    Hickory Creek Winery.

My husband and I cannot recommend this winery enough. We love wine tasting and have done wine tasting in quite a few wineries in Michigan. This is by far our favorite!. By the time you leave, you will feel like family. It is a small, independent winery, unlike others in the area. As you drive up the drive you drive alongside the vines. The wines are delicious and adam the owner is knowledgeable and so engaging. It is a little off the beaten path, but so well worth it. You will not regret it.

Mark set the bar high for the other wineries of the day. He was so attentive, informative, helpful, and friendly. We loved our tastings with him! Our group ended up buying 6 bottles, having an additional 2 glasses of mulled wine, and one glass of wine. If you're in the area (or even if you're not) stop in!

Noting that this place is consistently excellent. Large group wine tastings are such a good option for those local and not from the area. (I would make a reservation for groups over six people to ensure a spot.) The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. There are charcuterie boards and pizza options for those who want a quick bite. Worth the drive from wherever you are coming from.

This is a veteran owned business. So shout out for that. Wine was amazing and a good selection. There is something for everyone. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Stopped by Hickory Creek at around 2pm on a Friday. Our group got one glass of the 2021 Grüner Veltliner and a tasting. A (5) glass tasting was $15 and individual glass pours are offered in two sizes: 5oz or 7.5oz. It was a bit chilly outside so we sat inside the winery. It was rather small but additional outdoor seating is available for sunnier days. Soon after we started our tasting, a group of 9 as well as other smaller parties arrived. We immediately felt brushed to the side as everyone else began to be taken care of. It was about ten minutes that we waited for the second tasting glass to be served in which we had to go up to the bar and ask for it. If one sits outside, you get all tastings at once; but inside, they serve you one glass at a time which did not work out well in this instance. Our server was not giving us any information on the wines like the woman behind the serving counter was to guests. It was also disappointing to see so many awarded wines around the shop but none offered on their tasting menu. All of the wine glasses we had also had a particular smell that was off putting and took away from the tasting experience. Overall we were a bit disappointed after hearing such high remarks about Hickory Creek.

I have been going to western Michigan to wine taste since before they charged for tastings--that's a LOOOONG TIME! HICKORY CREEK WINERY is among the best and I'm glad I spent my birthday there this year. I don't like all the post-COVID changes, but all the wineries have made many so it is what it is. I urge you to visit! A special thank you to winemaker Jasmine Parkinson!!! She knows her wines!

Cute small winery in southwest Michigan. The wines were OK but not my favorite. The staff were super friendly though and the property is both kid- and dog-friendly!

This is a nice little place, friendly staff. The grounds are nice. I tried the Apple, Summit, Traminette, Gentil Rose, and Rouge Doux. They were good but I did not find any that I like enough to buy. I tend to prefer sweeter wines though.

A great spot on the wine trail--the perfect combination of a cool vibe, not too much merch, and chatty tasting room consultants. We walked away with three bottles since they have a special deal that 3 bottles or more cancels out your tasting fee. They also have outdoor seating and a bonfire pit. This was one of my two must-try spots and It was a good choice.

This was another outstanding winery tucked in the country side. It was easy to find. The house/tasting room was welcoming and comfortable. On this occasion Hickory Creek was hosting several parties with reservations. This was a bit odd to us as we don't usually encounter large parties, buses or limos at wineries. I will admit that the team here did an outstanding job managing these parties. My wife and I sat at a table inside and spent a lot of time with Jamie. Jamie knew his products and wines. He was very well versed at walking us through tastings to meet our tastes. He was very engaging and friendly. He did an outstanding job at managing all the tastings that were in process while making us feel special. Overall we found several dry reds that fit our pallet. We really liked the Pinot Noir. Give Hickory Creek a try !

My friends and I came to the area for a bachelorette party wine tour. This location was the third stop on our trip. This is the smallest winery in the region but we got to interact with the staff the most at this location. They were super knowledgeable about everything and you could tell how much they loved winemaking. They greeted us outside as we walked up and gave us a choice of inside our outside. They let us know that could have a guided tasting inside or a flight board outside. We opted for the guided tasting since we all are pretty much novices. These were probably some of the more sophisticated wines that we tasted. I was not a fan but again I am not really a wine person, I was just along for the ride. We did get to try a test pilot wine that was made from hybrid grapes that didn't even have a name yet. That was pretty cool. We loved hearing about the history of things and getting a more in-depth description of each wine. And playing on the vintage tractor out front.

Excellent old world style wines. The 2008 cab franc tastes straight out of Loire Valley. The 2012 Syrah is lush yet austere.

We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

There were wine bottles everywhere, displays throughout the room, and just a lot to look at while you walked around. Our server was super nice and made the whole tasting really easy. We started with the fruit and cider flight, and that was actually a lot of fun. It was interesting trying them back to back and seeing how different each one tasted. But the one that really surprised me was the Key Lime Pie Martini. I was NOT expecting a dessert in drink form. The rum cream gave it that smooth, creamy sweetness, while the lime brought a bright, slightly tart kick that tasted just like key lime pie. The vanilla and cream made it silky and the graham cracker rim finished it off with that buttery sweetness. It honestly tasted like someone turned a slice of key lime pie into martini and somehow it worked perfectly. Every sip was sweet, creamy, tangy, and just a little refreshing. Definitely the drink I wasn't expecting to love as much as I did. For my first wine tasting experience, I'd say it was a pretty great introduction.
