I'm an Illinois resident who is well aware that some Wisconsin dealers are not selling out of state. I made sure to ask the sales rep(going to keep his name out of this as I don't belive it was his fault)this and he said they would honor the sale so long as I trade my vehicle in. Now I'm not a reseller, i keep or trade in all my vehicles. And was assured they would sell me the car and to send over my trade in vehicle info address and email. I sent all of that information over...minutes later Rosie the sales manager calls me and tells me they won't sell me the car. AFTER getting my personal information. Don't trust this dealer or give them any personal info unless you have written confirmation they are not going to rugpull you. AVOID this dealer and their shop at all costs! Aside from the fact that they look like they have been going out of business for a couple years now (very few Toyota cars on the lot, but many used cars of other brands), they have terrible customer service and ethics. I brought the wheels for our vehicle in for 4 new tires (OEM equipment). During the FIRST appointment the tech busted off the TPMS monitor while dismounting or mounting and tried to convince us that it was that way when it came in, and that we were on the hook for $200+. It was functioning fine on the vehicle and I personally removed the wheels, cleaned them, and brought them into the shop. The TPMS sensor is large enough that anyone would have heard it knocking around in there. Also, when they showed it to me it was in pristine condition. Had it spent any time rolling around inside the tire it would have been in pieces, or at least beaten up a bit. So this was a blatant lie. Seeing that they had a customer with mechanical skill/knowledge on their hands, they reluctantly "agreed" to cover it. How gracious of them. If this is how they treated one customer, then it is happening to others. During this visit, of the 4 tires installed, 3 of them were mounted backwards! Stamped directly into the tires were large block letters stating which way they are to be mounted. When I pointed this out to the shop supervisor, he grumbled (like I was being unreasonable) and said "bring it back in". So, another hour and a half of my time waiting while they dismount, remount, and rebalance all of the wheels. On the SECOND appointment they installed the new TPMS and remounted and balanced that tire. After another hour of my time it came back to the service bay, I took a quick look and discovered it had been remounted it IN THE EXACT SAME INCORRECT WAY as last time! I could not believe anyone could be this inept. I went out to the showroom and found General Manager Eric Hesser and told him I hated to complain but I need to let him know what is happening in back. He acted like he didn't have time for my complaint, and basically ignored me. Stay far away! read more

Brought my tundra in for recalls and an oil change. Initial appt. time was 10am. Told him I wanted the recalls done and gave him the VIN. So he said he would make the appointment at 9am so they would have time for the recalls. Then said I better bring it in at 8 am. Of course the recalls weren't done. Told me I would have to bring it back for the recalls. I sat there for 3 hours and got an oil change. From the time it was checked in until long after I left their app for checking progress continues to say Inspection in progress. read more

A 30 minute trip to Hesser Toyota service for an oil change, one hour waiting, and another 30 minute ride home. I always double check when I get home and found the washer fluid way down. Just returned from a trip going through Colorado's first snow storm of the season and I knew I was almost out of fluid. I bought a Jeep Wrangler from Hesser in July of 2021. My advice would be to get any verbal commitments from them in writing as they do not follow through on them. The Jeep I was buying was missing the back seat headrests. They said they would order me a set if I bought the Jeep, no problem. It never occurred to me to have that documented. After having the Jeep a few weeks I called to ask for an update and they said something about getting the wrong ones, having to send them back and now they were waiting on the right ones. Good, I thought. More time went by and again I called - this time they were on backorder and they had no idea when they would arrive. That update remained the same each and every time I called to inquire about the head rests. Not once did anyone from the dealership call me to follow-up with me on my purchase or the status of these head rests. Here we are 8 months later and I still don't have head rests. So, my advice is to get things in writing with them - or better yet, don't buy from them at all. read more

