From my reconnaissance results, everything was wonderful at this restaurant. The hostess greeted me immediately and gave me a tour of the restaurant when I told her that I was surveying and comparing different Japanese restaurants in the area. She asked questions about my event and what I wanted in the experience. The restaurant was bright and clean, which I absolutely loved. Other places were way too dark for my preference. We toured the bar area, the sushi area, and the hibachi area. Everything was clean, organized and inviting. The hostess was very friendly, informative and helpful. She asked about the times that I might come and even suggested the best times for particular days. I felt so comfortable that I wanted to end the tour and order something to eat on this mission, but I decided against it until I found out that they serve dim sum. Since these delicacies are generally not available where I live, I decided to try a few of my favorites. While the taste of the shrimp & pork dumplings was underwhelming, the sesame balls were perfect. I am excited to bring my family here for the hibachi experience and I will update this review afterward. Update after the hibachi experience. When the five of us arrived on a Friday at 5:30 PM, we were greeted immediately. My tour guide from the previous day, remembered me and told the hostess to seat us at a special table. Then the usual process of hibachi started. Our cook was very interactive, funny and entertaining. He prepared our food wonderfully, seasoned it well and entertained us expertly. My cousin, whom had never experienced a hibachi dinner/entertainment prior to this, thoroughly enjoyed her dinner and raved about coming back sometime soon. The concept is great: all-you-can-eat sushi and Japanese food for around $25/person, but instead of a traditional buffet, you order from the menu and everything is brought to the table. Just know they charge $1 for each piece of sushi left uneaten, depending on the roll. We tried a little of everything. I ordered the hibachi chicken and my husband ordered the teriyaki chicken. Both came out fairly quickly, but both were dry AF. The sushi, on the other hand, was actually good and tasted fresh. Service was another story. Some of our sushi took around 20 minutes to arrive...and we're talking two pieces at a time. Then came the part I couldn't overlook. One piece of sushi arrived with hot eel and spicy mayo on top, but the fish itself wasn't warm, which immediately made me question how long the rice had been sitting. I also noticed spots in one of the sauces that looked like something growing in a Petri dish. I asked whether the sauces were prepared ahead of time and was told yes, they're made in advance and refrigerated. And then I went to the bathroom. Nope. It was dirty enough that I decided I could hold it until I got home. For me, when the restroom isn't clean in a restaurant, it makes me question what's happening in the areas I can't see. Overall: Yes, it's only about $25 a person. But inexpensive doesn't mean my standards for cleanliness, food handling, or service disappear. I'd rather spend more or skip the all-you-can-eat concept altogether and go somewhere else. The sushi itself had potential, but between the dry entrées, slow service and cleanliness concerns, I wouldn't return.
