    Love the decor

I loved the tiki bar! They really went all out with all the details and we kept pointing out different things about the decor My mango monsoon was perfection. I would get this drink every time! The mugs were so cute! The server was friendly and gave us recommendations around the area since we were visiting from out of town

Cute lil bar with live music! Tiki inspired, kind of reminded me of Disneyland. Our service was great and so were the drinks. We had a variety of different drinks- beer, old fashions, mango michelada and the blue Hawaiian.

Me and hubby shared a mermaid bowl. It was yummy. Lots of cool spots to take pics, there is also a small upstairs nook. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, even with a private event going on.

I've always seen this place but never had a chance to try it out. Either we didn't have time or when we do, they were closing. Well, it was a festive weekend in Solvang and literally everyone was out and about enjoying the holiday season and lights. Pretty much everything was packed or a major line. Decided to try this place out for a drink and to warm up a little. It's not a big place but quite roomy. There was patio seating along the side as well as the main bar area right when you walk in. It's smaller in that room. But we were seating in the back room which was slightly bigger. I can say it's quite a cool and creative fun place. Hawaii meets cocktails obviously. A cool design of the place giving tiki bar. Sofa seating along the wall and hi top tables and tables along the sides. Drink menu was fun. Pretty much mixed cocktails. As it was the holiday, they also had mulled wine which I did try. You could purchase the holiday mug that it comes in if needed. It was quite tasty and perfect for the holiday spirit. Warm and smooth but with a little special touch. Also tried the prickly pear margaritas and mojitos. They came with a lighted ice cube for the extra sparkle. Drinks were good and festive. It did get busy as people were starting to trickle in. It's a cool bar in Solvang. Drinks were pretty tasty. And priced well.

It had been a few months since our last visit to the High Roller, and unfortunately this experience was very different from the previous one. It appeared that there was only one server, one bartender, and the owner working during an extremely busy time, which made the overall experience feel overwhelming and unorganized. When we first arrived, we were seated immediately, which was great. However, once we sat down, the service went downhill. Our order was taken, but after waiting over 20 minutes without receiving any drinks, my boyfriend went to grab waters for us. When he asked the bartender for cups--since there were none at the self-serve station--she rudely pointed out where the water was, even though he already knew. He had to remind her that there were no cups available. The drinks themselves were good, but the service was very poor. I understand that the owner is heavily involved and clearly puts a lot of effort into the bar. When I asked how he was doing, he seemed rushed and stressed, as he was acting as both server and bartender. He mentioned that things would be better if customers weren't yelling at him. While I sympathize with being understaffed, the frustration from customers seemed to stem from the long wait times and lack of service. The inside of the bar is cute and well decorated which makes me love this cool little spot, but sometimes the decor gets washed up by the service. Overall, the potential is there, but better staffing and customer service are needed to improve the experience, Especially during the holiday season when it's jam packed with tourists.

Stumbled upon High Roller on a weekend trip to Solvang and honestly, it was such a fun break from all the Danish bakeries. The vibe is super tropical--it feels like a little hidden patio getaway. I wasn't sure about wine-based tiki drinks at first, but they were actually really good (and a nice switch up from heavy rum drinks). They have beer too if that's more your thing. Just a heads up: they don't serve food, so definitely eat before you go. Great spot for a casual tiki drink.

Had a wonderful experience at this Tiki lounge. I arrived for early morning drinks at 11am. Don't judge me, I was on vacation ;) The vibes at this place were great, and the drinks were even better. They also have a great retail area in which you can purchase shirts and tiki glassware. The bartender that helped us was very friendly and loud is plenty of time to make our decision. The drink menu was extensive. I wish this place was close to my home. I would be there at least once a week for a delicious tiki drink

Such a fun place to get cocktails. The drinks came out so festive and so cute. The service was great. We enjoyed barhopping around Solvang, but this is probably got to be one of my favorites. When I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely be back It's a fun tiki bar vibe that's Instagram worthy.

Such a fun little establishment in Solvang. Very dog- friendly service. They kept us all hydrated and comfortable as we were seated in the upstairs vip. It felt like we were at home curled up on the sofas in front of the tv. There was a lot of fun memorabilia all over the walls including an old cigarette machine. It was a cozy setup and made for great conversations. The cocktail menu was extensive with something for everybody. Prices were not crazy either. The drinks were made well with little accessories as decor.

Okay, fellow tiki travelers- these are wine-based tiki drinks. They are not as strong as liquor-based drinks. I have been here many times over the years, back to when they were in the back of Sort This Out Cellars. The owner is still the owner and the tiki environment he has built is right up there with the best tiki bars still in existence. This most recent visit was right at opening time (1:00 pm on a Monday) and Solvang was still jumping with weekend visitors. We ducked in from the families and other assorted tourists on the sidewalks of Alisol Rd into the relatively cool and definitely dark environs of the High Roller. Our bartender and consummate host Dylan was there at the bar, smiling and ready to answer questions. All tiki drinks (except bowls) are $13. I chose a Blue Hawaiian for the aesthetic and the nutritious pineapple juice! It's blue and comes with a light-up cube (don't steal it, you can get your own online for cheap). I did get a buzz (as a seasoned imbiber) but on an empty tummy so no guarantees on strength rating, you party animals. The back room from the main bar is my favorite room - it was dark and quiet and so well decorated with lights and sound and all things tiki. This is one of my happy places and I'm coming back for their murder mystery event on April 19!

