Summary: I tried Hertz (instead of Enterprise). Manager Tim was friendly and apparently sincere, but multiple problems revealed both he and Hertz's cluelessness about quality of service. We had booked the car well in advance to drive to Houston for Thanksgiving on Monday at 8am. We got there only to hear from Tim: "Oh that car needs and oil change". It will only take 40minutes. In the mean time I will give you another vehicle to for you to run errands". I leave for work, with my wife driving the other Hertz vehicle. I finish work at noon expecting that by now she will have the car packed and ready for us to leave straight after I spray the house for bugs. No! They still don't have it ready 4.5 hours later! My wife is very upset, our whole trip is now starting off with tension. Now we we have no time for me to spray the house, and we are starring down the barrel of a super late arrival with four kids in tow. I do a google search on what leverage do I have in this situation. It says you should ask the manage for some kind of discount. When finally at 12:30pm we get the car, and I point this out to Tim lest I write a bad review. He accuses me of blackmail and then lies and says "We told you the oil change would take 2 hours". BTW WE GET INTO THE CAR AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON SAYING THE OIL NEEDS CHANGING. No discount or anything eventuates. SAD! My biggest problem here is with Tim's mentality--a mentality that clearly reflects a bigger problem at Hertz. Tim is like, "Hertz just sends us cars on the truck from NC, and we don't know what we'll get". "What else could I have done for you?" Clearly the guy (his lying aside) has lived so long within a culture of disfunctionality that he just thinks it's normal that things like this happen and the customer should wear the pain and inconvenience with no "sorry" or "let me try to appease you with some discount". "Hey these things happen" was the attitude. But with Enterprise (15 years of use) this has NEVER happened to me. Please save yourself the hassle. Avoid this location and probably Hertz in general. Two and a half weeks before Thanksgiving, all car rental agencies located at Hartsfield-Jackson airport were out of cars for the week of Thanksgiving. I called Hertz in Smyrna and reached the franchise owner, Tom M. Best service ever! He gave us the option of returning the car to him or the airport. Super friendly. Great service. My husband and I have rented cars for years from coast-to-coast and this was hands down the best car rental experience we've ever had. Thank you, Tom! read more

Honestly I'm so disgusted . I made a reservation for a truck or cargo van. I paid in full for it. When I arrived they had no trucks , or cargo vans and tried to give me a car for the same price. I had to wait over 2 hrs for someone to return a car . The customer service was terrible , they HAVE an CARS! And if the options they did have the passenger side of the vehicle didn't even work. I was in a replace rental through my car insurance. I was charged the wrong deposit...no one cared, no one could fix it. Horrible experience. The one person at the front was very unprofessional and lax. Definitely got pushed to the side everything an Amazon truck customer came in to rent. Their conversations about women were unacceptable while working. Once I finally got the paperwork assigned he asked another employee to help me to my car and that employee was bothered and proceeded to inform me about all of their unpleasant personal interactions as to why he did not want to help his co-worker. After renting from Hertz for 11 months consistently, and reaching President's Circle, I encountered a terrible problem! During the final month of me renting from this location, I was blindsided by a new employee who's worth ethic is unsatisfactory. After many card transactions, several visits, and telephone conversations to maintain my rental was in good standing; I was left flabbergasted as I left out of a store only to find my rental being prepared for tow while two employees informed me that the vehicle hadn't been on contract for two months! I couldn't believe it!! The name & demographic information they provided as to who the contract was rented to, wasn't even me, nor anyone that I know. Now agitated and late, I had to call a Lyft to get me to my next destination. I filed a dispute w/my bank, and sent an email to the Hertz Southern Regional Mgr; a gentleman who I was advised could further assist. He has never replied to my email. The employee who assisted me no longer works for Hertz, and after directing me to corporate, the owner of this branch Tom, just absolutely refused to help me with any type of reimbursement; period! I'm out of a pretty hefty amount of money and this major corporation in which I've spent thousands of dollars with has not rectified this problem. I'm disgusted. read more

