Located across street from Sam's in Irmo SC. I've been here twice now, it is a good location for a business, lots of parking, large dining inside. There are two picture backdrops for ops nice touch. I like that if dine-in not much wait for seating. Service can be hit or miss based on the server, ours has been hit and miss. Basing my review on the fish baskets as I haven't ordered the boil bag. We like that get two-four fish filets lightly breaded w a side. My side has been waffle fries and then white rice last time. I remember the fries were too salty for my taste and the rice was not cooked through IMO. The cocktail sauce they have is prepackaged, to me it tastes like sweet ketchup just fyi for the business owner. It would be added value to customer if perhaps with the baskets they could include 1 or 2 hush puppies along with the choice of side. We have had the corn here which is fine as they will season it various levels of heat. I think this restaurant is a decent choice for small or large parties, the side issues can be easily corrected. read more

Our server Imanni was spot on and all over it. She totally took care of my family tonight. Given the opportunity, ask for her section. I've had my fair share of boils all up and down the East coast and I have to say that Juicy Crab holds it own . Nothing was over cooked. The potatoes and corn were perfect, the shrimp and crab clusters were exceptional. A lot of time the shrimp will be rubbery and the crab shells soft...but not here. I was more than pleased with my meal and I got to say that the house special (a blend of all the offered flavors) on the boil was very tasty. It was truly a finger licking experience. **Review: Juicy Crab Harbison** My recent visit to Juicy Crab Harbison with my mom was deeply disappointing. The air conditioning was not working, making the dining area uncomfortably warm. The sweet tea was over-brewed with a terrible aftertaste. A customer dropped a glass on the floor, and it remained there for over 20 minutes, despite the manager being nearby and not assisting her struggling staff. Upon seating, we noticed multiple wet areas on the floor without any warning signs. We had to inform our server to place a wet floor sign to prevent accidents. This was our second visit, and sadly, it reinforced our poor impression of this location. The overall experience was far from pleasurable, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking good seafood. At checkout, the manager asked if everything was okay and I indicated "no" and she wanted off without a simple "is there anything i can do", "I'm sorry for the experience" or simply "can you tell me what was wrong"? I was not looking for anything to be taken off because I understand it's seafood, but it's the common courtesy of genuine customer service. you would want to at least try to make some valid compromise for a return visit however that was not the case. My husband and I came here for a late lunch/early dinner and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Our server Nichole was the reason I'm giving them an extra star because the seafood was just okay. We ordered the 3lb snow crab special and added crawfish with the juicy crab seasoning. We also got hush puppies for an appetizer. The hush puppies were really hot and fresh. They came with honey butter but my husband really loved them with cocktail sauce. The crawfish were really tasty. But for the price of the crab legs I was really disappointed. It was almost like the crab had been frozen for so long they pretty much disintegrated in the shell. The shell was also soft and rubbery and you couldn't crack them. The shrimp, potatoes and corn were really good and cooked well. I just think for over $100 the crab legs should be fresh. Also, if you are sensitive to music I would recommend finding another place to eat because it was a little extra with the rap music blaring while I was trying to enjoy my meal. read more

Absolutely horrible experience at The Juicy Crab. We expected a short wait and were okay with the initial 30 minutes to be seated. But what followed was beyond frustrating. It took over an hour and a half just to get our appetizer! When our main food finally came out, it was completely wrong. No apology, no urgency, and no care from the staff. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I will never go back and absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. Returned with a friend on a Saturday evening. We were supposed to have a 30 minute wait, but it only ended up being a 15 minute wait. Our waitress informed us that there would be an extra wait on the seafood side, so we ordered some hush puppies for starters; they came with some boom boom sauce. I can't remember how long we waited for our food because we were talking the entire time, but it did not seem excessively long. I ordered the boil with the shrimp, mussels, corn, potatoes, and sausage. I got the Juicy Special (all of the seasoning mixes) with a medium spice level. I love the boil bags because all of the food is coated in the seasoning. It had lots of garlic, which I love, and the seasonings were perfect. The medium was tad spicier than I expected, so I will likely do mild next time. We had leftovers, and got paper bags and plastic bags for it. The food definitely warms up well if you like leftovers. First time visiting with my wife and I. When the place is that big and it's mostly empty on a Friday night that's a big warning sign. The place has an identity crisis. We went for a seafood boil and we got a place that didn't know if it's a restaurant, sports bar or club. The bartenders were bored and blasting mumble rap ( I assume it was the bartenders.... they were just looking for something to do.) All the while they are playing golf clips on the TV... which doesn't really pair well. We ordered a boil to share and were a little surprised when they gave us plastic utensils to break through snow crab clusters. Our waitress was a sweetheart and found us some scissors at least. The food was ok, but overly salty... my wife quipped that was likely intentional to sell some alcohol. Given the schizophrenic nature of the place, it's not a do over. This was our first time here. Columbia doesn't have a great selection for cajun shellfish boil. We used to reside in Myrtle and enjoyed the great seafood restaurants there. We have tried several others in Columbia and didn't opt to return. Like other restaurants, TJC is short handed, but the bartender hustled and didn't keep you waiting too long. I had a margarita and my wife had a coconut Tequila pineapple drink. Both were great. The food comes out in a plastic bag on a stainless steel platter. It is served soaked in the juice flavored like you select. I ordered hot cajun shrimp and snow crab with a side of sausage. This combo came with 1/2 an ear of corn and a small potato. The hot lit me up, but had a great flavor--but get ready for a flavor-able mess. They provide a bib, bucket, gloves and plenty of napkins. They gave me about a pound of sausage, eight jumbo shrimp and two clusters of claws. It was cooked to perfection. The crab shells were firm and had to be cracked. Many legs pulled out whole. The shrimp is peel and eat and all tasted fresh. My wife ordered the same, but medium cajun flavor. We both eat spicy food frequently. She said the medium was just right with a moderate heat and the perfect flavor. She gave me five shrimp as she had plenty of food. I already have decided what I will order the next time. We used about 15-20 napkins. As my Korean friend told me, "Good seafood isn't cheap, and cheap seafood isn't good." read more

