My husband and I found Hickory Ridge Restaurant on Yelp. The portions we good and hot. We enjoyed fried shrimp special with sides of fries and corn nuggets, which were run of the mill. The other sides were Mac and cheese , onion rings which were good. Service was very good, checked on us many times without being intrusive. read more

I have ordered from here regularly using door dash with no problems - until today. Everything I ordered tasted off- the burgers were dry and had an unpleasant after taste, the bbq sauce was questionable, my fries wet, undercooked, and flaccid, and evening the marinara sauce for our mozzarella sticks tasted old and off. Neither or our orders were on point and both ended up half eaten and in the garbage. The only edible thing was the Mac n cheese. I am hoping this was a fluke- as I've had really good food from here in the past- i will give this place a last chance due to it being really good in the past, and I will update this post hopefully with a much better rating. 12/4/2021 - went for a late breakfast and place was relatively empty. Food was "OK". My omelette was dry and the eggs were over cooked. The bacon was extremely chewy. The strawberries on my daughters waffle looked like they had seen better days and my Daughter removed them from her waffle. The service was severely sub par. The hostess greeted us and was very pleasant but the waitress left us on an island to die. Never checked on us, no refills on water or coffee and then, when we were tired of waiting, we got up to go to the cashier to get our bill when she finally came out handed me the check - in front of the cashier and gave a half hearted apology. I still tipped her (15% well below what I normally do) even though there was relatively no reason. I did inform the hostess of our experience. I won't be back to give it another shot. read more

My wife and I ate breakfast at Hickory Ridge Restaurant today (Sunday)... it was our first visit to this restaurant... and it will probably be our only visit! We arrived about 9:30 AM and stood in the reception area for about five minutes before anyone greeted us (we were the only couple in line). Tables and booths were available for seating, but no one seemed to be paying attention to the entrance (several waitresses walked right past us while we waited and never inquired whether we had been greeted). When the ??hostess?? finally appeared, she seated us, took our drink order, then left ( It would have been nice if she told us the name of the waitress who would be serving our table). She forgot about our drinks. About 5 minutes later, our waitress arrived, took our food order and re-took our drink order. We found her to be friendly and efficient (she kept my coffee cup filled). When our food arrived (the kitchen was running slow), my wife was very pleased with the pancake meal she ordered. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of my meal. My "over easy" eggs arrived overcooked, the hash-browns were lukewarm, the country fried steak was "just OK", but the gravy topping the country fried steak was tasteless. I am aware that local restaurants are having difficulty hiring staff. That might explain why the kitchen was running slow, but it does NOT explain the disappointing quality of my food order and the lack of hospitality we experienced upon our arrival. It was apparent to me that no competent person was in charge of the front of the house during our visit. On the plus side... the menu prices are very reasonable. read more

Wow!! Was on a long road trip and stopped at Hickory Ridge for lunch, and it was wonderful! Not sure where to start, but here we go: Atmosphere - delightful. Warm, welcoming, homey, super clean. Staff -. super friendly, warm and clearly proud of their restaurant (and they should be ) Food - again, wow!!! after ordering, while waiting, my waitress brought a biscuit and apple butter. Let me be clear here, the biscuit was fabulous - buttery, moist, everything you could want in a biscuit. As for the apple butter, it was heavenly!! Not too thick and heavy, and sang with apple and spices. I can't say enough about it. My chicken salad was on a wonderful bread (wheat berry?), clearly made that day and served with bacon in the sandwich (as all fabulous chicken salad sandwiches have). As for the hash brown casserole, if hash browns got married and had a baby, this is it! Just get it. I had the Ridge Special Breakfast. Eggs, just right. The sausage links were so delicious. They were juicy and had a great snap on the casing. The hash brown casserole was absolutely delicious!!! Perfectly cheesy and seasoned. The biscuit was incredible!!! Prefect texture, fantastic taste, buttery. It was everything a biscuit should be, the flawless incarnation of my idea of a biscuit. I should've taken a basket of them with me. It was perfectly paired with the homemade apple butter. I put some of the apple butter on my pancakes, it was a great idea. Stopped here because of the positive reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. Two in our party ordered the roasted turkey and stuffing and enjoyed it very much. The portion was generous for the price. I ordered the crab cake and loved it, it was one of the better crab cakes I have enjoyed in awhile. Very generous portion. Typical country style restaurant. Good prices. Good basic good. I would stick to the mainstays of this kind of place: turkey/beef and gravy, meatloaf, burgers, fries. If they have the fried chicken, try it. It's only available as the special. It's the old school fried in a skillet chicken. Best thing I've had there so far. Last visit I had haddock imperial. Meh. Overcooked. Dry. Not very flavorful. Others with me like their fish that way, and enjoyed it. Sides are inconsistent. Broccoli was cold and undercooked. Fries are good; thick but not as crispy as I like. Others love 'em. Crab soup is tasty, but Italian wedding was just ok....too salty with a few mushy meatballs and mushy pasta and greens. We visited this establishment based on the reviews posted here being - for the most part favorable. Well.... We had a sub par experience at best. My buddy ordered the scrapple breakfast and was served everything the menu indicated would be on his plate minus the one key item that it advertised --- the scrapple! How does a cook or a waitress serve a menu item missing the main part of what was ordered???!!! When he asked about it the waitress apologized and said that she would bring it out. A few minutes later he asked the waitress again - where was the scrapple? She offered him hash browns bacon or toast - he explained that he only wanted the scrapple that he ordered. The waitress just looked at him blankly and apologized again... He then told her that he would just eat what he was served as maybe he wasn't meant to get scrapple apparently. My meal (the Durango) was luke warm if that and very small in portion. My wife's meal was small as well and cold. I really had high hopes for this place seeing the menu but we ended up very unsatisfied ultimately. read more

My wife and I went to this restaurant for breakfast on Sunday. The sausage gravy was cold, the crepe had a consistency of a won ton. The eggs were almost like prepackaged, and so on. In my memory this was the worst buffet I've experienced. There was no menu which made us try the buffet. I should have left then but I'm always up for giving something a try.
