Hector is the worst radiant heating repairman I have ever encountered--extremely unprofessional. He didn't provide any contract, and his pricing was completely non-transparent. In the end, I spent $8,000, and he didn't even take responsibility for the leak that remained after the repairs. He claims his rate is $165 per hour and brings along a worker who charges $80 per hour. However, they were slacking off the entire time, constantly extending the repair time on purpose. They would spend time looking at their phones, taking long lunch breaks, and would even charge for two hours spent on their phones and lunch. Also, he charges every time he connects two pipes, dragging out the work without fixing the problem. This was our first time repairing radiant heating, and we regret not listening to our neighbors' recommendations to use a reputable company like Anderson Radiant Heat or Lachance. Whatever you do, don't hire Hector--he's probably just trying to scam as many people as he can. read more

We had an underground leak in a 300 feet pipe that made our life miserable for weeks. 4 plumber companies, 3 water leak detection companies were involved including HH Hydronics. The latter was the very best!! The other either failed or were happy to thrive advice on the phone or text. Hector from HH was recommended to us by friends and I highly recommend him to the yelp community. He showed up the day I contacted him. Had reasonable quotes (well ... for plumbing ). We had a rusted water heater exhaust that needed to be replaced as part of a re-roofing project. We had two people out to big it. The first recommended that we separately vent our water heater and heater, which have shared an exhaust since the house was built 30 years ago. He said they would have to break into the exterior wall and replace the entire length of the vent from the basement to the roof. Hector gave us the second bid, which was clearly based on his actual experience with the type of heating system we have in the house. It was much less complicated and many thousand dollars less. We live in a Eichler home. We knew we had a leak in the radiant heating system and reached out to Hector at HH Hydronics. He was there the next day and helped us locate, not one, but two radiant pipe leaks. He was thorough and careful to find the problem efficiently, and not cause unnecessary damage. He was consistent with retesting to ensure all issues were addressed. He was also able to help us with locating and repairing a hot water line leak beneath the kitchen sink. There is piece of mind that comes when you can say "I have a plumber that I can trust." I am extremely disappointed with Hector's service. I found HH Hydronics through my home warranty plan. He came to the house promptly, assessed the issue with my heating system, and told me he would order parts, get authorization from the warranty company, and be back in touch in a few days. When I hadn't heard from him after a week I tried to reach him. After An unanswered email and text, I finally got him on the phone. He said he had the parts in order and would be back in touch in a few days. (See a pattern here? I did not yet.) That's the last I heard from him. After another week-plus, in frustration, I called the home warranty company to make sure they had authorized the repair and they were not the holdup. They informed me that a week or two earlier he had contacted them to tell them he could not do the repair. He had never ordered any parts, and never sought authorization to do the work. Of course the warranty company isn't going to go out of its way to help me...but after visiting my home and looking me in the eye to tell me what he planned to do, he did not do any of it. And he didn't have the common courtesy to tell me this so I could get help elsewhere. I had high hopes for this service provider given how friendly and competent he seemed. Instead, I had to start from scratch weeks later finding a new contractor because of his unwillingness to engage in even basic communication. I am so disappointed. read more

Great experience with HH. With the near-demise of Lipp Hydronics, it seems many of the ex-Lipp people are out doing their own thing, and HH is one of those. Hector recommended a new boiler but that we should get a second opinion. Unfortunately, in January, no one else was interested in coming out and looking - and we were pretty sure he was right. His installation looks really clean and reasonable, work was done on time. I suppose we'll see in a few years if the installation was done correctly. The prestige solo he recommended seems to have a spotty record if installed incorrectly. Overall, very impressed! read more

