I rent cars here a lot, and I have always been impressed with the customer service I have received at Avis. It is because of the outstanding service I have received here, that I started using Avis over Enterprise at all of my business travel locations. Many car rental places are the same, but the customer service here is the BEST. Joey always remembers my face and even details of our conversations. Please do not go here!!! Avis rent a car ripped me off. I dropped off my rental car in perfect condition at 5:15 a.m June 1st and there was no one to check me in so I left the keys in the lock box. I received an email 9 days later telling me that the windshield had a crack all the way across it and that I was being charged for it. The inspection report they sent (after I asked for it) took place 10 hours after me dropping it off. I asked for as much information as possible about this, including time stamps of when the photo was taken of the broken window and if anyone else had possession of the car in those 10 hours. I have 40 pages of emails with me asking tons of questions, including if there is any surveillance on their lot that can show me entering with the window intact. They would not provide me with one answer to any of my questions but instead charged me $765.00 for a window that I did not break. It did not happen while I was under contract and I am reporting them to the BBB. read more

We booked a specific vehicle for a family reunion that was big enough to accommodate the trip. We most definitely entered the reservation information correctly, as our trip was meticulously planned. We had to drive a uhaul from Portland to Medford the day we picked up the vehicle, so on the reservation we chose an afternoon pickup time. When we arrived at Avis the man at the front counter informed us that our vehicle had been rented to someone else earlier that day. Turns out it was a very busy day for rental car companies in the area, so our pre-booked rate wasn't good enough profit for them. They canceled our reservation the moment another customer requested the vehicle. When I asked what's the point of pre-booking a specific vehicle WE NEED if they can't guarantee it, the front desk guy informed me "well you're 8 hours late for pickup so it's your fault". We confirmed the original reservation later in an email as an afternoon pickup time, so this guy just lied to our faces. What happens if you get a delayed flight, or a flat tire, or anything happens? I mean this is domestic US travel, delays occur. So Avis apparently doesn't care if you have a delayed flight or anything goes wrong, they'll just rent your car to someone else and tell you to kick rocks when you finally get there. In our case we did nothing wrong. They canceled our original reservation without informing us, rented our vehicle to someone else then blamed us on "filing out the reservation wrong". Absolutely vile, insane behavior. He offered us a much smaller vehicle which wasn't going to work for our trip, but we were going to take. When finalizing the new vehicle rental I tried to ask again about Avis policy on reserving vehicles and what if there's a delay or something. Guy decided he was just done explaining so he pulled the keys back and told me he's not renting me a car. Rudest, most inappropriate and flat out shameful behavior I've ever experienced at any business, ever. Hands down malicious behavior on this Avis branch to increase their daily profits. You guys really complicated our family reunion and increased our rental car costs by several THOUSAND dollars for our trip. Pure greed, lies and gaslighting from this branch. Front desk guy was condescending, lied to our faces, gaslit us and then refused service to us because we had questions about their policies. This guy should lose his job, and corporate Avis should look into this branches actions towards their customers. I'll never rent from Avis/Enterprise nationwide again because of this experience. I don't like being lied too, especially after a long trip and we're just trying to get our pre-reserved vehicle. I've never had a worse experience in a business interaction, ya'll should be ashamed of yourselves. Keep away from this fraudulent company. I have rented a car with Avis using a company called RentingCarz.and paid online. I received an email confirmation and the pre paid voucher. On my arrival at Avis counter, I showed them the reservation and pre paid voucher, and they only placed a holing charge on my credit card (as they are supposed to, for the deposit), which should be released once I return the car in good condition. All went well, they released the hold but charged the rental fee (already paid to RentingCarz). I contacted Avis and they told me that I should contact RentingCarz. I contacted RentingCarz and they told Avis should use their pre paid voucher, and asked me to contact Avis again for a refund, Avis has an agreement with third party companies and when they messed up, they ask the client to resolve the issue. The client who has nothing to do with their internal agreements. And they place an unauthorized charge in your credit card. After more than a month, many emails and international phone calls, and being played by both companies, Avis still has not refund me. I am trying to raise a formal complaint with the company but they just ignore my emails. Be aware of this scammer company. read more

