Steer clear folks. Want the TL;DR? - drove 2 hours out of my way in hopes of returning my rental car with check engine light on (while out of state). Get there & they had no cars available even though I was told otherwise over the phone. When I brought it up with the manager in Quincy to see if he could make things right - nothing they could do, not even a measly $20 credit. Horrible customer service model. When your car experiences issues while a customer is driving it and costs the customer their time and money - you do what is needed to make things right - . Apparently this is a tough lesson that Hertz Quincy mgmt staff will need to learn via this review and all whom may encounter it. Details: While I had a car from the Quincy Hertz the check engine light came on. When I called road side assistance they explained that although it is the weekend - there's a location about an hour away that can take the car and give a new one. I was out of town at the time in another state so I decided to make the trip just to be safe. After arriving there the lady at the desk tells me she has no cars available and she told the rep I was working with over the phone that she didn't have any. There was nothing they could do. There goes 2 hours of my time I'm never getting back. When I brought this up to the manager of the Quincy Hertz I expected there was something that could be done for the inconvenience I experienced. You would think they would want to make things right for the sake of returning business. Nope. Nothing they can do - is what it is. my wife broke down on the highway so i needed to go get her. rushed to hertz to get a car by the time they closed. roll in at 5:45 and they tell me they only have one car available and it's $180/day. for a nissan rogue. srsly. eff that. wound up borrowing my friend's car for the evening to pick up my wife and renting a car the next morning from enterprise for like $40/day. i get it - free market and all that. so hertz is totally welcome to charge RIDICULOUS prices if they think they can get it, but the rub is that i'm free to publicly comment on it and let people know. worth it hertz? read more

This is the absolute WORST location I've ever dealt with. Sad part is it's a total system wide failure to provide any resemblance of customer care. Too long of a story to explain but trust me they suck!! Three days after picking up a rental I'm STILL in a car I didn't order and not even 1 of the 9 people I've spoken to have called me back as promised. I'm almost certain it's because I used my AAA discount that nobody cares, they definitely weren't happy when I gave them my card. This isn't the first problem with them either, just thought I would give them a second chance. Last year I rented a car that had the strongest most overpowering smell of weed one ever smelled, so bad it made my child sick on our 10 minute ride home. I immediately called them, their response "yea we know, we did the best we could to get the smell out" REALLY?????? Spend a little extra to go elsewhere if need be, not worth the headache and aggravation. read more

The reviews are all over 2 years old. I recently rented a car through the Uber drive program at the Quincy location. My reservation was for a Thursday 11:30, I called and asked if I could pick the car up earlier, and was told the car was not available. I understand this is a off site location so the car that I requested wasn't available early (not a problem) I called before I was scheduled to leave, and again was told the car was not available it was coming in from another location and had not arrived. I was a bit concerned because I had an appt. elsewhere and was concerned I wouldn't be able to get the car. We worked it out together that I would pick up the car first thing Friday morning. I arrived Friday morning the car was there and ready to go. They were very apologetic for the issues of the prior day. I found them to be sincere, professional and helpful. Dropped my rental off at this location today and it was quick and easy, the whole process took about 5 minutes and they gave me a ride back to where I needed to go. Alejandra helped me, and she was wonderful. She was friendly, helpful and quick which is perfect when you want to get in and out. The only reason I'm taking off a star is because the location I picked my car up from gave me an alarm remote that was broken (keys were in the car when I got there). read more

I booked a rental online on June 8, 2016 for June 18-19 for a trip to Connecticut, because I was hoping to avoid adding more miles to my car. I went with the option to "pay now, save more" which is a discounted option they offer, but you have to pay a portion of the price now, and then a smaller portion at the counter. As I'm finalizing my reservation, I am prompted with a page stating that they no longer accept debit transactions, but I was able to enter in my debit card information (which can also be ran as credit), and received my confirmation, etc. Everything seemed to be a "go". A few days go by, and I noticed the funds had not yet been withdrawn from my account. I also had been looking to modify my pick-up time, so I went onto their website to do that, and it prompted me again that they no longer accept debit transactions, except this time, those words were in red, so I called the location and spoke with Marcus, who was very nice. He informed me of exactly that- that they no longer accept debit transactions- and I was confused as to how I was able to book it to begin with and receive confirmation, but nevertheless he said I could just pay it upfront with my credit card when I pick up the rental, which included the "pay now, save more" amount, including the amount due at counter, which I agreed to do, and was prepared to do on 6/18. Well, Tuesday, 6/14 I check my bank account randomly, and for whatever reason, the "pay now, save more" amount had all-of-a-sudden withdrawn from my account WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION! The money withdrew from the same account that supposedly couldn't be used as debit, too. This resulted in my bank account to over draft, and 2 pending amounts to overdraft, since I was prepared to pay that amount, in full, that coming weekend. I was infuriated. I called the store and explained what happened, and they told me I would need to call their billing department and read the number off to me, so I called them. Luckily, they were very understanding and agreed to process the refund, which I am not expecting to receive any time soon, but I am relieved I was able to do this. With all of this aggravation now, I decide to just cancel my reservation after all, so I go to the location that night, and talk to a gentleman, not sure of his name, who did his thing in the computer and then said I'm all set. As I'm walking out of the store, I say to my boyfriend, "why do I get the feeling I'm not all set?". Lo and behold, a half hour later, I receive an e-mail about "important information regarding your reservation". Didn't I just cancel it? I ended up going online and canceling it for real, the next day, and received a confirmation of that. I called the billing department AGAIN and explained everything- how I did not authorize that transaction to withdraw on that day- and told them how I am now in a financial burden because of it and asked them if they could issue me a check or credit me somehow for the $35 but they said unfortunately there was nothing they could do, and the fact that the refund is processing, especially after the reservation had been canceled after the fact, which is something they don't normally do, meant I was already ahead of the game. She was nice, but come on, that's such crap- so now I lost $35 which I'll probably never see again, and have to wait for a new debit card because my bank is treating it as fraud so I can only utilize my money if I go to the bank teller and withdraw it, or write a check until my new card arrives. I'll be waiting patiently for the remainder of they money they withdrew to credit my account... I don't understand how they get off withdrawing funds whenever they feel like it, when I specifically told them I would pay, in full, on a certain date or why it waited 6 days to withdraw, when supposedly the money needed to be withdrawn the same time as booking. I would rather add the 120+ miles onto my car, and I will not be booking with Hertz again. read more

