The birria tacos, shrimp salad, and loaded nachos were definitely the standout items for me, flavorful, fresh, and really enjoyable. A few dishes missed the mark. The KBBQ tacos were okay, and the chicken rice bowl tasted like the chicken may not have been as fresh as it could've been. I also personally wasn't a fan of the rice pudding empanada but the churros were absolutely delicious. My best friend ordered the margarita tower and felt the drinks were on the weaker side as well. I took my teenage God Twins out to dinner on Friday evening at this establishment. We ordered everything and some. Loved the street corn and guacamole & the kids enjoyed their meals. However, the temperature dropped drastically and they had the front door and windows wide open. There's literally not one person waiting to eat in this restaurant. there's literally three empty tables right now that could've been added on to our table but no, they're letting our friends sit along the bench seat with no table in front of them and not letting them to order food. Returned to this place after some time, I should have returned sooner, the place is well lit with a nice and clean look, it's very inviting, the service is very good, our waitress was friendly and attentive, the food was even better than the last time I was here, we really enjoyed our meals. We started with a Jalapeño and a Blackberry Mint Margarita. They were good, and they were followed by some Santa Fe Empanadas and Stuffed Plantains. They were very good, the plantains surprised me, I'm not a big fan of plantains but they sure worked the way they prepared them. The waiter and owner were engaged in conversation at the bar and it took nearly 10 minutes to come to our table. They only approached due to our waving our hands. We ordered one set (later the waiter said that it was only 2 for 1 if you ordered a food combo. We explained that was not what the owner said. I'm adding this place on my list as a new spot for tacos. A friend and I went to High Tide Taco Bar on a Sunday evening to grab dinner and catch up and I have to say, I was quite satisfied. It wasn't busy so we seated rather quickly, which was good because the place isn't huge. Our waiter brought us chips and salsa for the table as we looked over the menu. So many taco options to choose from; they all sounded good. But I opted for the pulled pork, carribean (chicken) and brisket. My friend got Korean, fish, and carribean as well. I enjoyed all three, but my favorites were the pulled pork and carribean. My friend loved the Korean taco. Add some hot sauce for a bit more spice/flavor. It was the extra kick I needed, made it even better. For drinks we got margaritas. I got a berry margarita and my friend had a frozen Mango margarita. Mine was good. But there was no salt or sugar on the rim. What's a margarita without that? Anyway, it was okay but I had better. I probably should have went with a mai tai or Mojito. We ordered take out of the Taco Salad and the Southwestern Salad but substituted shrimp for the steak. The chipotle parmesan dressing is DELISH! We couldn't finish our lunches as they were filling and I look forward to eating it again later. I have yet to try the drinks here so that will be next on my to do list. So you wouldn't really think to order it... but the hidden secret of this place is the dessert! Let me tell you, we ordered the churros with the chocolate dipping sauce the first time with our taco kits. Omg - brought me back to my childhood days. Who doesn't love a delicious churro! Overall not a bad spot in the village which features a California Mexican cuisine and a beachy restaurant vibe. Food was decent and the menu had alot of options, especially taco wise. My wife and I split 4 tacos which were all just ok. Size wise it was great, but flavor wise they were just ok. Not bad tacos, but not the best tacos I've ever had. The empanadas we split were very good and would recommend. Service was good and the waiter was knowledgeable of the menu. The number of "gotcha" moments was astounding....we went in for the Monday 1/2 price app promo, and was only told on arrival that it's limited to one app per full priced entree. Disappointing. You need to advertise that!When I went to alter my order, we were deceived again by "add guac to any taco!" on the menu. An additional upcharge, not advertised. The food came and it was okay. Not great. Overcooked on almost all proteins, and weird flavors that really aren't Mexican and didn't work. The salsa was just enchilada sauce? Weird. The birria consomé was the enchilada sauce AGAIN, just watered down. The entree came with chips, and there was maybe 8 or 9 tortilla chips on my plate. When the bill came, we were charged extra for the high tide taco. I inquired and was told that there's an upcharge for seafood, but I pointed out that it's in the "beef" section, not the seafood...not advertised correctly on their end. The bill also had an almost 4% "service charge", not mentioned anywhere on the menu or in the restaurant (this is illegal btw). I inquired and was told it was a credit card fee. So, I paid cash. When she gave me change, she still took the service charge anyway. Had to inquire again. Way too many "gotcha" moments, which leaves patrons feeling robbed. We were charged more than expected for the "Monday promo", more for the guac, more for the taco type, more for the service charge...you can't do that and claim to run a good business. Management - you need to CLEARLY display and advertise all of these charges. It's not fair. read more

Love this place! Since discovering it we come almost every week. The food is delicious - the full menu of tacos and salads are all excellent. Such a great taco selection and all of them are a very generous size. And the staff are phenomenal. So nice, friendly, and accommodating. Big shoutout to our waitress Jen, who is among this generation's great waitresses, but everybody we've had has been terrific. Love that you can get the tacos wrapped in lettuce.