Came in with a party of 3 for lunch on a Saturday. I called first to make sure they were opened. A person named Raven answered the phone, she was not very polite and I almost changed my mind about coming in. Once we got there and sat down a server named Tamira came to our table. The server was nice and she walked us through the menu. The food came out and the server only brought 2 paper plates instead of three, forgot one of the bibs and didn't bring the crab cracking thing. They also didn't have buckets or anything besides cheap paper plates or to go boxes. It was annoying but we survived. The manager Raven ( same person who answer the phone earlier) came to the table, she was scratching her neck the whole 3 seconds she asked if we were ok, with the same lack of enthusiasm she answer the phone earlier, she should not be talking people.... As far as the food, I must say the crab was not bad. I ordered a cluster of snow crab, a cluster of Dungeness crab and sausage. They have a sauce cause "all three" or something like that, which is a combination of all three sauces. The sauce was really good! My goose came with a potato and a small piece of corn too. Overall the experience wasn't horrible. The meal was also not expensive, but I would rather pay a little more for better service. read more

Literally, if I could give 10 stars, I would. My family was visiting from California and this location/staff treated us VERY well. Please ask for Vinniesha as a waitress; she was amazing the whole night. We never had to ask for refills on our drinks, every time our drinks were empty she would bring another one before we could say something. As far as food, for those of you who may like the baskets a little more than the bags, I ordered a combo basket with cajun fries. I was able to get fried shrimp, fried fish, chicken tenders, and fries in one basket for the same price of $13. So, a number of crab and seafood places have recently opened in the Columbia area, makes no sense to me, being this far inland. But hey...The most notable being The Juicy Crab, in the old Ryan's on Bower Pkwy. Tonight (12/28/19) we decided to try it out. We both ordered the hungry feast, which includes: 1 claw of snow crab legs, 0.5lbs shrimp (heads off), 0.5lbs sausage, potato, boiled egg, and corn. I ordered mine in medium heat. The hubs in mild. They bring it out in an oven bag, with everything in it, some plastic plates and fork, and a lined bucket for discard. The most important thing I have to say about this dish, and to be fair - it was the only dish we tried. It was absolutely THE SALTIEST food I have ever put in my mouth. I'm not talking mildly over salted. This was full on hypertensive emergency, and possibly a stroke salty. As I listened to other customers, we weren't the only ones that thought that. I over heard one of the waitresses say, "next time, let us know. We can bring more butter to calm down the saltiness....". Not a joke. I swear she said it. We also had onion rings, which were decent. Our total bill with tip-$85. For. Two. People. Everything is a la cart, basically, with the exception of a few combination platters. Even the sides and condiments are extra. Yes. You heard me correctly. $3 for a side of coleslaw. To be clear, I don't mind paying for good food, but I could have bought a salt block and achieved the same. I didn't complain. I also got the "for your" special & got the juicy special & medium spice level. It came with 1 lobster tail, 1 crab cluster, 1 corn, 1 potato & 1/2-lb shrimp & slice of cheesecake. This place has been under renovation for quite some time and they're finally open. We came here at the request of my oldest and we had a pretty good time. With it just opening there are some kinks that they're working out like getting their liquor license. The kids loved the paper tablecloth, so they spent most of their time drawing. Our server Miyah gave awesome recommendations. I got the Dungeness crab and sausage combo. It came out quickly and tasted wonderful. I really liked the nautical decor.