Terrible service. Towed my 2006 prius in because of many warning lights and the car eventually went into neutral while driving and would not shift into other gears. They couldn't look at my car for a week after it was brought in and took them another week to resolve the issue, which they claimed was with the 12 volt battery that they charged $300 for. I hadn't even had my car back for 20 minutes before the check engine light came back on along with other warning lights. They refused to take my car back in immediately and said i would have to pay another $100 diagnosis fee and wait another week. ultimately i paid $400 for them to create more issues. read more

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!!! My husband and I went there today to test drive and hopefully buy a van. They brought the keys out and unlocked it for us to look at it. We never drove it or moved it. I pushed the button in the front to open the left sliding door and it scraped their light pole, from their parking job. They then proceeded to make us pay $700 for the damage. Horrible service. No responsibility taken on their part that this was their parking job and they never said anything or gave any warning not to open the door. Literally sickening. read more

Hands down, one of the worst customer service/service department experiences I've ever had!. I took my car to the dealership to fix my A.C. While fixing my A.C,they accidentally broke my windshield as well! It took them almost a whole month to finish fixing my A.C and to install a new windshield as well!! This was quite an experience, My Wife and I are looking for a used Prius and saw a 2017 Toyota Prius for sale at Hesser Toyota in Janesville, WI, Took it for a test ride and when we went to check under the hood, Was allegedly disconnected and it was a warm day so we turned on the Air with only hot air coming out so we reported that to the sales team and they said that they'd check it out, We did want the care and the sales sticker noted that the Air was checked and worked, We got a call from them the next day and they said the air is working after a charge. Having knowledge of the workings of how air conditioning works I questioned the sales dept what was wrong and they just said it works now, knowing that you can charge a leaking system and it just won't last, I asked for some type of guarantee that it wouldn't have a problem in the near future, They said it's as is, Even though they checked the window sticker that it was good, So I said how about 3 Months and if it lost charge that they'd repair it, Instead of answering that they'd extend the warrantee they refused to even offer 2 weeks extra, We believe that there's a problem and they just want to sell without protecting the buyer, They actually got very defensive and told us to leave after we said that anyone that could purchase this car should be notified that there may be a problem with that system. I had a check engine on and I went to this dealership to see if they can provide more details. I knew it was about a possible leak of gasoline. There was not a serious checking to identify the cause of the leak. They did not even took the back chairs down to verify where the leak was coming from and they suggested a complete replacement of the gas tank, a $1000 job, when may be it was just a gasket a $20 part. Very disappointed in how much they care for their customers and how careful they are with the work they are doing. read more

Yesterday I had a 9AM service appointment For my 2015 Highlander. An oil change. Traffic held me up and I got there 10 minutes late . I was "greeted" by a service writer who chastised me for being late then told me he couldn't fit in my oil change. Here's what this dick head didn't know. I wanted full brake service, and new tires along with the LOF. I brought my bride along because we wanted to purchase the new Highlander by end of summer. Why I continue to give this place a chance, I have no idea. I called several times at 8:00 a.m. and the call goes straight to voice mail. No chance to transfer to the service area to get an appointment. I do not have unlimited time to make a call. If Hesser is too damn cheap to hire a receptionist to start at 7:00 a.m. like all other dealerships, how about having the ability to automatically transfer the phone to the service desk to make an appointment. What a horrible experience at this dealership. I called about a Honda Civic yesterday told Ed we would be up to see it tonight at 6:30. Ed called us at 4:40 to verify we were still coming and told me the car would be ready to test drive. We rush from South Beloit to get there and someone else is sitting at the desk making a deal on the car. The night guy that works the internet was horribly rude and acted like well to bad. He proceeds to tell me Ed gave him my information before he left at 5:00 but that he had this person scheduled to see the car at 5:00. He actually admitted that but never thought to call us and inform me someone else was looking at the car before us. I would never of driven up there until I knew it was available. The service department is a ripoff. I scheduled a transmission flush for my Lexus and was quoted $159 over the phone. I drove down from Madison for this service. After the service was completed, on the service report it noted that only 3 qt of fluid was replaced. Instead of the agreed upon $159, they were charging $169. I would have never agreed to pay $169 to have 25% of the fluid replaced, especially when the local dealer charges $135 for this service. When I was scheduling, the service advisor led me to believe that this was a complete flush. I feel completely ripped off and I will never do business with Hasser Toyota again. They also did not give me the complementary car wash. read more

