we get six calls, from different people, asking where the car is. - two day later, we get a call, asking where the car is. - A day later, we are obviously home now, with our four children. But we notice we have been charged $600 from Hertz, without notice, or a reason. - We call Hertz customer service, and are told by an incredibly insensitive and unprofessional "supervisor" that we will get a call in SEVEN business days to follow up. We ask him repeatedly to connect us with him supervisor and are told that he is the only person we can speak with. - We call back again and are told by, probably, the same "supervisor" that it is our fault and that normally they should have reported the car stolen because the car was overdue and that's why we were charged $600 without being told. We are left on hold for 10+ minutes multiple times over two calls and are told that we should have called them to follow up when the authorization ran out, even though Hertz said they would call Hyundai and handle it. So, 5 days post getting married, here I sit, on hold, still, writing this email in its entirety while that "supervisor" sends us an email with our signed contract stating that we agreed to being charged $600... but who knows if that will happen, since I am still on hold right now. We want: - Hertz to refund the entire $600 in full, immediately, and our $50 deposit. - To have this email sent directly to Hertz corporate office. - For the Hertz customer service "management team" to go through empathy, and customer service training." Shuttle was late picking us up, the guy checking the rental out was an absolute jerk, and car was FILTHY inside and out and it stinks of ammonia. Although they'd been open since 7:30am and we didnt get a car until 10am we were told non-apologetically that "We didn't clean the car." I'm never using Hertz again. read more

Although their location is a rundown, almost spooky looking building near Concord Airport (where there are several), I got helpful service from Prejon and the rest of the staff. They gave me a number of price options, and didn't try to force the extra coverage on me. You can prepurchase the fuel and save a few bucks, plus unlimited miles are included with the rental. Ask your car repair shop if they offer a free or discounted rental cost and they can be flexible on that as well. Two extra bonuses that aren't mentioned; free local shuttle, and a $25 discount on a future rental by completing the online survey after you return the car. Good reasons to come back! read more

I wish that there was a way to give negative stars. I have never been to a more nonprofessional corporate environment. The manager of the location acts as if he is the owner of Hertz himself. All of his staff was rude to the customers and to be honest were too friendly with him. Seems like they have more of a girlfriend boyfriend relationship then an employee subordinate management type of relationship. I rarely have rented a car, so I'm not really able to compare this to other places. My review is just my experience this one time. My car was broken into, and my insurance included a rental car. I called this one, which is near my house, and they sent someone to pick me up pretty quickly. I was worried I'd get some cheap gutless wonder for my $25/day max allowance, but they said it would be a decent car. And sure enough, it was, to me. It was a 2016 Mazda3, with nice extras like bluetooth that was easy to connect to, keyless ignition, and a 32+ mpg avg. Had decent pickup, quiet, proximity detection in side mirrors, backup camera, blindspot warning for turn indicators, etc. OK, my car was a 2002 Acura TL that runs great but has none of these extras, so I enjoyed driving the car. Return was quick, they didn't even really look that hard for scratches or anything. I immediately got a ride to the body shop where I could pick up my car. No problems at all. The only nit was that the side mirrors and some of the windshield were not very clean. I didn't really notice it at first, so it wasn't really that bad, but I think it was just cleaned in a hurry, and the mirrors especially were a bit smeared rather than cleaned. read more

They act like they aren't really there to work or help you... super young adolescents that care more about talking with each other than helping customers. It's a lyft office as well so it's packed all day. I understand they are probably overworked and underpaid but customer service and professionalism should be thrown out. Absolutely horrible customer service. We flew in via jet suite, made a car reservation over a month ago, when we arrived the car was not ready. Car needed to be washed and gassed up. The individual we dealt with had terrible attitude and told us if we didn't like it to go somewhere else. We rent cars all the time for business and NEVER have we dealt with such unprofessional behavior. This location is absolutely horrendous. If a reservation is made the car should be ready to go at the time stated. Additionally, the last thing we should be subjected to is attitude from an employee who is not only incapable of being kind when I asked if there was another class of car ready but also tells me if I don't like it go someplace else. I originally reserved a car at the other Hertz location in Concord but they didn't have the car so they drove me to this location. So they rented me a car full of crumbs in the front and back seat. I asked them if they could clean it out. The rental agent came out to see how bad it was like I was over exaggerating or something. I wasn't in a rush when I got to the original rental location but after a hour, now I'm in a rush. After they clean it out I begin my trip. I noticed the gas was under a quarter of a tank and thought that was odd. I rent cars from hertz all the time and never rented a car with this low on gas. I've gotten a half tank before but not one under a quarter. I took a pic off it just in case with the mileage. When I returned the rental ( at a different location because it was a one way rental) with the gas at a quarter of a tank the agent said it was supposed to be returned with a half tank of gas!!!!!!!! Luckily I took a picture of it for proof or I would of had to pay like $50. Ugh!!!! So unprofessional and undertrained. Plus there was condoms in the middle console that my 4 yr old found. Why have a online reservation system and when you get to the location you have to sign in on a sheet of paper and wait 3-4 hours before you can leave out the door? I had a very poor experience with this place back in July. I had decided to move on, but the experience itself never ends. I just found that on my credit card, there's a charge for driving their rental car over a bridge. My car went into the body shop for repairs, so the body shop made the reservation. My experience included no car ready when I arrived, and not the type of car I reserved. Then they told me they could have a car sent over from their other location on Monument. Then they left to drive over to Monument and retrieve the car. In all, I sat and waited 1 hour 5 minutes to pick up a rental car. Then the car was filthy, and the service man did not how the seat or steering wheel adjusted. I started to demand another car when I figured it out myself. They told me verbally they only rent 2010 or 2011 cars - this was a high mileage 2009, with blown out radio speakers. When I returned to leave the car, they left a little handwritten note on the door that they'd gone out and would return soon. No one at Hertz explains this or warns renters about this.... the car is equipped with something called PlatePass. There is a tiny sticker in the window that says that the car has platepass, with a fastrak logo. I had brought my own fastrak with me. When I noticed the sticker, I stored my fastrak away, relying on platepass. PlatePass is $15.00 to cross the bridge! $5.00 toll, $10 fee!!!! And it doesn't show up until several weeks after the rental. Look around online and there are dozens of consumer complaints about PlatePass and Hertz... and no other rental companies, so there is probably a relationship between the two companies. So, not only was the rental experience pretty awful, but the expenses just keep coming. read more

Then when picking up my vehicle and paying they confirmed what I am paying on daily rate, but did not inform me that the car had to be back at the same time of pick up at 8:00am, even tho my online appointment said I could eetuen vehicle by 12pm. Thus I was charged for another full day. Maybe if it didn't take me an HOUR to get checked out on pick up then I would have had time to read the receipt, paperwork. When I mentioned this when paying, they said it is not up to them to tell customers what time to return by to avoid another days charge, but suggested next time I make the reservation by calling in so they can tell me the policy. What the fuck is the difference between telling me on the phone when I make a reservation and me standing in front of you with keys in hand! Shady corrupt business practices at Hertz. Last year, I had an airbag recall and had to wait 8 months for the parts to be available. In the interim, Toyota sent me to Hertz and I have nothing but praise for Prejon and Bria. Both are caring and professional people who ensured that my experience was positive. At times when Lyft was using their facilites, there were longer wait times. Honestly I am glad it will be settled (it won't be done until its in my account), but I should not have had to take it to this level to get my money back when it was not even my fault to begin with.