The coolest bar in solvang!!! I absolutely fell in love with the decoration and the ambiance they have going on at this tiki bar! So freaking cool!!!! They have a huge selection of drinks and cocktails! We ordered the mermaid bowl because it looked so cool, and it was so good! Sweet, refreshing and big! Lol I loved this tiki bar! If you're in solvang make sure to visit them! Also, they don't have any food in there just a snack box.

We love this place! We've been to Solvang twice and made sure to stop by each time. We can't wait to come back again! Great selection, NA options and a very fun and relaxing ambiance. This is such a fun tiki lounge and one of the best I've been to!

Do you want to be whisked away to a tropical beach with a fancy drink in hand? This is the place to go--minus the actual beach, but all the beachy vibes are here! From the décor to the atmosphere, it's like stepping into a vacation. The drink selection is huge, with tons of creative cocktails that lean into tropical flavors. Whether you're into something strong, sweet, or somewhere in between, there's something for everyone. It's unlike any other bar in the area--fun, unique, and full of personality. Perfect spot to unwind, sip something colorful, and pretend you're on island time.

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

Comfy and relaxing, and dim lighting. Drink menu was diverse. Great selection. From cocktails to all types of alcohol. With an average price range of $15. Bartender knew his craft. All drinks ordered were great! C for service. The service dept needs some help, and I get it, with one person serving 15+ people. It is impossible to provide a5 star service. Initially service was great with a smile when we first arrived @ 6 pm. But soon after the bar became super busy. The wait was 20-30 minutes for an order. It was time to leave. We asked for our check and it came non-itemized. If it was 2 or 4 drinks that would be fine, but we were party of 3 with over 10 drinks. Then we had to wait again after asking for an itemized check. Waiter stated they need to hand write as their "machine" was not working. That took more time than needed. Ahhhhhh.... Ah well.. you can't get it all. Hence the 3.5 stars. I recommend, to sit at the bar and maybe pay cash to avoid hurdles I experienced.

You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. We were ready to walk out, but our drinks finally arrived. I suggested we ask for the check sooner than later, considering how long it took to get our drinks. (Others who arrived after us did not seem to have to wait as long as we did.) Moments later, the vibe completely turned around when the bartender blew a conch shell to award a patron a Ventiki fez, accomplished after drinking all 60 cocktails on their in-house passport. That energy really helped recapture any aloha we felt upon arriving and we ended up staying for hours and chatting with staff. The place redeemed itself. We promised to return with some friends shortly who were driving through Ventura. We stepped out to grab coffee while waiting for our friends to arrive. We were excited to show them this place. When our friends got there around 4pm, they received an incredibly cold greeting at the entrance. They sent us a text and we told them we were a block away having just picked up a coffee and heading their way. When we all arrived together, a bouncer was at the front stand, boorish and inhospitable... his immediate attitude was downright insulting. (He wasn't around when we were there earlier.) He had previously refused to seat our friends at a table for four--even though we were just a block away--demanded we throw away our coffees, and asked us for ID. (My husband and I are in our late 50s/early 60s, and friends late 40s.) We literally had just been there for a couple hours and spent a good amount of money. Sure, I understand places have policies, but this attitude was COMPLETELY different than when we were there earlier. The bouncer was a self-important jerk about the whole thing. We went from giving them a second chance after they rekindled the aloha spirit to being completely turned off by the bouncer's egomaniacal attitude. Again, 4pm Sunday, no line or anything. Not some nightclub. Utterly unnecessary brute at the front. Rude and completely uninviting customer service. We ended up going down the street to a local brewpub that welcomed us, no attitude, no carding, and they didn't bat an eye at our coffee cups. AND when we parted ways with our friends, they told us they swung by Ventiki to talk to the manager. The manager told them she supports her bouncer and was unapologetic. If there was a society for tiki lounges with a membership card, this place should have their card revoked. They are not worthy. Tearing up the fez passport I started and will never set foot in there again.

Super cute place that's dog friendly with outdoor seating under trees. Very friendly staff and…read moreservice. Lots of games and couches to lounge and chill. We came in for Happy Hour on a Thursday before a Bowl show and had a great time. Drinks were yummy!

We went to The Cruisery for my dog's 12th birthday, and I'm honestly obsessed with this place…read more I've reviewed this spot before, but this visit deserved an update because it was such a fun and unique experience. It's right on State Street and extremely dog-friendly--like, dogs of all sizes are welcome and actually celebrated here. Not just tolerated... celebrated. They offer dog birthday packages (yes, really), and for $49 it was such a fun experience. Lobo got a full birthday setup: a reserved table, a sign with fun facts about him, a birthday portrait, cake, a gift, and his own birthday dinner. I ordered him the filet and sweet potatoes, but they do have other options on their dog menu too. And for the humans--they don't slack either. They have a great food and drink menu. I ordered the Flaming Lips cocktail and it's such a fun one... I won't give it away, but yes, there are actual flames involved . I also got the Korean Crunch (fried chicken with red pepper sauce) and it was so good. Everyone else loved their food and drinks too... but I'll be honest, I was a little more focused on Lobo. Kyle was our server and he was amazing--super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Honestly, everything about it was just fun. It's such a unique idea, and I love that places like this exist. We come to Santa Barbara often, and this is 100% going to be a regular stop for us now. Already planning Lobo's 13th here
