Best wood fired pizza in the desert and possibly all of Nevada. Well worth the flight!

Hometown Coffee sits in an old house someone cared enough to fix up. Big windows. Open seating. Warm inside. The kind of place you wish more places were. Feels more like Gardnerville or midtown Reno. But better, because it's here. Local. Real. You could bring out of town friends here and not feel the need to explain anything. They'd get it. The staff knows their stuff. They're kind without trying. They ask the right questions. They remember what you like. The building feels like it's been waiting for this to happen. Like it was always meant to be a place where people sit and talk and feel at home. I've come here a few times since they opened. Read a little. Worked on some designs. Sipped coffee or Thai tea. Never once felt out of place. The sound in the room stays steady. Just enough voices to keep you company. Not so much you have to fight to think. I'll keep coming back. I'll keep telling people. Not because it's flashy or loud. But because it's good. And that's rare.

Somewhat of a new bakery and general food spot in Yerrington. I have come here a few times now to…read moregrab lunch and each time its been solid. I have had their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Philly Cheesesteak, and Carne asada burrito. Even with the food being above average I still hesitate to go back because of a few things. First one being in regards to the seating within the restaurant. It's a complete joke. I don't want to sit in small uncomfortable metal chairs or a wooden bench. Second, is their french fries, they are way to greasy and really just suck. I have even requested them to be well done but even then they are limp and greasy. Lastly, why can't I have a breakfast burrito for lunch. It's weird that I can have it after 2pm but can't at noon. Overall, like it said it's not a bad spot but it's also not a spot I would crave to eat at either.

I've already been here a couple times now. I wanted to wait on reviewing it until they've had…read moreenough time to work out the kinks (they've recently opened). I'll start by saying I'm not crazy about the interior. I do like the hanging lights they've put up to give it a dark & cozy feel, but I hate the seating arrangements. For starters, there's only 2-3 tables with chairs and they look cheap. Almost like they picked them up at a garage sale or something. Also, the place doesn't have a very welcoming vibe to it, in my opinion. It appears unorganized and hastily thrown together. That's the biggest area of improvement I see for this place. Now on to the good. On my first visit, all I ordered was the Peanut Butter Protein shake and it wasn't very good. The taste of banana was strong with only a hint of PB. This time around, the flavor profile was much more balanced. So while it has improved, it's still something I feel I could just whip up at home instead of plopping down $6 bucks for. It needs something added to give it a boost. I also gave the food a shot and ordered the, "New York", bagel. It was scrambled egg, bacon, cheese, and ham (I had them hold the ham) sandwiched in between a, you guessed it, bagel. I will admit, it was delicious. Huge, as well. They certainly don't skimp on the serving size. My only complaint was that they used what appeared to be a "Kraft" slice of cheese. I could be wrong, but that's what it looked like to me. I wish they would use a higher quality cheese. The customer service is good. In the few times I've been there I haven't encountered any rude employees. While I feel that there's definitely some improvements that need to be addressed, they're also off to a decent start. Using better quality ingredients, labeling items that contain nuts (for those with allergies), and improving the look & feel of the interior is what I would like to see. I will definitely come back from time to time to try out other menu items.

We got a chocolate croissant (only decent thing I got, but don't compare it to an artisanal made croissant where it's a dark golden brown with flaky crispy buttery layers). Their "croissants" are more like anemic, soft, moist bread. Also, got a cheese Danish. Starbucks sells a better cheese Danish than this place. The Danish was dry and hard and the center filling looked like it was pre-made frozen and just placed on top of the Danish. Finally, the worst of the worst, I got a personal size dutch apple crumble pie. Now THIS looked like it was made from scratch and I had hopes for this one. However, I took a piece of the crumble topping and ate it. It had an unusual funny taste. Almost like it was made with lavender. Didn't taste quite right. Then, when I got back to my hotel, I really dug into it. It wasn't just the crumble that was off, but the entire pie tasted of rancid spoiled butter. I had to spit it out, it was horrible. I can't believe they would serve that. I don't know how old that thing was, but they need better quality control. The only people I could see giving this place 5 stars on the food, are locals. Tahoe is behind when it comes to quality high end artisanal pastries. I have yet to find a decent coffee shop. Their sign boasts "Voted Best in Tahoe", but you'll see that almost every spot here has the same sign, from ice cream shops to bakeries to whatever else because there's literally nothing here. If you're from a big city, don't come here. Service was pleasant. No complaints.

Fun & Unique Dessert Spot -- Great for Kids!…read more We often make a stop at The Baked Bear when we're in South Lake Tahoe for a sweet, memorable treat! This place has a very fun and unique concept -- you get to build your own custom ice cream sandwich by choosing your favorite cookies or brownies and pairing them with premium ice cream in the middle. You can even add toppings or have it pressed warm for an extra gooey indulgence. Personally, it's much sweeter than I normally go for -- definitely a sugar overload -- but that's exactly what makes it a perfect treat for kids. They absolutely loved it! It's big, rich, and very instagram‑worthy! For what you get, about $9.50 is pretty fair in South Lake Tahoe -- especially considering how fresh the cookies and ice cream are and how customizable the dessert is. It's the kind of place where you choose your own adventure with cookie flavors, ice cream flavors, and toppings, and the friendly staff is great at helping you decide what goes best together. We enjoy the vibe here -- it's relaxed, the staff is kind and helpful, and it makes for a fun family stop after dinner or while exploring downtown. Definitely a great spot if you're in the mood for a creative and delicious dessert experience! Especially if you are good at sharing :)
