My boyfriend got food poisoning from a burrito he got here on Friday. Don't eat here! He's been sick for 3 days now.

After a legitimate apology from High Tech Burrito I was given a coupon for a free burrito and encouragement to give them another shot. I appreciated the fact that they did not ask for, or imply, that I should update my review. With that said, I went back into the High Tech Burrito in the Strawberry shopping center and had a solid A-OK experience. The Good: + I decided to try something completely different and went with the Thai burrito. I enjoyed the flavors although I wish there had been a bit more kick from spice or pepper. Overall a 3-star burrito. + The outdoor space is great to grab a quick lunch in spite of the people walking by inches away from the tables. + Friendly staff. The Still Meh: o The layout of this place is still a disaster. I love the fact that the items are made with fresh ingredients, but the extra few minutes it takes means that people queue. If this location had just 20 more square feet the problem would be solved, but it is what it is. I almost wish there wasn't seating inside! I appreciate that High Tech Burrito takes their reviews seriously and I thank them for the opportunity to give their business another shot. They are back on my list of places to grab a quick lunch. read more

They're very hit or miss. I used to enjoy their burritos, but recently it has gone down hill. I usually get their steak burrito and the meat has started to taste VERY bad. Don't know what happened. Maybe a bad batch of meat recently? I don't want to keep coming back and hoping that they've fixed this problem; so I won't! TL;DR - Can be good sometimes, but their steak has become very bad lately. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride...Even as a kid, when I didn't fully comprehend why that expression was offensive, I found it off-putting...So why is it the first thing that popped into my head when reviewing High Tech? Living in Mill Valley, my husband and I always headed to Grilly's first when craving burritos. They have always been our go to spot. When they are closed, but we don't want to give up on the idea of some fast Mexican food to go, we head here. Why is it never our first choice? The food has always been good, the veggies are fresh, the salsa is yummy, they have great (really great!) variety in fillings...The service has always been quick and friendly. Maybe by habit or loyalty...or their fantastic chicken salad...Grilly's will always be our number one...But High Tech is really solid, and I'm always happy after a visit. read more

I hadn't eaten there in probably 7 years or so. But when I went to the salon I used to work in to send them off (they're closing after almost 30 years or so) I decided to have a High tech Burrito. So not a true burrito. Strange to have sort of the quasi-Mexican equivalent of an Asian stir fry inside a burrito. But yet so good. I really enjoy the Cajun with Shrimp. yum. read more

Probably the worst customer service EVER. I ordered a chicken burrito with meat rice cheese pico and sc a pork burrito and a chicken bowl. Not only did they not make one burrito but i come home to find my chicken burrito was WRONG. I go back and they basically tell me i ordered the wrong thing and start ringing me for another.... I LOVE the fish tacos here! For Mill Valley, it's VERY decently priced and the best part is that they're SUPER YUMMY =) The bad part tho is there is always a long wait to pick up during lunch. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I got a breakfast burrito with NO MEAT and NO CHEESE and they would not sub avocado and charged me extra. If I'm saving you money on the bacon and cheese you can't sub avocado? Every restaurant I've ever been to in my life will sub out avocado for meat & cheese. Manager was also very rude with his delivery and tone of voice. So I eventually got my burrito and it was only eggs Pico and potatoes. Leaving out the beans and avocado I was charged extra for. They made me another burrito & the manager asked me to throw the other one away before giving me my new one.. as if I had some master plan to get free food. He should have let me keep the other burrito after they made a mistake and charged me too much for my burrito anyway. Negative vibes all around. Not to mention this burrito is super tiny. It's literally a kids size burrito at any other restaurant. I would not recommend that anyone come to this restaurant it is really bad. I haven't been to this chain for quite some time. At least well before they changed with Logo, decor and menu. I really enjoyed it. They have such a wide variety now. I see that people are kind of bitching out all the questions HTB asks you when you order a burrito. Well, just order one of their special burrito and you get it "as is". I tried their Mesquite Grilled Chicken and it was outstanding. Well, maybe not outstanding but since I did eat for almost 20 hours, it was REALLY good to me. Lots of burrito options had me excited to try this place again . Tried the Hawaiian terriyaki just for something different. The only flavors coming through were too much terriyaki and cilantro. Tried the San Rafael location awhile back and their wi-fi didn't work, this location was the same. Also, the seating area in this place is really small. About 6 people on high stools along the window and then a bench that seats two waiting for "to go" orders. Probably won't spend that much for a burrito that didn't impress me so much. Or have we crossed over into into the desolate wasteland in which high tech is a phrase of the past and really doesn't mean anything anymore?... I'm going with the ladder. Been to this HTB a few times and pretty unimpressed. Either they aren't very good at rolling burritos or I've just hit them during times they're not focused. A good burrito should have all elements in every bite as much as possible. My last burrito had one end soggy with water from too much salsa sitting in one area while other bites were pretty much just rice and beans. They can also skimp on the guac on occasion. read more

