My car was hit and totaled by a drunk driver 10/18/2025, my car was towed away. The next morning 10/19/2025. I needed to get a rental car. The body shop had me call the Stockton Enterprise.... No cars available. They suggested downtown Hertz....no cars available. I called several Enterprise locations....no cars available. They would call me if one became available....NEVER received a call back. I attempted to call the Stockton Enterprise location at the Auto Mall...no answer. We decided to just show up in hopes they would have a vehicle. when I arrived the very sweet young lady greeted us. She wears glasses and has long wavy blondish hairMakayla (I think that's her name) said she didn't think they had a vehicle they could rent me at insurance/body shop rates. , she got her manager, AJ, together they found a little 2025 Hyundai for me yo rent...perfect. amazing customer service especially considering how frazzled I was. Well, I can understand why this location has gotten terrible reviews. I have rented a vehicle through the Express Drive Program, a collaboration between Hertz and Lyft. Any preconceived ideas you have about the collaboration would probably be correct. When stuff goes wrong, Hertz blames Lyft and Lyft blames Hertz. I have rented vehicles for over 6 months at 500.00 a week to use and work on the Lyft platform. That equates to approx 2000.00 a month and unfortunately the overall customer service sucks. While there have been moments of above average service, the good does NOT make up for the bad. I could mention the 1000.00 refund I'm do for the vehicle that did not start for over a week. The multiple service calls were documented though their own cal center. I never got my refund and I couldn't the entire time I had that vehicle. So, not only, did I the lose the income for the week, I also had to pay for the rental. I could mention the numerous hours spent on the phone with both companies trying to rectify billing issues and maintenance on the cars. Hertz seems to follow a regular maintenance schedule, however, as a long term renter, the unwritten requirement is that I use my time and some cases my expertise to assist in keeping the cars on the road. Keep in mind there is no reimbursement for my time or the numerous cans of fix a flat or car battery I purchased to keep jump starting the car that would not start for a week. I could also mention the mountain of red tape around mostly in person renewals. Which brings me to my complaint today. I came in for my monthly in-person renewal and unfortunately the car needed an oil change, but instead of re-rentling the vehicle to me and allowing me to use a voucher to get the oil change done, as we've done for several months. I was told that the car could not be re-rented to because an oil change is due and there were are currently no other cars ready and available for my use. So, here I sit in the Hertz lobby with the time on my hands to tell my story. I wounder which is more costly to Hertz and hopefully Lyft, allowing me to leave with car and get the oil change done as I have in the past or the backlash from my review. If you know Tom Brady, please pass along this message (pun intended) his brand beyond football will forever be tarnished in my eyes. read more

Rude staff starting with no one answering the phone to answer questions prior to arrival. Then once I arrived was told I could not get the rental without a credit check and extra $$$ for a deposit. This was not part of the disclosure when my payment was taken at reservation and had they answered the phone I could receive this info in time to cancel the reservation. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. #NO STARS There are no stars to express or explain how a business makes you make a reservation and tells you everything is good and then when you get dropped off to pick up your rental, THERE IS NO ONE THERE!!!! They left for the day, even with reservations in the system. Left a number on the door. Then we called their closest location (Hunter Street - Dont go there either!!), no offer to come pick us up and Tamika was rude and no help, she could see our reservation in the system and knew what had happened and said she had that vehicle but could not hold it so if someone else came to rent it, they could have it. Again no help. Can I tell you this was the worst experience ever with renting a vehicle and we are never ever renting from them again. There is a reason they have such low ratings. First off, their office opens at 8 BUT they don't get rentals back until 9 am, and they have to clean then and inspect them so you won't get your rental until probably 10. Then if there are people ahead of you waiting for a reservation they get it first. Why then make your pick up time available so early? Next, they don't give you what's available for the same price. The girl told me and 3 other people it was only $10 more for an suv but then we asked for the total to compare, THEN she clarified $10 per day so she was obviously being shady 3 different times. I reserved a car to save time, after I had processed claim for my accident. When I came in for my appointment time, I was informed that I did it under the wrong system. I was then given a Nissan vehicle, cracked windshield and grinding breaks. I called to complain that I didn't feel safe commuting to my employer daily 30 miles one way. I was told to return the vehicle later on in the day because that's all they had. What happened to the "available " Mazda that I reserved earlier? Rented a car from them 2 weeks ago. They have a sign posted at their business that warns customers that if there is any odor of smoke or marijuana, they would charge the customer $300 to fix. Well, the first car they gave me had a strong odor of marijuana i told them to give me another car. The second car, they sprayed it down with some fabreeze and the car smells good for a day. The next day, the car smelled like marijuana. I notified them the same day abt the smell making sure they dont charge me $300. Just a heads-up, pay attention to what ur renting. I was required by insurance to use Hertz and choose this location for convenience. I waited 30 minutes before an additional "customer service" person to return from break. This person spent more time looking at her