I do not understand all of the negative reviews of this place. I love practically right across the street, so needless to say, I was ecstatic when this place opened, since that meant that whenever my car needed maintenance, I could just drop it off there and walk home. When I saw all of these negative reviews, I ALMOST dismissed this place, but eventually decided to give them a try anyways, and I'm glad that I did. I had a loose heat shield on my catalytic converter, which I gladly would have yanked off myself, but I don't have jacks to get my car high enough. I brought my car in to get an oil change, to get the heat shield removed. They called me about five minutes after I left, letting me know that they were not able to get my hood open (Broken hood latch as I later found out) and that they didn't want to keep pulling on the release latch and break the cable. They still removed the heat shield free of charge, which earned them some serious points in my book. After I got the hood latch repaired, I returned to get an oil change. They did a great job, the price is almost half of what they charge at the super shady Jiffy Lube franchise stores, and they had the work done in about 30 minutes. Like anywhere else, they will come up with a laundry list of items on your car that need repair, since that's how places like this stay in business. My advice is to learn a bit about cars, that way if they suggest something that doesn't need to be done, you're able to tell them no, instead of being scared into dropping a large wad of cash that you may not have needed to. Every problem that they found with my vehicle was legitimate, there was no bullshit, and I will be returning here every time I need an oil change. read more

I've been coming here for years but today I discovered that Derek and Victor are two gentlemen who know what customer service means. I originally spoke with Derek regarding two tires that I need to replace. Making an appointment for next Saturday, then realizing that I need to get it done sooner, so I called and was helped right away. I was quoted a price by Derek and Victor honored it, both gentleman were polite patient and explained everything in detail. Completely dishonest shop, with absolutely NO pride in workmanship! I'm a newly retired mechanic, & have no place to work on my car, so I figured I'd support a local business. They have proven themselves unworthy of my trust or support! They charged me $425.00 for service that wasn't performed. It was only when I caught them in a lie, & PROVED it, that they refunded my money. Mind you, I only got my money back because I'm a retired professional, & knew what to look for. Went there early 2023 for brakes and some suspension worked. Seemed friendly and I thought the work was good but 4 months later I had to bring it back as the brakes were making noise. The fixed it but again a year later and the rear brakes are incredibly dusty and they are squealing constantly. Gave them a chance and the failed. Would recommend Iggys. read more

I took my car there for an oil change before I started doing them myself. They told me that my four month old car battery wasn't good and it needed to be replaced. I said no because it was almost new but they said I'd be sorry when my car wouldn't start. My car started for years afterward even in the winter with that battery. These guys are scam mechanics that will do and say anything to nickel and dime you out of more money. Avoid them at all costs. It's disappointing because I live within walking distance of them but I'll never give them my business again. read more

Today was eventful. Requested Oil change, check breaks, rotate tires and top of all fluids. When they called to tell me about breaks they said I also needed new FILTERS. I asked if I needed a CABIN filter. They said "YES" so I immediately told them to stop what they are doing and take the truck down. The reason for that is that I changed the cabin filter a few days ago. So they are straight up lying. I've always worried about this place but today finally caught them. (Very close to home) As I walked into the store there was another customer. This was almost even crazier. When I walked in I said to the lady "check your car when you get out of here". And the guy came out so that was that. I went and watched my truck get finished because I didn't want anything more happening. Then the old lady from inside that I warned pulled up and started asking me what I meant. I thought I told her the story but she just absolutely lost it. Saying she was going to police. That I was starting rumors. She asked me "what did they steal from my car". I again yelled at her THEY DIDNT PHYSICALLY STEAL FROM MY VEHICLE. But she was yelling at me for 10 minutes. Took car here for the alignment groupon worth $44. They claimed my wheel bearing was bad. Turns out the lugs nuts were loose on one wheel. They were telling the same thing to another customer as I walked in. Left the shop with a $700 bill, $25 service charge, no work performed and I pulled over to tighten the lug nuts and the issue was resolved. read more