Avoid going to this place at all costs, if you can. I had my van fixed there. They first told me that my MAF sensor was the problem and told me my van was fixed. I didn't even get it off the lot, before returning it back, as it wasn't fixed. They then told me that it was the transmission and a used one with labor would cost $3,300. I called Morrison's Auto Salvage to find a used transmission. They informed me that they did have one and that Hesser was trying to buy it and upsell the transmission to make more of a profit. Morrison's ended up selling the used transmission to me. The only good thing was they have free loaner vehicles. Very shady business deals in this place. read more

In 2006, my husband and I purchased two brand new Corolla's from this dealership because they had the best deals for the vehicle's and offered the best trade in price. Ever since, we were using this dealership for service and maintenance on both vehicles. We live in IL and there are many places that are closer to us that we could have used for service, however we are loyal customers that wanted to give our service to the dealership that sold us two great vehicles. But not all stories have a happy ending... Just last week, we decided it was time to trade in my 2006 Corolla and purchase a Prius C Package Two. We went to this dealership for our purchase because of the service we've received both with the Maintenance of the vehicle and our original purchases. My husband e-mailed the company and set up an appointment with Matt at the dealership. We met with Matt, and he seemed like a nice, fair guy. However, we were shocked at what he offered for our trade in. It was a complete rip off (even for a dealership). The price he offered for the purchase of the Prius C wasn't even close to what we were willing to pay. So, we left. We were going to continue to shop around for a better deal. But the story still doesn't end there. We continued to be harassed by Matt, from Hesser, all week long. Two days after we left, he e-mailed us asking if we had changed our mind. We responded telling him the other offers we were considering from other dealerships and even gave him the numbers to see if he would counter offer. To our surprise, he responded: "If that is true, you should get there as soon as possible before they change there mind." We told him we were still shopping around for the best price and we had appointments with two other dealerships. We also mentioned that one of the dealerships was offering well below what he did and that is without even going there yet and starting negotiations. This was Matt's response: "I'm serious in that we are making a total of $200 off of you. We aren't going to loose money to see you a car. That's just bad business tactics. Sorry, I can't earn your business. Let me know if anything changes!" Nice spelling, right? We thought that was the end of it...but oh no...we get an e-mail from him again the SAME day: "Are you sure they are quoting you on a package two, or one?" We responded stating it was indeed the Two we were quoted on with other dealerships. We also stated that we were going to take his advice and buy a vehicle from the other dealership on Saturday when we went there, as they were the company that was offering the best price before negotiations were even in affect. We were sensing a bit of sarcasm in his e-mail, so at this point we had had enough of him and decided that we were not going to purchase a vehicle there. But, the harassment went on... On Saturday, (the day we told him that we were buying the car at the other dealership) we get another e-mail from Matt: "Could you do me a favor? Just wondering what dealership it is. My manager wants to go buy some vehicles from them because they are selling them for less than what we get them for. Are you going to be doing service there too?" Really?!?!?!? Well, he might want to buy a vehicle from that dealership since their price was close to $1000 cheaper than Hesser's price that they would NOT budge on. I'm hoping we don't hear anymore from this guy. I'm not sure what his tactics are with the constant barrage of e-mails where he is questioning our credibility. Talk about bad business tactics. And to answer his question, no...we will NOT be using their service department for our new car in the future either. He single handedly threw away our loyalty of seven years. Advice to anyone considering this dealer: Visit only if you enjoy paying a higher price on a vehicle with a whole bundle of harassment and unprofessionalism. Otherwise, go elsewhere. read more