Do not go to this location, as there's an enterprise and many other car rental locations in this area. They disorganized and keep poor records of car rental dates, will overcharge you for extra days to get money. Then it'll take over 2+ months to get your refund of the overcharge even though they say they processed it. This location rips off customers for their own gain. SO BEWARE AND AVOID! Unless you want to spend hours disputing charges they process on your credit card. read more

Be Careful! I rented the car at the Quincy Marriott, which was easy and convenient, especially since you can drop the car off at any time. Everyone I interacted with was polite and helpful. The only thing is, they charged me $54 for fuel. I called and they immediately gave me a credit. If you're going to use a key drop box, make sure you keep your gas receipts, otherwise, when you get your final bill a week later, there may be bogus charges on it. read more

Worst car rental experience EVER!!! Being polite does not equal good service. Charged my credit card versus going through my insurance company, I had an accident claim number. They initially refused to credit my account since no one has the authority to do that on site- goes to corporate. It's been a nightmare... Nothing easy about it. I've only rented cars from here twice and the first time was pretty good. No real issues. Second time was a struggle. The auto shop I was using was supposed to pay for my 1-day rental. Somehow in the mix up of things, I was charged instead of the shop. The charge didn't appear on my statement until 1 month after the transaction date. I called to tell the person at the office to contact my car shop and obtain payment from them and was told it will be taken care of. Fast forward to a week later, the charge on my credit car was still there. Called again and was told by an assistant that my file was closed but he'll relay the message to the manager who will in turn call me right back. I paced my room, constantly checked to see if my phone is still working. I waited a day and still no calls. Third time, I called back and asked to speak to the manager and repeated everything and again was told everything will be taken care of. So again, I waited. Took another week for my refund to finally appear...but it was only a partial amount. What? I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited another day or two. I love waiting. I have nothing better to do. Lo and behold, the second part of my refund drifted in on the third day. read more

1. Pathetic customer service -This is the first time I rented form this place (because of proximity to my residence) .But, NEVER going back to this location!! 2. To start with, they charged me $5 more per day compared to what I booked for. It's only after confronting them and showing them email confirmation, they agreed to bring down charges didn't expected it. BE CAREFUL!! 3. Secondly, Car was DIRTY from inside and outside. Being gold reward member, I requested for a upgrade which they denied. Requested for upgrade at added price, but they didn't have car. Very small inventory (may by 7-8 cars at max) 4. Fourth, I was told car had full tank and hence I opted to FULL tank pre-purchase .However, when I got inside the car, found that it had only 1/2 tank full. This was really CHEATING and really pissed me off.But since I was getting late for my office, opted to leave directly from parking lot. 5. Third - Per Hertz's policy, they say "we will provide pick up and drop" .But when I went to drop rented car next day, the guy sitting there refused to drop me. I had to walk back 2 miles on a chilly morning. I wanted to talk to Notice board shows Manager on Duty -Basilio Almeida ,But was told, he wasn't available. I have rented from hertz several times in past from different locations, but this one was WORST OF ALL !! PLZ avoid if you can even your next car rental locations is 10 miles away!! read more

Complete scam artists, charged credit card even though it was an insurance claim. Charged us for a tank of gas at $9 per gallon even though we dropped it off full. Told it will take weeks to refund charges... DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE. Going to file a complaint with the Attorney General about their shady business practices and what is essentially willful fraud. read more

Staff friendly and allowed us to choose the car (tends to be a limited selection at this location but was still nice). Low score is due to bogus Hertz PlatePass fees charged almost 2 months after the rental ended from this location. I confirmed at the time of rental that there was no PlatePass in the vehicle, and I used my own EZPass for tolls. When the fees showed up, I called this location and was told there was nothing they could do. After contesting the fees with PlatePass and zero response from them, only a 50% refund appeared on my credit card statement. Experience left a bad impression of Hertz and wouldn't rent here again. read more

I rented from Hertz in Quincy, Massachusetts while my car was being repaired at a nearby body shop. The manager, Marquess, picked me up at the body shop and drove me to their nearby office. They had a nice selection of vehicles and the car I selected was clean and in very good repair. The rental process was quick and easy. The manager/rental agent, Marquess was a nice guy who was knowledgeable about his product lines and wasn't the least-bit pushy when offering the different add-on's that are available, including insurance. I could certainly recommend this location to family, friends, colleagues and clients. read more

Beware if you are Hertz Gold Rewards member. Even though you checked "decline" on the insurance option in your profile, the company will still give you the insurance without informing you AND without your signature because they have your electronic signature on your Gold Rewards profile. This is what happened to me. Darren Smith from the Southern Artery location at first assumed that I had checked off "accept" for all of the insurance coverage on my Rewards profile, which was why I was charged $220.20 for the coverage. When he opened my account, he noticed that I actually DECLINED all of the insurance coverage. Now they REFUSE to refund the $220.20 back on my credit card. If you have to rent a car, go elsewhere. And if you are a Gold Rewards member and you declined the insurance coverage on your profile, ask them if they charged you for the insurance coverage because they will not tell you. These people are EXTREMELY shady!!! read more
