This was a bizarre experience from start to finish. Over the years I've had different kinds of facials, from super high end to low end. I would consider this the lowest end you could get despite the price point. It's like a loud assembly line where the facial is rushed and you're not treated like a human being. The esthetician I saw was rude, rushed, robotic, and seemed annoyed that I was there. She had this attitude before I even opened my mouth, so I know it wasn't anything I did. It's clear that there's a script involved and they ask each esthetician to ask if you'd like them to talk to you, or if you want a "relaxing" facial. I went for the latter because what would I even talk about with someone so annoyed with my presence? She asked if I'd been to Heyday before and I said it was my first time, and she responded with a flat "welcome to Heyday". The facial itself, while gentle enough, was very very fast and not relaxing at all. The chair was uncomfortable (I was basically lying upside down). The aromatic start was the esthetician stuffing the fragrance in front of my face and rushing me to breathe in and out. The mask portions were long and there was basically no massage involved besides maybe a 2 minute back and neck massage. At the end a wet towel was placed on my face for 5 minutes and it made me feel claustrophobic. There's no steam machine to soften the pores for extraction - that's what the wet towel is for. My esthetician asked me if I wanted a lot of extractions, or if I wanted to focus more on masking. It seemed like she wanted to skip the extractions and wanted to argue with me when I said I want extractions done. She left marks on my face anyway so I should have just gone with the masking. The advice for taking care of my skin was not good at all and would make my skin worse. Save your money and go for something with a slightly higher price point. You won't receive a proper, relaxing facial here and will walk out feeling disrespected and not cared for. read more

FABULOUS spa!!! Booked myself a 50 min facial here- little pricey, but nothing to be surprised by in NY. I was greeted by the manager Jeffrey, who was just SO enthused by his job and by helping clients, he made my day a little brighter. He showed me several of the products that the spa carries (ALL different lines) and I felt like he was truly educating me on each product, without pushing me to buy anything (typically what I hate most about spas). Zen was my esthetician; she was friendly, knowledgeable, and just happy. She is the BEST. I loved all the products she used on me, explaining each one along the way. The skin care left my skin feeling clean, soft, and hydrated- not weighed down by any of the products or sticky. Her facial massage felt amazing- I only wish it could've lasted longer. What I loved most about Zen, was she was really teaching me about my skin. I was telling her about the current products I own/use, and how I was confused if I needed anything else in my routine, and how I should even be correctly using the products. She helped me come up with a daily routine to use my own skin care line at home (not telling me they were AWFUL like a lot of spas will do), and I purchased a few from the salon to add to my routine as well. Unfortunately we are again in the season of cold air and indoor heating stripping all of the moisture from literally everything so I really needed this. I've been to other Heyday locations and love the no frills facials that they offer. I love the option to really spice things up with different enhancements or just sticking to a good ol' traditional facial. Appointments can conveniently be made online and they honestly have much more offerings than some of their competitors in the area (I find it impossible to make appointments for the other places). Check-in is a breeze and I've never had to wait past my original appointment time. The esthetician will evaluate your skin at the beginning of each visit and hear out your concerns. They typically target your skin issues and best of all, the products they use smell really nice and is not too overpowering. One of my peeves is leaving a facial smelling like I ran through the perfume section of Macy's. They now offer a no commitment monthly membership that gives you $20 off enhancements, 15% off products, and $75 for additional facials within the month. If you want to be pampered and have a relaxing experience, I would say Heyday is good. If you need an actual facial with extraction, I would recommend to go to an actual facialist. All products are good , but the extraction portion is only about 5-10 minutes (and this is me coming in requesting a deep extraction for clogged pores). Their reasoning was that the black/white heads were very deep and that we would need another session to do it, but I have been to many facials where most things were extracted. A lot of my blemishes were attempted to be extracted, but not fully - resulting in improper healing and redness and overall kinda making my skin worse. I'd have to go to my regular facial spot to actually get anything out besides small blackheads. read more

