I don't know how they stay in business. customer service doesn't call you back and doesn't care if customers are unhappy. I was told a regional manager would contact me, never heard back from anyone. I'm sitting here wondering when and if they're going to show up at all. If you make a reservation for a specific time, isn't that time suppose to be honored? I realize that "things happen" but people also have "jobs" and "responsibilities" so it would be appreciated if this business would tend to their, which is not the case today. I was mostly upset because whenever I spoke to on the phone was short, unprofessional, and made me worry that I was going to be picked up at all and/or that I would be late to work. Dan, the rep that showed up, was awesome. As soon as he approached me and started talking to me, I was almost instantaneously calmed. He presented himself as someone that was kind, caring, and one who goes above and beyond for their customers. I said hello and I stood there for a few minutes before she looked up at me with a confused look. I explained to her that I never received the text telling me which car I should take... I showed her my confirmation number.. she said their system had been down for the last hour and she was having trouble looking up which car was assigned to me. A man came over to the desk and he called someone asking about how they could figure out which cars went to who since the system was down... the girl was manually writing up the paperwork for me... they then figured out I was the one who did the manager's special. Which said online that it would be revealed when I picked up the car. They gave me a Kia EV. I've never driven anEV before so I asked the about when I return it did it need charged to a certain charge... he said bring it back with at least 80% charge... after I started heading to my parents who live in North Canton, I had gone about 20 miles and was alerted I needed to charge the vehicle... THEY GAVE ME AN EV THAT ONLY HAD 8% CHARGE LEFT... I HAD TO QUICKLY FIND A PLACE TO CHARGE IT SO I COULD MAKE IT TO MY PARENTS. I couldn't find a super charge station and the only one I found had a 4 hour limit which I didn't have time for and because the battery was so low it said it would take 11 hours to charge to full capacity. My parents who are almost 80 met me in Fairlawn and we went to dinner while the car charge enough to get me to there house. I will most likely use a different rental car place next time rather than Dollar.

They were very friendly and took the time to help me be comfortable with what I was getting. However, it seems I was limited to only a few cars that were all SUV or bigger; I hate these cars and never reserve them, but to help them out in whatever their situation was, I was willing to sacrifice (especially during Holy Week). The options included a Nissan Rogue and Kia Sorento, but I was not going with the Kia due to the thefts that have been going on. So, I went with the rogue. I was not thrilled with the service given here as the rogue smelled either like marijuana or some other kind of smoke, which was very nauseating, and the gas wasn't even filled up all the way. I don't even know if the tried to get the smell out, but they did fill the tank for me upon my request, and all this took practically a half hour to get me the car. It was a rough time. The way the rogue drove was good, but you could tell it had seen better days -- the inside was seemingly messy and stained throughout; doesn't seem like this car got a lot of attention prior to coming to me for renting. Now you may be asking at this point why did I rate it a 5? When I got back and told the manager, Bryce, what had happened, he was very kind about the situation and took off a good chunk of the bill and a provided a good discount on my next rental, which I did appreciate and was good customer service that you don't see a whole lot anymore these days. This makes me at least more comfortable renting with them again in the future.

However, a week later we received a letter from Budget charging us for EXCESSIVE SOILAGE. We were both shocked by this accusation and called to inquire. We were later sent some pictures from Budget that they used to justify the charges and were literally knocked off our feet. The inside of the rental was almost unrecognizable to the both of us. It looked as if a pig lived in the back seat area of the car. Corn chips were scattered all over the rear floor mats and paper strewn on the floor. This was not the condiction we returned this vehicle on July 7, 2024. The pictures emailed to me were made by them after the fact. That is to say that they made this mess and had the audacity to blame us for it. My wife and I are two mature individuals in our late 60's and would not have done such a thing. However, they have lied and changed us $250.00 for this crime. So with that being said, Stay away from this company as the have no scruples or integrity. To make this clear, I was not given the incorrect information from the Cleveland location, but it affected my experience due to it. The staff at the Cleveland Alamo location were very friendly and understanding of my situation, and were sure to find me a manager to speak with. The manager I spoke with, Jonathan, was very professional and kind.
