This is a restaurant I visit frequently ... the server was very friendly and came to the table when she saw me at down since member of my party was there before me ... Started off with the Pow Pow shrimp .... The serving was very healthy today and heavy on the shrimp. The flavor was also on point also. For my entree I did something and went with the power bowl and it was amazing ... the tuna was prepared perfectly .... The mix of all the ingredients was a perfect combo .. esp just leaving the gym. I'm from out of town, I was hesitant in going from the low-ish rating on here but I'm here to tell you I wasn't disappointed. I sat at the bar, I ordered a simple miller lite, water and their summer special salmon salad. I don't usually get salmon but the salad was absolutely delicious. It is a summer special so not sure how long it will be around, but I think it should be a normal menu item. Another customer, whom ordered ribs that looked amazing, mentioned they love the salads there too. It looks like they have daily specials, I think burgers are half off on Monday's, but I personally wanted something lighter that evening. Food came out quick. Bartender was nice and checked in on me through out the meal. Outdoor seating looks nice too if hanging with a group when it's not too hot out. I recommend checking them out! read more

I always go to the bar but there is a large dining room with outdoor seating. They have a fireplace and tvs outside too. I definitely spent last Christmas there out on the patio! This place needs to move. We are dying for a great restaurant in this plaza and we only have this dump. I don't get how it survives. If you're going to serve grill style food, at least do it well. Expect overcooked burgers, dirty plates, poor service and a filthy restaurant. They clearly get a heavy drinking crowd because the bar area smells like a trashy old bar. We sat in high tops in the bar area and changed to dining area. Expect large groups with kids when you go here. Teams go here because it's the only place they can get in. read more

We had to wait about ten minutes before someone came to wait on us. However, the waitress, named "T" was fantastic. We complained about how no one had waited on us and she apologized and immediately took our order. Two minutes later she came back with the manager in tow. Josh was a very personable man and he too apologized. He also said he would comp our meal as a way to make it up to us. The food was great (my wife had a double burger and I had a pulled pork sandwich. We both felt like we would happily come back, hopefully with friends. We had a great evening out spending time with friends at the Hickory Tavern. Easy, laid back sports bar with attentive servers. The manager came out to see us as well to make sure everything was going well. We had several appetizers and all the entrees came out perfect. Nothing was especially amazing and there was nothing noteworthy on the menu but they did a great job with the bar food basics that they do offer. Great TV's if you were there to actually see the game. It looked like there was a crowd of regular single guys who came in after a long day at work. I believe the main draw here is the TV's and beer. I personally am a big fan of the patio during the warmer weather. It's a nice place to eat dinner. I have had issues in the past with the service here as per the other reviews but I was pleasantly surprised that we had a great evening. Everything worked out perfectly. I am hopeful that they are working to fix this here at this location. They did a low-carb burger for me without even blinking an eye and it was pretty good. This is not my first time coming to Hickory Tavern and unfortunately it was quite a disappointment this go round. My mom came into town to pick up my daughter so we stopped for lunch. First, it took our waitress more than 5 minutes to come greet us and take drink orders. By the time she came, we were ready to order so I asked if we could go ahead. She said "sure make my job easier." Please don't ever say that to a customer. Ma'am, you didn't even greet us in a timely manner. Then it took forever to bring our food out and when she brought the food, she said they were still working on salad. I said you forgot our drinks. She proceeds to say "omg I'm sorry I forgot". So she brings our drinks, and I'm still waiting for my salad. I ordered wings for an appetizer so as I'm eating that, my daughter and mom eat and finish their food. She has yet to come check on us, still waiting for my salad. I finally got another waiter and told him to tell my waitress to remove the salad. Maybe 2 minutes go by and she brings the salad stating it was ready and sitting at the window, someone just forgot to bring it. I said yes you can remove that, I'm not going to eat it. Now I'm not one to be rude or give people a hard time because I've been a waitress, but the service was terrible to say the least. I'm only giving my review 2 stars instead of 1 or 0 because my daughter and my mom enjoyed their food. I should have gotten the manager to voice my frustration but I was trying to show the waitress grace. But this location off garners ferry will definitely be a last resort. This place has gone down it was dead at 730 on a Saturday. This should have been a warning sign. We were asked booth or table said booth taken to a table. The amount of flies around this table was and window omg. The floor/table was sticky and asked to move. Was slightly better, still flies, the pow pow shrimp was terrible. Tasted like warm mayo on fried shrimp, the quesadilla had a off putting season to it. Asked for lemon drop shot idk what we received but it wasn't that. No matter what, the ambience of a place is always part of the whole experience. This place has an open space with sectional sitting. You can pick top tables, bar, or booth/ lower sitting. I liked the vibe of lunch time here. It felt cozy and the noise was not too loud. It's clean and people are always working. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and checked on us frequently. We ordered from the hamburger menu. Omg! The burgers were delicious. Really! We've been here multiple times with my service dog and just sit in the covered pet area out of convenience. Today my daughter's blood sugar was low and she was suffering from heat related issues. So we asked to sit inside. The patio was gross (spilled food and water on the ground) and it was very hot. My dog was wearing her service dog vest with identification from the organization she was trained through visible. I also told him she was a service dog. The waiter initially refused us access. I gave him a public access card with the ADA law and he took it to his boss. When he returned he said they would put us at a table in the corner, by the window so the other customers won't see the dog. I would have left, but my daughter needed to eat. I'm never coming back. *Update: 8/20/24; I see that Hickory Tavern customer service cut and pasted their generic response to my review. I've contacted the (military veteran's) service dog organization I went through to train my dog. They are advocating for me, and will contact the business regarding my experience. I will never return, but I hope training will make it better for the next service dog team. read more

We are here visiting from Atlanta Ga. With our RV out at Weston Lake, we came out looking for a place to eat. Kate was our waitress and she is phenomenal. Love her attitude and attention to detail. The world needs more people like Kate easy going and very professional. My dates meal came out cold and Kate did not hesitate to fix it. Restaurant / Sports Bar was loaded with TVs. Every sport imaginable. Food is very tasty and it helps when you have a great date. All and all I gave 5 starts and it was mostly due to service. Even thought food was exceptional. I drive by this place all the time. Finally decided to come in for lunch. I ordered some food to go at the bar and had a drink while I waited. The bartender was attentive and polite. I let her know I almost didn't come in because Yelp said they were closed on Sunday... she assured me they are open ALL week. Open till 11 S-TH and 12 on Fri&Sat. Ordered wings and Tavern burger added bacon to go. Place looks clean and inviting a chill spot to enjoy a meal by yourself or with friends. Boy oh boy. Ordered the "loaded tater tots" which took so long to arrive that we actually had to ask the waitress if they were almost ready. Her response "I'll bring them when they're ready, I don't have eight arms." When she did bring them, they were missing most of the toppings listed on the menu. It wasn't anything spectacular about it. The menu said there was queso on it but I did not taste nor see any on the nachos. My daughter had the salad and she enjoyed it.
