Rice balls
Abel T.

Let me just say--this is hands down the best rice ball I've ever had. I got the Cali Mix, which has tuna, salmon, and imitation crab. It was only $3.95, and I originally got it because I'm on a light diet. I could've gone with a bowl, but I decided to keep it simple and go with the rice ball. The flavor blew me away. Everything tasted super fresh, and the mix of proteins was perfect. I ended up going back and getting a second one right after. I also tried it with the fire poke sauce, which had a nice kick and a hint of ginger--so good. The customer service was great too. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place. Five stars, no question. Place is nice and clean. It is a little bit tough getting parking on the weekends, but totally were trying.

Recently got into poke, and honestly, there's no turning back. I've been to this location a few times now, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. I've even stayed to get some work done in the restaurant, which has a chill vibe. I usually go with the large bowl (4 scoops): 2 scoops of salmon, 1 tuna, and 1 Cali mix, then load it up with my favorite toppings. While I've had better poke elsewhere in San Diego, for a chain spot, this place definitely gets the job done.

Awesome customer off the bat immediately greeted. Great fresh selection of seafood protein. Toppings and sauces to customize ur bowl a must. I've been back many times and I'd for sure recommend this place.

I drove all the way from Anaheim Hills just to try Poki One n Half, and it was absolutely worth it! The prices were ridiculously affordable for the quality you get. Everything tasted super fresh and high quality. You can really tell they care about their ingredients. I'll definitely be coming back again!

Regular Bowl

I've been traveling around San Diego recently and am always in the mood for some poke, so I decided to try Poki One N Half. There's few poke places that just hit the spot, but it was THAT good. The girl who took my order was very nice; she let me take my time choosing! They have a good variety of proteins (what other place has scallops!!!!??!). The toppings were also very robust. I got a regular bowl with salmon, spicy tuna, and scallops and it was SO delicious. I'm out of the country now, but I'm still craving it. It might just be my first meal when I get back. The location was a little small and parking was hard to find, as you have to street park, but I think it's absolutely worth it. If you're considering poke for lunch, I recommend here! There's a bit of outside seating and indoor seating. If I had the time, I would've sat outside and just people watched. It's really pretty in that area and close to a lot of cute shops.

Came in right after our flight landed in SD and was so glad we got this. Felt like eating something light and not greasy and this hit the spot! The interior is very casual and we saw lots of people coming for pickup. We each got a bowl with three scoops and we were stuffed. The team was friendly and service was quick. Super fresh and lots of veggies with unlimited toppings!

Been here a couple times and it could get busy. I feel like there short staff sometimes but they make it work. With the influx of ordering online and helping out customers. The salmon is my usually go to and it doesn't disappoint. All the sauces are pretty good and I can't complain on the style of poke bowl. The spicy mayo, fire and OG are my main sauces. I will keep coming here. The portions are off the charts here they don't skimp out on the proteins. Shout out to the workers there for hooking me up with a fat bowl!!!

a. Small Bowl with salmon

My go to poke! Fish is very fresh. A lot of options for toppings. Is it authentic Hawaiian poke? No. But that's not why you come here. I can't comment on service because I've had friends pick it up for me both times I've had it, but from reading other reviews and hearing from other people the service is great! Small bowl has plenty of food and is very filling. This is a great healthy lunch and I will keep coming back. Stopped in for a quick lunch because I was craving poke. There was one person working who seemed to manage the small line that just went through and the orders online that were coming in. I ordered a small bowl with salmon, and was alarmed when the total cost came to $17 after tax. As I understand it, the amount of fix ins are the same between a small, medium, and large bowl, but the amount of scoops of fish is different. I wish this spot had a small with bowl with less fix ins that you can buy for less money, between $10-$12 seems reasonable. The amount of food I got for a small bowl was a ton and was more than I wanted, but had pretty good flavor. For the amount of sides and rice you get, the ratio of fish seems very small, so I'd check out this spot if you want less poke and more sides with your meal. Other than the food, the place itself was extremely loud. I wanted to eat it there, but had to eat it outside because it was just so loud.

c. Large Bowl 4 proteins and all the toppings. $20 enough for two
Lei H.

