The service was excellent. Carol and Vinny were very friendly and genuine. I did have an issues with an item that is no longer on the menu. Salsa and chips. My friends and I come to the restaurant every few months to enjoy the atmosphere. We always get the salsa and chips before our meal. Today I ordered grilled chicken nachos deluxe to find out you no longer have salsa. I'm having to eat dry nachos. It looks like the menu has less items to offer but you take out something so simple as chips and salsa. Please bring them back. read more

Excellent service from Dannie! Our food came out quickly, piping hot, and absolutely delicious. The fried pickles were especially amazing! Vinny also stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our meal, and his friendly, customer-focused attitude made the experience even better. Had to run back and try out something from my last visits:) This time I ordered the Cedar Salmon with broccoli, yellow rice, Macaroni and cheese. It was so delicious! The salmon was tender and perfectly seasoned. I love salmon that is moist with a smoky taste! I should have ordered an extra one, haha. The broccoli was fresh and had a naturally seasoned taste, a the macaroni and cheese had a creamy texture. It wasn't too cheesy. It had just enough cheese to coat the pasta noodles evenly. Oh, and the yellow rice was fluffy, which I absolutely love. Everything was prepared well, and I ate every drop of it:) The service is always great there plus the restaurant was well lit and clean. This is a local place. I did like that inside it had a lot of local references: quotes and paraphernalia. But I felt the food was just ok. I think I was expecting too much. The shrimp for me had too much sauce on them. Then the burger wasn't anything special, it really needed more seasoning. My wife and I had given up on Hickory Tavern. Poor service, so so food, long wait times for service, long wait times for food, we just gave up. Last Sunday, we were looking for brunch, but all our first choices were packed, we decided to give HT another try. As soon as we were seated, Janiyah came to our table. She took our drink orders and was back in minutes. My wife and I just looked at each other in shock at the quick service. After several trips to check on us, Janiyah took our order. Definitely recommend this place for tasty bar food, beers and more TVs than you can shake a stick at! On a short visit to the area to see Congaree Natl Park, we ate here twice in two days, and the service on the first day left something to be desired (it was World Cup final day, so perhaps they were a bit overrun). But the food was nice--including a fairly healthy grilled chicken sandwich w/fresh veg & crispy skin-on fries--so we decided to try it again for some post-hike comfort food and a lunch beer. Glad we did because Sally was great, friendly and attentive, and the food was even better the second time. When I searched my credit card statement online, I was charged $25.00 for my meal plus an additional $36.23. That is robbery and not fair to patrons. Wanted to find somewhere to transfer an early dinner and watch some college football. I've been to this spot before but it had been a couple of years so I didn't know what to expect.