Updated review: I didn't give High Tech the 4/5 stars earlier this year because the cashier didn't know what the Yelp! offer was. They definitely know now. I check in on Yelp! as soon as I get in line to take advantage of the dollar off a combo or the free fountain drink. Food-- always fresh and delicious. I get the Fajita burrito Or the Baja Shrimp burrito. I get nuclear salsa and yaaassssss it is hot! I've been getting shrimp lately, but their chicken is juicy and the steak is perfect. I would go here over Chipotle any day. Staff is great. I always get friendly smiles and hellos From the cooks, which you can watch make your burrito from the little waiting area. The main cashier guy, olive skin and great smile, is always so friendly. He's been working there for awhile now and he always makes me feel like I'm important and welcome. I really love this place. I've loved High Tech since my mom and brother and I used to split a Godzilla burrito when I was a kid from the San Rafael/Miracle Mile location. I have always gotten an absolutely delicious and filling meal here. Beware: lunch crowds during the school year. When it's packed, it is wall-to-wall. Located in the Strawberry Village shopping center next to Safeway. Parking can be a bitch, but it's worth it and very OK to park a little further away where there's a spot and do a little walking. read more

Too many questions! When I go to a taqueria I want to get a burrito, not fill out a questionnaire. I get that there are benefits to being able to customize each and every component of a burrito if you choose, but going through the laundry list when you order seems pretty unnecessary. There are some wraps to choose from, including suitably Marin-y pesto and BBQ sauce burritos, but if you just want a super carnitas with jalapeños, you get kept from your prize by elementary questions about beans and rice. Just give me my burrito! Unfortunately, once you get the thing it's not necessarily clear that it has benefited from the 'high tech' treatment. Not particularly tasty, I'd echo a lot of the advice from others and say go for Lucinda's instead. I do give this High Tech location (there are several others throughout the Bay Area) kudos for carrying the requisite wacko-liberal rag The Coastal Post, a monthly freesheet printed out of Bolinas. Can't believe this place has 3 stars! Really? This is the best burrito I've ever had - I'm not even kidding. Had the Godzilla today and was. blown. away. Steak, chicken, yummy beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, melted together beautifully on a wheat roll. Seriously filling and finger-licking. In the past I have also have tried the California burrito and it is very tasty for a veg burrito. Even the kids burrito is delicious. Extra props for having brown rice and wheat tortilla. The prices are great and you get 10% just for checking on Yelp. Pro tip: make sure you ask for extra mild salsa - they don't give very much and it is YUMMY! My new mainstay in Marin. Id love to give them more than 3 stars, but I am from the Mission after all, where I can get bomb-a*s tacos and burritos at my local taqueria. They have the basics and their burritos are Americanized, they don't have Chorizo either...sometimes you have that craving and while in Marin this will suffice. read more

50/50. sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. - when you take out items they don't give u more of the other stuff so you get a really small burrito - most of the burritos are mostly rice & lopsided so one bite rice and the other bean or chicken - almost always forget the sour cream - when you say extra cheese there's no extra cheese (don't waste your $1.50) it's a bummer because they have potential to be really good but i feel like a real taqueria is better. read more

I love the street tacos here they are so good i always get one of each so one steak, one chicken and one pork. I also love their quesadillas especially the steak one i usually add jalapeño to make it spicy. They also have gigantic cookie about the size of your head and they are baked everyday. The service here is always great the people here are awesome they are so friendly and they really cater to you. You guys really need to check this place out. read more

Don't use your credit card here! I used a card I rarely use and handed the card to them for payment. My card just got hit with $3,000 in charges from google pay. I only use this for Apple Pay and this was the first time in a year that I handed the card to someone! You have been warned! read more

Came here because i was craving a breakfast burrito... they offer them but its just eggs beans and cheese. You can add steak, chicken or shrimp but no breakfast meats like sausage or bacon. I opted for steak because "steak and eggs" is closest to breakfast. The burrito was really dry and if you want salsa, you have to pay $1.25 for a little cup! The meat was average quality and pretty tough to chew. I won't be getting a breakfast burrito here again but i may come back to try a shrimp burrito. The kitchen looks very clean and organized and you can see in from the counter. I wish they had a free salsa bar. The staff was friendly and the music was good. read more

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart to HTB, however a few years back they changed their beans which now are a little tougher than the goodness that they used to shell out. Food is bland, but good. Nothing that a little Tapatio can't correct. Think Marin's version of Chipolte. read more

We started going to HTB because my daughter likes their Itty Bitty Beanie so I know she will eat if we stop. For a long time I tried different burritos and never found something that was doing it for me. Then I found the pork street taco. Delicious! I like the food, not the staff. The staff are barely order takers half alive -- almost to the point of being a bit surly. How about trying to welcome us in and say hello, and actually mean it (people keep coming in, you have a job -- basic economics). Make sure you get the order right. Maybe be a little friendly and warm not a robot that hates their job so much we all know it. Maybe it is management's fault. Is staff paid a decent wage? Are hours and shifts reasonable? Do employees get benefits? I don't know but time and time again I go in and the staff is horrible. Once in a rare blue moon someone is actually pleasant and it blows me away because it's the exception not the rule. They have the advantage of location, the food is good if you find what you like but the staff is sorely lacking. read more

Bean and Cheese with all the fixings, plus guac, then make it enchilada/wet/mojado style. This is the way to make your lunch a little bit of heaven. You need that burrito swimming in the sauce.... There is a quite a variety of good burritos here to choose from. I have not ventured into the other fare, so cannot speak of it. But the burritos - very good overall. Food was amazing. I had a veggie burrito with corn, cheese, cilantro and pico de gallo and loved it. Customer service was appalling though. There seemed to be 3 staff members just standing around behind the cashiers. Our cashier was extremely reluctant to answer any of our questions about the menu items. We noticed that the kids item would be free per a huge sign on the wall but they were really annoyed about us asking for it to be free even though we had a kid with us. They ended up not even making the kids item with our order and I had to bring it up again until they finally made it after a ton of grumbling from all the staff members behind the counter. read more
