Was in the mood for some hibachi so decided to give this place a try (without reading the reviews. My mistake). The food is very bland. Not your typical hibachi. Even with the yum yum sauce. The food came out 2 minutes after I ordered. Seems like maybe it's just reheated? Not fresh. My order of spring rolls took longer to come out. I ordered springs rolls so I assumed it came with sauce. Unfortunately it does not. Never been to a hibachi place where they charge you for the sauce that comes with the spring rolls. 20 bucks for all of it. IMO not worth the price. read more

The portions are large. Each entree/ combo came with vegetables & rice. I had Hibachi Chicken, Husband had Tempura Chicken. We shared Crab Rangoons, which came with sweet & sour sauce. The Yum Yum Sauce was good with the chicken, first time having that. The beverages are Pepsi Products, also offer Diet Pepsi & Diet Dr. Pepper. You could add other flavors to your beverage, like vanilla, cherry, lemon. I was so glad this place was open on a Sunday, half the eateries in town are closed on Sunday. Bland. Tough overcooked steak. Literally the worst "hibachi" (if you can even call it that) I have ever tried.

So let's get to it. I ordered from the waiter app, ToGo and got the Teriyaki chicken. The chicken was a little dry, the veggies were delicious and serving was very generous. I didn't use alot of the Yum Yum sauce but it was good. I also got the dumplings and they were fantastic, crispy and delicious. It was a pleasant surprise. I got there about 8:30om and while customer service was terrific and my order was ready when I arrived, the restaurant smelled terrible!! As soon as I opened the door, BAM! I'm so glad I decided to place my order ahead of time and just had to run in a pick it up. I don't know if it was some type of chemical they were using to clean the floor, because they were mopping when I got there, but it was extremely foul. -1 star Other than that, it was good. I give Hibachi Express five stars, not because it is a "fine dining" experience, but rather because I have eaten at Hibachi Express probably more often than any other restaurant in Mobile. It is near my workplace, and I often need to pickup lunch quickly from somewhere close. Before discovering Hibachi Express, I would eat at McDonalds or the other nearby fast food places, and I would feel lethargic and gross for the rest of the day. Once I found out about Hibachi Express, all of that changed. Hibachi Express is just as fast as these other places, it tastes much better, and you can get a much healthier meal. Every time I go, I get the full hibachi chicken without stir fry sauce on white rice. They make it fresh on the grill, and I feel so better for eating it. Do yourself a favor and try here instead of those other fast food places! Also, the people working here are usually super nice. On a rare occasion, they might be overworked and the appearance of the restaurant is not up to par. . .but this is a pretty rare occurrence. read more

Great food, big portions and usually very fresh! I always get the steak and shrimp combo, broccoli only. I would not get this much food for $13 anywhere else! I also enjoy the Asian dumplings. Today I got the teriyaki steak bowl and Asian dumplings to be different and I was very happy! I only paid $12.08 and I was very full and satisfied. I would like to say I read the other comments and THEY DO NOT HAVE ONLINE ORDERING. THEY DO NOT HAVE A WEBSITE. The website that some people have looked at is actually for a different store in Georgia. I had the hibachi beef and crab Rangoon. The hibachi was hot, flavorful and a large portion. The Rangoon was chewy, but flavorful.

I love Hibachi Express. It was definitely a staple in my diet during my college years. While I don't live in Mobile anymore, my fiancé and I always find time to visit Hibachi Express whenever we are in town. My stomach is very sensitive to fast food, so Hibachi Express is great when you want something a little bit healthier than a drive through burger. My go to is the teriyaki bowls. Vegetable, steak, chicken, you cannot go wrong. I always mix all of my sauces in right away. I very rarely finish the large portion size in one sitting, so I always have great leftovers. read more

Never again. I don't mean this location but Hibachi Express as a whole. This was my second time trying it out and, no. This time I tried the shrimp hibachi. It's so far from real hibachi, it's not even funny. It's definitely stir fried rice and shrimp, but mostly in soy sauce. There's no onion, garlic, oil that's detectable. All I tasted was salt. I'll give them one thing, you sure get a lot of rice for the price. It's a filling lunch for a small price. read more

