Had a car on reservation and they didn't have it when I got there, they gave it to someone else. Asked for another car they had in stock by request and they gave me something completely different. If I could give this location less than zero stars I would. I made a reservation (which apparently means nothing). I was dropped off to pick up the car, as I go inside there were 2 employees and they looked at me like I was bothering them. One finally said, "what can we help you with?" I proceeded to say I had a reservation. The gentleman said, "We don't have anything." Naturally, I asked why their system allowed me to make a reservation if there was no inventory. The woman rudely said, "it's automated" I said,"if it's automated then wouldn't that be taken into account with your inventory?" Then she became even more rude and said," no it's automated" Ok so clearly we were not on the same page of what "automated" means. So I said, "Do you mean the system lets you make a reservation whether there are cars or not & she said, "yep... you should have called to check" What?! Avoid this location if you value good customer service and a clean rental vehicle. I reserved a vehicle online and went to pick it up early June 2026. The first employee I spoke with showed me the car and I asked if there was anything slightly larger available. I made it clear that I was willing to pay the difference. He immediately told me there were no larger vehicles available. However, another employee overheard the conversation and pointed out that a larger vehicle could be provided if I was willing to upgrade. Within minutes, she showed me a larger vehicle that met my needs. Unfortunately, the process of changing the reservation took nearly 20 minutes because the system wasn't working properly, and the employee handling the transaction seemed unwilling to ask for assistance. By the time the paperwork was completed, I had already spent a significant amount of time waiting. Things got worse when we walked out to the upgraded vehicle. The windshield was covered in dead bugs, making it obvious the exterior had not been cleaned. When I politely asked if the windshield could be cleaned before I left, I was told that Hertz "only cleans the inside of vehicles" and "never cleans the outside before renting them." When I questioned that policy, I was told I could wait another 30 minutes if I wanted someone to clean it. At that point, I had already been at the location for nearly an hour and needed to leave. As I started to drive away, the explanation I had been given didn't seem right, so I went back inside and asked the other employee if it was true that Hertz does not clean the exterior of rental vehicles. She immediately told me that was not true and arranged to have the vehicle cleaned. Remarkably, the car was washed and returned to me in less than five minutes. What should have been a simple pickup turned into an hour-long ordeal involving conflicting information, poor customer service, unnecessary delays, and a vehicle that wasn't ready to rent. The only reason this review isn't one star is because the second employee stepped in and resolved issues that never should have happened in the first place. If you have other rental options nearby, I would strongly consider them. This was easily the most frustrating rental pickup experience I've had, especially when all I wanted was a clean vehicle for a family trip. read more

This is the rudest, most unprofessional environment I have ever seen and experienced in a long time. At 4:15 pm, there was one worker at the front desk taking care of 1 customer when my husband and I walked in. 6 people were waiting in total. After waiting for 20 minutes with no service some "dude" came out from the back. He may have been the manager (I hope not). He raised his voice from behind the desk and asked who was next. We said that we were next. He then asked us loudly (the whole place is small) and unprofessionally, "Are you same day?" The question was ambiguous. Did he mean were we getting and returning the car the same day or were we renting today or what? I said that we were trying to book a car days in advance. None of that mattered because he was neither trying to listen to nor hear what we wanted. He kept over-talking us and repeating , "I'm out of cars. We're out cars" like an idiot ass; and proceeded to tell us to go to the airport to rent a car NOT KNOWING THAT WE LIVE IN FRISCO AND ARE NOT VISITORS! I had a same-day reservation at the Hertz Rent A Car in Frisco, and I explained to the manager, Gabriel Gonzales, that I urgently needed a vehicle sooner because I was trying to attend my aunt's funeral. His response was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic human empathy. He flat-out said there was "nothing he could do" and suggested that I go somewhere else. Despite there being 20+ cars visibly available, I was forced to wait nearly three hours simply because I did not want an EV. To make matters worse, after making me rebook the reservation the same day, they then told me I needed a physical card for same-day