First time here, while the food was very good, good portions and fairly priced I can't rate higher than 3 stars due to lack of cleanliness and so-so service. Our table was not as clean as you would expect in a restaurant and two chairs had chips or big crumbs left from previous customers. Didn't get why we had to wait 20 to 30 minutes to be seated being it was busy but not that busy. So 30 minutes later we finally got to sit. Waitress came over within 15 minutes asked if we knew what we wanted to drink & we of course said yes & we know what we want to eat as well. So we placed our order as well which was an nacho appetizer along with 2 burgers. Waitress dropped off the little plates for when the appetizer came out but no silverware or drinks. Had to ask for our drinks which mind you was just a sweet tea & water. Finally appetizer which was a small nacho came in a soup bowl which was hard to eat because you couldn't get to the nacho's that didn't have any toppings on it so you could dip into the toppings. Waitress drops off silverware & now I just chop up the app so it was easier to eat. Weather you get the small or large it should for sure be put on a platter not a soup bowl. Finally a hour & half later our burgers came & they weren't even lukewarm as well as not cooked correctly to where mine was medium & not medium rare & my husband being it came on bread & not a bun was toasted to where you couldn't even bite into it as well as his was medium rare & not medium. I finally got the mangers attention & my husband isn't one to send things back like myself I dealt with what I got because he didn't want me to embarrass him & the manager asked him if he wanted remade or just the bread done over & he said just the bread. Well after getting the burger back there was no mushrooms nor cheese because obviously it was stuck on the other bread that was hard as a rock. For my side I got the Brussel sprouts that were supposed to have balsamic vinegar on it which only had a drop but were over cooked to where they were burnt. Again my whole plate should of been sent back but I dealt with it even though I shouldn't have but I didn't want to wait another hour for a correct burger. The only thing that was correct was the flavors of the nachos as well as my burger. Once upon a time I was worked in the industry myself & I could do circles around the waitstaff & mangers. First of all if your waitresses have to clear their own tables then they should wash their hands each & every time before touching other things because we never know now a days. I watched our waitress clear off a table drop the plates off to the dishwasher then go directly to the bar garnished 2 drinks with a lime & then opened two straws & touched them where the customers put their lips. Then what really bothered me was a boy waiter was wearing the wrong size belt that dangled down his front side with his pants not on his waist but his hips instead because obviously that's how he wears them when not at work. I was tempted to ask him if he was in jail before or if he was available to guys because he looked unprofessional in my opinion & if I was a manager not only would I tell him he couldn't wear his pants like that but he would have to tie his hair back right along with some of the other girls as well. Sorry for being to lengthy but I couldn't figure how to make it short & sweet. I know the excuse will be summer which in my opinion was busy & I could do so much better. I definitely would like to give them another try because like I said the flavors of the food was good but not cooked to the way we wanted them & if they retrain there staff mangers & waitstaff this place would be awesome. read more

When a person says no pink it would be nice if it was just that...NO PINK!!! I really thought it was just pink in the beginning but the more I ate, the more pink I saw. We have only been here one other time and enjoyed our meal, but running out of food to serve your customers especially on a holiday weekend has to start with management. Serving your customer a sandwich without telling them that one of its main components is missing is another thing. The chef should have informed not only management of the issue but should have never served the customer this without informing the customer or the server. Have not been here in quite awhile; so hubby and I decided to try their nachos for National Nacho Day. Decided to try the BBQ Chicken Large size Nachos. Had to wait; so enjoyed a beer in the meantime. What a disappointment to say the least.Nachos arrive and it consisted of an over whelming amount of taco chips, the queso cheese was at the bottom of the bowl under the chips, BBQ sauce was drizzled on top, we had to 'hunt' to find the so-called BBQ chicken and when we did, the pieces were so miniscule it was pathetic. Great location. North Myrtle Beach area. Relatively new. I stopped here for lunch with my brother-in-law after a couple hours of shopping. Very nice atmosphere. Bar area, high top tables, and booths with TVs all around. Plenty of friendly servers all around. The gentleman behind the bar was exceptional. Food was fine . But the service was awful. And by service I mean a culture of giving excuses and exceptions . Item listed under entrees which said it comes with sides but no, this one doesn't . Ask for a beer but nope, haven't had it in years. Maybe you should update the menu or honor how things are stated . Can't change a tv even tho there we'd maybe 3 other parties in the room. Then the BIG one when a cockroach scurried by our table and informed a server who explained "yeh they are all over the place down here .". I explained we are local and I understand but perhaps proper pest control would help she still dug in and said the patio door was open . Well maybe close it then ! When cockroaches scurry across your dining floor it leads one to question what's going on behind scenes we can't see . So save those excuses as well !! Manager came to kill the cockroach. It was apparent he could care less about how any of the evening was going. I found his comment odd (he was grateful I didn't want to take the ranch home because I said I have some at home --he told me a lot of people would take it just because --well yeh. They paid for it . Much better this time around, even with them being short staffed. Our server, Rosa, was very pleasant and was working pretty hard (as were the front of house staff, who were being told not to seat anyone by the manager because the kitchen was so backed up. It's got to be very difficult to be so short staffed in a place that gets packed with tourists). I had the Asian Power Bowl with Ahi Tuna. It was pretty good. My only complaint would be that the tuna itself was lacking some seasoning but, seeing as they are so short staffed, I can't really blame the kitchen staff for that. We were seated as quickly as they were able to seat us and the food came out reasonably quick. With pandemic shortages I think this is the best you can get and I don't fault the servers, front of house or back of house staff for doing their best. read more

