If you're reading this, do yourself a favor: stop scrolling and read all the 1-star reviews. I wish I had. They're not exaggerating--Sargon, the owner, is a SCAMMER of the highest order. I came in for a routine oil change. Soon after, Sargon comes from the back, full of drama, claiming that my oil pan is leaking and that he can't legally release my car because it's "unsafe." I was highly skeptical about that last part but the oil pan needed replacing either way, so I figured I might as well get it done. I agreed to the repair, paid the hefty bill, and left. Fast forward to now, some 8+ months later, I'm at a different shop for an oil change, and guess what? My oil pan is leaking again. The problem? It wasn't replaced in the first place--it was patched up! Yup, Sargon charged me for a full replacement and delivered a DIY hack patch job instead. If that's not a scam, I don't know what is. When I came back to the shop to address the issue and request a refund, I was told to leave in no uncertain terms. Sargon is running a con, plain and simple. I lost my trust with this garage. I took a Ford F-150 in for noise in front end 3 different occasions this winter. Swapped low end parts, but did NOT fix problem. No results - repair - lost over $1,500. I know this because I took the truck in to another local mechanic. When bringing my car in for a check engine light issue, he knew I was late and had failed my first attempt, so he even took my car in and got my emissions passed for me before I picked my car up. Sorry to say not everyone gets 4 or 5 stars. In another life I use to go to High Tech Auto. I use to own a 6 speed Nissan Maxima. The clutch was slipping so I took it into High Tech Auto Service to replace the clutch. This repair cost me somewhere in the range of $1,100 or $1,200 dollars. I would think that this would last me for a few years at least. Well much to my chagrin the clutch went out again less then 8 months later requiring another very costly clutch replacement. I would think that there should have been some type of warranty for either a defected clutch or lousy mechanical work. Well I received neither and had to pay the full amount again for another clutch replacement. I loved my Maxima, but this car was killing me financially thats when I decided to switch to a more reliable car & a more reliable mechanic. I ended up buying a Honda Accord a car known for it reliability and switching to an awesome shop just a few doors down. I have switched to EXPRESS AUTO SERVICE INC. @ 5374 N Elston Ave for all of my auto needs. They not only do outstanding auto body repair but they also do mechanical work. I am so glad to have found High Tech Auto, I've been going to a chain mechanic for years mainly because of how close they are but lately their service has been struggling. I had a situation with my brakes come up and was not able to get in so I began looking around. I called High Tech and spoke with Sargon who originally asked to schedule a time a few days out (which I was more than happy with) but after hearing that my brakes were an issue he asked me to bring it in the next morning first thing. Everything was fixed up on time and the pricing was right on. It was also nice to chat a little bit about the neighborhood as they have been in business for quite a while. WARNING!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! ITS A SCAAAMMMMMMM!! SARGON IS A SCAM!!! i took my car in for a antifreeze leak, he told me its my oil filter housing and "it's so common". So I brought my car on Thursday he told me expect my car by Monday. To my surprise my car was finished the next day about noon. I come in and he makes you feel all good because he said he saved me $200 because "he got the part cheaper" well then 2 days later the engine light goes on and I go back and he says its my Knox sensor, which he says is common after replacing the oil filter housing, (not common at all). So I believe, but I'm not rich and need to save up. But it's too expensive so my husband takes my engine apart to change the Knox sensors himself and come to find out all this man, SARGON, the owner, never changed the oil filter housing, guess that's how he got the part "cheaper", but just clamped a hose and charged me $800. Oh ya and he unplugged my Knox sensor!!!! If my husband could not work on my car I would have never known. THIS MECHANIC IS A SCAMMMMMMMM. DO NOT TRUST HIM!!!!! read more

This is a great shop!! I had been using a different auto repair shop in the area for several years, but I think they changed ownership and I became unhappy there. So for this current repair I used yelp, neighbor referrals and price comparison to find a new shop. ALL THREE LED TO HIGH TECH!! All my neighbors love this place yelp rated it good and they were 100.00 cheaper that any one else for the same work with same parts. Sargon was very patient as I am particular.. I wanted a brand of strut that they normally do not use (generally a bit more expensive), and he was able to get it and keep the price the same. Brand request is generally where less honest shop will take the opportunity to jack your price. So happy to have a new mechanic read more

Sargon and Younan are among the best in the biz. To be honest, I first went to High Tech because it's in my neighborhood. Having gone there now for years, I would take my car there even if it were out of my way. One example why: I had a problem with my car that resulted in failing an emissions test. I took it to High Tech to get it fixed so I could pass the test. When they called (same day) to say it was finished, I asked if it would pass the test now. They let me know that not only would it, but they had taken it to the testing facility for me, gotten it tested, and had the paperwork for me. They fixed the problem, then took it upon themselves to get it tested and cleared for me at no additional charge. Good guys. read more

