Placed an order through the app, the order had Mango Grapefruit Boom, which was made correctly, and Coconut Mango Boom, which was made INCORRECT, it had grapefruit in it and the drink had to be thrown out, we found out the drink was made wrong after leaving the store. Taste: Tiger sugar's brown sugar milk tea is hands down better. The mango coconut slush is not bad but can be found elsewhere. Service: Waited over an hour to order and as I was getting to the front of the line, they let a pregnant lady who came with her mom and her husband skip the entire line. I get that she may not have been able to stand on line for an hour but her husband and mother seemed perfectly able to do so. The manager came out and claimed it was part of their company policy. Where?!? BOGO deal disclaimer was not stated anywhere! If you buy drink 1 for $7.99 and drink 2 is $7.49, if the drink 2 was a large, you get charged an extra $1 even though the total of drink 2 was less than drink 1. So you will get charged $8.99 pretax. I've never seen a BOGO deals work like this esp because the second drink is of lesser value. It's not about the $1 for me, it's the false advertising. I love heytea!! Only complaint was honestly how popular they are and lines are horrendous sometimes. But today, Shelly, the cashier graciously let me skip the line because I'm pregnant while this wasn't expected but the keen attention and consideration makes their customer service as top notch as their drinks. Ordered matcha jasmine tea today and it didn't disappoint. It has a floral taste which I like and it's matcha so I know there's health benefits. However, with my order I got a coco matcha tea for someone else. The lady on the register confirmed for us that it didn't have milk but the person I got it for had an instant reaction with their allergy and we went back to the store about this after picking up Claritin at nearby pharmacy. Valen at the store quickly took care of us and replaced the drink. Apparently, anything with some sort of foam has milk in it, from our experience at least. The drinks are always good. But the staff here needs to be retrained or given more support because they're not very good with taking orders, making drinks, or managing crowd control/orders for pickup. I was there for the grand opening at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day walking by and noticed that the staff were the same in the morning and at night. They're working over 8 hours. The cashier was barely able to keep up. They didn't know about the drinks. They ran out of toppings and asked us to replace it. Then when we said okay, they didn't even enter that into the system. Then the person who is managing finished drinks kept giving the wrong drinks to the wrong people. The person who was doing crowd control told me to go inside for my drinks because it was ready. But it wasn't and I ended up waiting another 20+ minutes. I wrote this off because opening week is always hectic. But then I went again tonight. There was still a line. I'm okay with a more reasonable wait. As I'm waiting, I hear from people leaving the store that their drinks were ready but their number was never called. It was multiple people saying this as they left the store. I go to check if my drinks are ready. And what do you know? My drinks were also ready but it was never displayed or announced. They also didn't make my drinks properly. There's no point of customizations if the people making the drinks can't follow it. The same person managing the finished drinks was so surprised when I came in with my order number checking on the drinks. The store layout sucks. The customer area is very narrow and set up vertically. You place your order at the end. Then squeeze yourself into the even narrower space to wait for your drinks. There's no space to stand most of the time. So people have to wait outside. The counter should've been horizontal towards the back of the store. They use up more space for the employees and drinks stations than to think about customer flow and traffic. It's hazardous. If it continues to be like this, they should just put a screen near the glass walls for customers to see if their order is ready or not. The screen right now is all the way in the back behind the cashier. You can't even see it from outside because of the frosted design on their glass. I've been to their manhattan and flushing locations. Their most efficient location is the 1407 Broadway location in manhattan. Everyone is on point there even with the volume of orders they get. The 86st location is by far the worst location I've been to. The staff needs more experience and/or more training. Heytea is extremely popular and each location gets a lot of orders. But this particular location's staff look like deer in headlights in response to it. I've never had my drinks made wrong so many times at different times of the day on different days. Please also give your staff breaks. It's really sad seeing someone on their feet from opening hour and see them still on their feet an hour to closing. Until things settle down, it's not worth my time to come here. Especially if I don't know if my drinks will be made the way I ordered it. read more
