It was an experience for sure and honestly, I would have felt cheated missing that part of being in a ski resort town.

The Breckenridge Gondola (also called the BreckConnect) provides a way for skiers, boarders and…read moretourists to have access to the ski resort from Breckenridge. The gondola takes you to the base of Peak 8 and is free to ride. Each cabin can carry up to eight passengers and goes 7,600 feet in about 10 to 12 minutes. The gondola makes two stops before making its way to Peak 8. If you want to go to the Independence SuperChair lift, the gondola makes a midway stop at Peak 7. Just make sure you have a lift or Epic Pass on you so that you can board the lift. The other stop is at Shock Hill Station and is for residents only. The gondola's main station is located just about a block from Main Street on the North side of town next to the Breckenridge Transportation Center. Even though it is free to ride the gondola, you still have to pay to park. There are also restrooms nearby. We enjoyed our ride up the gondola and the conversations that we were able to make with other skiers. The ride was smooth and you can't beat the views of the Breckenridge Ski Resort mountains. The gondola is open to everyone to ride (including dogs). The gondola isn't just for winter season activities. It is also a great way to visit the Breckenridge Fun Park during the summer season.

When the photographer came around, she asked my parents to move to a larger table so we could all squeeze in the picture. After the photo, my parents stayed at the new seats. When my son asked for water, we were all told that we were denied service for the remainder of the ride (another 45 minutes) because my parents had not returned to their seats after the photo, even though they'd never been asked to do so and two children had moved into their old seats when they got up. My 10 year old then had to watch all the other kids having hot chocolate and cookies while he wasn't "allowed" to have anything. The waitress also had the security guard sit with my elderly parents for the remainder of the ride so they didn't get out of line. So humiliating and unwarranted. It was honestly the most bizarre experience we've ever encountered. Santa seemed like he'd been drinking - saying weird things to the kids and to my husband. Very inappropriate. I spoke with Mark, the Commissioner in charge of the Georgetown Loop, and he immediately refunded our money. I do hope they change their staffing to better reflect the beauty and tradition of the experience.

Let me be frank: I had some serious "dad dread" when I booked this. I was sure it would be another…read moreoverpriced tourist trap. I'm happy to report I was wrong. We visited at night, which is definitely the move to maximize the LED light effects embedded in the ice. You have to pre-book a timed entry, and we found that 45 minutes to an hour was the perfect amount of time. Fair warning: It is significantly colder inside the structure than it is in the parking lot. You absolutely need a heavy parka and real snow boots--the ground is crushed, slushy ice that will ruin sneakers and freeze your feet in minutes. The layout is impressive and clearly designed with both kids and the "selfie nation" in mind. The twins spent most of their time on the ice slides--they have different sizes for various age groups--along with the snow tunnels and ice thrones. We skipped the $30 professional photographer and stuck to iPhone photos, which worked out fine. Towards the end of the path, there's a great setup with a fire pit, live music, and s'mores. The highlight for me was the Frozen Tap ice bar. The igloo bartender was great, and I highly recommend the adult hot chocolate with a double shot of Old Elk PB&W (a local peanut butter whiskey from Fort Collins)--it was exactly what was needed to take the edge off the cold. Classic "exit through the gift shop" setup at the end, though you can navigate around it if the kids are being demanding. Overall, a magical experience that actually lived up to the hype.

Most of the ice castles were melting unfortunately end of january so really was not overall very impressive. Bought a 430 pm time slot in hopes we would be able to see it lit up but alas we did not. It is also not very big, there were not a lot of ice sculptures. We spent maybe about 30 minutes in there. For a 3.5 hour drive each way, 30 minutes of walking through was not really worth it. I really really wanted to have an amazing experience. Oh also at one point, i was trying to look at a statue and then someone, assuming it was an employee starting sending ice off the top right on top of me??! I guess he did not bother to look down before he started "working" and they did not have the area closed off. There were a lot of kids around when we came up. If you are far away I would save your money and time. If you are local to it and can drive there in under 30 minutes, then maybe it would be worth it?? probably more so on a year that it was not warm.

There was basically no snow/ice removal starting a few feet from the front steps. Sleep quality here was mediocre. Even though we were on the far side of the hotel, we could hear workers randomly yelling as they arrived in the morning and the same godawful playlist from the village (I think?) starting at 7 AM sharp every day. I don't think I saw a single member of custodial staff the entire time we stayed here. Seemed to be a bit of a free for all with dumb people drinking from glass bottles in the hot tubs, wet towels strewn about the common areas at 9 AM the next day, and an awful smell permeating from the steam room. Still kind of worth it for the cheap price but feels just like the resort itself, like perpetual college night at Killington in Vermont.

Each of the condos at the Springs are individually owned, so some units have been renovated. My remarks are about unit 8825 which is a 1BR with a sleeper sofa. The bed was a double, not Q or K.