computer screen than dealing with me. She seemed perturbed that I wanted information about what she was requiring me to sign. She walked me out to the vehicle. She did not conduct an inspection of the vehicle, saying she would send pictures of it to me later (I'm still waiting. And the vehicle, while mechanically sound, was filthy on the exterior, inside windshield was so smeared that it was a safety hazard driving into the sun, and the "air freshener" used was so strong I had to drive with the windows down. Don't rent from Hertz on Auto Center Circle Dr my insurance company recommended I go here until my vehicle was fixed. They asked me if I wanted renters insurance that agreed to for the first five days after I found out my insurance will no longer be paying for my rental cause my car was totaled out I asked to extend rental and asked for renters insurance to be canceled upon returning car they charged me $ 300 in renters insurance that was canceled my husband personally went there and canceled it and now nobody knows anything about our cancellation how convenient for them they just took our money and I feel cheated and robbed with all the lies being told BEWARE!!!! read more

I BOUGHT my 1st CAR FROM HERE because a friend recommended we come here. NEVER AGAIN AM I buying a rental car. the sales guy Rusty, assured me that all of their rentals they sell, are in perfect condition and they wouldn't sell them if they were bad vehicles. they go thru detailed inspections blah blah blah. my car has given me nothing but issues and I should have said something when I took it for a test drive!! since it was my 1st car, I did not know this small issue would be BIGGER down the road. my shifter kept getting stuck and I could never get it out of "P"... I struggled for months and it would come and go and I could usually get it out after a few tries, but then one day I was stuck for 1 HOUR, and for the life of me, could not move. after a couple Youtube videos, my fiancé came to help me manually get out of "P". I took it in to Nissan and they told me that SODA/somethimg sticky had been spilled all over the shifter. The Nissan mechanic took pictures of it for me, the sticky stuff made it's way down the shifter and killed all connections and ate thru the wires and blocked all signals down there which is why I could not move out of "P". that was a fun $700 I paid TO Nissan to get a BRAND NEW shifter. HERTZ does not even check these cars before they sell them. whoever rented this vehicle prior to me buying, spilled soda!! also, they didn't replace the cabin air filter. it wasn't until the summer that I started getting a Nasty Mildew smell from vents that Nissan told me i needed a new cabin air filter. which now I know , are supposed to be replaced every 15K-20K miles. Also, it's a 2013 vehicle. and the CD PLAYER did not work. I went back a couple months later to talk with Rusty and he said I should've said something when I had just bought the car. well I didn't play a CD UNTIL a couple months later when my mom wanted to play a CD of hers for our trip. that's something they don't cover in their supposed "inspections" before selling these cars. As the others mentioned, customer service at this location sucks. The two women working the front desk were rude and dismissive to me and 4 out of the 5 others who were in there when I was either picking up or dropping off. They threatened to call the cops on a young black guy in his 20's when he started asking questions about why they had no car available for the reservation his mother had made. He was not being rude, raising his voice or being threatening in any way. They told him to leave or they're going to call the cops. I wish they would have so I could have come to the guy's defense. They were rude to another girl when I was dropping off who was just asking questions about her charges. It's as if they just can't be bothered with anything from any customer. The customer is always wrong. They didn't offer me the pre-paid gas fill so when I brought my car back I had to go back out to find a station and fill up. I'm glad I wasn't in a hurry. The girl at the counter was insistent she offered me the pre-paid gas but I know she didn't because I would have taken it. The rental smelled like smoke, which I insisted she document. She just scribbled something in on the rental paperwork instead of putting it in the computer, or something official. Like someone else mentioned about their rental, the inside of the windshield was super hazy and needed to be cleaned. I would have asked for another car but there were none available, as evidenced by the couple who were threatened with the cops because they couldn't understand why the reservation they had provided no car. By far the worst rental experience I've had and some of the overall worst customer service I've witnessed. The people at corporate making the reservation were fine. Unfortunately this all happened after breaking down late on a Friday afternoon on the side of HWY 99 with a 2-year old on the way to a vacation trip so I wasn't left with too many options. Sept 19, 2016 I had a reservation & when I spoke with them the day before, they new I was picking up a car the next morning at 7:30 a.m. My wife dropped me off at the lot & left for work. I went in to find they had no car available for me! They had a car for me many hours later. When i went in to pick up the car, the manager was extremely rude to another customer. She was explaining her issue when the manager cut her off mid sentence & said "so what's your problem " (as if he were bothered). Here I am today Oct 21, 2016 and at 7:30 the same thing. They put me on a waiting list & said they would call me. After 3 hrs. (10:30 a.m.) I called their corporate & they apologized & escalated my complaint. Absolutely awful experience. Get this! I rented a Chevy Malibu for 4 days in San Antonio. Daily rate--$102.25. I am sure I was overcharged for the fuel charge of over $30.00 to fill less than 1/2 of the tank of gas. Has anyone out there ever paid $102.25 for a daily rental of a car. First we had to wait for over 3 hours for a pick up then wen we get I the office the systems down and everything was down and couldn't not add a second driver some had to go to a different location I do that.
