    The sandwich I ordered
    Jeff A.

Stopped in for a sandwich because I'm not big on fast food or greasy crap. I don't remember the name of the sandwich, but I'll post the picture. It was absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend.

Carrot cake, pretty decent, little dry.

Eaten here a couple times, and I've come to the conclusion that it's just okay. Very healthy food, but the texture and flavor just isn't there on most things. On this occasion I had the chicken chili and Carrot Cake. I usually don't feel that chicken should be the main protein in chili and sorry I'm still not convinced. It lacked texture and the piece of bread included wasn't quite it for me too. The carrot cake was better although maybe slightly over baked as it was a touch dry but not too bad. Service is always fine if not a bit unfriendly as it is a counter order affair this doesn't effect much, and the outside seating area is among the poppies right now which is pretty, even if right on the road. I'm being a little hard on the place it's really not bad, but in pursuit of being ultimately healthy it really hurts the flavor and texture of the food, you can't even get a Diet Coke or something if you want it with your meal. It's slim pickings in Mariposa so consider this little place just keep in mind it's going to be more healthy than delicious.

Cute little grocery store with a cafe attached. Prices are surprisingly reasonable. My husband and i both got sandwiches for lunch-we got the Mariposan. It was decent thought not well stuffed and came with chips. The sandwiches were all $10-$15 each.

My daughter and I had an absolutely fantastic lunch here. They have a great menu with a variety of healthy options. I tried the Usona and she had the El Capitan, both were prepared fresh and were so good! The store itself is well stocked and I loved the apothecary section as well as the natural soaps that you can refill. I will certainly be back for some more shopping and to try another one of their fabulous sandwiches.

What a great find on our drive home from Yosemite! Located in a lovely little grocery store, this sunny cafe has an amazing menu of sandwiches, salads, and soups at reasonable prices. Wow, did it feel good to have so many healthy options after a couple days on the road. Of course, that doesn't mean I ignored the homemade chocolate chip cookies

2/04/25 Getting lunch! The worker was very kind and happy to give recommendations. Their most, popular, Totokon, that he said was plenty to share. It won! He said it would be ready shortly and I went in to get it shortly later. It's a little grocery store & restaurant. Short wait in line. Told worker my name and it was handed over. Lunchtime! Sandwich split. LARGE! My half was Really DELICIOUS! Fresh & Flavorful! Great side sauce too! Mother said her half was GREAT with nice flavor! Good service & GREAT lunch! Highly recommended!

Great selection, fresh cooked food, excellent service. Had a chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich served with a smile (thanks Joy!)

Half drunk carrot juice (forgot to take a pic!)

Before I talk about this place, I highly recommend the El Portal route into Yosemite if you're trying to find reduced traffic heading in, which passes by this place. The pay station also has a shorter drive into the valley. Of course, if it's your first time ever in Yosemite, you may prefer the route that enters through Tunnel View, although going through El Portal only takes about another 20mins to drive back into Tunnel View. Anyways, this was the perfect pit stop for our road trip. Honestly I didn't make reservations to get into Yosemite this time, so was stuck going in after 4pm. I timed getting here on time but was still early so made the best choice ever to stop here. It's basic but has everything you need as a pit stop - groceries, cafe with fresh juices, AC, indoor seating and clean bathroom. This is going in my bookmarks!

High Country Café is Mariposa's answer to "What if lunch made me feel amazing instead of slightly guilty?" It's the home of the sprout-stuffed pita sandwich, where everything tastes fresh, clean, and like it was pre-approved by your digestive system. Tucked right next to a health food store, you can grab a sandwich, a kombucha, and a bag of candied ginger in one smooth move -- the holy trinity of snacks for anyone about to hit the trails in Yosemite or just pretend they're going. It's quick, wholesome, and perfect for grabbing on the go before your big hike. No fryer smell, no nap-required food coma -- just real fuel that won't fight you halfway up the switchbacks. Whether you're chasing waterfalls or just chasing balance, High Country is your pre-adventure pit stop. Sprouts, pita, peace. Go forth and hike gloriously.

This is just a few of the amazing products I get here.

