I would give the food an overall 3.5/5. Chinese Broccoli oyster sauce: nicely cooked, not salty or oily at all. I think it is a great vegetable dish. Crab omelette fried rice: the best dish of the night! The crab and omelette are nicely cooked, not overly salty. The rice to egg+crab ratio is great. It is not spicy, the seasoning is just right. I highly recommend this. Mango sweet sticky rice: not bad, just alright. We think the sticky rice is too soft and soggy, not chewy enough. The coconut milk is served on the side so you can pour it based on your preference. The mango is perfectly ripened, very sweet. Tom Yum Noodle Soup with seafood: our least favorite dish. The noodle is very soggy, there's really no texture to it. I know there's the word "noodles" in their name, but we definitely do not remember this noodle option at all. The tom yum soup was not great either, the spiciness is way too strong, so you can't taste much of the sourness. The seafood variety was ok, there are shrimps, fish fillets, mussels, squid, and fish balls. The texture of the squids and fish fillets tasted a bit weird. Their service was nice though we got sorted at a corner, so we had a hard time getting the staff's attention. The restaurant has a very unique decorations. There are a lot of figurines, pictures and statues. Overall, their dishes are either really good or the complete opposite, not sure if I would want to go back again. read more

Came here with to meet my Aunt and cousins. WOW-portions are gigantic. I don't think I've ever been to a Thai restaurant that had dishes so large. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Everything was so delicious including the pad Thai, fried rice (yes I know that's 2 starches but wow it was good), stir fry vegetables (this was a huge mountain of vegetables), green curry chicken, pork belly, fried shrimp appetizer. Service was very attentive. the waitress came over multiple times to check on us. Ambience was really nice and beautifully decorated. We sat at a large table where the 6 of us sat comfortably. This place is our go-to for Thai food. Dean (owner) and his staff are very welcoming. We would always bring our family and friends whenever we crave Thai food. The food was really good and generous portions. Sadly they premake their curry bases so they cannot make any curries vegetarian. However their stir fry and noofle bases are all vegetarian with no fish sauce or oyster sauce. We got pad thai, drunken noodles, tom yum fried rice, egg rolls (5pcs) and chinese broccoli which came with a fried egg on top. The portions were generous and even though 5 of us shared the food we had so much leftover to take home. The service was not very attentive. Nobody came to check in on us during the meal even though there were only 2 other people in the restaurant so they were not busy. The ambience is very confusing in here. There are some things that look like they are out of an antique store like a glass cabinet with a bunch of old horse figurines.. and then a bunch of plants in the front only, and then Christmas wreath and garland (in July) and the music was very old style. This place was so cute, yummy, and the servers were very sweet! My friend and I went here for dinner on a Friday night at around 7PM and we got seated right away. I love how intimate the space is and choice of decor. It feels very homey and comforting. We ordered a pad thai and crab fried rice to share. Both dishes were delicious! The eggs in the fried rice were cooked nicely, not over cooked. I really appreciated that they used real crab and put so much in. The pad thai was yummy, tangy, and had a good bouncy texture. I went to Dean by Dean Noodles after spotting them locally on Yelp & man... am I glad I did. Ambiance is casual, with a mix of table & chair setups as well as booth seating. Comfortable & easy. I did notice they still had Christmas decor up when I went, even though it was already February. Not sure if it's part of their everyday aesthetic or just lingering holiday spirit, but either way it was super cute, especially at night. Service was warm from the start. Both the host & server checked in just enough & repeated my order back for accuracy, which is always appreciated. I came in craving Thai flavors but wasn't exactly sure what I wanted yet. If you're into Thai fusion or noodle spots with a diverse menu, this place gives you a lot to work with. After looking through a well-assorted menu, I landed on the Chili & Basil Chicken Egg Rolls to start & the Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta for my entrée. I noticed signage mentioning Channel 7 calling their chili & basil chicken egg rolls the best, so of course I had to try them. It wasn't just the recommendation, but the intrigue of basil chicken inside an egg roll that sold me. They came out crispy, packed with deep basil flavor, & had a great filling-to-wrapper ratio. Now for the star of the show. The Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta wasn't what I expected to order, but it ended up being exactly what I needed. The flavor was rich, creamy, lightly sweet, & paired perfectly with well-sized shrimp. I've been on a skinny noodle kick lately, so I went with the glass noodles. They do offer other noodle options too, which is great if glass noodles aren't your thing. Portion