New to the Troutman area, my partner kept going here and I held off trying bc of the reviews online. Well I was WRONG. I've been back twice today. We get the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich no tomatoes it's DELICIOUS. Prepared so fresh and the meal tastes delicious- lettuce FRESH. Fries are great too. We also got a milkshake this time strawberry - IMMACULATE. Not really a fast food lover but this is a GEM in Troutman. It make take a small wait but WORTH IT!! read more

My grandson and I decided to come here because it was new to us and he told me he felt like shrimp. We arrived right before the lunch rush. Food took a bit of time to come out, but it is literally cooked to order and is so worth the wait. Of course, grandson changed his mind and ordered chicken tenders with a double order of mac & cheese. (He's going to order shrimp next time.) He loved every bite. He even enjoyed the hush puppies, which he normally is not a fan of, saying they were the best he's had. Instead of a drink, he had a regular sized strawberry milkshake. Regular is large! He loved it. I'm amazed that he ate all that food and finished his shake! I had the 1/4 dark fried chicken. Oh my goodness, it was SO delicious. Cooked perfectly, skin crisp, juicy meat, not greasy, just some of the best fried chicken I've had. The batter was on the thin side - just the perfect amount to protect and give a good crunch. The coleslaw was crisp and tangy, thankfully not sweet. The fried squash was a delight - sliced thin, with a thin batter, both tender and crisp with each bite. The roll was fresh and light. I ordered a salt & pepper catfish plate to go for my husband. Three large fillets, flaky and cooked just right. He also had coleslaw and fried squash. He told me it was the best he's had in a long while. Service was great. Young cashier was sweet and very helpful. The lady cleaning up the dining room was lovely, and checked on all who was dining in. The interior was clean and very cute. I cannot wait to go back. Great selection, good service, kind of okay restaurant area. The food is good for a quick bite but I would not go out of my way unless you are eating in. The fried foods become crazy soggy if it has to travel (I'm about 15 minutes away) and everything is a little bland but nothing you can't solve with some Pete's. The restaurant area was clean but kind of rundown...but not really in a bad way I guess. Felt like an old school race track concession bar. I recommend trying it. May or may not be to your taste but worth a shot. Not a lot of affordable and good fried chicken options in the local area. read more

The food could have been fried more but the worst part is that we received 7 "cups" of ranch dressing. WHY? We ordered NO salad but asked for 2 extra cups of tartar sauce for our fish. We ordered from here on Saturday night for our family. We had hotdogs, cheeseburgers, and fish sandwiches. Everyone has been having stomach aches, diarrhea, and vomiting after eating this food! The food is actually 4 or more stars but the problem is ongoing throughout the years. The real problem is the consistency of correct orders, left out items and relatively complacency of the staff about this issue. The communication is very poor. Today I called in an order and at the pickup window I stated that there were 2 missing slaws from the last time I ordered. I requested they just add two more slaws to my order. She said she'd talk to the mgr. So when I picked up my order I asked about the added slaw which got me a blank look from the young man. I had to rifle through all the packed food hunting for slaw and low and behold, not only were there no added slaws, but it was one slaw short and the only slaw in the bag was about a tablespoon of slaw. It's become common knowledge in our family that a correct order is hit or miss. They do have a sign that says to check your order. This is highly inconvenient, time consuming and irritating to other drivers waiting behind you for you to disrupt a nicely packed bag to check behind people that should do it right the first time. I looked on the website to see if there was a contact email place but no. So hopefully someone in mgmt will read this and make some adjustments. read more

