Painful. Unfortunately I cannot go back there. I was not even able to type without pain the following Monday at work, and I got them done Saturday. They filed my skin off. And the thumbnail was cut so short it bled when I tried to use my hand. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you can get Nini, she is gentle there. But not all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] :(

I came here for a gel manicure. The salon is spacious and clean. The nail technician I had was very gentle when removing my previous gel manicure. She also asked me if I liked the color after one application to ensure I liked it before painting all my nails. I did appreciate that because I've had some experiences where the color didn't end up looking very good on me versus on the sample. I did get nicked during the appointment which has happened a few times at salons. I also have very sensitive skin so even just a little roughness can do some damage. There were points during my appointment I found it hard to communicate, so it made it harder to express my needs or ask questions. I did like the final results. Overall my experience was fine.

I came in at 10:30 AM for a gel-x fill--the salon opens at 10, so there were only three people total inside. I usually go to my regular tech (@afreshset on IG), who is worth every bit of the prices she charges, but she was booked, so I figured I'd try the spot I normally use for pedicures since they stay busy with manicures too. Big mistake. I waited about 30 minutes, which was fine--I was on my phone, vibing, no biggie. But the SECOND I sat in the chair, the tech started rushing like she was being timed. Mind you, I was literally the only person waiting. No greeting, no "Do you want them shorter?" Nothing. She just started clipping away. When she finished filing, four nails on EACH hand were crooked. I actually had to take the file from her and fix them myself because... what?? And even after asking her twice to slow down (because there was NO reason to be sprinting), she kept going fast and giving me attitude. I asked for a natural square--the exact shape I came in with. She rounded the corners and didn't shape anything. Asked for a natural pink base for a French tip--she slapped on one coat. I told her gel-x needs at least two coats, and she rolled her eyes. Then the French tip? I specifically said I wanted a nicer curve so they don't look like "wisdom teeth." Guess what they look like? WISDOM. TEETH. Pedicures? Solid 10/10. My last one was nine weeks ago and still looked fresh. Manicures? After this experience? Hard pass. I don't know why I was rushed at opening time, I don't know why there was attitude, but what I do know is that I paid, did not tip, and walked out with nails I'm now stuck with until after I give birth. From now on: pedicures only. Manicures? I'll stick with my tech who actually knows what she's doing.

Best place ever for nails! I trust very few places with my nails, and this is one of the them. I have been going here for about a year! Great service, so comfortable and they are all so sweet. Im never nervous if my nails will come out bad because ik they do exactly what I like. They take walk ins or appointments, but I usually just walk-in. If they are really busy, they will still sit you down and give you a drink while you wait! I usually just go to Marshalls because I like shopping. I never really had to wait longer than 20minutes and thats on a busy day. read more

I've been coming here for 5+ years, and can't say enough good things. I mostly see my go-to tech for manicures but have had pedicures by many different employees there. Each was fantastic. They really care about the health of your nails and helped me over the course of my first 4 (dip) manicures grow, heal, strengthen, and lengthen my nails and nail beds. I've been going there ever since and have sent family and friends their way for this very reason! It may be unassuming because of location but the salon is clean, calm, and right next door to Marshall's so it's fun to pop over afterwards and shop a little. Not a very good job. Called ahead because I knew they closed in an hour, they could have told me no if they didn't want to take me. Clearly were rushing to get the job done made me feel awkward for asking certain things done. Wanted a full set and a pedicure. Asked for ombré nails and she told me no? Ok I guess, bummer because I really wanted that for a trip. The lady doing my toes was sweet, but she kind of messed up the flower design on the toes one was all wonky and they just didn't look good. Fingernails came out nice but not what I wanted to get. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I could get over all that because I know I did come in later on a Sunday, but what made me write a review was the lady Nina when she was checking me out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I always tip, but honestly it was kind of a bad experience and I really didn't want to tip because I wasn't happy with the service. She straight out asked me how I was going to tip. I think that's very rude and forward, a tip is supposed to be extra for good service, not expected, and definitely not asked so blatantly for in front of other guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Of course I felt awkward so I had to tip her. Again I always tip, but I did not feel the experience warranted it. I hope management changes the way they handle this going forward. I will not be back. read more