bookings--information that was never mentioned upfront and only shared after I had already waited for hours. The entire situation felt intentionally unhelpful and poorly managed. I almost forgot that they falsely accused 350+ of their customers for supposedly stealing their vehicles who were subsequently arrested & jailed. They almost went bankrupt in 2020 & then had to pay out $168 million dollars in a lawsuit to those 350+ people that they falsely accused in 2022. Your customer service is the worst! We rented a car at DFW airport on Thursday 3.28.24, 5:30 pm to drive to our son's house in Wiley, TX, 50 minutes away. When we wanted to use the car the next day the battery was dead. They first told us to get a ride to the nearest auto zone (20 minutes) to get the battery in our key fob replaced and return to our car to see if that would work, and then call them back if it didn't. We did that, outraged mind you. The new battery in the key fob didn't solve the problem. We jump started the car with our son's cables and drove it that night. The next morning the battery was dead AGAIN! We called again, and they said, all the local Hertz outlets were closed, so if we needed a replacement battery, they could come and jump-start the car and we could then drive it to a shop to have the battery replaced or repaired, while WE waited. We then asked for them to simply replace the car and that they should make any necessary arrangements to get the car with the dead battery removed and repaired on their own time and own dime SINCE IT WAS THEIR CAR THAT WASNT WORKING! They said that wasn't possible. They said we could just live without the use of the car until Monday and have it towed back to the airport, and we can ride in the tow truck along with the car and state our "case" to the staff at the airport!! We called again and they told us another alternative was that "WE" could take car to one of their partners shops to get it fixed, "while we waited. We had plans with our family for Easter, so we couldn't do that and had to take an Uber. Furthermore, on the SEVENTH unsuccessful call, since we rented thru AAA, they said that we could call AAA to have the battery recharged and if it was not working to be replaced. Called AAA, came really fast said the battery was gone and could be recharged but couldn't hold the charge! We called Hertz again and they wouldn't approve the installation of a new battery or reimburse me for it! Could you believe this service? Told us that we have to call tomorrow Monday and get car towed and hopefully get the car replaced because they don't have access to their reservations to a location near us! Unbelievable! What a waste of our vacation time. We have two case numbers: 240115546, 0240116952. We're providing the numbers here because we cannot believe that no one in management can help us remedy a situation that is obviously NOT OUR PROBLEM! The saga continues on 4.1.24, we scheduled service to recharge the battery for the 5th time, and they didn't come at 9:30 as scheduled, they arrived at 8 am! What's wrong with you guys? Not only that,, the engine started but we're not ready to leave, so if we wanted them to come at the time scheduled, WE HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA CHARGE? Seriously? Never in my lifetime have I seen anything this horrible. At least 12 people here after closing who have been waiting since 2pm or longer. Was there from 4-8pm when I finally was able to get the lady to take photos of my car after having to intervene in her checking out other people who got there hours after me. The gentleman who arrived at 2pm left at 7:45pm. My vehicle smelled of cigarettes. No sense of urgency, no process, 2 people working haphazardly whilst chatting with customers about vacations and random conversations allowing interruptions all day long. Someone was there in a suit on his way to a funeral which he was late to. You could have ubered to the airport and flown to Houston faster than this process took. You would be better off going to pick up your car from the airport I had to wait and an additional one hour and 30 minutes for my car because it had not been cleaned yet. Apparently the facility was waiting on the car to be returned from the original renter to move forward with the cleaning process because they don't allow you to drop off the car overnight. So you end up axing for an early pick up and you won't get it because they're not gonna be able to accommodate that request due to the policy that they have in place. Overall I ended up returning the car to the airport to avoid the issues of needing to go back to the silly after wasting so much of my time. read more