Just like other reviewers, I would give this place zero stars if I could. I should have checked reviews before I went to this place (I bought a Groupon for a $10 "oil change"--it really ended up being $16 and they DIDN'T EVEN CHANGE MY OIL!). I was suspicious before I even got in my car because the person who charged me was acting kind of weird, no one ran me through the usual talk they do after an oil change, and I was out of there in about 15-20 minutes (much faster than normal). After getting a bad vibe from all three of the employees that I came in contact with, I got in my car and drove home. I had a friend who used to change oil at another place check it for me to confirm my suspicions and they said I was right...the oil was never changed in my car. I would NOT recommend going here to ANYONE, unless they want to pay for an oil change and not get one or they want to deal with a dishonest business. Horrible horrible customer service!!!!! I just called to tell them about my problem and see if they could take a look at my car and he said he would have to charge me. The person I spoke to said it's an electrical problem and why am I calling 2 weeks after it happened. Well I've been busy and haven't had time. It's funny how I have an electrical problem right after my oil change. He also said when they got my car it said I had 66,000 miles, but on the sticker they wrote 106,000 miles. Shouldn't that have cause a red flag to somebody! Screw you Nuno's for not owning up to whatever you did and for trying to charge me to correct it. Avoid this place. Edit 7/18/12 Last week I stopped by my dealership to see what the problem was. Well what do you know everything was changed from miles to kilometers. It literally took 2 seconds to fix. I could have even fixed it myself since all they did was press something by my steering wheel. Whoever did my oil change at Nuno's pressed something incorrectly which made it change to km. Don't go to Nuno's on Lincoln and Touhy in Lincolnwood. I just filed a claim with the BBB. I went there for an advertised special on an oil change. They told me the oil pan gasket was leaking and needed to be replaced. They charged me close to $200. I was suspicious because my car is a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with 20,000 miles. However, I had the work done. Then I decided to check this out with the dealer. I asked the dealer if it was even possible for this to happen to a 2 year old car. The dealer said it's rare but possible, but it's covered under the warranty and Nuno's should have known that and should have told me. I just want to warn others not to do what did! I sat on my review for a week to see if I still wanted to leave it....I do. Took my car in for an oil change, 2-year-old Honda with under 20k miles. They took care of the oil change quickly, but called me and said my engine air filter was completely shot, the in-cabin air filter was so bad it was going to destroy my blower motor, and my injectors were so dirty they may need to be replaced. Come on. I was quoted $130 for the engine air filter, $150 for the in-cabin air filter, and over $300 for labor to install those. Another $100 for the fuel injector service and they were estimating my oil change to turn into a nearly-$700 bill. Of course I didn't have the work done, picked up the car, and got both filters at Auto Zone for under $80 COMBINED. I installed them both in less than 15 minutes, which included looking online for instructions. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

I purchased a Groupon for 3 oil changes. Nowhere in the terms and conditions does it state that an appointment is required. I drove to the facility only to be told that an appointment is required for the oil change. There are no other cars at the facility. I'm not one to argue, especially when an argument could lead to the disagreement being taken out on my car. I'll just call Groupon and request a refund. If they deny I will just contest the charges on my credit card. As I live in Edison Park I was hoping to find an honest repair shop within walking distance. I am always wary of a business that you dread getting a call from because they found "one more problem" and this is that type of place. I don't know enough about cars to know if I'm getting taken advantage of, but I do know that before moving I patronized my previous repair shop for 15 years with 4 or 5 different cars and never had the number of new problems arise as they did here. In fairness the vehicle sounded better so repairs were made; the question is just were they all really necessary? I don't understand the customer service complaints. The staff was very friendly with little wait time and the repairs were done in a timely fashion so no complaints about that aspect of the visit. read more