These people are never available when you need them. Scheduled services (that cost lots of money)--sure, but not when it counts. They are very unsympathetic and uninterested when something urgent comes up. We've been regular customers for nearly 5 years, but no more. Let me add that we bought a 2007 RAV4 from them and just after its service plan ended the alternator died. It will cost us nearly 1K. Obviously that is an issue with "Toyota quality" rather than this particular dealership, but it still influences my overall opinion of them. read more

This service department is a nightmare! I have no choice but to go there with my new RAV4, and since I bought an extended service contract I will be fighting for service for another ten years. I cannot transfer my extended service contract, and if I use another dealership I have to pay co-pays on my covered services and some things are not covered at all. This review does not reflect my satisfaction with my car - I love it! I just cannot get satisfactory service, and I am only dealing with tire rotations, oil changes, and having my fluids topped off at this point. I took my car in this week for its first oil change and second tire rotation. Part of the free two year Toyota Care service is to top off all fluids when you have service. They did not 'Care' enough to do that for me this time. When I called to complain I was told that was just a courtesy service, and they do it when they have time. They also marked on my service sheet that my brakes were partially worn (??? at 7,600 miles) but did not bother to talk to me about it - I saw it on the sheet when I got home. How is that possible with so few miles? Also be warned buying a car there is a nightmare - after handing them my check, I was given five minutes instruction on how to operate my new car. I was just lost after driving new GM cars for the last 35 years! The GM dealers made buying a new car fun - they always spent as much time with you as you needed until you understood all the operations of your new car. read more

Avoid this dealership if you are looking for personalized service and courtesy. I contacted the company regarding a vehicle I found online. I don't live in the area and requested specific information regarding the vehicles interior and exterior appearance and mechanical performance. I explained that I would never be able to physically inspect this vehicle or test drive before buying; it would be sight unseen so it was very important for the sales staff to be as specific as possible with any issues. I gave them 3 opportunities to provide more information, and the best they could offer was to say "all the information is already provided online", if that doesn't work for me I should look somewhere else for a vehicle. Courtesy and service costs them nothing; but when dealerships continue to operate in such a manner they perpetuate the bad car salesmen stereotype. Find another dealership if possible. read more

I called about a 2016 Toyota Tacoma listed for $28,599 and spoke to the sales representative Luke about driving an hour and a half to see the truck. Before making the trip I called the dealership to confirm that the truck was still available, which they assured me that it was. Upon arriving to the dealership I found out that the truck had been sold the day before. The first words out of Luke's mouth were "I wasn't even going to show you that one" and he proceeded to try to sell me a 2015 Toyota Tacoma for $30,600, $2000 dollars over the vehicle I drove out there to see. The vehicle was not even detailed, had tree sap all over the roof along with scrapes on the doors and needed new tires. Like they had just gotten this vehicle and threw it on the lot trying to make a quick buck. The trip was a complete waste of time and I was not treated with respect. The next day I called attempting to make a deal for the 2015 Tacoma I was shown if they could detail it and put new tires on it. I talked to the sales representative Kevin and he said they would only fix it for me if I paid the listed price of $30,600, which I did not feel was a fair deal and decided that I will find a new truck. We purchased a car from Hesser 3 months ago. I liked that they weren't nearly as pushy as other dealerships we went to and they had a good price on the car we were looking for. The car we bought was a certified used Toyota so when 1 month after I purchased it, the tires were worn out, I was frustrated and annoyed. Fortunately, Hesser's customer service was great. They fixed the problem and when they noticed a brake issue while they were replacing the tires, they handled that as well. read more

DO NOT GO THERE!!! The manager is untrustworty! We live a hour drive from there. My family wanted to buy a used van and found one on their website. We called before we came and confirmed the price with the manager. When we got there with two kids, After testing the van, we made the decision to buy it. The sales person was okay and told us they needed time to do the paperwork. After 1.5 hours, a manager came out and told us the price was not correct.