I rented a small car and they only had a Durango. I was promised a free tank of gas and got nothing when the contract closed out even though two people at the desk assured me it was in the notes. As a longtime Avis customer, I'm disappointed to say that my experience with the New Orleans location was one of the worst I've had with any rental company. Months after returning a vehicle in perfect condition, I received a letter claiming vague, undocumented damage--without any photos or specifics. I was charged over $1,300 until I spent significant time disputing the claim. Eventually, Avis dropped the charge as a "one-time courtesy," but only after implying that the incident was somehow my fault for not having taken photos at pickup and drop-off. This on top of the fact that "the location has not provided documented of the condition of the vehicle". Since then, I've followed AVIS's advice religiously. But in a more recent experience, even after immediately reporting damage and submitting evidence, I was met with a convoluted process, rejected uploads, and a lack of clarity. The burden consistently falls on the customer--even when Avis delivers a damaged vehicle. This is not how a reputable company should treat loyal customers. If you rent from Avis, take full 360° video before and after your rental--because even if you do everything right, you may still find yourself being blamed. read more

In all transparency, my travel experience to Oregon was horrible with anything that could have went wrong, went wrong. This is just one of few not-so-good travel experience along the way. When I found out my plane was going to be delayed after landing in Phoenix, I called Avis as soon as I could to figure out transportation option as by the time I arrive to the airport, they would be closed. This was 3-4 hours before they closed. The phone rang, and rang, and then went to a voicemail message alerting that the voicemail is full. This was worst than getting bad customer services; I didn't get any customer service. I tried several times throughout the two hours to no avail. When I arrived to airport, I was not surprise to see no one there. I had to make arrangements for another transportation to the hotel and then back to the airport the following morning to pick up the rental vehicle. The next day, I tried calling Avis on my way back to the airport. I got the same voicemail message the night prior, this voicemail was full. When I picked up my rental vehicle ... the van that I initially rented was not available; a Highlander was provided instead. I explained to the worker about what happened with the flight delay and not being able to pick up the vehicle on time. I asked if I would get reimbursed for the unused day since I wasn't able to get the vehicle until the next day. He said when I return the car, I will be able to get it reimbursed. Fast forward to the day I am leaving Oregon. They didn't open until 9 AM, which was 30 minutes prior to the boarding time of my flight. When I did talked with another worker, she apologized that because reservation and payment was made through a third party, they couldn't reimbursed for the one day. I would need to contact the third party vendor or call AVIS customer service (another part of this not-so-good travel experience series). They also commented that their normal rental pricing would have been a lot higher than what was paid. In addition, when I dropped off the car in the parking lot, all the Avis spots were taken so I parked it in a Hertz spot. The worker confirmed that it was okay to do that. My boyfriend used a different service coming from California to Oregon and everything went well until it was time to go back to California and again renting another car, their policy services on Oregon were not the same which made him stranded Here in Oregon. We were panicked because we had the car reserved days ahead and he need to be back in California for an extremely important appointment in 2 days. We went to Avis over at Biddle road in hopes with their services we can rent him a car to get back to Cali. We didn't know at first, but the owner of the company helped us and was able to save the day and get him into a car right away. I can't begin to explain the devastation it would have been if we couldn't get him back to California, he was on the road within the hour with a really nice car i must say. The owner was so gracious, kind, compassionate towards us even with our panic. He didn't have to be his kindness means more then we can explain. We will be using their service's from now on! This is my easiest and most reliable rental agency at this airport. Every few years the selection of rental companies changes here so I need to change with it. I have a variety of memberships in major rental agency reward loyalty programs and great differences from location to location at airport sites. The car type availability varies a lot and so does the service. This works for me here. read more

