Stopped in and ordered 2 entrees to go. An hour later and they got the order wrong. Waitress called me hun when addressing me and was incredibly dismissive after I just said hello. Not sure what that was all about. Food was average and after eating we wish we had gone to McDonalds instead after what I experienced. We were excited to try this highly recommended bar and grill on the River. When we arrived, it was apparent that they were overwhelmed, extremely busy and understaffed. We sat at the bar thinking our service would be better. When we ordered the bartender appeared annoyed and rushed at having to bother with the time and day of us. Our food came out 50 minutes later (corn dogs for the kid, a philly and the recommended mushroom burger. It was all eh, average to boot. I would not recommend this restaurant but as busy as they are, am sure they will be just fine with a 1 star review. read more

Food was quite good, service took 4 asks for a 2 oz. side of BBQ sauce and was charged for it. Had to chase down server for another round. They were good about breaking check into couples, but said they'd still have to charge us 22% gratuity for large party (8 people). Asked for itemization and said they'd get it from the bar but the bar didn't like to do it. Itemization showed that tip was added to tax also resulting in an overall 24% gratuity. We won't go back as the experience left us feeling less than warm about repatriating. read more

food was good, service was TERRIBLE. not a single smile or greeting, nothing. my boyfriends food came out 15 minutes after mine with no explanation. our waitress was this skinny blonde with a bad attitude. spent more time running around overwhelmed than paying attention to customers who help pay her bills with their tips. we tip based off service so this time we decided she didn't deserve one, and when we left, she asked with so much attitude if we were leaving and said "no tip?". hope she gets fired. steer clear of her. read more

Stopped here after some water time, super relaxed place. Friendly and attentive service, all the employees take care of all the tables. My husband and I had a couple beers and shared the potstickers, they are so good!! Great location right by the river, inside/outside seating. Ok so in defense of this place my father and I had an EXCELLENT time eating lunch here this afternoon. The poke bowls we ordered were amazing (tuna & salmon) and service was quick and friendly (at the time). The only reason I'm writing a bad review is because of our waitress. She was so friendly when she was serving us but we ran into her this evening around 8pm at the Fritz and she told us to go "f**k ourselves (twice). No lie I walked up to her and said "hey you waited on us today, you were awesome! Thank you". Well that didn't go well. Like legit,my husband tried speaking with her to calm her down and understand her frustration and she persisted on acting like a child and couldn't give us an answer. It felt very bullyish and immature. I did call the restaurant and spoke with a very nice female manager so here's to hoping she took my warning seriously !!! read more

Came across this place unexpectedly and seated ourselves by the river. It has a great atmosphere. Very welcoming and a mixed clientele. The servers are excellent and professional. The food was made just right. If you're in Salida you should make this one of your go to restaurants. read more

A beautiful location to chill out, and to eat and drink. The gluten free Chicken Club burger was very tasty, as was the salad. Jess Peak was an excellent server and made me feel very welcomed, and she was quite hilarious. Nice work with that. My only criticism is why the bar took so long to get a glass of wine out to me when they had just opened for the Sunday, and the place was empty. They did themselves out of a second glass of wine, and probably a third. All in all a great experience. read more

First, let me say that this small town is a nice oasis in Colorado and the High Side Bar & Grill is a further oasis within the town. A progressive bar and grill with a nice menu and good variety of specialty drinks. I tried the wings (Buffalo garlic sauce), pickled egg, and Ruby Margarita and all were wonderful. Had a great time sitting outside and drinking a beer while we listened to a local band. Lots of fun however, our server was terribly rude and made us feel unwelcome. When we sat down she came over and asked if we were going to order or were "just hanging out" i said we were getting a drink and she asked what we wanted but she hadn't even given us a menu yet! Hot mess express Stopped in for a late lunch. Accidentally sat in the self-serve area, but didn't see the tiny sign explaining that. My hubby got a load of attitude from the bartender when he went in to inquire about ordering. We were told to come back in 20 min to retrieve the food, then were met with confusion and annoyance when we did so. The food was then brought out to us, but I had to go back inside for silverware and napkins, which I finally had to go back to the disaster of a kitchen to find someone to ask. We got burgers all around to make it simple, but each burger came out totally different. Mine was burnt with no veggies, his had lettuce and tomato, my brother's had lettuce only. I promise we didn't ask for custom burgers. I know restaurants during COVID are facing challenges, but c'mon. We spent 100 bucks for the pleasure and didn't even bother with beer. We gave this place a try but never again! Very limited menu. The chicken sandwich was extremely dry like paper. The fries were good cooked very well. But what really ticked us off was the lack of social distancing!! All tables are open! The table we sat at didn't have anyone next to us so we felt comfortable. I guess we took for granted that the table 3 ft from us would be blocked. Not so! They filled up every table. The bar area didn't have a vacant seat and people were standing around those seated like the days before Covid. We quickly ate our food just so we could leave fast. What a delightful gift this place is to the locals who live in our beloved town and those who come here to visit. Chief, a legendary local barkeep, has created a relaxing spot along the river with by far the best burger in town.
