Brandon and Adam were very professional on my rental and return. I think my complaint is with the way Hertz will accept a reservation request and confirm it even when there are no cars available. none. zip. nada. The solution is apparently to make a reservation and then call the location before coming over to see if they actually have the car you reserved. Sad but true. Live and learn! I will be very careful renting with Hertz in the future. Brandon was nice and professional when he told me there were dozens of reservations and no cars at all. What could he do? Well, he rented me a massive, huge, gigantic full-size heavy-duty Ram 2500 truck! Hey, I like adventure and this qualified! I got to drive this beast, very carefully, around New Orleans for a few days! What fun! I even parallel parked on Magazine Street! What a challenge! I didn't put a single ding in it and I did my best to avoid the infinite number of potholes in the roads around here. It rode like a tank and drove like a tank. The biggest challenge was actually getting into it! My wife is a strong tough sweet cookie as she climbed up there no problemo! It's high off the ground! I on the other hand, suffering with sciatica pain, had to experiment until I found a way to use my left foot and leg to climb up. This is the second time that I have placed a reservation for this place and they have had no cars available. They offer me an upgrade but it's not free. You're going to pay full price and it's usually a $200 increase. I do not recommend this Hertz location if you go with Hertz at all I'll do my best to call customer service but they're probably not going to help cause they told me there was nothing they could do last time. read more

I would give less than one star if I could. Got to Hertz with my confirmed reservation only for them to tell me they had no rentals. Did they notify me before I paid for an Uber to get there? Of course not. O asked how to get my deposit back and they couldn't help me because "the rental time had already started". Even though they did not have a car available to rent to me. if I could give 0 stars, I would. Booked a car weeks in advance to drive to Georgia and received a notification the morning of my pick up that there were no cars available. Immediately called the rental location and Whitney answered with an "I don't give a crap about your problems" attitude. She was extremely unprofessional and her voice was dripping with attitude as she basically told me this wasn't her problem. Whitney should not be working at this location or really anywhere that is customer facing as she does not have the skills, the personality or the knowledge to do her job. I was left high and dry by Hertz, scrambling to find a car because they could not honor a reservation I booked directly with them. I went to rent a vehicle for 2 weeks and they only accept payment from credit cards. They do not take payments from bank cards or bank credit cards. They need to make that clear on their website before someone reserves a car and tries to pick it up, just to be turned away. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE. Worst experience I've ever had at a Hertz car rental. I booked in advance, was guaranteed a Tesla Model 3, took a Lyft from downtown New Orleans, and was told when I arrived that they had no cars whatsoever for me! Not even a pickup truck, SUV, compact car, or anything else. There were certainly cars in the lot, but they refused to honor my reservation. This was despite my having President's Club membership and having rented at Hertz locations across the country every month. Worst of all, they did the same to at least 2 other renters when I was there. AND, when I asked to speak to the manager, the lady in front pretended the manager wasn't there, despite the fact the manager was in the back office, in plain sight. Worst of all, they refused to take responsibility or even think that it might be helpful if they called people ahead of time to note that there were no cars for them. Lazy, unsympathetic, unhelpful employees. If I could give zero stars I would. I rarely write reviews and rarely for negative experiences, but I'm doing this as a public service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If I could have put zero stars it would have been too much!!!! I should have read the reviews prior to choosing this location. First of all, the vehicle was in my opinion OLD (4yrs to be exact) with 72K+ miles, smelled like urine, and the back seat shook uncontrollably and made noises that I thought would stop once I had my three adult size teens sitting back there but NO. I still tried to make the best of it due to it being Spring Break and heading out of town that day I picked it up. Well, here I am on return day, and just received an email receipt with a "Return Change Fee" of $10.00. I get it, it's only $10, but to me every cent counts!!!! So I call and speak to the manager, Brandon, to ask what this fee is and he states all vehicles are charged this fee!!! Well, it would have been nice to be told up front or better yet included in the booking confirmation that states clearly.....Total/Balance Due!!!! Which I explained to Manager Brandon and he said he and his staff inform all customers of this (BS) and that it is on my receipt Total Estimated Charge. Maybe they've gotten new management or maybe I don't rent cars that often so don't know the difference. They were helpful even though this is one of the craziest weekends with so many people flying into town for fest. I had a rental arranged for by an insurance company, when I got there the intermediate wasn't available so they upgraded me to a full size at no extra cost, total time spent was like 20 minutes most of that going over the car and making sure to point out where there were scratches and bits where the bumper had kissed another car. Car was signed out and I was on my way quickly. I'll update this review if the return goes as well when my car is fixed. read more

Booked a van for personal use (vacation rental) months in advance. Got an "Early bird special price." Upon going to pick it up, was given several options for additional insurance coverage. I asked how much more it would cost, she said there were good, better and best options. Good would be a charge of $29.99 more. I haven't rented cars very much, so I agreed. Seemed like a good price. Later, she informed me she'd be charging my card $250 or so for something. She said it so fast and in such a low tone, I almost missed it. I said, "wait, back up please, for what?" She said, "The insurance." - I didn't realize until this point the extra coverage was PER DAY. Definitely not clearly explained and I almost missed that. I brought my husband's license to add him as a driver, but was told I could not. I would need to return with him to add him l, b/c he needed to sign. - Very aggravating. Had to return with husband, delaying my vacation leave time by almost an hour. Upon return to Hertz, she took his license and information and quietly mumbled something about $94 being charged to the card for the extra driver. I said again, "wait, what?" She said, "Yeah, there's a charge per day to add a driver." Something about because I "wasn't a Hertz gold member and hadn't accrued any points." I wish she had mentioned a charge per day for an additional driver when I was there the 1st time. Never mind. Anyway, we leave with the van -- our way to Disney. I get a phone call from Hertz about 15 mins later just to "let me know" that if I allow my husband to drive and something happens, it won't be covered. - "ok," I say- "Well, I rejected additional insurance - so it wouldn't be covered anyway, right? " Also, just to let you know, "My manager said, if your husband was driving and got pulled over, the police could take the van - if he's not an authorized driver." Scare tactic?? Overall, I give my experience 2 stars because the customer service rep was not clear on what "extras" cost and I felt like she was intentionally trying to fast talk the extras in a mumbled low tone of voice- in hopes I wouldn't notice as to what I was agreeing to until it was too late. Van rental - Chrysler Pacifica - no problems with the vehicle. However, upon return, a week later manager was kind of cold and unfriendly (1/5 for customer service). read more