Really like this place. Fresh ingredients and proteins. We got the large with 4 proteins all the toppings and half rice and half salad base. For about $20 plus $2 tip. They were also pretty nice. Recommend

Two large bowls and Rice Ball - Cali Mix

The best customer service experience I've had in a while. There was a slight rush when I came in and a family ordering 5-6 bowls. Bianca worked so fast, upheld cleanliness standards when things got messy, and was super polite. The food was obviously delicious, per usual :)

Whoa! Poki one N Half you are a total number 1! Came inside and was greeted right away by the friendly staff. Clean and good amount of seating. Fine in or take out option. Loved the options to choose from and was shocked no extra cost for avocado lol. Kid friendly with a menu of their own and miso soup option as a side or option too. My kiddo approved the octopus and imitation crab with salmon salad base. She added avocado, white and green onion and mild sauce. I went for the spicy tuna, scallops, and imitation crab. I did white rice as my base and added on avocado, seaweed salad, garlic crunch, seasoned seeds, spicy sauce, green onion and white onion with masago eggs. Delicious and definitely a great leading competitor in the Poki world! Also added in a ice cream macaron. Staff explained the flavors to the little one which was kind and awesome!

Since I tend to always ask for Italian or Greek food, I felt it was only right for me to acquiesce to what they wanted to eat that night. Blue Water sits about halfway between Old Town and Little Italy on the side of I-5 opposite from the international airport. There are other restaurants clustered in these few blocks that are also popular. If you are willing to walk a few blocks, you can take the trolley here. One orders at the counter and the food is then brought out to you via a placard with a number you put on your table. The service at Blue Water was unremarkable, but, since there was a constant line, you can't expect them to fawn over you. The prices vary, but, for the more "exclusive" slabs of fish, they run a little on the higher side. The interior has woodsy and somewhat seaside nautical decor. It might also take a little bit of work to find a table owing to its popularity. I will eat seafood, and like some types of seafood very much, but I'd say I don't care for more than half of the seafood out there. Here, they feature many types of seafood, all of which are fresh and you can peruse all the glass cases displaying it. Coming from the kitchen, there are some themed and nuanced presentations of it. I didn't need an entire fish market. I just order pieces of fish that can be presented like a piece of steak and, hopefully, with as little cartilage as possible. Similarly, I also like some smaller fish made to look that way, such as trout. I'm not a big fan of shellfish and don't eat clams, mussels, calamari, and others, but do like shrimp and scallops. They seem to put together some nice platters with scallops. I will also eat lobster, but have probably done so less than what one can count on two hands. If someone wants to treat me to the latter, I'm in. The three platters delivered to the table were enjoyed with my friends hosting me here enjoying the food more than I did. To keep things simple, I ordered a trio of fish tacos. They were fairly good. My friends liked their dishes more than I did. I typically wonder if I'm going astray when I'm not giving a business a rating that's in line with the herd. Three stars does indeed mean that a place is fine and Blue Water is fine. I might be doing this because of the service, the pricing of some items such that you wouldn't want to add much on, and the overall appeal of my selected dish. However, since there are many other four and five star reviews, and if you really like fish, Blue Water will most likely be reliable for you.

Twice I got complimentary soup, twice did not. Maybe end of day is better in terms of what they give out. Sometimes there's condiments. Their outdoor eating area kind of changes too a bit sometimes. But every once in a while, hubby has a special request & we make it happen. His San Diego wish? Thursday night all-you-can-eat lobster dinner at 100s Seafood Grill Buffet. And when I say seafood extravaganza, I mean it. Beyond the lobster, there were crab legs, oysters, sushi galore (maki, nigiri & sashimi), lots of Asian specialties plus plenty of American comfort-food favorites to satisfy just about everyone. Now, full disclosure: my feelings were a little mixed, but hubby? He was living his absolute best life. The lobster is served cut in half & broiled, which unfortunately made the meat sort of melt into the shell. Each half ended up being only a couple bites & you did have to wait in line to grab one when fresh trays came out (one half per person at a time). That said, credit where it is due: the kitchen brought out lobster trays pretty regularly, so the wait never felt unreasonable. Meanwhile, hubby proceeded to eat what I can only describe as his body weight in crab legs. His only critique was that he prefers them served hot rather than cold, although the hot butter on draft definitely helped make up for that. I also appreciated how many unique dishes were available beyond seafood, making the buffet feel more interesting than your standard steam-table experience. And for me, the dessert section was a standout, especially the gelato station, which I may or may not have visited more than once. At $56.99, my personal preference would probably be to spend that money at a really good sushi restaurant. But if your dream scenario involves unlimited lobster, crab legs, oysters & a seafood feast where you can try a little bit of everything, this place absolutely delivers. Final verdict? Maybe not my personal seafood fantasy but hubby was THRILLED & sometimes that's the most important review of all. NOM NOM NOM #YUM

We did a total of two "full rounds" with the maximum amount of seafood that we could order in that round, along with the miscellaneous sides and add ons. The eggs and corn were delicious and helped retain that saucy flavor. I do not recommend the French fries, that did taste like freezer food and it did not hold a nice after taste. Surprisingly one of the tasty things was the fried shrimp! The parking is very limited so I can see this as a potential issue to many.