size is generous, easily shareable between two. That said, I was more than happy to keep it to myself & enjoy the leftovers. Definitely a solid spot if you're in the Long Beach or OC area looking for flavorful Thai-inspired noodles. On a Sunday evening around 7pm it wasn't busy at all! Our server was very kind and attentive. I got the salted fish fried rice. It was a huge portion and a very flavorful and good dish! It could have done with a few more veggies but they were all good! It just lacked on the actual fish part. There wasn't much at all. The parts that were there were incredibly small. But it did add heavily salted bites to the parts it was in. I also got to try some of the pad see ew with tofu and drunken noodles. I probably won't do the lunch special again just because I don't particularly like this salad I didn't really hear her on the phone I just heard that it was a lunch special so I agreed. But I'm wondering if it would've been cheaper without being a lunch combo I thought it was cheaper with bingo lunch combo now I'm thinking it might've not been. Regardless though the food still taste good, I'm happy with it I do wish that chips wouldn't have been in the plate because they came out soggy by the time I got home, but again everything still taste good. I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, the flavors here are really good. On the other, I've hadn't had the best of luck with how my body reacts to their food. Note: We've always ordered to-go. I've visited three times over the span of a month. The first time, I ordered the supreme drunken noodles, veggie/golden tofu, and spicy Dean noodles soup. The taste was on point, but I didn't feel great afterward. I eat a lot of spicy food, so I don't think it was the heat level. I gave it a second shot about 2-3 weeks later. I ordered the shrimp wonton soup and tried some of my wife's shrimp lemongrass salad. She was totally fine, but I felt like crap about an hour after eating. On our third trip, I played it safe and didn't order anything. My fam got the chicken noodle soup, chicken egg rolls, and pad thai supreme. I tried a little bit of the chicken noodle soup and had no issues - yes, i love to tempt fate. Everyone else I've eaten here with has been completely fine, so it might just be me or bad luck. We ordered Thai Fried Rice, Drunken Noodle with Crispy Pork, Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork, and Pork Katsu Curry. The food was served promptly along with hot sauces on the side. We were surprised to see that the portions were actually pretty big. Definitely worth it! The Thai Fried Rice is okay, pretty standard. The Drunken Noodle was good although it's my first time eating it with slices of iceberg lettuce mixed together. The Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork was flavorful and I enjoyed the crispy pork pieces since they weren't too chewy nor crispy that they're hard to eat. And they gave quite a lot of crispy pork pieces! My kid liked the Pork Katsu Curry that came with a huge amount of rice, salad and curry. The yellow curry was a bit too watery in my opinion but my curry-loving kid liked it. Inside the restaurant, there were a variety of decor, frames, plants, etc. The staffs were friendly and attentive. They came to refill our drinks without us asking for it. Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a party of 7. We were seated right away as there was only one other party dining in a the time. The restaurant did get a bit more crowded as two separate larger parties arrived shortly thereafter. Coconut Noodle Soup ($15.95): Always enjoy a hot bowl of the chicken tom kha soup. Bowl came out piping hot with a generous amount of noodles, mushroom, and chicken. The noodles were a tad overcooked and broke apart easily. I would have preferred a squeeze of lime in the broth to bring the flavors all together as well, but overall, not a bad dish to try. Great portion sizes for all entrees that we ordered. I didn't think the flavors of the food was particularly special than other Thai eateries, but the service was phenomenal! Not sure if it was for the holidays or because our toddler started getting antsy as we sat down, but the waiter brought her over a new doll to keep her occupied (it was the Dollar Tree). Tried food from dean by dean noodles a total of three times. Once via Door Dash when I had a sudden urge for Tofu (8/10), second time was a dine in experience with my daughter and had the Pad See Yu and Garlic Noodles (9/10) , and the most recent time was earlier tonight and ordered picked up to-go (9/10). Service was excellent both times when I ate there as well as when I picked up food in person. It was super packed tonight and even though I was told the wait for my order would be "about 30 minutes", my food came sooner than that but the gentleman that took my order (possibly the owner) still was very apologetic about "the long wait" and gave me a free drink, which I appreciate very much. My husband and I decided to give this place a try. We live very close and have never tried it so decided why not. Let me tell you, worst mistake my husband and I ever made. For starters the person at front was extremely rude. We decided to let it go. Once seated we noticed a small roach near our table. Totally had our appetite completely