Needed to rent a car for the week with the Uber partnership program and we made a online reservation and drove 1:15 hours to get there only to be told they already have 50 people on the waiting list to get a car that I already had a confirmation number for and I will have to wait at least 2 weeks to get a car. I realize now we should of called but we just assumed after several emails from Hertz everything was in order but apparently they don't have there systems together or we were just plain lied to. I'll make it brief but I could honestly write a novel on our horrible experience here. The car was filthy (trash from the previous driver including empty food containers and the tan upholstery was covered in black stains), the tank was barely 2/8th full, tire pressure was low and there were two service lights lit up on the dash, one of them I'm sure being for the low tire pressure. I didn't want to take the car, but since insurance was covering the full cost I couldn't just go somewhere else without getting the okay from them first. So I took it just in case so I didn't get stuck with no car. When we returned about an hour later to return the car the manager told us "we would have been happy to clean the car but you were in a rush". We told her we thought the cleaning was just an exterior wash and maybe a vacuuming, but we feel like trash should be cleaned out of a car upon return. When I asked her "what if there had been food left in those containers?" she didn't have a response. She also had nothing to say about the tire pressure, near empty tank or the service lights on the dash. As soon as another employee walked in the room she turned and went back in her office without a word. Not a single apology for the poor condition of the car. We then went to Enterprise on Lapalco and were promptly greeted and given the same make and model car that was almost immaculate ( just 2-3 tiny stains on the upholstery that were smaller than a dime) compared to what Hertz gave me. There was already a full tank of gas as well as proper tire pressure. Oh, and the car was properly maintained as there were no service lights on. read more

The half a tank really didn't bother me, it's the trying to charge me for the full tank when I returned it. I didn't even get a proper walk through. First and last time renting from them. read more

Employees are very rude and dishonest. We had called ahead specifying the car we needed for my mother in law, who needed an SUV or similar vehicle due to her legs which makes it where she can't drive compact vehicles. This call was made 5 minutes before arriving where we were told that they had a vehicle available that would be held until we got there. Get there to find out they did not have a vehicle and the ones they had they claimed to have registration issues. They then said to go the Metairie location because they had the car we needed. As we left we called ourselves to confirm this. They did not have the vehicle either. We were lied to by this company and given the run around. Very unprofessional. Terrible customer service at the Hertz location in Harvey, Louisiana recently. We had a reservation for noon, arrived 15 minutes early. We waited for 15 minutes for one of the two customer service agents to get off the phone and speak with us - other staff were milling around but wouldn't talk to us. When I finally spoke to somebody they informed me that they were out of cars - not sure when they would get more. We waited, more people started showing up looking for cars and got similar treatment (no information). I asked again when we could expect a car - or whether we should go the airport location. They said they sent a couple people to the airport but again no information provided on when we could expect cars to come in. They also told us they sent cars in that morning for oil changes and tires but were not sure when they would come back. Finally some cars started to come in from returning customers about an hour later. The lack of customer service and communication (the staff ignored us and all the other customers) was appalling. read more

This is the worst run business I have dealt with...horribly understaffed, totally confused and have don't care because they are so busy. Don't call in because you can't be served on the phone. they do not have time for you. It takes an average of 40 min to 1 hr to rent a car, if they have the car, which they never have at the time you requested. They don't have a car when you request it and it takes so long to process anyone there. They need better leadership, management and a streamlined process. DO NOT EVER USE THIS LOCATION FOR CAR RENTALS!!! I rented a car for one day, returned an hour before my return time the following day. When the agent was trying to close out the ticket he informed me that the agent, Kelly, who put the reservation in the computer had entered it incorrectly and it was unable to be closed out, nor could they void it. This happed at 11a.m. I waited until 12:30 as they called the help desk to get the ticket closed. The manager, Kayla, showed no concern nor was she apologetic or trying to assist. The agent Greg said until the ticket is closed out my $250 deposit cannot be released and there is a possibility I can incur daily charges until the issue is resolved. I asked to speak to the Area Manager and was informed they were not going to call him b/c he's at home and there is nothing he can do. No one showed any type of concern for the issue and could only tell me they will call once the issue is resolved. No time frame could be given..... This has been the worse car renting experience ever and I DO NOT recommend renting here. The manager, Kayla, should not have her position because she does not know how to handle customer issues. read more

They are horrendous. They have no care for the customer, they and the company do not care to honor reservations or help veterans who made a reservations. This is the worse company, and a person who had been a New Orleans resident this is at a new low level of customer service. no name tags as they did not chose to wear any on this Nov 25 2015 evening were particularly egregious. After turning away several other customers who also had legitimate reservations, they did proceed to rent the car to others.... As long as they agreed to pay the inflated cost well above what had initially inticed patrons to rent their car. One quote? Anything under $75 is a deal no matter what your reservation and quoted price was. Basic bait and switch? Absolutely by this company is fraudulent And used the holiday season to hogtie patrons.
