Easy, online scheduler - they even moved around our time when something came up at work, and got our work done the same day, knowing we had to pick up our daughter from daycare. They didn't talk down to me as a female, and also seem welcoming and inclusive, which we sometimes find is hard to find in this neighborhood - thank you for making us feel that way EK! We will be back for any and all car work, including oil changes since they are walking distance, and their facilities are flawless - you could hang out all day with how nice their waiting area is and bathroom-coolest one I've ever been in! read more

I bought a winter beater, and decided to get a cheap oil change. I was going to go to any chain (ie Jiffy Lube) but something told me to instead pay a little more and take it somewhere where they wouldn't treat me like a number. I took the car to Ek Auto, and surprisingly they had a "get acquainted" offer that ended up putting them in the same price range as the cheap chains. As I waited in the shop for them to carry on the work, it felt so welcoming: it's a nice little cabin with tons of things to keep you distracted, and a coffee machine available for free. Awesome experience. 2 days later, I wake up to a flat tire. I decided to take it in to the same shop and uber to work, and when I came back to pick up the car, I asked how much the repair was, and they said "it was just a broken valve, so don't worry about it". Wow. Talk about not treating you like a number. And yes, I know, a valve is cheap, but it takes time to figure out what was wrong and fix it, and labor isn't cheap. We were looking for a mechanic close to where we live. We found automotive happiness in Ek Auto. Located in the Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago, they have been an established business for 24 years as of this month serving all your mechanical needs for your automobile. My husband and I brought our car in without an appt. It needed an oil change and we wanted to see if the brakes needed to be done. 1. The mechanics were fair and honest with us. They told us our brakes looked good, changed the oil and provided a well printed receipt detailing all charges. 2. The inside of the waitroom is very clean. The floors are neatly made with recycled crates. 3. We also needed a new windshield as a rock cracked the glass on ours. They had the windshield replaced for a decent price and a did good job. 4. Steve Ek is a, "neighborhood," guy. He is very down to earth and very fair to deal with. His character was a draw for us to try his shop. We will continue to be patron's of Ek Automotive. I was looking into places to get my oil changed besides the basic Jiffy lube stop in. I must say I am SO HAPPY I BROUGHT MY CAR HERE. They are so thorough and honest and as a young female bringing my car in I sometimes feel iffy and hesitant with the extra recommendations car places make for my car, but here at Ek they were super real and to the point and even took the time to explain what certain services were and why they are beneficial, but they were not pushy AT ALL which I appreciated so very much. The day after my oil change I unfortunately had a nail in my tire.... I called Ek Automotives and they were happy to get me in that day and patch up my tire and put it back on in no time. LIFESAVERS. I was charged a diagnostic fee over over $100 dollars when I already told them the problem from another service station. I asked if they could do Hyundai repairs for the original problem and then call and said they didn't have the equipment for the repair. ASR's for my diagnostic fee back; never got it. This place is awesome! Steve always gets the job done promptly and at an extremely reasonable rate. The standard oil change deal comes to about $30 with oil, with the check up and everything. My car needed an air filter replaced, which was done for HALF the price the nearby Jiffy Lube quoted (yes, I am ashamed, I did get an oil change there once...). They constantly do the "little extras" at little or no cost (like installing the wipers my husband thought would be a cinch to install). You have the added peace of mind that they will actually look out for problems on your car, and if there is a problem, fix it correctly. Their work does have a warranty apparently. I would definitely trust them to work on my car without even a second quote. read more

Obviously Customer S is not quite sure what he got done to his car. Pretty sure they don't charge 180.00 for an oil change and tire rotation. Customer Service was wonderful. The air conditioning was not working on my Fathers 2014 Chevy Impala. My Brother said it was an easy fix I could save money and do it myself by purchasing a can of freon at the local auto parts store. Up to this point the only 'work' I had done on any car was filling It with gas and washing It once or twice. So I'm not sure why I thought it would be as easy as my brother said. Spent several hours watching YouTube videos. Spent about $50 can of freon. And eventually was successful adding the freon to the car and getting the A/C working again! The cold A/C lasted about a day. It was then I decided this was better left to a professional. I received a flyer in the mail from EK Automotive. Called them and spoke to Natalie. She had a great attitude and was able to set up an appointment right away. They inspected the car, fixed the A/C and changed the oil. The cost to do all of that was not much more than what I paid for just an oil change at jiffy lube. Excellent overall experience and Recommend EK Automotive to anyone who owns a car. Took my car in for some repairs and felt I was extremely overcharged and probably had the worst customer service I've experienced with car repair. This guy charged me excessively for an oil change, tire rotation and top off the fluids. Approximately $180.00, Talk about nickel and diming me to death. The guy on the corner of Harlem/Devon charges $21.99 for the oil change/tire rotation/top off fluids. Shame on me for going to this place. How he's been in business for 20 yrs is beyond me. DO NOT take your car here, there's more trust worthy places in the area. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this place and Steve is all positive energy and is actively involved in the local community which is evident in the fact that his shop is thriving. I had an issue, the estimate was given and when I picked up the car it was much cheaper than expected, they told me they were able to save some parts. Now what auto place would do that?? Also before I even brought my car in, Steve made sure he had all the parts that I needed, instead of bringing my car in and hearing "uh, we don't have the parts, we'll have to order them". We've been bringing both of our cars to Ek for the last 10 years - no complaints yet. They don't "talk down" to us, or pull the automotive jargon that makes your head spin. Thye explain things thoroughly, are fairly priced, and have quick turnaround. They'll even provide transportation within the neighborhood if you're left without your car for a bit.