Thanks to amazing recommendations from my friends and coworkers, as well as a generous gift card from a friend, I decided to try Heyday out. The TriBeCa location is small, but comfortable and very functional. The décor is clean, trendy, and inviting. Checking in with the front desk staff was seamless and timely; after filling out a brief survey and answering some questions about my skin, I was seen by my skin therapist. Kathy was absolutely amazing - she was knowledgeable, accommodating, and funny! She made me feel at ease and addressed all of my skin issues and concerns. I learned a lot about my skin and tips on how to better take care of myself (in addition to what I was already doing). I had a 50 Minute Facial and felt wonderful after my session. The products all smelled amazing, were mostly natural, and I did not experience any discomfort during my session (other than the extractions, but beauty is pain!). My fiancé was generous and caring so she got me a gift certificate to this place for a holiday last year and after putting it off for a while, I finally got the opportunity to go and really got to enjoy my 30 minute facial. I suffer from dry skin on my face and Christina really helped me and explained the proper care I need for the future. I am a nazi about skincare--I am extremely loyal to the products/brands I use, and I am religiously devoted to my skincare routine, while being skeptical of letting just anyone handle my face. Madeleine was not only extremely knowledgeable and attentive, but she was also ridiculously charismatic. My skin spoke to her, and she listened. Every product she applied to my face was explained thoroughly, and I never felt like my face wasn't in good hands--in fact, even if I did not like the products she used, I would return just for her! In the 50 min session, my skin was restored to a healthy glow--better than some facials I've had before. I've now gone twice (once with Robbie and once with Tia) and have had two great experiences. Both ladies were lovely and personable, gave great recommendations for products/skin care regimen, and made my skin look gorgeous and refreshed. I changed my skin care regimen after my first visit (different cleanser, added a serum) and my skin dramatically improved within a couple of weeks. They really know their stuff! I don't typically leave reviews, but must say, I've had such an amazing experience with Heyday thus far, particularly with Zen. I've suffered from ~medium acne since high school and have been to numerous dermatologists and have tried so many medications to no avail. If anything, they made my skin worse. Seemed like the last option was to use Acutane, which I didn't feel like my acne warranted such extremes. Desperate for any other option -- I decided to give facials a try. Zen was immediately warm, sociable, attentive, and knowledgable. I see her once a month (3x so far) and I learn so much about my skin each time I see her. This time I had a 30$ off promo code which I used and mid facial the aesthetician asked me what promo I was using as she could see the indicating icon on my appointment, after I told her I feel as though she barely put any effort in. She left me with my face wrapped in the towel pre extractions for so much longer than usual and I could hear she was on her phone. SUBPAR! I have been getting facials since I was 15 years old and I work in the beauty/skin care industry so I know a good facial from a crappy one and this was one of the most underwhelming facial experience I've ever had. I typically would never go to a place like this but I was given a complimentary 50 minute facial from an event so I figured why not give it a try. This place is clearly a gimmick so I went in with low expectations and that is exactly what I received. The facialist was lovely and sweet but I could tell she was extremely green. The experience wasn't thorough at all. She cleansed my skin and then took a quick look at it under the light. Then she used a physical exfoliator, fine but then didn't remove it all the way before starting extractions. And speaking of extractions, they don't use any steam to open the pores to make the extraction process easier. Instead she just wrapped my face in a warm towel and then left it there until it got cold-thus closing my pores right back. This was absolutely ridiculous and the extraction process took only a couple minutes which is never the case for any facial I've ever had! After inspecting my skin after the "facial" I could tell the extractions weren't done properly because she left holes on my skin and puss was oozing out still! I already know it's not going to heal properly and will cause hyperpigmentation as a result of their "technique". Also she only left the mask on my face for about 3-4 minutes! Amazing! I've been for facials at the Tribeca location twice now, and had great experiences with each esthetician. Even though they have a large inventory of products on sale in the lobby, they never push any products on you. They'll actually encourage you to leave with a sample before investing in the full-size, which I really appreciate. I have acne prone skin, which is why I find it worth the money to get