First time in and I'm local! Beautiful decor but the service "Sucks"! From walking in the two young ladies didn't seem to know how to sit anyone, I just said I will sit at the bar. Once there everyone was parked at the end of the bar. The young lady at the bar had the attitude of my sock! Had the southern fried chicken BLT with fried Chicken breast lettuce tomato applewood bacon on a Hoagie Roll. My wife had the salad (BYO) with fried chicken. All were very tasty and presented well. This tavern has a slew of TVs in all directions perfect for NFL footballl, and college games because of the number of channels that they display. Very open atmosphere and accompanying music. They have outdoor seating that looks very inviting especially on those warm cold afternoons or evenings. Part of the outdoor seating has a cover so you could actually have a meal while it's raining outside,plus you guessed it ...TV's in that area too, so games are everywhere... At the table that I was seated, I was able to see 20 TVs.. They are close to each other which might make it somewhat difficult to keep an eye on one, but with lots of games playing might be candy for your eyes. Service was great, and our meals very satisfying..the salad was in large metal bowl ( large amount ) The sandwich was a mouthful...with handmade chips.. Our server was from Johnsonvile, and was surperb. I mention this as she gave us wonderful service. BEYOND DISAPPOINTING Lunch at The Hickory Tavern was a total flop. We started with a bottle of Chardonnay (I assume it was the house wine since we did not specify a preference). All agreed that it was vinegary and undrinkable. The server did graciously offer to replace it with a bottle of our choosing. The replacement was quite nice. We then ordered Fish and Chips and a bowl of Chili. The chips were fine, but the fish was far too thin for Fish and Chips. It was also very salty and covered with a feeble crust - instead of that crunchy crispy batter you expect on a proper Fish and Chips. The Chili was a joke - thin, watery and tasteless. I have been to a bunch of Hickory tavern's in the Charlotte area, and haven't always loved it. I was with a group who wanted to go here, so I will be honest that I was kind of forced to do it. This location was a pleasant surprise. To start off, it is a brand-new restaurant. It is very large, with a very good size bar. It also has a very big outdoor patio area. They were able to accommodate our large group pretty easily. Service was really good, and I tried their wings today. If you are a chicken wing lover, the wings are a little bit on the smaller side. They had different food and drink specials for happy hour. If I was with a group that wanted to go there again, I would go, but I always try to go to non-chains when traveling. read more

We tried this restaurant on a early Friday night for dinner and drinks with friends. Or server was very nice and we had great service BUT the food was awful the Ruben sandwich was sliced corn beef instead of shaved corn beef and the quesadilla's were the worst I have ever had --VERY little meat or cheese in the filling. We asked the manager about the filling in the quesadillas, he said the don't put much filling because it might seep out the sides. Crazy- you can get much better at Taco Bell. The bathrooms were gross too. WE will never go back to Hickory Tavern! read more

If I could give this 10 stars I would! We ordered for Door Dash delivery and so not expect a whole lot but food was stupendous! Ordered a Cobb Salad with chicken and the Asian sesame dressing and it was scarfed down to nothing. The Cuban sandwich that I have had all over the East Coast was by far the most flavorful sandwich I have EVER had. The sweet potato fries which have no expectations when delivered, were flavorful with accompanying sauce on the side were delightful! Had a great lunch here 6/27. Our server was nice and attentive. My wife and I and our 4 kids ages 4-18 rolled in. Pretzel bite appetizer was awesome. Everyone did their own thing food wise, burgers, salads, fish&chips. It was all a hit. They even brought our 4 year olds food out with my wife's salad. He smashed it!
