I don't understand any negative reviews here. My experience has been all positive. I just did a full tenting termite fumigation and the whole thing was as good as could be. From the first inspection to the crew taking down the tent and doing air quality checks, everyone I dealt with was polite and professional. I also thought the price was great compared to other quotes I received. Larry was responsive, proactive and professional with my million questions and requests. Felipe, the onsite manager of the subcontractor was equally great. I'd recommended highly. read more

His company is not honest His employees came out to inspect our condo, I explained we had live termites, they looked disgusted with their job, told me that they didnt see anything and left 5 minutes after. I called the company a few months after and told them I had termites all over they said they were booked for weeks ahead. And even if they came out and didnt see Any physically that they wouldn't do anything. I called and told Larry that his reviews seemed to say his company doesn't seem legit and he got very defensive and started yelling! They did exactly what they said they would do. Turnaround was a few (3-4) days, but expected. Staff (office and field) were polite and helpful. We use them for the condo association, but interior issues *belong* to the individual owner, that is in the CCRs. No problems with the company. read more

I logged in to yelp to refer Higgins to a friend and was surprised to see some negative reviews. Everyone's experience is their own, and ours has always been positive. We are a small 7 unit HOA with a long standing contract with Higgins. We've never had a problem with the service that we Higgins has provided. Quite frankly they have had to be patient with us because we have one owner that couldn't get his act together to provide access for a needed treatment. The poor tech had to come out 3 times. As some of the other reviews have mentioned, the front receptionist has a terrible attitude. I've called a couple times during a recent fumigation to ask a couple of questions and the tone from her was very condescending and unfriendly. I get that she probably gets the same questions from customers frequently, but it's unprofessional and provides a bad look on the company. Higgins Termite upper management needs to either talk to her or find someone new to replace her. In terms of the fumigation itself, everything turned out well. The workers did a good job in fumigating the place efficiently. No items were stolen from my property. Plants around the property were watered to ensure that they did not die. Overall I am happy with this part. Higgins just needs to work on their customer service. read more

The worst termite company to deal with. They came out to the property and never followed up or sent a follow up report. We had to call them 5 times and send 3 e-mails to get them to respond to our request. Then the owner Larry Higgins calls us and says he tried to call us and we hung up on him. Lies! Never again! Higgins Termite has been servicing our Condo complex for about 15 years. Recently we tented our complex, and Higgins did a great job organizing & educating the homeowners as to how to prepare for the tenting. We have several elderly homeowners that needed a little extra help, and Larry Higgins personally saw to it that they properly prepared their homes. While preparing to tent, the long list of poor reviews and tales of stolen items were certainly worrisome, but nothing like that happened to us. We did hire security to watch the building, while it was tented. This is Los Angeles, I think it would be foolish not to do that. Higgins prices are very reasonable, we did quote out the tenting project and Higgins came in cheapest. I do wish they were a bit more tech savvy; I don't believe Larry even has an email address, and most estimates & invoices are handwritten. That said, Larry Higgins takes great pride in his work, and that attitude rubs off on all of his employees. I feel our HOA is in good hands with Higgins. read more

I agree with the previous comments about the receptionist for this company. Mr Higgins, please replace your receptionist or scheduler. SHE is incredibly RUDE, BAD ATTITUDE, condescending and poor customer service! Terrible communication between scheduling the technicians and homeowners. She has got to go. Her name is K** or something. We are paying high monthly HOA dues for this terrible service. HOAs, please stop using this company, until they improve their customer service! I have no experience with their actual termite treatment yet...because the receptionist can't get the schedules straight! They keep saying there are no techs available for treatments and they fricking show up the next day when homeowners aren't home! My tenant saw termite droppings on the kitchen window sill right after Christmas. Even though it was the holidays, Larry Higgins came out the same day I reached out and the treatment was done the next day. They provided a full report of recommendations. I went there during treatment and was shown the areas outside that need attention. Very affordable as well. I highly recommend this company! read more

Do not use this company. I called about a question on a report that was received and could not get an answer. The receptionist had a HUGE attitude and would not give me any information. After I said the attitude wasn't necessary she hung up on me. They obviously have caller ID and would not pick up the phone after I called back a few times to try and talk to a manager. I deal with termite/pest control companies every day (for work) and have never been treated so poorly. Again, I would not call them or use them if you can help it. read more

I am the owner of The Management Emporium, Inc., a Glendale based property management company. My firm has been using Higgins Termite Company regularly for at least the last thirty years because their service for multi-family buildings (apartments and condominiums) is simply the best. Can you imagine tenting an 85 unit or a four-building 36 unit condominium? Very difficult work and when the wind came up while tented, Larry Higgins drove his motorhome to the site and stayed there until the tenting was completed. You cannot possibly buy better service than that!! Higgins Termite also had consistently handled the needed preparation with the individual residents far better than other firms. I work on the HOA board of a condo complex. We have been working with Higgins for the past couple of years. This year we've hired several other companies to inspect the condo for price comparison. Higgins' professionalism exceeded all of those other companies. For my unit specifically, the inspector did a thorough examination and even found termites under my newly bought bed (an area which inspectors don't usually look at). When it comes time for treatment, they are very courteous and polite while in the house. For price negotiations I've personally talked to Larry, the owner, and he was straight forward and helpful. They provided a quote for an one year contract for the condo that couldn't be beat by other companies. I will definitely work with Higgins again in the future. read more

Higgins was used by our HOA and I would have selected them myself had I needed to. They were easy to reach via phone, arrived on time for the inspection and work, and made sure to do the job professionally and made sure it gone done right - even going so far as to knowing I had a crawl space in my unit that the previous owner had covered up, uncovering it, using it to ensure the termites were cleared out completely, and recovering it. read more