professional facials. My skin feels totally detoxed and rejuvenated after my facials here. I never walk out looking red or irritated, like I have with other purifying facials in the past. My skin always looks and feels super hydrated and balanced. It's super easy to make an appointment online and personally, I find it nice to not have the nature soundtrack, robes and tip toeing atmosphere of a spa. I used to get medical facials at my dermatologist and have been to a lot of great spas for facials, but Heyday really holds its own. The natural product lines they stock are fantastic too. I work nearby in the Financial District and had been so busy with work that I hadn't had a chance to get my routine monthly facial at my regular spa. I came across HeyDay online and decided to give it a try during my lunch hour. I was extremely disappointed. I got a 50 minute facial, because that's all my lunch allowed for and it felt like absolutely nothing was done to my face. I spent $90 in a place that simply touches your face very lightly and barely does any extractions. They simply put almost no pressure with their fingers on the spot. The facialist claimed that they have the best technology and that they have a special spot treatment. Three weeks later and my face looks the same. I had to get another facial from my regular dermatologist's office in order to get a proper cleaning. This place is simply a trendy one and not a place to come for an authentic facial. I received the best (and most informative) facial of my life at this salon. Roberta was my aesthetitian and she's simply brilliant at her craft...a calming presence, effective communication, knowledge of complex dermatology issues, the ability to remedy said issues (w/o leaving you a splotchy-ass mess afterward) and so on. Best of all, she gives you skin-saving advice to apply long-term in order to mitigate and prevent further damage (e.g., to never ever use a body scrub to exfoliate your face). Roberta also gave me samples of skin care products (gorgeously packaged and labelled) that are available for sale at HeyDay, but suggested I try them first before buying. This is a refreshing departure from the industry standard of using a client's entire visit to hard sell the its products. On top of all this, HeyDay has reasonable prices (e.g., under $100 for a 50m facial), an online booking/payment system and a soothing interior design (and general atmosphere) - more than enough to cement my devotee status. I very rarely write reviews, but I really felt like this was a huge waste of $$. Booked a 75 min facial and microdermabrasion the other day when I was walking by. On the day of my appointment, I am greeted by the esthetician who walks me into the room. After explaining that I just wanted my face to be a little bit less congested and to spend time on extractions we start. Five minutes in I ask about the microderm and she says that they don't have a machine in this room and she tries to sell me on a LED light. I just feel like they should try to accommodate what I had booked rather than try to substitute it for some worthless addition. Moving on to the facial, it was subpar. I usually get facials at dermatologists offices so maybe my expectations were different. In the end, she put a mask on my face, did less than five minutes of extractions, and instead rolled a VT Micro? And "high frequency" device over my face like four times. It just seems like they were trying to make the facial last longer by doing the same thing over and over. I usually walk out of facials feeling like my skin looks clean, fresh and smooth. I went to the mirror and there was still a film from whatever mask I had on, and blackheads all over my nose and chin which I could extract myself easily. Just felt like a sloppy result. Today was my third facial treatment at Heyday Tribeca. So so pleased with my results! For context, my first ever facial (50 minute facial) was here with Nausheen and I was extremely pleased with the bedside manner, subtle but fun conversation but mostly the true and honest education about my skin and how best to achieve the results I want to see at home, as well as during my treatment. My second facial I worked with Zen B., I'm not sure if she is still there. She was so informative, gentle and educational and even advised against adding an enhancement - she felt I didn't need it and instead provided me with a free sample of the moisturizer she used, which I loved! Today, I was treated by Amani A. What. A. Doll. Not only was she extremely informative but caring and truly interested in the ways we could maintain the integrity of my skin. She even gave me advice on some of my other skin issues, such as my "chicken skin" on my legs and at home remedies I can use. Great conversation, which is what I prefer through my facial, but also gave me moments of quiet. At the end, I was fully ready to purchase a mask she suggested to me and add on another facial mist she used on me during the treatment - the smell was *chefs kiss!* Amani didn't try to upsell me. Instead, she told me to take the travel size of the one product and make sure I love it before I commit to full-size.