We went here two weeks ago and I forgot to do my reviews that day. We went at 11:30 on Tuesday. A customer was leaving when we came in, but for the next 1/2 hour we were the only customers inside. Several tables needed wiping down. A small boom box sat on the trash can in the corner, not quite tuned on the station so a lot of static came out with the music. The cashier was annoyed by our questions about the menu, so we just stopped asking and ordered... The restroom was clean, as was the drink station, so it was just some areas of the dining room that were disgusting. While we waited for the food I turned the volume off on the radio, not wanting to hear noise. After the cashier brought our food she went back behind the register, then came back out to turn the radio back on. I did tell her to leave it off unless other customers wanted to hear it (we were the ONLY customers). So she went back behind the register. I don't know what she was doing because there were no other customers, but she never came back out to clean the dining room. My friend had wanted the scallops, but they turned out to be those punched fish scallops, not surprisingly, I suppose,. Anyway, we swapped our plates because I didn't mind so much, he ate my chicken. I have eaten at the Hibachi Express on Springhill by Exit 5A, and it was much better. As we left this one that day, a lady came in to pick up an order she had phoned in, and that was the only other customer we saw. read more

So far everything I've ordered there is amaziningly good :))) It's just like ordering a plate of Hibatchi from Mikatos, comes with that scrumptious yum-yum sauce. The food is okay, and there is a lot of it; however, the staff is very rude and unprofessional. The girl taking my order didn't greet me, and left the register to get on her phone. Bloody awful for so many reasons. First off, they had no idea what tofu even was. OK that's acceptable I guess. The veggies tasted freezer burnt and old. The kitchen lady was rude and unfriendly. They had a sign by the counter that said "if you do not like our food we will not give you your money back but will give you credit for more food" Gee thanks. Stay away! "Hibachi" veggies and "fried" rice amounted to some kind of soggy brown colored rice and stale veggies, better described as slop.

This is a pretty good restaurant. I did not know if I would like food from Hawaii because it's from another country but it was pretty good. You can get you a thing called a eggroll that is like a Hawaiian hush puppy. I got me 9 of them with some rice. I got me some soy sauce to go on the hush puppies because that is what Hawaiian people use since they don't have ketchup. And a cokecola. It was pretty good. read more

This place was not good at all. The workers have a blank empty look i their eyes! However, they are good at pointing. If you ask a question they will point to your answer if possible. I had chicken and replaced the rice with noodles. The noodles tasted like the variety that you purchase at wal mart and add boiling water.... And I am being very serious. The chicken was OK at best. I've been here 3 times and the 3rd time was the straw that broke the camel's back. Today they served me old food. The veggies were brown! I've never known broccoli to be brown. When I returned it, the cook looked like I bothered him. My food came out in less than 1 minute so I decided to check it before leaving. I'm glad I did. I asked them if they would eat that. Everybody just looked at me. He gave me some "fresher" veggies which were actually green this time. He could have done that from the beginning, but I guess he thought he was getting over on me. Love the food here so far. Been here several times and its always been good. Actually, it's better than some expensive hibachi restaurants. At under $6 for a box FULL of chicken teriyaki it is hard to go wrong. My wait is usually a couple of minutes at most. I have no other hibachi express to judge against so this is the best I can do. The service was fast and pleasant and the portion was huge, but the food was horrible. The chicken was dry and loaded with salt. So loaded that It should have been listed as double salted hibachi on the menu . The rice was also on the dry side but it was digestible. There was a posting for cooks and cashiers on the door. This place is horrible. I ordered the steak and chicken combo. The steak was like beef jerky and I didn't care for it, so I gave it to my boyfriend. I tried the chicken and it was horrible too. The rice was old and so were the vegetables. It tasted like it had been reheated and doused in soy sauce. When I went back to the counter to ask if I could have something different 97% of the food is still on the plate and the cashier says: "but you ate steak". Me: "Uhm, no. My boyfriend did. Can I just get a bowl of rice and vegetables?" Cashier "agh, ok. I give you rice bowl and vegetables". You're not GIVING me anything. I paid 11 dollars for reheated garbage! Plus their tea is siting out in pitchers on the counter by the drink fountain. Can you say, unsanitary? Do yourself a favor and don't ever eat here, for any reason. read more

Ordering take out sushi with 3 vegetable items included seems to be too much of an effort for this chef to complete! I asked for 3 vegetable items to be place in a sushi roll and told that they(that is, the chef would not do this for me!! Unbelievable, they can do all sorts of meat and fish with other vegetable but are not willing to put 3 vegetable items, sweet potato, cucumber & asparagus, which they have in stock and yet this is too much trouble for them to do! Great food but not consistently great. I guess it's depends on who is in the kitchen when it comes to freshness and serving size. I still go back however about 2 times a month. I like it's fast when you call ahead and pick up. Nice when I work late. Still better than the Saraland location. ###update 5/21/16 food was terrible and dry. Hardly any vegetables at all. I'm most likely never going there again! read more
