I came in as a walk-in without any appointment and she was snake to accommodate me as it was mid day on a weekday. She gave me space when I wanted to relax and was chatty when I wanted to talk, which I appreciate. I got a regular manicure and a pedicure. While she took her time, I felt like the manicure wasn't done as well as it could have been as some polish was missed on the corners and edges were left out. What made me feel uncomfortable was the pressure to write a review while I was still on the chair and then being asked to show it after I said I had written one. the table I was sat at had nail polishes completely covered in dust and the whole place was very dusty and dirty. The towel my hands were placed on was dirty and had nail clippings all over it. I only got regular polish but I wouldn't feel comfortable getting acrylics here, I almost walked out as soon as I saw how unsanitary it is. They also tried to put the top coat on too soon and it was ruining my polish until I asked them to let it dry for a minute first. I honestly had to suck it up and distract myself but I can't believe they keep it so dirty. it's worth the extra $10-$15 to go somewhere else. It's unfortunate but if they want to do better they should really clean up a little. fungi infections are no joke :( read more

With over 1k reviews and a 4.2 star average, I thought I'd be in good hands. Came in at 6p asking if they had room for a walk-in gel pedicure. There were two guests inside at that time. The owner/tech agreed, but told me to return in 30 mins. She asked me to leave my number and she'd call when they were ready. When she called at 6:39, the same guests from earlier were still inside. She started the water for me, then continued to work on the other two guests. I was waiting in a foot bath from 6:40 to 7:10 before my pedi actually started. Had she been honest about the hour long wait, I could've made an informed decision to wait or visit a different salon. My polish came out fine; however, the space and equipment didn't feel clean, which was especially concerning because she CUT ME TWICE. One was deep enough to draw blood. During our small talk, I learned that this location has been around for 15 years, and it seemed like nothing had been updated since. Walls, floors, chairs, and towels all looked dull and tired, not exactly inspiring confidence in their services. After underestimating the wait time by 30 mins and being rough enough to cut me twice, she asked for a tip THREE times. When I simply paid the $47 + $1 card fee, she immediately looked at the receipt and said, verbatim, "wait, no tip?" Kim's Nails & Spa lacks even a modicum of cleanliness, gentleness, or etiquette. It's not even about the money, but if it were, there's plenty of other salons where $47 will get you a clean space and a nail tech that doesn't cut you or aggressively solicit tips. I'm having the worst luck finding a solid north park nail salon :( I tried this place out early December because it had 4.2 stars and it's right by my place. The person who did my nails was an absolute sweetheart but I have never had such awful nails and I tried so hard to like them but omg??? Literally every time I looked at them I noticed something wrong? The texture was also just so strange. And this was done 2 days before my engagement photoshoot. I got my brows done too but I can't even post my eyebrows because they were so so so bad it's actually humiliating how bad it looked before I got them fixed and my skin was so irritated for the next 24 hours. I got my gel professionally removed the following week or so at another salon and that was super embarrassing because there was sooo much gel and the design was so awful. I think they must've thought I tried to do my own nails. The service was really slow, design was poorly done, everything felt so unsanitary, and I was just overall so uncomfortable the entire time. Their English is very bad that it was hard to communicate they uncharged me and did not understand what I was saying. I just wanted to get out of there, I felt scammed. I was in the area on a Sunday, checked the reviews, and decided to stop by this salon first thing in the morning. One review described it as a "hole in the wall," which can sometimes mean a hidden gem - but unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me. I asked for a full set with an almond shape and a small holiday bow design. From the start, I didn't feel confident that the lady knew what she was doing, and the process seemed unsanitary. At one point, she pulled scissors from a pencil jar to cut the acrylic nail. When another customer arrived, she began rushing through my service, standing for the remainder of the appointment and skipping steps to finish quickly. I work in the beauty industry as a licensed esthetician so I don't like leaving bad reviews, truly. This is the most disgusting establishment I have ever sat in. There is visible dirt EVERYWHERE, they reuse the liners for pedicures, and do not wash their towels (they hang dry). I sat down with my best friend and tried to get a pedicure (we had appointments) but after seeing floaties in the water and seeing them drill into my friends toe nail (she only had regular nail polish on, not gel so the drill was unnecessary). I don't like leaving these types of reviews but my husband said I should and I don't want anyone else getting hurt. I had my acrylics removed and was going to do a new full set. Never ever has anyone removed my acrylics in such a barbaric way... I think the lady that was doing my nails isn't even aware on the process at all. This is how you are supposed to remove it: To remove acrylic nails, first trim and file the top layer of the acrylic, then soak your nails in 100% acetone. For a faster process, you can place acetone-soaked cotton balls on your nails and wrap them with aluminum foil. After 15-20 minutes, gently scrape off the softened acrylic with a cuticle pusher or orange wood stick, and repeat the soaking and scraping process until all the material is removed. The lady didn't remove first layer, she didn't soak it. She just wasn't knowledgeable at all. My left thumbnail cracked and bled in the middle right of my nail bed.... That's how rough the handling was.... I decided to not go forward with a new full set. The owner came over and said as like it's ok we can still cover it and do the set knowing I have a legit wound now... cmon that would legit just get infected. So there was no regard for my health or well being at all. after I kindly refused a new set I told the owner covering a wound on my hand with acrylic is not a good idea. It needs to heal first. When she realized I wasn't going to say yes and kinda like be pushed into it she changed her tone and apologized for the lady who removed my acrylics incorrectly. She even massaged my arms with oil probably in hopes to not got an unhappy customer. I'm not unhappy I just know that what I experienced wasn't safe and I should share if anyone is planning on removing and getting a new acrylic set here Husband paid $35 & $5 tip for the removal service and that's because he didn't know all the details. read more
