The food was good and horchata was made fresh too! Th servers were nice! I had a good experience there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't too loud and they were playing good throwback music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked for extra crispy potatoes and they were crispy and delicious! Give this place a try!

It's more of a 4.5 and I'm glad I heard about this place. The zapata latte cacahuate is what I came for and it was delicious! Also tried the Mexican mocha, which is rich and delish, too - but the zapata took the lead for drinks. Also tried the Azteca bowl (with cactus). As the server said, the cactus is more of a vehicle for the other flavors, but I enjoyed the freshness and taste of the potatoes and other items with it. It's better with salsa, though - green is my preference. The jalapeno in the burrito we ordered had a nice kick to it, and again with green salsa, was tasty. My daughter said the French toast and eggs was good, too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really nice, spacious place with natural lighting - good for a breakfast/lunch vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was super friendly and on spot. I'll be taking friends and family here in the near future.

S&J serves Mexican type breakfast and brunch items. It's a nice change from a typical American type breakfast. Besides their food, their drinks are well made too. Had the Zapata Latte and it was delish. Our table ordered a variety of food dishes and each one was well made and delicious. They have a vast selection of items, so I'm sure there's something for everyone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a good amount of tables inside and a few outside. Nice environment to chill and enjoy a meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers here and very friendly and service oriented. Come check it out!

Such a good find in the local area. Had the chorizo plate and iced Mexican mocha. The homemade tortillas that came with the dish were amazing I would eat them just by themselves.

Never knew about S&J Gran Cafe but they open at 5am (no one opens at 5am AND offers a killer breakfast burrito). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is very clean and definitely will be back for a dine in meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good job S&J

Came here after a round of golf. My buddies like this place but I have to agree with other reviewers that the prices are high and the portions are small. I had the Machaca con huevos and it was okay. You get a small plate and a cup of refried beans in a cup and 2 corn tortillas-all for $20. Service was good but the price-value is not there. Plus they charged $5 bucks for 2 additional tortillas-serious overcharge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is okay but I don't see myself coming back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I have seen plenty of people from the Diamond Bar group posting about this Cafe named S & J so I had already bookmarked it to try out for later on. Finally during a free morning decided to give this place a try. The server was super friendly and nice. We asked her what are some of people's favorite items and she suggests to get the chilaquiles I got it with chicken and added avocado. Food came out quickly within 10 minutes or so with freshly scrambled eggs, deep fried goodness on this plate. She noticed I started adding Tapatio and gave me some spicy sauce that was perfect for the meal. I also got to try their Zapata Latte Cacahuate which has some crushed peanuts on the bottom. Overall I enjoyed my meal and the friendly service.

Let's start with the DELICIOUS Freshly squeezed orange juice! And the service on point!

I rarely ever dole out 1 star reviews and I want to do everything that I can to prevent myself in order from doing so, but after ordering take out here and receiving one of the absolute worst bouts of food poisoning in my life (hey, I at least lost 10 lbs), I just had to do it. My brother and I wanted to order some late breakfast/brunch for take out. We got the iced Mexican mocha (honestly tasted a bit too bitter and had a really grainy sandy texture even after mixing it), their standard waffle breakfast meal that comes with 2 eggs (my brother got over medium) and bacon, and their eggs benedict with potatoes. The benedict looked really sus already when we opened the take out container, but since I was hungry and we were already home without any other food, I just dove into eating it. The spinach was wilted, the eggs were room temperature (this was RIGHT after we took the food home and we don't live to far away), and the Hollandaise sauce had a slightly overly ripe sour cream taste to it. The biscuit was already soggy and it was just a chore to eat this so I barely was ble to completely finish eating 1 piece and had to toss away the other. Now if that was the case with this meal, I would have just relented and given this place 2 stars and maybe I just ordered something wrong off of the menu or if it was an off day, but later on that day I started feeling feverish and ill. There was nothing else that I had eaten since the day before and my brother didn't get sick either (he didn't touch the eggs benny). Once it was evening/night, I had the WORST food poisoning of my life, easily one of the top 3 vomiting sessions ever. I just threw up until there was nothing in my system, I was gagging out bile and saliva, throwing up water, Gatorade, Peptol Bismol and literally everything else that was in my system. It winded me pretty badly that I had to take the next day off of work and then the day afterwards too since I was only becoming okay with drinking liquids (yes it was that bad). I don't think I'll even eat eggs benny again after this experience it was that traumataizing and I still can't explain what could have gone wrong that made me so ill, but never again I can say that for sure.