diminished. Once we received our food, it looked absolutely dry and the taste was so bland. We decided to just ask for a box so that we were able to put it in, we paid for the food and as soon as we walked out we threw it out in the nearby trashcan. I'm honestly shocked at the experience I just had at Dean Noodles!! I drove an hour from Fontana in 5:30 p.m. traffic to get my nails done by the best -- Melz Beauty -- and I was starving. I decided to treat myself and my nail/hair tech, ordered food to-go, paid in full, and even tipped them 18% on top of it. When I walked in, I asked if they had a restroom. The girl at the counter ( Lisa) looked at me like she wanted to say no until I mentioned I had just purchased food. Only then did she finally point me toward the restroom. After paying, tipping, and already having my food, I had about 20 minutes to spare before my appointment, so I sat down to eat in an empty restaurant, literally one family there and eight empty tables. The same girl comes up to me and tells me I can't eat inside because my order was "to-go." Make it make sense. I PAID for my food. I TIPPED. The place was EMPTY. And somehow it was a problem for me to sit and eat for 20 minutes? It was rude, unwelcoming, and honestly embarrassing for them. I've never experienced anything like this. Shame on this establishment for treating paying customers this way. I will never eat here again. Shame on you Lisa!!! RESPONDING TO Dean: Dean, thank you for taking the time to respond, but unfortunately your explanation makes the situation even more confusing. 1. I was a paying customer. Your employee only let me use the restroom after I mentioned I had just purchased food. So the comment about "random people using the restroom" doesn't apply to my situation at all. 2. I never asked for "proper dining ware" or full service. I simply sat down to eat food I paid for in an empty restaurant for about 20 minutes before my nail appointment. There is nothing unreasonable about that. 3. At no point did anyone explain that to-go customers are not allowed to sit, or that I needed to request anything different. If this is truly your policy, it was not communicated , not even once. Instead, your staff approached me and told me I couldn't sit inside at all. That was the issue. 4. Your response keeps saying "rules are rules," but the bigger problem is your staff never communicated any rule. They just made me feel unwelcome for sitting in an empty restaurant after paying and tipping. 5. The experience would have been disappointing even if the service had been great, but honestly, the food itself was extremely bland. So between the poor customer service and the quality of the meal, it was overall not a good experience. 6. Offering a refund only for the tip instead of acknowledging the actual customer service issue is honestly surprising. This wasn't about $$$ it was about how I was treated start to finish. I used to eat here more often during the pandemic...but now not as much...it's real good Thai cuisine. The decor is quite interesting and not what I'd expect from the interior of a Thai restaurant. It's very homey. I love the pad see ew the most. I think it should always have Chinese broccoli...it can have regular broccoli but must have Chinese broccoli. The pad Thai is good too. I don't remember the fried rice but I'm more prone to ordering noodles at Thai restaurants. The owner and servers are very friendly and sweet people. I stopped in here absolutely starving post-workout and was reminded (again) why this place is such a gem. The food is consistently excellent--quality, flavor, portions--always on point. The vibe deserves its own paragraph. They still have some Christmas decor up, but somehow it works. The whole place feels whimsical and a little time-travel-y, with tchotchkes and eclectic details everywhere. Even with so much going on visually, it always feels clean, intentional, and artfully curated. Nothing feels cluttered or chaotic. Even the music is interesting--you can tell thought goes into the atmosphere, not just the food. The staff has always been personable and kind to me, and Dean himself is just such a cool guy. I once had the chance to chat with him when it was quiet, and it was obvious how much he genuinely cares about creating a welcoming environment for everyone who walks in. That kind of care shows up in every part of the experience. Food-wise, I'm usually a yellow curry girl, but this time I was warned the dish I ordered was huge--and honestly, I didn't care. I was that hungry. I went with the Thai barbecue chicken with curry fried rice, and it absolutely hit the spot. Deep, comforting flavors, perfectly cooked chicken, and a portion that delivered. Service was not great- I had ordered a tofu pad Thai and green curry for my friends that were vegetarian. I read their order to the server from a text message but the server who entered in the order put chicken instead of tofu for the pad Thai. When the order came in, it was chicken and we informed the server it was wrong. She checked the ticket and said it was chicken (she had entered in the order wrong on the iPad). The Chef then informed the server that they wouldn't do anything about it. For that reason I would rate this place 3 stars instead of 5. Very disappointed about the customer service. read more