This was first company I called for inspection. Subsequently I had 4 other companies come so I have a great sources of comparison. 1) Inspector showed up, said "inspection" only means a look at the area where I detected infestation, and that if I wanted a walk through I would have to call and schedule again. What a waste of my time. ALL other companies I called said an initial free inspection is a 60-90 minute thorough walk through of whole house. 2) I told him I had termites behind my couch. He told me he had a surgery recently and couldn't push my couch aside to see. Um, ok... ...?! So after I started to push it myself, then he helped. The point is though, why would u come to do an inspection if you aren't capable of that?! Again, all other companies that came moved stuff around, climbed, crawled, etc. 3) I was told I need to fumigate. So he was supposed to send me a bid. It has been over a month - no bid, never heard from them. Overall I got the unorganized, lazy vibe from them. Only reason I gave it 2 stars was he was on-time and nice. read more

Higgins is the best there is and their prices are more than just competitive, they are fair and honest. I am a Realtor and I have not used any other company for almost 20 years and my wife is a property manager and manages hundreds of units so she weeds out bad vendors quickly. It was she who introduced me to Higgins in the first place. Neither of us would think of using anyone else for our remediation. I had Higgins Termite come out today to treat a termite problem on my balcony. They were very thorough and professional, and made sure to check the rest of the home for evidence of termites. They came on time, were very nice, and treated everything on the spot. Can't comment on price because my HOA company was the one being billed, but would definitely recommend them. read more

Higgins Termite was used at my old townhouse by the HOA. I had a termite problem at my new house and remembered Higgins. I ended up needing treatment for subterranean and tenting for structure termites. Jeff was my inspector, he was very knowledgeable and gave good directions on how to prep for the work. They were timely, did a good job, and their price was very competitive (I got quotes from 3 companies). They also gave a better warranty on their work than the other companies I spoke with. *some of these customer reviews say the "good" reviews are fake, THIS IS NOT A FAKE REVIEW!!! read more

I've had one recent experience with Higgins and another that was about ten years ago. My Condo HOA contracts for Termite services with Higgins. About in 2006, the HOA scheduled an interior termite inspection for the complete development. That day, Higgins had a large group of workers throughout the complex. When they came to my door, they were working in pairs. The two went up to my 2nd floor and worked for about 5 to 10 minutes. I followed to watch what they were doing. All of a sudden, the two split and one stayed on the 2nd floor while the other went to the first floor. I stayed with the guy on the 2nd floor( I live alone). The inspection came to a close and they didn't find any termite problems. After they left, I noticed a nice pocket knife I had on my kitchen counter was missing. Now, I didn't see the guy take the knife; nevertheless, it didn't walk away by its self. The knife was probably worth about $40. Recently, I placed condo up for sale and had a termite inspection in July. I was told by the Higgins office clerk and the Higgins inspector that the interior inspection would be $85 and the HOA would pay for the exterior inspection. On the day of the inspection, Higgins showed up in a pair again. They worked mostly together on the second floor and then the split up again like before. I stayed with the guy on the second floor. Luckily, my condo was vacant and there was nothing to steal. The inspection came to a close and they did not find any termite damage. I gave them an $85.00 check to pay for the inspection. Now here is the issue, my escrow company was billed by Higgins for an exterior termite inspection that was ordered by the HOA. I never ordered an exterior termite inspection. The escrow company paid the bill. After the close of escrow, I found out I paid Higgins $170 for what was supposed to be an $85 inspection. I called both my Escrow Company and Higgins about the issue. The escrow company refused to refund my money and so did Higgins. For $85.00, I'm not going to take a day off of work to file a small claims suite. Nevertheless, I will not be a customer of Higgins or the escrow company again. read more

HORRIBLE!! I truly believe that all Larry Higgins cares about is getting your money and I agree with other reviewers that any positive reviews on here are fake. I just sold my townhome and the HOA is contracted with him. So when I needed a termite inspection for escrow, we called Higgins. There was evidence of termites (so he said even though the units had just been sprayed a couple of months ago) and also wrote up a long list of wood damage that needed repairing. I just had new carpeting installed in the bedrooms and Larry Higgins literally ripped up the corner of the carpet to inspect the floor board! He did not ask permission beforehand nor did he even bother to put it back the way it was. He just literally tore it up! Both my agent and I explained that we needed the report ASAP to submit to escrow. The next day we had not yet received the report and he said he hadn't gotten around to it because of the rain. What does rain have to do with writing up your report??!! After his company came back and sprayed and the HOA repaired the work he noted, he came back to reinspect. He charges $85 for the inspection and another $85 to reinspect. He was at my house no more than 2 minutes and all he cared about was who was going to pay the $85 reinspection fee even though he had already been told 3 times between myself and the HOA that the HOA would be paying for it. Now, if you know anything about selling a home, you need a full clearance report to be submitted to escrow. Well, Larry Higgins STILL did not issue the report and I received a call from his office the next day saying that there was one last section that needed to be inspected. Why didn't Higgins inspect it while he was there?! Another tech came out that day to reinspect which caused further delay in receiving the inspection report. Dealing with Larry Higgins was so stressful and he caused major delays in the closing of escrow. Oh, and I was informed by someone else who works on the property that they believe Higgins just says he sprays for termites when in fact he does not, so that he can continue to come back and charge more money for repeat jobs. DO NOT USE HIGGINS! I hope the HOA ends their contract with him after seeing first hand the stress and issues he caused. read more