Dry pancakes that desperately needed butter

I've been here before with my boyfriend. He said the food was okay. The service was lousy! We were waiting a long time for our water and food. I went with my family for Easter 2024 and the service was worse! My brother in law asked for salsa and my dad had to go up and get it. My mom's veggie omelet had no substance, the egg was thin and flat. My sister's pozole had too much corn. The restaurant smelled like sewer, made everything worse!! I ordered pancakes and they were hard and dry. I had to ask for butter. I needed to use 5 packets just to make the pancakes edible! I needed to rip and tear the pancakes apart, super dry, rubbery and flat. A breakfast place that can't do pancakes is disappointing and unbelievable. Definitely never going back! People were waiting to be sat while we were there. Groups were sat outside the restaurant. They were having trouble flagging down the server. Overall, the food was subpar but the service was awful and terrible!

I drove a Sienna minivan and my car went over the parking line, luckily the lot was fairly empty so I didn't feel so bad about taking up the extra space. They offer typical Cantonese style breakfasts. It's a self serve operation here. You order via app, kiosk or through a person and you find a seat and wait for your number to be called. Then you just pick up your tray when your food is ready, and bring it back to your table. When you're done eating, bring your tray to the to the counter for them to clean up. I loved the various food statues located throughout the restaurant, they are so cute and make for great photo ops! My girlfriends and I got essentially the same breakfast combos with the exception of different porridge ingredients. I opted for breakfast combo #3, which included porridge, rice roll, and a drink (I got hot ying yang tea). Iced drinks are $1 extra. The food here is tasty and best of all is reasonably priced! I love that they have porridge toppings that you can put on. The roasted peanuts were so so good! If I could say anything negative about this place it would be their regular menu needs reformatting. Honestly their regular menu was really confusing to understand. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friend also expressed her frustration with trying to understand the menu. Luckily the employee came by and showed us the breakfast special menu, which was exactly what we were wanting to order and so much easier to understand. I definitely want to bring my family here to try more of the menu as I know they will enjoy it as much as I did!

I wanted to try Chan Kee in Monrovia but they closed down before I got the chance to. My friend who's had CK before said they've changed their menu and it was now pretty overwhelming. We ordered a congee with a side of saucy rice noodle rolls and a wonton beef stew noodle soup to share. You basically order the base (congee or noodle) then add the options for an extra charge. Each entree/side/drink combo came about to nearly $20. The rice noodles and wonton noodles were pretty good. They give alot of congee but taste was just okay. Decor was cute. Food didn't take too long to come out considering there was only one person working and it was also a random Monday afternoon. Overall, just okay and I feel like I could get tastier food for better prices in the mpk/sg/alhambra area.

When we were ordering the server asked if we wanted a couple of waters, we didn't get them until after we got our food. The chilaquiles were good. I love my food spicy and the flavor hit! The rice was pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the beans, they weren't bad, but they weren't good. Something that affected my stay was the pool situation. I was shocked when I discovered how small the pool area is for such a nice big hotel overall. There wasn't enough lounge chairs or anywhere to sit in general. Everyone was playing their own music loud, some louder than others, a bunch of kids splashing everywhere and I was surprised by this since I was thinking this would be a calm, peaceful resort setting. I was honestly surprised that there was no security at the time to enforce anything. Overall I tried to make the best of the circumstances but I will never return to this pool unfortunately.