After 3 months owning it the car would not start after work so I called Nuno's and asked how much to look at the car they said $25 I figured ok good price , so I paid $150 to tow it from Rosemont mall to get it checked out next day they call and tell me I needed a new motor and they gave me an estimate of $3500 to do this work , I was devastated and didn't know how to break the news to my daughter . They said they can do no interest payments for one year . Thought about it and was almost going to do it but something told me doesn't hurt to get another opinion , so I called and told them I was taking it home and wasn't going to fix it right now the guy asks me if I wanted to sell it to them and I said No and asked them what I owed knowing they said $25 to look at the car . They told me $45 you owe I said well I was told it's $25 . The guy says yes but we had to get into it more . I paid the price and towed it to Bruce's auto on Northwest highway best trouble shooters and honest mechanics . I told him where I had it and what they told me about needing a new motor .They were busy when I dropped it off so they called me about week later and told me my air compressor was shot and needed to be replaced that it locked up and would not let the motor turn cost me $1000 new parts and labor. I was shocked that it wasn't the motor . Had it fixed and runs like a charm , Sent a message online to speak to a manager at Nuno's and Alex called me same day . I told him what happened and that I couldn't believe they made a bad call like that and he says I can refund you the money so I told him I would stop by for the $45 I paid , I get there and I'm told it will be a credit for next time I go there for work . They told me after getting the oil changed on my Toyota Sienna needed a new front passenger bearing so I said fine just fix it , the next day I went to get my car and the noise was still there and that the tires were bad, 2 days later I went back to the shop with new tires and told them the noise still there, now the said the noise is from the differential . So they replaced the front bearing for no reason , WTF?? read more

This by far is the absolute Worst auto repair shop in the world. I live nearby in Norwood Park and have two older vehicles so when things started needing repair work I took a chance on Nuno's on Harlem & Devon. Big mistake. My wife's van has been in 5 times for a check engine light and they still can't figure out what to do with it. I brought my car in for one problem and when I got it back there was a different problem with the brake lights. They advertise that they open at 7:00 a.m. but when I got there at 7:00 I had to wait 20 minutes for the manager to arrive and open the doors. I DONT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS SHOP AT ALL. I took my car in to get my suspension changed (10 total pieces) and the charged me $900 with an wheel alignment included. When they gave me my car, the steering wheels was crooked. I called in to ask what was the reason for this, and they said that it was because there was another part of the car that needed to be fixed and that because that piece needed to be changed, the car couldn't be aligned. However I was still charged $100 for the alignment when the alignment had not been done! I bought the pieces and took it in a week after, they ofcourse charged me $200 more. Two days after it has been changed and "fixed", my car started making a weird noise. I decided to go to another mechanic, and it turns out that a lot of the bolts had not been screwed in properly, they were all loose! They are by far the least professional people I have meet! And they charge as if they had much expertise! I am very unhappy with this shop. read more

The towing was $90 and it was less than a mile! They said it was the fuel pump and will cost $850!! A fuel pump and installation should be $350 to $400. Always go here for oil changes. They seem to do a fine job as far as I can tell! This last Thursday a belt broke on my car. My dad went and bought a new one and tried to replace it but due to the cold he could not. He brought it over to nunos and they charged $92 in labor to put on the belt. Not even 24 hrs later my battery light came on and I pulled into a gas station and popped my hood! To my dismay the belt had fallen off. I had to wait 3 hrs for a tow to my dealer. They discovered that something on my engine was broken which is why the belt would not stay on. Nunos should have caught the problem when they installed it. When I complained on fb they called my dad to apologize and asked me to call them. I did 3 times with no response, but yet they responded on fb saying that had resolved the problem. Total lie! I didn't get a refund or an apology for their shotty work! Beyond angry and will never be back or recommend how I used to! read more

If I Could give a zero star rating I would. My normal mechanic was closed and I had get my valve stem on my tire changed. They charged me $96 for a part that I can buy at auzozone for $51, almost a %100 markup. And they also charged me almost ten dollars for "shop supplies." When I asked them what it was for he said some sprays and sealers. Really, 10$ for some sprays? And he claimed their normal markup was 5% on parts. Never going there again . read more