Simple. We panicked at the choices and both ordered London-style Fish and Chips. Wished later one of us ordered a chicken dinner or burger to sample from each other. While the fish was piping hot, as were the fries and hush puppies, the fish did not meet the criteria of London-style. More Captain D's, or Arthur Treacher's for you old schoolers. The batter was too thick and wicked up the fry oil like a sponge. Our service was wonderful and although stretched due to short staffing, they continued to turn up the smiles and keep things rolling. We are new to this small NC town and slowly trying the local eateries. Stopped by Dixie's today and was pleasantly surprised how tasty the food was in this fast food restaurant. The food came fast and was nice and hot. The sweet tea was perfectly- great color, tea flavor and not overly sweet. They also have nugget ice for those who love to crunch ice like me! I had a grilled chicken breast sandwich that was plump and juicy. Many side options and I selected the fried squash which was thick sliced and lightly battered. On her own, the waitress brought a side of ranch dressing for squash dipping which was a delicious treat. She checked on me several times and was very attentive. Turns out it was her birthday and she couldn't have been nicer. Gotta love living in the south! I've heard from many in the area the seafood (all fried) is delicious. Please, please, please rename your "London style fish and chips". As an Englishman, this could not be any further from English fish and chips. I have never had cod covered in what could be best described as corn dog batter. What little fish that was inside of the batter you could not really taste. Chips aka crinkle fries :( Service was fast. Restaurant was pretty empty when we stopped by around dinner time. I could be tempted to stop by again to try the chicken or a po-boy, but will definitely steer well clear of the cod bites. read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch to-go today. The drive-thru line was fairly long so I decided to go in. There were only a few people ahead of me and the cashier was moving pretty fast. She was extremely nice and seemed knowledgeable as she had to been doing this for years. After I finished placing my order a customer walked up to the register asking about her order because she had been waiting over 20 minutes. Ooops, they had skipped over her and she had small children waiting. The cashier immediately requested they expedited the lady order and she refunded her money. I hoped they didn't skip over mine because I only had 20 minutes to return to work. Luckily 3 minutes later my order was ready. Clean comfortable dining room, wooden chairs at tables on the left, booths against the windows on the right, plus tables out of doors if you're so inclined. 4 honey-drizzled chicken tenders on a waffle are a little underwhelming; moist and tender on the inside, crispy and honey on the outside but I'm thinking I need a little something besides, maybe greens? or corns? or pintos? I suppose it's good enough but kinda spendy on the value meter*. First time I went inside and order two fish sandwiches. Did not comprehend the size of these sandwiches when I ordered because they are huge. Could only eat one, gave the other to my receptionist who enjoyed it. As far myself, the sandwich was very good but came with slaw and tartar sauce and I'm not a fan or slaw on my sandwiches. Otherwise the sandwiches and fries were great. 1/2 and 1/2 tea I made myself so it was good although correct ration is 3/4 to 1/4 unsweetened to sweetened. Next time, I went through the drive through and order the Chicken Tenders Sandwich to take back to the office. Ordering process went well will I paid and waited 2 or 3 minutes and was then asked to pull forward to the white line and they would bring it out to me. That bring it out to me was 10 1/2 minutes later. Took it back to my desk and it was very good and very filling. Learning from the experience with the fish , I only order one sandwich and fries and it was more than filling. The 1/2 and 1/2 tea they made was still too sweet. It's new although they have a sister restaurant across the river in Newton but let's see what happens. I will be back to try other items. My wife and I finally tried this place after too long! Walked in to be greeted by a friendly cashier(makes me feel good not feeling like an inconvenience)! I got the salt and peppered catfish with hush puppies, catfish was really good, those hush puppies though, maybe the best I've had!!! Decided to take some family with us later in the week, I got the double Carolina burger, was a huge sandwich with huge flavor, the fries were also quite good(crinkle), also got some more hush puppies!!! Ordered at counter at noon on a Saturday. Got the chicken tender and choice of seafood plate selecting the calabash shrimp. Subbed potato salad for fries and it comes with cold slaw and hush puppies. Selected the house dipping sauce which is like a spicy ranch, I think, and it went really well with the chicken. Took maybe 10 minutes to get the order to go. It traveled OK, the shrimp lost some crispness due to steaming in the to go box. Did like the shrimp. The chicken tenders were excellent but only got 3 small ones in the large option. Hush puppies tasted a bit old. Cole slaw and potato salad were nice. Cole slaw is sweet and potato salad has strong mustard flavor, tangy. Reasonable price for the amount of food. Enough for two adults to share as a light lunch. Would order again. read more

Out for a drive and we stumbled on this place in Troutman for dinner. My calabash dinner with fried squash (!!) was really good! The hush puppies were tasty (maybe a little over cooked) but the slaw was wonderful! My husband had the flounder and shrimp plate and enjoyed it, too. GrubHub screwed up and never sent someone to pick it up. The manager called me and told me that nobody has picked up my order. So I call GrubHub and tell them they have screwed up and they tell me my order is on the way. It wasn't picked up at that time. A hour later they send someone to it. The manager called GrubHub and told them it was their fault my food would dry and not hot. So she made them give her the ok to make my food fresh.
