    Absolutely the worst!!!!!!! We had to bring in our original rental to exchange here since once we left our original location the car had so many warnings going off and we did not feel the car was safe to drive . Oregon location first of all told us over the phone it would be an easy exchange it was not we were there for almost an hour . The guy at the counter 1. Cancelled our original booking 2. Rebooked and merged 2 separate reservations so it made our car rental for 10 days . 3. We saw the mistake on the receipt then claimed he couldn't fix it and we had to call customer service 4. Made us create a new reservation. 5. We went through 3 cars before giving up they were all dirty 6. 1 car had left over fast food bag on the back set, 2nd car the dashboard was sticky as if some spilled a soda all over it . 3rd had left over room key & water bottles in the back . 7. Charged us $147.32 for fuel for full tank even after the "manager" claimed they would waive it as the reservation had an interruption, original car was brought back with half of tank so even if we did have to pay for fuel at most $60 -70. We've had hertz for years and have the president's circle and when I tell you they don't give a living shit about it they don't. We've never had this many issues with other companies cars and going forward hertz will be the absolute last rental we'll look at.

    My reservation that I was told they could not honor by Carl J Renter. Thank God for another rental car co. Saved the day.

    Don't expect ANY help if you leave something behind in the car. They are the opposite of helpful. Won't be using Hertz again anytime soon.

    Head to the counter first…read more After landing at EUG (I know you read that review) and picking up my luggage from carousel #1, I walked about 30 yards to the National counter. EUG is so small there's no separate car rental garage. Just one person at the counter asking you what type of vehicle you desire. I'm an Emerald Club member so I get to chose. A plug in for National, join the Emerald Club it's free and you can earn free day rentals. You definitely need to read my SFO National review to understand this. The rental vehicles are right out the airport door. Cross the street and look for your number stall. Just make sure to check for dings and a full tank. Overall five stars. It can't get any easier to get a rental from here. M

I used a truck from this location while my truck was being repaired in a body shop. When my truck was ready for pick up from the repair shop I called Enterprise on a Friday afternoon to see if I should return the rental to their lot or if I could leave it at the repair shop for them to pick up later. The Enterprise employee from this location told me on the phone I could leave the rental in the lot of the repair shop and they would come get it, AND they would state in their system I had "turned in the vehicle" and would no longer be responsible for it. So I left the rental in the repair lot, had the folks at the repair shop do a walk around of the rental to confirm there were no damages, got in to my own truck and drove away. I'll note there was an easy option to just drive the rental a couple miles down the road to return it to Enterprise directly if they had said that was protocol, or I could have done the swap on Monday to Enterprise. I was excited to get my truck back and get back to normal life so I opted to leave the rental and move along. The rental was retrieved 5 days later after an Enterprise employee drove past the repair shop and noticed the rental parked there. When they finally come to retrieve the truck there was damage to the back of the rental that was not there when I "turned it in". Enterprise does not keep a record of their phone conversations with customers so there was no proof of the conversation. This would have been a good one "for training purposes". I spoke with the manager about my frustration and he assured me this was not uncommon and he could clear things up. Enterprise held me liable for the damages. When I went to the lot to see the rental and the damages, the truck had already been sent with another customer so I was unable to see the damages myself. Apparently in the small print of the agreement, a renter is responsible for a vehicle until it is returned to an Enterprise lot. Ok, that makes sense, and I could have easily done that. BUT, when an employee says a rental can be left at a different lot, and a customer won't be responsible for the rental anymore, and Enterprise will come pick it up, don't believe the lie. You will be held responsible to the fine print of the agreement and be liable the damages.

After I sent my photos, documentation, and email, they promised to respond within three days, but it's been over a week and I have not heard from them. I'll attach the email I sent. Dear Hertz Customer Relations, I am writing regarding a rental of a Jeep Compass from your Eugene Airport location, which I had continuously from March 8, 2026 through March 20, 2026, across multiple rental agreements and extensions, including Rental Agreement Number (RA #) 3293057. Vehicle: Jeep Compass 2.0 AWD Rental Location: Eugene Municipal Airport During this rental period, I experienced concerning issues with the vehicle's performance. On March 15, 2026, when I returned and entered into an extension of the rental, I specifically informed Hertz staff that the vehicle did not feel right when accelerating and handling, including a noticeable jerking sensation in the steering. I requested a different vehicle due to these concerns. I was advised that this behavior was normal and was told that similar vehicles perform the same way. It is possible they believed this was related to a driver-assist feature such as lane assist; however, I was still instructed to continue driving the same vehicle despite my concerns. On March 20, 2026, while driving to work, the vehicle suffered a tire failure, leaving me stranded and requiring roadside assistance and towing. The vehicle did not have a spare tire, only an inflator kit, and the sealant was ineffective due to the severity of the tire damage and exposed cords. Upon inspection, Les Schwab determined that the tires were unsafe, with significant inner wear and exposed cords due to alignment issues. I have documentation and photos confirming this condition. This indicates that the vehicle had a pre-existing safety issue and should not have been rented in this condition. Additionally, I had already reported abnormal performance prior to the failure and was instructed to continue driving the vehicle. As a direct result of this incident, I also lost a full day of work. I am a Federal Employee with a scheduled shift from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a requirement to complete an eight-hour workday. Due to the breakdown, towing process, and subsequent vehicle replacement, I was unable to complete my scheduled hours and therefore lost income. Following this incident, Hertz replaced the vehicle with a Ram 2500 pickup truck. This replacement has significantly higher fuel consumption and created additional burdens, including the inability to park in my designated work parking garage, resulting in out-of-pocket parking expenses. At the time of the replacement, I expressed concern about the fuel cost and practicality of the truck. I was informed that it was the only vehicle available and was advised to return on Sunday to exchange it once more suitable vehicles became available. As a result of these circumstances, I am requesting the following: A full refund of the rental charges for the Jeep Compass from March 8, 2026 through March 20, 2026 A full refund of the rental charges for the Ram 2500 replacement vehicle provided following the breakdown Reimbursement for additional fuel costs incurred due to the replacement vehicle Reimbursement for parking expenses incurred as a result of the oversized replacement vehicle Additional compensation or rental credit reflecting the safety risk, inconvenience, lost income, and overall disruption caused I trusted Hertz to provide a safe and properly maintained vehicle. Being unknowingly placed in a vehicle with unsafe tires--especially after raising concerns--created a serious safety risk. I would appreciate a prompt review of this matter and a fair resolution.