I originally thought this place was OK with minor stuff. Customer service was fine and friendly. Unfortunately, My last experience was sub par on a few different levels. I needed a new part for my car and I was quoted a part price that was 2.5x more expensive than an internet site. I asked why this was, and they stated because the OEM parts are typically more expensive. (Read: expensive, not better) I asked if the internet part could be used they said no, because they couldn't stand by the warranty. This policy makes no sense. On the off chance the cheaper part failed, it was less expensive for me to have the past replaced twice with the cheaper part than have it done with the expensive part right off the bat. They didn't understand my reasoning or the logic behind doing it this way, and still refused to use anything else except the more expensive part. That's suspicious. I elected to have the work done because I didn't have options at the time. The work was completed on time. At the time of pick up the warning light was still on, but i was told the car drives fine and it should go off in a few days. If it doesn't, bring it back. I drive for 3 weeks, light still on. I bring it back, wait an hour, They run a diagnostic test again and state they cannot clear the code I have to take it to the dealer and this may cost more money. I asked them if they had this magical machine the last time my car was here and they said yes. They had no answer when I inquired as to why I was not told this in the first place instead of wasting an hour of my Saturday morning. My impression is that their parts are marked up excessively to pull a profit, (which i understand a little bit, but don't gouge the customer, especially when it doesn't make sense and the warranty price is against the best interest of the customer) I will not go back because I feel they lied to me to get me out the door without questioning the whole light issue after what I just paid. instead of admitting they couldn't clear a code, (which i didn't care much about to start) they were hoping I would forget about it, but they got caught when i came back. I brought my car into Nuno'sshop because the Check Engine light was on. They ran diagnostics and resolved the problem at hand, although they did nail me for a few extras, like a new gas cap and cleaning my fuel injectors, even though the fuel injectors had been cleaned less than a year ago. While I was there they said there was a noise coming from the right front wheel (which I have never heard to this day) and said they'd check it out. After checking it out they gave me an estimate for a total of $1,243.53 for replacement of the upper and lower right control arms, control arm camber bolts and an alignment. I did not have them do this work that day because I was suspicious since I did not hear any "noise" nor feel any difference in the way my car drives. This past week I have had the car into not one but two area auto repair shops, one of which I have gone to many times over the years and know to be honest and do quality work. Both auto shops told me the same thing: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY RIGHT FRONT CONTROL ARMS. They also indicated that if this work truly needed to be done, the prices Nuno's gave me were very inflated. The day I had my vehicle at Nuno's what it amounted to was that they saw a woman with a credit card and figured I would believe this fairy tale and pay $1,243.53 without getting a 2nd opinion. This is considered consumer fraud and I am furious. I have already filed a complaint with the City of Chicago consumer fraud protection as well as the Better Business Bureau. And now I have been reading all kinds of reviews about these guys doing it to other people as well. Stay away from them. read more

By far the worst shop I've ever been too.The only reason I went there was because my car started to overheat right in front of the shop,so I really didn't have a choice.I need a new radiator, and thermostat.Which was fine with me.If it's gotta get done , it's gotta get done. But the price was 750.They charged me double for the parts, and the customer service was horrible.not to mention the work was very shotty.The didn't plug my fans back in, they unplugged my alternator, and didn't plug it back in. My battery completely drained, and they wanted to charge me to take a look at it. I was there when they first opened and was unsatisfied. Was getting a lot of water in my front passenger floor, a LOT, the carpet was soaked! They told me that I had a leak in my sunroof (??), not to use it and keep an eye on it (??). Took it back AGAIN, they finally figured out that it was the evaporator tray from my AC unit. They were 2 blocks away and wanted to try them but after this experience decided to go back to my trusted but much less convenient mechanic. Waited 2 months to review. Bought a Groupon for a 4 wheel alignment with tire rotation and synthetic oil change. The mechanic said I needed a upper control arm on the front right side because he couldn't get the alignment correct and gave me a $450 estimate. They didn't rotate the tires and I question if they tightened up the left side after they were done because of the sounds I now hear when I go over a speed bump. I will go to a referred shop to verify IF the part is needed and have it repaired there. If not for the lifetime warranty on the alignment and rotation I'd never go back! read more