I would give Hector 10 stars if I could. What an incredibly hard working and genuinely nice guy. We agreed he would remove an old boiler from my laundry room and relocate and replace it with a new wall mounted high efficiency unit in my garage. He started the very next morning and then we proceeded to have a heat wave in the following days. This did not phase Hector and he worked tirelessly in 100 degree heat for hours on end to get the job done. I was in awe and would not have blamed him if he had postponed the job until things cooled down because our west facing garage and laundry room were sweltering in the heat. Hector opened up the walls and ran a new gas line out to the garage as well as running the supply and return lines up and over the roof over to the garage and into the new boiler unit. Hector wrapped all the pipes and re-sealed the roof meticulously. He also added new plumbing for a sink in my laundry room. We now have a new Nest thermostat, thanks to Hector. When we came across the inevitable stumbling blocks in the job, Hector was flexible and creative in his thinking and offered great solutions. He arrived right on time or 10 min early every morning and always put on booties and a mask. He tarped everything and left his work area extra clean. I had to go online when my supply valve handle broke under the sink. Hector responded right away and said he could come by in 2~3 hours. He mentioned he charges hundred dollar an hour, so I committed to let him do the work--replacing a supply valve. He called and came by at 4:08PM, and spent half an hour shutting off water. I did not expect it to take longer than an hour. Half way through he show me he replaced a valve, then he said he had to replace a compression fitting. When he finally finished by 5:58, he said he would send me his bill by email. I then asked what he would charge me. He replied 2 hours at $150, plus the parts at $15. I wrote him a check for $315. His work appears to be OK, but I think he tried to extend his time working. read more

Great experience with Hector. He had a cancelation and called to offer to come early. My problem was the previous homeowner had a hydronic air handler installed incorrectly in the upstairs addition. It had an issue with a reverse flow through the air handler when it wasn't running, which resulted in luke warm showers. Hector was experienced enough to look at the system, understand that it needed a check valve, and do the fix right there. Explained what he was doing and charged a fair price. read more

He re-engineered and replaced the plumbing connections of a badly installed hydronic heating system so that future repairs will be easy to do if needed. The first replacement pump he installed was defective, so he came out as quickly as we could schedule him to replace that part. We have a fairly old system in our home. It's been reliable, but we've needed it serviced now and again. We only used Lipp Hydronics in the past, but it appears that they may have closed. Hector (HH) was the last tech from Lipp to service our system before opening his own business. We recently had a crack in one of the heating pipes embedded in the concrete floor. Hector was out almost immediately to investigate the problem, and quickly located the break. We scheduled a Saturday repair and he was precisely on time. Hector was careful to tarp off our family room to minimize dust from cutting into the concrete (but I recommend putting tarps over things in the room as well, as it is just a messy business no matter what). The job was done quickly, and the site left in great shape. I think Hector knows his trade well. Hydronic systems are tricky, and I now trust Hector and will call him for future service if/when needed. read more

I had water heater problem and as you know once it happens its emergency. I wanted to get rid of tanked heater and install tankless type. Called several plumbers in hurry and got all sorts of different numbers in different response time. Hector provided most reasonable estimate and fast. Tankless heater install needs a lot of tricky things to convert from conventional tank type. He goes through good consulting how it should be done. My situation was not good for tankless and had to give up but interaction with him already gave me good confidence to hire him. This is the second time I have used Hector to service the radiant heater in our Eichler house. My radiant heater was not working and since I had a service contract with American Home Shield, I contacted them initially, but they were unable to find any contractor to service my heating system, so they allowed me to choose my own contractor. Since Hector did such a good job for me back in September, 2018, I emailed him a message on a Sunday. He called me right away on Sunday night to schedule an appointment the next day. In fact he got to my home earlier than expected. He said he would come over between 4 to 5 pm, but he called and said he could could make it at 1 pm. I was not home, but my wife was. He came promptly,and diagnosed the problem, but before he could repair the heater, he had to call American Home Shield to get authorization. He had to wait an hour on the phone for a representative, and when he finally got one, the representative gave him so much hassle and problems that nothing was resolved. Without the authorization, he would not be paid. However, he was so nice, he repaired the heater anyway because he did not want my family not to have heat in this cold weather. He would not accept any payment from us and told us we could pay him later. I have done business with a lot contractors, I have yet to run across a contractor who was professional and nice enough to care about my family not having heat and not accept payment for work done. I told him to send me an invoice so I can claim reimbursement from American Home Shield. If you have problems with your heating system, there is no better contractor or human being, for that matter, than Hector. read more
