Great location! Small & cute !! I called in my order and it was ready in 10minutes like they stated. The employees spoke upon me entering the restaurant. Chicken and Shrimp were cooked to perfection. I had enough for 2-servings. I absolutely loved how they had large bottles of white sauce / hot sauce at the counter. I was able to pour a little spicy on my to-go food before I left. Hibachi Junior express is hands-down the best hibachi I've had since I moved in North Carolina. The owner Sophie takes pride in her work and her food - sourcing only the best quality of meats and vegetables. Today we tried the vegetable lo mein which is a new dish that they've come out with along with several other lo mein. The fried dumplings are fantastic and they come with a dipping sauce that is amazing!! I have yet to get an item from Hibachi Jr Express that hasn't been packed full of flavor and cooked to perfection! Due to Covid they are only offering to-go right now. They have a door that you can walk up to place your order pay and then wait for your food. I hate vegetables. Except from Habachi Express. Their white sauce make make lived taste good. I had the shrimp and teriyaki chicken with onion, zucchini, and broccoli. The shrimp was grilled and very tasty. The chicken was in the retail sauce but the sauce was understated and not salty as teriyaki sometimes is. I'm a meat eater but the proteins were outshined by the vegetables which were delicious and dipped in the White sauce was like eating a vegetable dessert. The service is very quick and friendly! We were immediately greeted with welcome. The lunch meals are a great deal and come with a free drink. There is plenty of seating, even for larger groups. The food arrived to the table quickly. I got the hibachi chicken with rice. It was warm, fresh, and delicious! The restaurant is very clean and received a 98 sanitation rating. We ate in but should have just gotten it to go. No service after we ordered, no one was around. The food brought out in to go boxes and a .75 cent up charge for water. While the protein was good and cooked well, the veggies were over salted and the fried rice had too much pepper. Skip the onion soup, tasted like it came from a mix. Won't come back. read more

First time here today. Ordered filet and chicken , waited almost 20 mins and another customer who came in after me got served first. Portion size was so-so and the "steak" had fat and gristle, so def. not real filet mignon . The chicken and veg wasn't bad, rice was a bit oily . Surprisingly good Japanese for being located in a strip mall wedged between a Food Lion and a Pizza Hut. I ordered their veggie grill with rice and it was very delicious and remarkably cheap for how tasty it was. Definitely coming back here next time I find myself out this way! read more

This place just opened a week ago. So I have to cut it some slack. But my food arrived cold, and I got a good sized chunk of grissle that I couldn't chew. The taste was alright, like most express Japanese places. I think I would like it better than Go Go Yaki if the food was hot and the chicken was totally good. I have eaten at Hibachi Jr 2 Times now and I will NEVER eat at this place again!!! On BOTH Occasions I ordered Hibachi Chicken dinner, NEVER in ALL the years of me eating Japanese Food , have I EVER tasted or seen such a horrible meal. The chicken was on BOTH Occasions part FAT and part Chicken. And honestly it didn't even taste like it was Chicken!!! I've NEVER had to remove or cut off FAT from a prepared and cooked meal. I usually don't do reviews but if you like noodles instead of rice do not go here. It's literally ramen noodles and I paid $1.50 extra. Everything else was pretty good but you could go eat where they cook in front of you for about the same price. read more
