We've been here twice since it opened, both times for breakfast. They have a nice selection of breakfast items, and you can view all of their menus on their website, which is sometimes helpful. The food is genuinely good and tastes freshly cooked. Eggs are well cooked, not slimy or over-done and home fries had a wonderful crisp to them. Bacon is thicker than diner-style, but was well-done and crispy, just how I like it. The coffee is also good, and water/soda/tea comes to you in cool Mason jars. If you went to the previous 2 restaurants which occupied this space, don't let that spoil your view on this new one. It is NOTHING like the previous ones (Diamond Plate and Sunset Diner). They completely re-did the interior, it has a country setting, warm, neutral colors and very welcoming. Staff was friendly, attentive, and happy to help both times. Food came out hot and at good speed. Prices for breakfast are very reasonable. The one visit, my mom asked if she could substitute a small bowl of oatmeal instead of home fries. They had no problem with that, and gave her quite a large bowl, all at no additional charge. Now, that all may change in the future, but if not, wonderful. Allowing substitutions is kind of a big deal to me, not everyone wants what comes with a meal. I can understand the need to charge for a more "premium" substitution, but portion sizes can be controlled in those circumstances in order to not have to charge. If you haven't yet, try it out. I don't know how lunch and dinner are, but breakfast is good. read more

Soup was excellent, homemade chicken corn was my choice - yummy. & when my chopper steak arrived, it was AWESOME, not some little glorified hamburger but 12 ounces of chopped steak, thick & juicy, smothered in a mushroom & onion gravy. We were told by professionals in the area this was one of the better restaurants. Happily we discovered this is very true. The owner is definitely invested in all his customers having a quality experience. The food is top-notch quality. We brought our family of 5. I had brisket sandwich and it was the bests brisket I've had in my 52 years of being a foodie. Other food ordered that night were the ribs (foodie hubs said best ever), Brisket Rueben (daughter really liked it), steak (other daughter still asking to go back to have another) and one more I can't remember what she got. My family & I drive past this restaurant a few times a week and for some reason never tried it. We have gone to small places like that & have always been disappointed. Bad food, high prices, or both. But tonight we thought we would go there. I am so glad we did because it was outstanding. The wait staff was extremely nice - and not in the fake way we can all spot immediately. Genuinely nice and friendly. The food was better by far than anything you will get at Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel. I got the 2 piece pan fried chicken & 1/4 rack of ribs dinner. My sides were REAL mashed potatoes & gravy and hash brown casserole. The very pleasant waitress brought us biscuits and apple butter, too. I could have filled up on those, to be honest. The chicken was just like my mom used to make. Normally, I hate white meat because it is so dry. Not so here. It has been years since I have had white meat chicken as good as that. And the rib meat just fell off of the bone! The place was packed with families, but was not loud at all. It was extremely clean, and so were the restrooms. This site has been through one restaurant after another and all were pretty bad. I was hesitant to try again but went for a late breakfast with my kids seeing as they have all day breakfast. The minute I walked in I could tell a difference! The decor was warm and cozy and the staff was very nice! I ordered the western omelette with home-fries and my sons ordered waffle and bacon. Food was delivered quickly, hot, and was delicious!! The bacon is some of the best I have had and was cooked exactly like we like it. I am glad we gave it a try because I will definitely be back! Beware! Tip Padding Make sure you check your credit card receipt. Our server helped herself to a $10 tip on a $42.00 bill for a party of four. The service was good, and I authorized a tip of 20% of the pre-tax value of the dinner. Low and behold, the waitress felt comfortable giving herself an almost 25% tip on the post-tax amount. Wonderful family dinner! My wife ordered the Reuben, but with a dairy allergy, they were great about substituting out the cheese for cole slaw. (It was great, by the way) I ordered the special of two pieces of chicken and 1/4 slab of ribs. Both were fall-off-the-bone delicious! Before dinner, the made from scratch biscuits and apple butter were amazing! My young sons split the burger basket, and reported that it was a 'great burger'. So glad to see a good restaurant go in. This location has had difficulties in the past, to be sure. I'm glad to see Hickory Ridge is doing well. We went for lunch and I greatly enjoyed the waffles with chicken and gravy. This is hard to find in most places. Everything was good. Potatoes could have been cooked a bit more, but that is minor. The only complaint we had was that they seemed to still be working out some bugs in their service and brought things out at different times. Kitchen staff was helping wait staff deliver and there was an element of miscommunication. Still, for a nice and inexpensive home cooked meal, it was quite nice. The decor is nice as well. read more