Reserved and paid for a mini van 2 months in advance, called 2 days before to verify and was told "we should have one available" Should? I was told to call that day and if one was not turned in they could get one from the airport. We arrived at 4:00 to pick up car, waited 75 minutes in line and was given an SUV. No explanation no apology. Also the car was dirty, we were told we could clean our selves and get reimbursed for it or wait even longer for them to get around to cleaning it. I Only two people in the office. OnE wandered away and didn't return. Long line of people. When I finally got someone's attention, he tried tto rent me a much smaller car for the same price as the suv I'd reserved. When I pointed out his mistake, he said "I'll comp the gas! Return it empty". On return, the "manager" (she was the one who wandered off) told me that no one was allowed to comp gas and I'd owe $10 a gallon. Absolute sh*t show here. Location: BWI Airport. I would rate them a 0 star is allowed! Worse experience EVER! We had a pre-paid reservation and when we arrived, offered us to upgrade. OK - we are on vacation why not? The clerk charged our credit card 11 times for the upgrade and hold amount for a total of $3,839! Yes, you read that correctly - $3,839! We were told it was a glitch - BS!! It took 6 full days for it to clear. So much for money to spend on vacation. Will NEVER rent from Hertz again. When we were taken to our car - the spot was EMPTY - car was GONE! So what should have been a very easy and quick transaction took about 30 minutes. I'm not able to rate this place lower than 1 star; if I could I would. The agent who we had the bad luck to speak with had absolutely no empathy, and there was no one else to speak with. My father in law who is 64 years old, a President's Circle member of Hertz, was trying to rent a car, after having reserved a car in advance and still waiting for an hour only for someone to attend to him. For some reason his credit and debit cards declined. I was in my car waiting for him and he came out asking if I had a card on me because the agent inside was being unhelpful. I, then, went inside. I wasn't carrying my wallet, so when asked if we could use my Apple Pay, the agent said they couldn't. I offered to punch in my card details into the card reader and he said they needed a physical card. My father in law called his card company while he was there and while the card company (who said there was nothing wrong with the card) was on call with him, per their advise, he requested the agent to try either swiping the card or try processing the card one more time. The agent refused. When asked why, he said per policy he doesn't have to. When asked what policy, he said if a card declined twice he could refuse service. When pointed out that they were two different cards that were tried and per the policy he quoted there was still one more try, he blatantly refused service and said we should leave and he didn't want to business with us. This agent had absolutely no empathy for the situation an elderly person, as my father in law, was in and had no sense of customer service to suggest options he could try. Both my father in law and I have consulting careers and between the two of us we have rented cars a zillion times cuz we travel for work on a weekly basis, and this is one of the worst customer experiences I've had to see happen and my father in law had to go through. Not only are the staff AT the location rude, aside from one of the reps, but both of the rentals I have had in the last six months have had issues. I only used them for a second time because it was promised to "make it right" from how ghastly the first trip went. During the first trip, they gave me an OLD dirty Corolla with a broken seat back. When I tried to get this fixed, the customer service rep hung up with an "I don't want to do this today, call back Monday," leaving me stuck waiting two days to replace the car. They then tried to replace that car with one with 0 AC, which I obviously did not leave the lot. I ended up with a Ford Edge, but it smelled so badly of smoke that I had a headache the whole time and had to buy a bottle of spray to lessen the smell. I was promised a free tank of gas that was not made good. I also needed to extend the rental, but they refused to do so over the phone. Online wouldn't process, so I returned to a location to extend the rental. They then charged me over $300 for two additional days, almost the same as I had paid for five days. Insane. They then waited over a month before charging my card an additional $50 for tolls. I added the vehicle to my toll tag, so this should not have been possible. It took me fighting and calling and providing proof from July to the end of August before they refunded me PART of the toll, and then I had to fight with the Texas toll to get the rest. The second rental car was fine enough, but it needed an oil change before returning it. Now they are trying to pull the same crap with the tolls and fraudulently charge my card again. This company is not trustworthy, not reliable, and will screw you over at literally every turn that they can. Not a single employee who screwed up in either of these scenarios has been held accountable, and if you travel far from the location you pick up, they refuse to properly take care of you because they know they will not be held accountable. I do NOT recommend wasting your time or money. I will be sending my business to Enterprise in the future. read more