I have had Sargon and Younan as my mechanics for over 10 years. I brought my car in this morning for rear shocks and as usual, the quality of work is second to none. Now I feel compelled to say something about the negative reviews I have read. They seem pretty full of it to me. Not once have I had to bring a vehicle back for repeat work. They guarantee all of their work so when people are saying they do not, I cann bullshit. Guy with the Mazda, maybe you are bad at driving stick and burnt your clutch up riding it. The guy who said they want to overcharge on simple work, what was the simple work? I am curious because they come in below every shop in the area when it comes to prices. I know this because I always shop around. What I seem to be reading is people writing bad reviews and then trying to get something for free from the shop to take the negative reviews down. Only great experiences! They're always super straightforward. They will try to tell you everything about your car before you leave it so there will be no surprises. They will let you know what they are capable of after a quick look-over of your car. Their prices have been flexible. In my experience, if they can make some profit, then they are willing to give discounts in other places. They don't seem to add full labor costs to every little thing and they don't take much more then the cost of materials. I've never felt ripped off by these guys. There was a point when I couldn't afford to take care of my car well. When I damaged the rotors by not replacing the brakepads, they managed to replace the brakepads without forcing the upsell of the rotors. I told them I'd rather not have to buy new rotors. They were honest and accurate about the need for new rotors and they described the issues to come with precision. They are usually really quick and communicative. One time, there was a slight delay in their contacting me. When I mentioned it, they dropped the price SIGNIFICANTLY. When I leave my car, they also tend to do a thorough lookover for anything that needs some TLC. Nice guys too. Two Brothers. Busy successful business. read more

Stay away from this place. The mechanics are hacks! I took my car in and they actually created more problems with the car that were non-existent when I took it in. Sargon the owner told me that those problems were already there. NOT TRUE! I know enough about cars to know that he messed it up. The worst part was that they denied any wrong doing. I ended up taking it to another shop and they fixed all the errors these idiots created and payed to get all their mistakes fixed. We are so lucky to live so close to this place. They are completely honest and have even turned me away when I thought I needed a repair but didn't. As a woman taking my car in was always always stressful because I used to think people would take advantage of me. These guys treat me like they would treat a sister and always go above and beyond...meeting me down the street when my tire was flat with a tank of air, taking my car for its emissions test when I had to have it looked at for a check engine light, finding the least expensive parts when budgets were tight. I just want to let everyone know how great Sargon at High Tech Automotive is. My BMW X5 lit up like a Christmas tree yesterday. My ABS light, check engine light, & even my "transmission fail safe" light came on. I brought it to him this morning thinking that I was in for the worst & after looking into it for me he replaced my ABS sensor & showed me I needed a tire rod. Even with the new tire rod this all came to a fraction of what the dealership said it would be (which was close to $2300.) I have been coming here since I was a senior in high school and man do they take care of your car!!! Sargon the owner treats you like a close friend of his and is genuine in his helpfullness to correct whatever problem it is you have with your vechicle. Him and his crew have basically done evertything to my Monte Carlo from oil changes to fixing my brakes. Their prices are not expensive at all and they do a phenomenal job in fixing your car. I paid $450 dollars to have my brake pads replaced (front and back), roaders replaced (front and back), oil change, and replacing my cabin and air filters. The wait might be a little long on Saturdays but is definitely well worth it! They are very kind here and are very smart in figuring out the problem with any car that drives in. read more

They will tell you what is wrong with your car and replace only what needs to be replaced. They will not take advantage of you. I once went in and asked for 3 services to be performed for my vehicle. High tech automotive is a Godsend. I had gotten tired of my Subaru dealer overcharging me, so on advice from my nephew, I gave them a try. Sargon and Younan are real nice guys, incredibly honest, and you can't beat their prices. I had been complaining about the rear of my car for 9 months. Of course, Subaru couldn't find the problem until my expensive set of Michellin tires were messed up. Then magically, Subaru found the problem. Too late, Subaru! I said "no thanks!", and went to High Tech. I was quoted a price $250 cheaper than the dealer! I also needed a set of bushings replaced (also cheaper than the dealer!) and some rear linkages or whatever. The car rides great, no more noises, and they even drove me home and picked me up when my car was ready! I live really close, but still. That was really nice of them. Nobody but High Tech will be repairing my car from now on. My husband vows never to go to the dealer again, so his car will go to High Tech also. Thank you Sargon and Younan. I recently had an issue with my Volkswagon Jetta, my girlfriend was diving it in stop and go traffic in the 100 degree weather, with the A/C cranked, and the engine started to smoke. The local VW dealer in Evanston (Autobarn) looked at my car and told me my fans died and the radiator overheated, and the fans needed to be replaced, $1200 for that plus a coolant flush for $150. called Hi Tech on recommendation from my buddy, and they told me to bring it in, that it isn't always the fans, but sometimes wiring, repair cost $250. Sure enough, it was the wiring, and the dealer lied to me. It's nice to find someone reputable, someone who cares about their reputation. My friend and his friends have been going here for years, I wish I had gone there first and saved myself some money for the diagnostic fee from Autobarn. Highly recommend. read more