I have been to Hi Nails several times. I had a guy once, for a simple mani-pedi but I mostly make an appointment with Lee for a manicure and the more deluxe pedicure. Lee is simply amazing- a careful, thorough and very accomplished nail technician. She is also a wonderful woman who is friendly and accommodating for what you want with your nails. Hi Nails is a very relaxing place - blue sky and clouds on the ceiling, mellow music, good spa massage chairs, and their prices are very reasonable, at least for the services I received (I just do mani-pedi with my natural nails). I will definitely return. read more

I'm always greeted and seated right away when I walk in for a mani/pedi. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. I'm always pleased with their work, and happy that they allow tips on debit/credit cards. At times, the pricing can be unclear. For example, the price sheet they hand you for a pedicure says one thing but you're charged $10 or more at checkout. Not a big deal as I'm sure there's some explanation for it. I just wish it was more transparent. Still my favorite local place to get a mani/pedi. read more

Right after getting into my car... she didn't wipe off my nails the entire time so at the end she was like your nails are so dry. She mumbled something once I didn't hear her. She was annoyed said it again I didn't hear her so I said okay. She left and came back with hot wax and I said how much is this and she said $10. Maybe just have the client wash their hands or in my case I was getting a pedicure maybe wipe it off? Also, hitting the 1 and a half week mark my pinky nail came off. Unfortunately, I wish I wasn't leaving a poor review because this place is right by my house. My daughter and I came in to get a pedicure and manicure. She was super excited and so was I. I called in ahead to see if they could fit us in and they said YES. When we got there no one treated us. I signed in and we sat down. After 30 minutes of no one saying a single thing we decided to get up and leave. I totally understand being busy but not looking up to greet customers is absurd considering that when I go I pay close to $200 for services. We left and tried a new place call Kai nails. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and told we'd have a 15 minute wait. Every 2-3 minutes someone would come and just let us know we were next and even gave us the nail color chart so we could at lease be looking at colors! Looks like Kai Nails found two new customers. read more

I got the miso glazed salmon on top of udon noodles and tomato dashi and edamame with a glass of apple juice. I enjoyed the weather, the view of the water and live music. Afterwards, I walked back to the spa and went into the dry sauna for 10 minutes to unwind before my facial. Sydney did my facial, and I fell asleep. I woke up feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and my skin felt super soft. Both ladies were amazing and so kind. I ended the day with a glass of bubbly and relaxed in the waiting lounge for a bit. When my nail technician completed my manicure, she announced, "same!" as if she declared out-loud my powdered pearlescent nails are now magically transformed into the requested nude chrome color. I wish they would've told me upfront that this cannot be done. I would not request for anything out of the basic mani pedi here.

I've been here twice now with some friends, and this is my go to place in San Diego! I've gone to other places, but this place has the best price and their technicians are all thorough and careful with their work. Other salons I go to either pressure me to spend more money or make my cuticles bleed. My regular pedicure lasts me for a really long time (3 weeks-a month without chipping)! I usually get a buffed manicure and regular pedicure, which costs me $46 without tip. The place is really clean, and they have a wide selection of colors as well as an ATM in the back and a friendly staff. I really recommend Hannah, she's so sweet and skillful :) read more

My nail experience here was amazing! First of all, the woman doing my nails was so sweet! She was very gentle and a wonderful listener. She listened to my every request and perfected my desired design. Second of all, entering the salon, I was very stressed and anxious due to personal problems but by the time I walked out , I felt refreshed and comfortable, like I was a new person. Stopped by here because I was in the area and they were able to take me in for a walk in fill. I usually get ombré nails and I know a lot of places don't offer that or haven't perfected the design yet. I was relieved to find out they do ombré nails and they had options in the type of ombré that I could choose from. Lynn did my fill and was very sweet. Renee is professional, kind, fun to speak with, and I am so glad to have "discovered" her. The salon is small, only two tables, and comfortable and beautifully decorated with a delicious breeze. Lots of color choices, too. I park on the street and have never had difficulty finding a space. 10/10 recommend.