I cannot get hold of anyone live at this location and get disconnected when transferred to their main customer service. This is horrible service. I have a disability that prevents me from driving andthey refused to rent me a car when I have a chauffeur to drive me . they were very rude and threaten to call security on me while denying the service plus , They made up some bogus one swipe policy about not being able to swipe a card twice . . OK, I don't write reviews, but I have to write about what a great experience we have had with Avis in Medford, Oregon. My husband's sister passed away a few months ago and we went up to help put things in order. That is where we met Joey and his wonderful wife Jamie, the husband and wife team running the Avis Rental agency. From the first time we rented, they have been just fantastic! We have rented 7 times in the past 4 months and won't rent from anyone else! They have been so kind and always willing to make sure we received a great car quickly. But it was what they did for us the last time we were there that proves just how wonderful Joey and Jamie are! We had to come up to Oregon in October for 2 days and of course rented from Avis. Once we got to my sister-in-laws home, we realized that we needed to take items from the house for safe keeping. That meant we needed to quickly figure out how to rent a car at the last minute going from Medford to San Francisco without breaking the bank! The next morning, my husband and I drove straight to Avis and spoke with Joey and Jamie. Not only did they help us get a car, but they really went over the top and gave us a great SUV to drive down to San Francisco. We couldn't believe how thoughtful they were. They even saved us a ton of money too! They just had us return and re-rent the car as a one way trip and we were on our way in minutes. So there we were, driving off in a great car to pick up family memories and take them to San Francisco to ensure that they were safe. It was one of the bright spots in an otherwise difficult time for our family. It is nice to know that there are good people out there like Joey and Jamie! We are coming back a couple more times in the next few weeks to finish up with my sister-in-laws estate and you better believe that we will be renting from Avis! Be very careful when signing agreement. Rent car's all the time and have never had an issue. The agent snuck in insurance after I told him no. Terrible service and knowledge of their own policies. I prepaid for a rental car and they denied me the car when I arrived because I did not present two forms of government issued ID. I showed them my driver's license and they said they also needed a passport from me. They did not accept anything with my name on them either, including three credit cards, medical insurance card, business cards, etc. Regardless, the terms and conditions clearly specify one order of government ID is sufficient. The receptionist (working 6pm on 11/10/2020) was unapologetic and did not try to figure out another way to help me or provide a refund - they just asked for the next person in line. I called the Avis customer service line the following day to get a refund, and they confirmed the person working at the Medford Airport location was wrong to ask me for two forms of government ID. I told my Uber driver from the airport (since I didn't have the car) about what happened and he said other customer's have told him similar stories, including someone who was denied getting their vehicle because they did not have a return flight scheduled. read more

Worst AVIS franchise I have ever dealt with! I have been AVIS Preferred for 8 years and have well over 100 rentals from them. This branch decided to go ahead and start my rental well before I had reserved the car, saying they "just wanted to get ahead of the curve" I was charged for 48 hours on a 24 hour rental. Then when I confronted them I was told they would cancel it and I could repay when I actually wanted my car and that I "might see my refund sometime next week". So now I am supposed to pay for 3 days of renting a car I only want for 1 day plus gas. This AVIS branch will never get another rental agreement from me! read more

Avis now has a counter IN the airport! The days of the shuttle are passed. I think a lot of people one-starring this place have a beef with Avis, as a company, which is unfortunate for the MFR location. The people working this location treat me better than well every time I show up, which I do, frequently. They are super nice and accommodating. Sometimes upgrades are not available (MFR is busier than you might think), but if there are, and you ask nicely, you can probably score one. I feel like I hear the same complaints over and over again about car rental companies, in general (especially, "they tried to upsell me!"). You can say "I went next door to Enterprise and they treated me just fine!" But, there will be a one-star review right under the Enterprise review saying "they tried to upsell me! And the clerk was rude!" I think this job is harder than it looks. Here you're faced with, apparently, lots of rude, impatient people asking for upgrades as you Tetris the reservation process... there's a lot going on. Computers freeze. The car cleaner guy called in and his replacement hasn't shown up yet. Some dude (probably my dad) decided the No Smoking rule doesn't apply to him ("I'll just pay the 250!" he has actually said.). There are plenty of opportunities to put those yoga pants to use and practice patience. There are only a finite number of cars in a given location, after all. And, yeah, they'll try to upsell you: this is a huge corporation in the USA, and if you think upselling isn't a company mandate, just tuck your head back in, climb into 1940 and buy yourself a 10 cent cheeseburger. This is an opportunity to practice boundaries and Just Say No Thank You to the add-ons. Say it as many times as they ask. Say it to all the things you do not want. If you don't understand the question, politely ask the person to explain it to you. Ask them everything you have a question about-- what are the exact number of hours I can keep the car out before being charged an additional day? Is unlimited mileage included? Please show me on the statement how much gas is in the car. May I please check out the vehicle before I sign the contract? Renting a 2,000 pound death machine for hundreds of dollars is a big deal-- maybe do some research. Bottom line, at any car rental desk, the world around: if you are patient, and polite (having actually allocated time for this process into your schedule)-- if you're willing to do the human work of following the golden rule, and be nice to people, there's a better chance people will treat you with kindness and dignity, as well, and will probably really appreciate it, because at many times it must seem like a thankless job (I'm looking at you, One-stars). Avis bailed us out when a competitor car rental agency had given us difficulty with our reservation and we were unable to rent a car at the Medford airport. Even though Avis is off site their shuttle arrived within 5 minutes. Bill, the shuttle driver, was very courteous. Counter person Sallyanne and owner Joey got us a good deal even though we were walk-ins. Their level of customer service was inspiring, and we really appreciated it. Five stars! read more