Disappointing. Booked an SUV 2 weeks in advance. Called the day of to confirm the car and they said they had it. Showed up to pick up the car & was told they only had compact cars. Continued to tell us they were running 22 hours behind. If that's the case, shouldn't someone have called us 22 hours prior to warn us so we could change travel plans? You'd think they'd help us find another rental, but nope. They told us we would have to call other Hertz locations to try to find a new car ourselves. So now we're doing their jobs for them!! Offices closed at 6, so between pick-up at 3 and the office closing, no one was able to help us find a new car. Ended up having to rent a car THE NEXT DAY (causing us to miss half of our trip), from a SISTER COMPANY, which was $150 more expensive. Thanks for nothing Hertz and not caring whatsoever about your customers. We will not be renting again. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but felt compelled after receiving my bill. I tried to hold my tongue... I am a Hertz Gold member, and I LOVE using Hertz. This experience was disheartening to say the least. I will say that Tom, the manager, used the excuse of running low on staff MANY times as a reason why he couldn't do a number of things: -No pick-ups available. -Gave car to me at 1/2 tank; required full tank on return -Offered to reimburse me for Uber to/from location -Gave me a free day of rental -...then charged me a late fee when a return date was never specified. -The car smelled like cigarette smoke and A LOT of car freshener. -The car reserved was unavailable because they forgot about me... I was "upgraded" to make up for it. That just meant that I was given something that was left. Bottom line, I walked away feeling cheated. I was warned by a local mechanic shop and another body shop to stay away. They were right... I should have listened. read more

This lady has been phenomenal it's like we've built our own personal relationship and she make sure that I am happy every week I renew. As previously stated, this Hertz location is very unpredictable and very unprofessional. Upon arrival our reserved car was not available and the staff did not know when the car would be available. We had to unfortunately settle for a different car than we reserved. The staff is very unprofessional. The office extremely cold, and the employee stating his manager would not allow him to turn on the heat. There was a miscommunication regarding our reservation and the situation was handled poorly to say the least. The location manager, Tom/Tim, was very unprofessional. I had to call multiple times to speak with the site manager about the situation and eventually just never received a call back after calling multiple times and the employee stating the manager "just left" on numerous occasions. I contacted the Hertz corporation and was told nothing could be done from their point, as the situation would need to be handled by the specific Hertz location. This was my first and last time using Hertz. You definitely get what you pay for. I was very surprised at the lack of attention to detail, lack of customer service, and overall poor experience with Hertz. Avoid this location by all means. read more

Talk about miracle workers!! We landed in ATL to find out that all rental cars were sold out in a 20 mile radius of Atlanta. Luckily, we had made a reservation the day prior online for Smyrna hertz. When we landed, Regina had left me a voicemail saying that there may be a couple hours delayed getting our car, if they could even get one at all. We decided to wait out the possibility of a car being turned in. Luckily Regina and her associate were able to work their magic and get us a one way car (which was nearly impossible that day, with covid and car shortages). We are forever grateful to Regina and her coworker (we can't remember his name, but he was seriously awesome!) If it weren't for their amazing communication and compassion for getting us where we needed to go, our whole weekend would have been ruined. We were SO lucky to have them help us. I hope Hertz will take note of these amazing employees and also fix up this store location. The conditions for them to work in (including bathrooms) were sub par. Overall I really loved our experience and would definitely book here again. These employees truly deserve raises during these uncertain times. Overall, it was great read more