High Country Health Food Store is the best in the west. Amazing organic produce. Unique meats- they have liverwurst that's organic. Display everything high-end with care. The people here take time care and attention to details. They are very kind and helpful. When they bag your groceries, they don't just throw it in the bag. The buyer here includes unique products that you just don't find at other stores. Highly recommend this wonderful store. The premade tuna sandwich is the best in the deli. So good. Amazing. They even have a very nice seating area to eat with a nice view of the mountains.

Amazing sandwiches! Fresh produce. Delicious. Gluten and dairy free options. Very nice people! Great selection of food.

This might be the best sandwich I've ever had. There's a seating area, but it's definitely the deli inside a health food grocery store.

It's the kind of place where the coffee is strong, the portions are hearty, and the Second Amendment is very much alive and well -- possibly laminated and framed near the register. The steak and eggs are a rite of passage. No frills, no avocado garnish, just straight-up protein power for whatever wilderness adventure (or political debate) lies ahead. The décor leans more "hunting lodge realism" than "Instagrammable brunch spot," and honestly, that's the charm. It's a locals' spot through and through, where everyone knows your truck, your dog's name, and probably how many tags you've filled this season. Steve's is less café, more Mariposa institution -- a hearty, proudly unfiltered spot where breakfast comes with gravy, grit, and a side of freedom. Bring your appetite, your flannel, and maybe your best tall tale.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND‼‼…read more It was my first time at June lake with my boyfriend so we looked up cafes and WOW pino pies was the best choice. We had to go two days in a row just to try more pies :) we got our food very quickly both times and the owner was such a kind lady :D we got the steak&ale with cheese (my personal favorite), potato top, lamb ( boyfriends favorite), butter chicken, and apple pies as well as a sausage roll (sounds like alot for two people but we were dying to try as much as possible before returning home) prices super reasonable for the size and taste of the pies. The crust was so buttery and flaky and they were honestly all so yummy!! The desserts were delicious we tried the caramel bars (chefs kiss) and the raspberry coconut beautifully made and was so refreshing and such a good palate cleanser after the savory pies :D my bf and I shared an iced dirty chai latte and it was soooo yummy i miss it already. I really loved the place it was so calm and it has a very nice seating area inside and outside looking out to the other shops! I really appreciated the paper near the display of pies as it explained the ingredients in each separate pie. I will come again asap, pino pies pls wait for me again next year

Absolutely disgraceful customer service from both the owner and the cashier at Pino's Pies. "If you…read moredon't like it, go to Mammoth!" PLUS they said they would give me credit then did not. Today my son and I ordered three different meat pies, and I ordered--and paid $7.75 for--a large, 16-ounce hot dirty chai tea. I also asked for a separate cup of ice because I wanted to drink some of the chai hot and pour some over ice. Instead, they gave me a small chai and a large cup filled with ice. When I pointed out that this was not what I had ordered or paid for, the thin grey haired owner told me to "pour the small chai over the ice" and--presto--it would become a large, 16-ounce drink. How stupid do they think their customers are? Do they discriminate against white 65 year old women? Apparently. Ice does not magically turn a small chai into the large chai I paid for. It merely waters down a smaller amount of tea. I ordered a LARGE HOT CHAI and a cup of ice--not a small chai disguised as a large drink by filling the rest of the cup with frozen water. When I calmly objected, the owner and cashier became shockingly rude and hostile. Rather than simply correcting their mistake, I was told by the tall, straggly dark haired cashier, "That's the way we do it here. If you don't like it, you can go to Mammoth or go somewhere else. Fuck off and get the fuck out of here." That is an outrageous way to treat a paying customer--especially one who had just purchased three meat pies along with an overpriced $7.75 chai. PLUS TIP! Total bill? $49.72. As of this writing, the credit he supposedly issued has not been issued at my bank. When I asked him for the last four numbers of the card for the refund, he gave me the wrong last four of MY credit card number. I said no, my last four digits are XXXX. He said he gave me the credit and "get the fuck out of here!" and no proof of the credit. He was so tightly strung, I left as I didn't know what his next move would be. I contacted my bank as as of this writing NO CREDIT has been given. I will reverse the whole charge if I'm not credited by the end of today. I was not being difficult or unreasonable. I simply expected to receive the size I ordered and paid for. The owner and cashier could not have been more arrogant, insulting, or unprofessional. If this is "the way they do it here," then customers should take their money somewhere else. I certainly will and we will make sure the USC snow ski team is enlightened as we both were on it and know plenty of amazing people up here who don't deserve to be treated this way.