Avis Medford Oregon is my new one and only! My wife and I had just had our wedding and everything was in the blissful chaos state that follows. We had a reservation for 9:00pm and a dinner went long. At 9:45 I called to see if we could swing in over an hour late. The owner, Joey, was incredibly upbeat and hospitable. When I arrived, not only did Tony and the entire staff assist me cordially and professionally, he even upgraded me to a chariot fit for a queen. Now my beautiful wife and I will be riding in style to our honeymoon, and we couldn't be happier. I left extremely satisfied and feeling like I had made a new friend. This kind of service is rare, folks. I would encourage you to rent exclusively with Avis Medford OR when you are in town. Rented a car at Medford , was told where to drop key and paperwork when done since our flight was super early. We filled the car up and returned car at 5am and took a picture of the full tank . They charged us for not filling the car up , I sent pic and receipt and they said since my receipt did not have gallons added they would not refund me the money they charged. Lucky for me I had rented through Costco and they were able to get my money back. I go to Medford a lot and I will NEVER rent from this shady , dishonest company ever again. read more

I am a top tier preferred Avis member. This is the worst location I have ever used. They don't have a counter onsite, you have to call them from a phone. Nobody answered and I was sent to the national reservations line which couldn't help me. 20 minutes later I finally got through and was told a shuttle would come get me to drive me to the rental location. I'm ok with a shuttle, but then I had to wait 15 minutes for the clerk to get free as there was only one person working on a long holiday weekend (and he ignored the ever ringing phone the entire time I was in the office, most likely pissing off even more people at the airport). read more

Great experience. For those of you who couldn't get ahold of Avis upon arrival, next time just go the Budget desk and they will get in touch with the shuttle driver (they are sister companies). When I arrived I went to Budget and the folks behind the counter called my driver. When he didn't pick up, the gentleman at Budget literally ran to his car to come pick me up and bring me to the offsite rental counter, but before he could get to me the lovely and very sweet shuttle driver pulled up and whisked me away to the rental counter where an equally lovely gentleman promptly put me into a wonderful car (a free upgrade!). Customer service is there... It's obvious they care! I have to rent from Avis through work, but even if I wasn't required to I would still rent from them due to the excellent service I always receive. read more

I travel extensively and this is by far the best experience I've had with a car rental location. I've rented from here several times and the service and cars have been the best. On one rental this past winter it was very cold. I was picked up at the terminal and driven to their facility. To my surprise, they had the car running with the heater on to warm up the interior. Extremely dissatisfied with AVIS! I had a reservation for a rental car in Medford, Oregon (7/14/19) and showed up an hour earlier from my reservation time. This was not a problem and understood I was early so I waited patiently until my reservation time. When I went back up to the counter the lady at the front desk informed me that I would not be getting my vehicle soon and that I would have to wait longer but was unable to give me a time! I was internally upset but remained understanding and knew it was out of her control. She eventually went to her bank of keys hanging on the wall to see if there was a car available for me. She eventually found only one car available which was an SUV and told me that she would "give it" to me because I had to wait. She in fact lied though because this was a luxury SUV and I ended up being charged extra! On top of that I paid A LOT more on gasoline because it was an SUV, much larger than the compact car I reserved. I am so upset and feel violated. I was patient and kind to the lady handling my rental and this is how I get treated. It's not right, its not nice, and plain rude! read more

We rented a car in Southern California and pre-paid online. When we got to Avis we upgraded the car which only cost $20. We drove to Medford and turned in the car before the 24 hours was even up. We realized after that we were charged $130 for AD DY. We called Avis and they didn't know what it was for! How do you charge a fee when you don't even know what is for?
