Meeting up with my awesome Yelper, Justin L. (Boba Boy), I suggested this place for a Monday brunch. It's located in a plaza full of Asian businesses with Chinese signages. I have seen a few of my other Yelp friends hit up this spot and it did not disappoint. First off, service is a 10/10. The guy was attentive, patient and asked if we have any food allergies. Justin is more of a sweets kind of guy and I prefer savory. I studied the menu before coming & ordered the Dry Noodle and a hot Matcha Latte. Justin went for the adorable Boba Bear Set and Coco Waffle. Presentation-wise, it was all very eye pleasing. Our phone cameras went click, click, snap, snap. My Matcha latte came piping hot and we both said...wowww, what a big mug, you get your money's worth. The Dry Noodle is on the smaller portion but it was perfect for me. I let Justin have a few bites because I wanted to hear what he thought. It was absolutely slurping delishhhh. Love the minced pork, peanuts and dried onions. The noodles were coated with cholesterol free veggie oil. The side of chili oil kicked it up a notch. Justin loved his waffles and milk tea. It's a cute place, there's art on the walls and little sayings everywhere but it is on the smaller side so during busy hours, I can imagine it's a bit of a wait. Our server was nice and quick and the food was extremely delicious. We enjoyed everything we got. The spicy cheese noodle soup was yumm, the broth was flavorful and I liked the noodles they used, I just wish it had been a tad bit on the spicer side. The #Hash-tag waffle fries are a must, I don't typically like sunny side up eggs but having that egg with the crispy fries and topped with the yummy pork paired so well together. I would go back just for those fries. The popcorn chicken was also good, crispy and very flavorful and it came with a salad that had a sesame dressing that I could have drank, it was seriously good. The Hide Out Cafe was great. It is located in a newer plaza in Rowland Heights near the golf range. The interior is well-decorated with vintage cameras and other cool things. We ordered a Boba Bear Set, Basil Saute Chicken, and the BBQ Pork Belly. Both entrees came with rice and salad. The chicken and pork belly were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I wasn't exactly that impressed with the place. The food was just okay and my drink was also just okay. In fact, my steak was actually served cold which wasn't the most appetizing. The server was kind which was one plus. It's a cute little cafe in an abandoned and empty mall. I went a bit before closing so I didn't get a chance to try their food but I did order some drinks to go. I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time and finally went in! I was surprised as it's a hidden gem, took some time to find in the pearl plaza, but of coarse it's in the name! Finally visited with my friends to catch up on life. We ordered the boba bear drink, waffles, cheese noodle item for my friends daughter and an affogato for me. The waffle was nice and fluffy we enjoyed it very much! My friends like the boba bear drink and her daughter liked the noodles a lot too. My affogato had a lot of ice cream which is good if you like it that way, however I guess I didn't since mine turned into ice cream soup after I drank all the coffee, but I absolutely enjoyed it. The tiramisu late was pleasant and leaned more on the sweeter side. It was very reminiscent of a caramel macchiato and didn't resemble much of tiramisu. Compared to the caramel latte they serve, it seemed like a less sweet version of it. The basil sautéed chicken was a tad salty and is nothing like a basil dish you would get from a Thai restaurant. The chicken was tender and juicy with a unique mild chili flavor from their house-made sauce. The basil flavor wasn't as prominent due to the stronger flavors of the sauce. Came for lunch right when they open and the staff were so friendly. They let us sit wherever we wanted and immediately gave us water and told us the menu is through the QR code. The savory-based Wafflewich was delicious; the only complaint I have was that they give 6 tater tots lol.