No stars at all!! Extremely livid with the lack of customer service I received at your 3315 S. Cobb Dr SE location. I had to get a rental car after paying $1500 to get my car repaired, my car was towed to the dealership, apparently there's a recall & my car is currently still at the dealership. I came into the office in shambles & all over the place. I elected to have insurance coverage on the rental. Thinking that I would have the car for a week but after the dealership still had my car, I continued to extend the service. I called 770-438-8583 repeatedly. They never answer the phone. I spoke with customer service regarding the daily insurance charge & removing it from my account b/c I knew I couldnt afford to pay that along with the daily rental fee. I was told that the insurance had to be removed at the counter. I called the Hertz location again several times & finally spoke to Regina who assured me that I could take the insurance charge off when I return the rental. I had the rental from May 7th to May 15th. The guy behind the counter is very rude & condescending and when I spoke of removing the insurance charge, he laughed and said take off something you agreed to, no we cant do that. I questioned why Regina would tell me that & also customer service. No apology, no nothing. He just quickly dismissed me and credited $8.90 for my Lyft ride to the dealership. $430.80 later, I do not appreciate the lack luster customer and I do not appreciate being lied to. This charge has caused my Wells Fargo account to be overdrawn, overdraft fees & return items. I can't even begin to explain how hurt I am by all of this. No its not Hertz fault that my car is still at the dealership or any of that. However I broke down crying to Regina at the location on May 7th, she hugged me and told me that everything would be okay. It certainly wasn't and it isn't. Your staff and customer service can't tell customers whatever to get them off the phone and not be held accountable for deceptive information or lack luster customer service. I'm taking every step necessary to blast Hertz customer service & this specific location on every social media platform. DO NOT GO HERE! If you must rent a car, go literally anywhere else and you will be able to actually get a car. The day I rented a car there were NO CARS AVAILABLE (even though I rented 4 days in advance), and they decided to let me know 5 minutes before it was time to pick up my car. All my travel plans were ruined and they were hesitant to refund me. The worst part was that the managers who were working seems far from capable of handling the situation. I was hung up on multiple times while just trying to figure out if there was any possibility they or any other locations had ANY cars or solutions at all, and the staff was nothing but rude and short with me, quite frankly it was disgusting. They seemed very overwhelmed and told me that they were struggling because they had "50 reservations from weeks in advance to cancel" because they physically dont have cars, MEANWHILE they are still allowing people to make reservations online. Alright. So my boyfriend and i were renting a car so that he could drive back to NYC. We made the reservation four days before to avoid any problems. The morning of our reservation we have our bags packed and were ready to go at 8:30am, in my eyes i consider this late lol. i figured it would take a while for the actual rental process so i called to try and change the reservation from 10am to 11am, this is when i was told that they have no cars available, and that this is the ONLY location open in the area. the man i spoke to on the phone told me that he had 50 other people to call this morning to also inform them that their rentals are canceled, and then said if any cars become available today he would give it to me. okay. ridiculous, but okay. so i hold onto hope that our entire plan is not completely ruined and wait for a call back. no word. so i call back and a woman answered and told me that they still have no cars available so i ask her if there is anything i can do to try and get a car today, and she hung up on me. i call back again trying to figure out what is going on, and i am met with nothing but these disrespectful, unconcerned, VERY RUDE employees telling me that they have no solutions, and no more time to deal with my issue that they created by overbooking. (other sites informed us upon booking that they had no availability meanwhile hertz was glad to take our money and reserve a car that they simply do not have.) then when i asked to speak to a manager and they said they are the manager. this is no doubt the most unprofessional and absurd experience ive ever had with any company. save your time, money, energy and rent from literally anywhere else. also if the actual manager reads this ur employees are terrible. and we still have no car. if i could give zero stars i would. read more

The clerk said the SUV I requested was not available nor did they have anything but a compact car. While waiting on them to find me an suv, two more customers called and I heard them being told that they could not honor their confirmations. This Hertz location can't be trusted to get you a vehicle. I booked a minivan several days ahead of time with an 11:30 AM pickup time. They called at 9:30 to ask if I still needed it and I confirmed that I absolutely did. They called me back at 10:20 to tell me they couldn't provide it and they couldn't find one but maybe the ATL airport location would have one. I had to rebook the reservation and spend an extra 2 hours of my day dealing with this problem. Not happy and will not be using this location again! read more

This is the worst Hertz Location ever! I am a Hertz Gold Member and have been traveling for business for over a decade. Our company is using Hertz as a preferred provider and I've been renting cars from Hertz almost on a weekly basis all over the country. I reserved a minivan using Hertz Points to take my family on a vacation and the reservation system confirmed that the car is available at the time (2 weeks in advance). When I got to the Hertz location in Smyrna on Monday morning at 8:20am to pick up the car, no one was there yet although they were supposed to open at 8am. After a while the agent showed up and told me that they don't have my car! He called 2 other Hertz locations but none had a minivan available. This seemed to have happened a lot and the agent wasn't very helpful at all, like "I don't have your car, what do you want me to do?" The whole point of having a reservation is to make sure a car is available! It would have been great to get some advance notice so that I could have saved the Uber trip to the location and back. I had to struggle to find another Minivan on a Monday morning and had to take another Uber to Enterprise in Sandy Springs. I'm also out $$$ for the rental that I didn't plan to spend. All Hertz offered me (after making multiple calls) is 500 points for the inconvenience, what a joke! Avoid this location at all cost. read more
